       Re: Throne Room
   DIR By: Princess Celestia
       Date: September 18, 2017, 11:39 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
With a final stroke of the pen lashing an elegant tail to the
last thread of her signature, Princess Celestia, currently
trying her best to get away from both her desk and her room, was
finished reviewing the most recent proposal from a local
and… “unique” guild. Her response, to sum it
up quickly, had been: “No, you may not use the local
squirrel population in your proposed “totally nuts”
new energy plant.” but she doubted it would do much to
stave off the incoming tidal wave of responses that would be
filled to the brim with large and flowery words but would
ultimately translate out to an elongated and near childish
“pleeeeeeeease?” No matter, that would be a problem
       for another time.
She let out a small yawn and took a second to enjoy the fact
that she had no remaining appeals and bills to sift through.
She’d meant to take an early night the day before to
better prepare for this night and its events but failed to get
lucky as she was forced to play catch up on some last minute
work that had almost literally crashed through her window just
before she’d gone off to bed and again was made to wake
early for some otherwise benign emergency born from a harmless
       misunderstanding.
Celestia looked over to her clock and was not thrilled with the
time. Later than she’d thought. That was no good, but
she’d still have enough time to get to the Ball if she
hurried. With a flick of her horn she yanked a small mirror from
her vanity and did her best to quickly magic away any signs of
her fatigue so as to seem as bright and sunny as her cutie mark
demanded. She did a pretty good job, looking fresh despite the
extreme shift she’d just had to pull and ignored due to
its insistence that she get some rest. Her sister would no doubt
understand if she didn’t attend, But Celestia would be
damned if she’d not at least make an appearance after all
the hard work Luna had put into organizing things.
Satisfied, she set aside the mirror, gave her mane and tail a
quick check via the larger vanity and finally trotted from her
room… only to be interrupted a short ways down the hall by
one of her assistants. The assistant dashed up, one of her
hooves overflowing with a stack of papers that she spilled here
and there in her distressed hurry and skidded to a stop in front
       of her princess.
“The fields!” she half shouted, a dramatic hoof
immediately finding its way to her forehead before Celestia
could even ask what was wrong, “They are dying! This
emergency message just arrived from one of our eastern barons!
His fields! They die! Not a drop has fallen for their thirsty
roots and leaves in well over a month’s time! Please,
Princess, we must act or surely the populace will starve!”
Celestia knew of this assistant. She was a relatively recent
hire that hadn’t grown to understand that when papers
arrived bearing the seals of certain offices many words took
different meanings. What was described as a life threatening
disaster for some was merely an inconvenience for others with
Celestia’s years training her to easily discern between
the two on a regular basis. This was one such example, the
broken wax on the top most layer of paper bearing half of a seal
       she knew too well.
“Graph, that letter came from Matrix,” Celestia
tried to explain clearly and with practiced calm but still
glanced past the excitable mare as this was stealing away yet
more minutes, “I’ve explained to you before that
Matrix thinks that the world is literally going to end whenever
his air conditioning strays from 70.”
“But the crops!” the assistant continued to plead,
using both hooves to hold her papers up with a desperate shake,
“They are drying up! We must act, your Highness,
       please!”
“He’ll get his rain,” Celestia noticed the
bags under the mare’s eyes. Seemed she’d been
getting even less sleep than her lately. She felt some pity for
the poor pony, this was always a pretty stressful new position
for pony’s to take before they got used to how stuff
       worked.
       “But they’re dying!”
“He’ll get his rain. We literally have a factory for
it and they follow their schedules to the letter. Send Matrix a
vague response saying we’re working on it and he
       won’t even notice the difference.”
“But-” but but but but but. he just didn’t
seem to get it. After about another twenty or so seconds of
failing to get the mare to relax Celestia just about had enough.
Side glancing over her shoulders to see if anyone was watching,
her horn lit up and in an instant a spell was cast over the mare
that strongly encouraged her to quit freaking out and address
how tired she was. Not necessarily a sleeping spell per say,
more of a calming one, but the results were all the same. Within
the next few moments the mare would chill out, forget about the
pointless papers she held and doze off on the spot while still
standing and affording Celestia another quiet moment to let out
a small sigh of relief. Shame the assistant wouldn’t get
to take part in the Ball, but this would be better for her in
       the long run, Celestia figured.
Before she could leave however, Celestia was met by one of her
overnight guards turning the corner and finding the two mares
just after one would fall asleep. He and Celestia would share an
awkward look over the now snoring mare standing in the middle of
the hall before the guard would roll his eyes and trot over to a
door leading to a guest room where he would open and hold it for
her to do her thing, that thing being levitating the now
unconscious mare onto the bed inside so as to allow her a proper
       nights rest.
“Thanks again, Gladius.” Celestia nodded to the
guard, this evidently being a far less rare occurrence around
here than one would assume as the guard shut the door and took a
       post beside it.
       “Anytime, your Higness.”
With that squared away, Celestia, finally free of all this
nonsense, made her way for the throne room and, regardless of
when she arrived, would go out of her way to avoid showing
herself to the gathering crowd before Luna had a chance to
address her guests and kick things off. It was her night after
all, literally and figuratively, and Celestia would hate to
divide the guests’ attention away from the proper host for
       the event.

