Changes

The morning after her date with Schwambart, Moonlight told Asher
she wanted to do something but didn't tell him what. The two had
just left their house, Moonlight being in an obviously perky
mood. She had a pep in her step and hummed lightly while Asher
had a really confused look on his face.
The sun was bright and the weather was beautiful, being outside
during the day was still something she needed to get used to.
"Don't worry Ash, I'll answer your questions now." Moonlight
turned her head towards her brother who despite his confusion,
was still humming gleefully to himself.

Of course there was something odd about Moonlight dragging him
off somewhere, she never wanted to go out. But she was insistent
and it's been a while since they spent some quality time
together.
He stops his humming and turns his head to her also, "Right. So,
I have alot of questions. Y'know, let's start with the
obvious...coltfriend. How in Equestria do you have a coltfriend
when one, you don't talk to anypony and two, you almost never go
out?"
Asher had his concerns, of course he was close with his sister
and wanted the best for her. The mere mention of some stallion
swooping in out of nowhere to date his sister had him on edge.

Moonlight sighed at Asher's display of big brother
protectiveness, though it was fair... he had no idea or has even
heard about Schwam before, well technically he has.
Her voice lowers in a more serious tone, "Remember a couple
weeks ago? When I told you about what happened in Canterlot?"

Asher immediately frowned, something he rarely ever did but when
he first heard about what happened to his sister he felt like he
was going to throw up. Moonlight was all that he had left and
protecting her is high on his list of duties, but to hear that
she could've died was something else entirely. He didn't even
like the idea that she put herself in danger, but there was no
way he could stop her; Asher knew she was brave to a fault.
In regards to her question he sighed a bit, "Yes I do. Why?"

"Well, remember the stallion who came back for me? Who helped me
and Niv? He's the one I'm dating now..." Moonlight looks ahead
for a moment, trying not to think too much of the worse moments.
"If he didn't come back for us I don't know what would've
happened. Even though that day went bad, it brought us together
in a weird way and..." She pauses for a second and a smile
returns to her face, "We grew closer and I really like him, he
makes me feel comfortable and happy."
Moonlight turns back towards Asher who looks like he's thinking
really hard, she lets him have a moment.

He had to admit, that was pretty unexpected. Though alot of
things recently were...
Asher eventually chuckles and smiles at Moonlight, "Well, he
must've liked you a lot to go back even when you were helping
Niv out." He knew everything that happened, and he knew about
Moonlight's new friend Nivalia. It was a little unorthodox but
he knew Moonlight had good judgement and he trusted her word. If
Moonlight called her a friend so did he.
"Okay okay." Asher waves his hoof at his sister, "He gets a free
pass and as long as he makes you happy that's all that matters.
I still gotta meet him though, protective big brother here and
all."

"You're only two minutes older than me..." Moonlight muttered
under her breath.
"Still older." Asher laughs at her expense.
"Well anyway, you'll meet him eventually. He's very nice, and
funny..." Moonlight starts to trail off in her own little world,
starting to swoon over Schwam again. "He's handsome and he's a
pega-" She's cut off by Asher's laughter.
"Of course he's a pegasus. You always were fascinated by them
and their," Asher makes a very high pitched mock of Moonlight's
voice, "Wiiiiiiiiiings."
Moonlight furrows her brow and gives her twin a glare, "Stop it!
...Jeez."
He chuckles again and decides to stop teasing her, "You should
ask him to fly you around sometime, I'm sure you want to. Oh! I
can try and teach you the spell so you can sit on a cloud!"
She sighs impatiently and rolls her eyes, "You know I'm not good
at learning spells Asher. You know everything, you can even
teleport now..." Moonlight pouts and was now slightly
embarrassed.

"You may not be able to pick it up fast but you can still do it
if you practice a lot, I'll help you!" Asher looks at Moonlight
who just continues to walk silently.
He knew that she was insecure about her magical abilities,
especially since she compared hers to his all the time. "Well I
can't do everything. I can't do your 'moon' thing." Asher could
hear her scoff afterwards.
"Yeah, and have you tried to do it? I'm sure you could
considering you can do everything else." Moonlight retorted in a
slightly bitter tone.
"I actually have tried, but I can't." Asher gave her a
compassionate look, he hated that she felt that way about her
magic. "Moon, you know that even though you don't know how to do
a lot with your magic it doesn't make you less of a unicorn. I
can try and teach you whatever you want to learn, it's just that
you need to really want to learn it."
Moonlight sighed, but gave in. "I know."
"Plus, that's your special power. You have your moonlight thing
and I have the twin thing." He watched as Moonlight smiled
again.
"You're right. So you'll teach me the cloud thing?"
"Yup!" Asher happily responded and changed the subject. "Next
question. Where are we going?"

Asher's question came at a perfect time because they just
reached the middle of Ponyville, many others were out and about
doing shopping or just socializing. It's only been thirty
seconds since they stepped hoof in town and her brother had
already received a few waves.
"Well, after all that's happened and the new things happening in
my life I feel kind of rejuvenated. I thought about it and I
decided that I want to get my mane cut!" Moonlight excitedly
claimed right as the two trotted up to the salon.

Asher laughs for a few seconds, slowly stopping when he realizes
that she's not laughing with him. He looks up at the salon,
"...Oh wait you're serious." He knew that Moonlight loved her
hair, for good reason too. It was long and beautiful, many would
love to have her mane. But of course she'd look amazing no
matter what and he promised to always support her. "...You uh,
you're sure about this right? Not like it's permanent, it'll
grow back but you've never really had your mane cut before."
He wanted to make sure it was something she really wanted to do,
but he could already tell by the look on her face that it was
already pretty set in stone.