This was so exciting! Avery twirled around in her pale pink and
white laced dress. She came as Ebony's date but he was a little
tied up with getting ready for the ceremony so her secondary
date was Glacier! Avery loved his mother and started growing a
wonderful bond with her the moment they met. She knew that the
older noctral was extremely proud of her son, and it showed.
       Tonight would be fun!
The two finally made their way to the throne room and sat in
reserved seats up front. Avery's freckled face beamed once she
saw Ebony, he looked so handsome! She sat down with Glacier and
gave Ebony a little wave with her wing.
Wonder if he's gonna do the stand up thing... The mare shook her
head at the very thought, she loved him dearly but his
jokes...eeeeeh. Either way, she'd laugh no matter what.

   DIR By: A. Capella Schwambart
       Date: September 19, 2017, 12:56 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
She is not going to be impressed with you showing up late!
Yes, his inner him is right. He'd said he would be there, and he
arrived late. Not being punctual is not an impressive thing to a
mare, he's quite sure. And he shouldn't have been late! He lives
in Canterlot, after all, and she's all the way in Ponyville. And
she can't just fly up! No, he's not going to be able to live it
down if she arrived before him.
Schwam walks through the door and feels so exposed. Usually when
he's around this many ponies, they can't see him for his
clothes. This time...well, they might see him because of his
clothes, if only because he's not dressed quite and nicely as
some of them. Not that he's big into comparing himself with the
high ponies, but it makes him stand out a bit more so than usual
here. No matter. He hovers a bit off the ground and takes his
glasses off so he can get a good look at the room. See if he can
       find...
Yes, she's there. The lovely mare he came to see is already
here, and already setting his heart aflutter. Gah, all she's
doing is sitting there and he can't even see all of her from
here. She's just so lovely. He's not even sure he should be here
       anymore.
But no, he said he'd come, and he came. Now he's just gotta...go
over there and sit next to her. There's an empty seat there,
just for him. But...she would not be impressed with his
lateness. And he couldn't even make up for it by at least
matching her beauty and dress. But no, he thinks as he looks
over his simple black two-piece suit over a white dress shirt.
The fanciest thing he had without needing to buy one special for
this, and it isn't super fancy. No vest with it, even. He
loosens the tie a smidge, too.
The necktie. Oh, that noose around his neck is just too much.
Invented by Tirek himself to torment the poor stallions who had
to wear it, he's sure! It's a green and gold patterned number
that was the only thing he bought specifically for tonight
because he realized he forgot to bring any ties when he moved
here. (What was he thinking, moving to Canterlot without any
ties?) He'd never been good with them, and tonight proved to be
no exception, and it was the sole reason he was as late as he
was. The rest of his wardrobe and hygiene cooperated. That
infernal cloth strip of incorrigibleness did not!
Well, you're too late to impress her with your punctuality, he
reminds himself, like kicking himself in the teeth. But maybe
you can impress her with your manners. Go on...Just sit as close
to the door as you can, and wait by it when everyone's getting
up, like a true gentlecolt. And you'll also have a good chance
to get a better look at her in that dress she's wearing. Hey,
that's a good idea. That's, like, good enough that I might have
thought of it. You did. Right.
Plan in mind, Schwam floats back down to the floor and walks
quickly to the closest open seat to the door, trying to get his
       breathing under control.

Pride isn't a strong enough word to describe how Glacier was
feeling. Her handsome baby boy (let's be honest, no matter how
old Ebony gets, he will always be her little Ebby) was now an
important stallion to defend the night. Tissues were pocketed in
her sparkling, sapphire dress. The silver bracelets on her front
hooves matched the crescent moon earrings that hung from her
ears. Looking next to her was the love of his life. A simple
mare who became Glacier's closest friend. Another she'd gladly
call her daughter; hopefully a title that Glacier hopes will be
more... official. But that's another time. For now, it was about
enjoying the beauty of the night. The wonders of the evening; a
celebration of the life she and her kind are accustomed to.
Glacier had to admit, part of her wanted to show up in her dress
uniform. Oh the decorations and medals on her chest would put
most guards here to shame. Regardless, the mare simply waits in
her seat for the ceremony to begin.

       Re: Throne Room
   DIR By: Clarity
       Date: September 19, 2017, 1:06 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Clair is asleep when Clarity comes dragging him in to the throne
room. He's half hanging over her back, with his rear and broken
hind legs resting on a hindcart. It's like one of those swivel
chairs with five wheels, but topped with a kind of basket seat
to hold his legs instead of a regular one. It's not especially
fancy, but it gets the job done. In consideration for his
condition, Clarity didn't go all out with prettying him up and
dressing him, just making sure his mane and tail weren't messy
and having him wear a long-sleeved button-down shirt of a light
violet hue that matches the crystal ball on his flank.
She, on the other hand, did nothing halfway on her looks. She
had her mane up in a fancy up-do, her tail curled just so. Her
face was perfectly powdered, primped, and polished, with her
deep red lipstick that matches her dress. The dress is a
fancy-schmancy sleeveless number with plenty of frills, and what
a skirt. The front of the skirt is just barely short enough not
to drag on the ground, while the back has a habit of doing
exactly that, and the whole thing has enough layers that future
archaeologists would be unearthing treasures from it for
decades. Currently, though, the skirt is held cinched up around
her legs more tightly with a black shiny belt so it doesn't get
tangled up in hooves or the wheels of Clair's cart. It makes it
slightly difficult to walk, but she'll make do until she has a
       chance to let it loose.
Once inside, Clarity finds a convenient seat on the edge of one
of the rows so she can keep Clair's cart nearby. No way is she
going to make him stay in it while they wait, though. She sits
down in front of it and gingerly pulls him the rest of the way
onto her back, probably mussing her tail some in the process. He
mumbles something about five more minutes but doesn't stir
beyond that, napping happily on her back as she takes their
       seat.

If he was here officially, he would have a herald announce his
full name and title as he strode regally into the throne room to
take his place of honor set apart from the riffraff. He would
talk politics with the bourgeoisie, probably even meet with the
princess herself. It would be a long night of high-status
       gathering and fooferaw.
Thank goodness PLO isn't here officially. Perhaps he's not cut
out for nobility. Sure, he enjoys the fawning of those lesser
than him and places of honor, but he can't stand dealing with
other "nobles". They all think they're so great. A cut above
him, that's for sure. Bah. But, he'd been "encouraged" to come
to this event, so come he did.
And he cut a rather splendid figure, if he did say so himself.
White dress shirt, black vest, black high-collared cape that's
longer than his regular one. With a blood-red bowtie, blood-red
lining on his vest, blood-red lining on his cape, the perfect
outfit to make an impression. Topping his jet-black mane is also
a small golden coronet, as befitting a pony of his station.
Without the fanfare and announcement that really is his due, he
still strides regally in to the throne room (much larger than
the one at home, he'll admit) and sits as near the front as he
can, aloof and proud, head held high.
And yes, he had discharged before coming so there's no fear of
       that incident repeating.

As more guests began to trot in, a taller, dark unicorn mare
enters the throne room. She had to admit, she was nervous.
Well... more like... terrified. The last time she was near a
large crowd, it didn't go again. Taking a deep breath, Nivalia
calms down. Her friends and family are here too, her rafts among
the ocean of faces. At least her attire was in order. A jade
green gown is etched with golden floral patterns throughout.
With her hair freely flowing with a little bounce, a red rose is
settled next to ear. It's a nice addition, but it serves her as
a reminder. Behind it was her scar she received from that
fateful night. Not again; this time, she'll be more careful. She
looks next to her to find her companion, her best security
adviser. Yea, she's in safe hoofs. "Hey Tinder, let's head over
and take a seat. Things are gonna get interesting." Despite her
smile, a thin tremble shakes her. Her nerves are still... tense.

Tinder sticks close to Niv as they enter the crowd, her ears on
a constant swivel as she watches for danger. Generally she
doesn't do crowds, especially not in an outfit like this,. Her
dress, made to cover her burns and store her pills,
unfortunately was not made for fighting in. The plain yellow
dress glowing lightly as she tries to adjust it with her magic,
listening to Niv as she does. "Sounds good, and don't worry, I
have your back.." She smiles back at her, trying her best to
comfort her friend, "I'm still not even sure how you convinced
me to come here, especially dressed like this." A light chuckle
escaping her lips as she leads Niv towards their seats.

He's late. As in 30 minutes late. As in he should've alreay been
sitting next to the Captain by now late. The unicorn's dress
uniform is squared away. His two rows of ribbons and single row
of medals rest on his chest as he tries to make his way through
the crowd. It would take longer than expected, but he makes it.
The lieutenant sits next to his fellow officer and takes a deep
       breath. "Hey, I'm-"
"Late." Ebony cuts in, his lowered tone spiced with agitation.
"Late..." Foxtrot whispers, "Is showing up during or after the
event. I had to check some things out. Besides, I wouldn't ever
miss out on something like this." He looks over to the front row
and spots Glacier. The two smile and wave to each other. "She
must be so proud... and have a sweater to give us."
Ebony chuckles, "Never hurts to have one. Niv will be here too
       from what I've heard."
The unicorn looks over to him "I'm guessing you've heard the
       rest?"
Coldsteel nods, "Yea I..." he pauses, a pang of guilt present in
his gaze. "I've informed the princess and guards on duty. We
       won't have an incident here."
"I hear ya," Foxtrot agrees. "Just looking for a fun night. We
can catch up again over a few drinks."
"I'll hold you to that, lieutenant."

Broadshield was quite surprised to have received an invitation
to an event like this. He had admitably been quiet an inactive
in recent times, all attributed to hard work within EQUINOX.
Seeing it as rude to not attend when he was invited, he made
sure to clear all of his plans and have all preparations in
place so that EQUINOX could still run smoothly in his absence.
As opposed to wearing his standard military uniform, he instead
opted for a dark gray suit and black tie, various military
medals and commendations adorning his suit. He considered also
wearing his EQUINOX patch on his suit but ultimately decided
against it. Maybe there would come a time in the future where he
could proudly wear and display his EQUINOX badge, a symbol
representing all he stood for. But perhaps another time.
Entering the room he salutes many of the guards, from one
soldier to another, before making his way towards the front of
the rows of seats and taking a seat at the furthest available
       seat to the front.
