Alrighty, looked like they were heading out. Haywire opted to
ride along inside the cart for the time being with a planned
exit and trot alongside later down the road to stretch his legs.
Once situated he pulled a sheet of folded paper coated in notes
and doodles that both he and Bubo began to study and discuss
among themselves, Bubo chirping his thoughts as Hay pointed out
specific lines and drawings and replied with enthusiastic nods,
asides and the occasional excited chuckle. If asked Hay would be
more than happy to share what was on it, no efforts being made
to keep the sketches and nonsensical sentences secret. They
seemed to be of the sheets of scales Bubo still wore on one of
his wings, though any further details would be difficult to
decipher for anyone not used to Haywire and his style of
       writing.

Merrilee bounces alongside the wagon as it rolls. Or, rather,
she bounces around, over, in front of, on top of, and behind it,
depending on what she feels like at any given moment, giving her
chub a real jiggly workout. But it did seem odd to her to be
traveling with ponies and not talking with them. Ah well. Such
it is with her being unable to talk unless stationary.
And the pony pulling the wagon, he has been helping plenty. Has
she said thank you enough to him? Has she...she doesn't even
know his name! How could she have forgotten that? But she
doesn't want to make him stop just to ask him that. Maybe she
could ask Haywire to ask for his name for her.
She hops around to the entrance of the wagon and jumps in,
dusting off her hooves. On her way to Haywire, she notices him
conversing with Bubo about something on a piece of paper. Now
what could that be? Getting closer and looking at it didn't
really help her comprehension, so she sits and scribbles out a
question asking what it is, forgetting the name quest for the
       moment.

Tungsten shows no reaction to Merrilee's bouncing, although it
does comfort him to have company that didn't expect a
conversation. He trots on at the same slow pace, giving hardly
any mind to his surroundings other than listening for abnormal
things and keeping his eyes on the trail. As Merrilee enters the
wagon and he's left alone, he once again drifts off in thought.

”Oh this old watchadoo?” Haywire started to answer, again
turning the paper to let Merry have a look see as he spoke,
“It’s what me and Bubo were tryin to get sorted before he got
romantic with your wagon.” Bubo chirped in a manner that
suggested disagreement, Haywire smirking and using a hoof to
fish out the scales he’d taken from Bubo’s wing earlier. He
offered it to Merry to examine, still just as damaged as it was
a short while ago, while Bubo extended the wing that still wore
       the other sheet.
“This is our hat for the juice makin ring. Sort of like them
panels you see around. Ours is more of a smushed design but is
hungrier than the others and needs special bends so we were
thinking it could maybe piggy back on wingdingies to keep them
from running empty. Out here we wanted to see how ugly it tipped
and dragged before making this paper scratch to toss together a
bucket and hold the overflow. We’re gonna have to do some work
before we can go for another do since that one got smashed.”
Bubo chimed in with a short string of chirps and whistles,
pointing a wing back at the paper while Haywire scratched just
under his goggles and shrugged, “I guess, but we’d need to fix
the cage. It’s too wobbly. Maybe wrap it? Anywho, Merry, it’s
just another skip towards a bigger job we’ve been thinkin about.
I can lay out more bits and pieces later in town if you wanna
hear, I just dunno if I should clutter the wagon and make a mess
for our friend pullin. You can turn over that sheet whenever you
feel too, still road to where we’re goin so no rush.”

Everything Haywire is saying goes sailing cleeeeeeeeear over
Merrilee's head, probably setting some kind of altitude record,
and it shows from her blank expression. She looks back at the
scribbly doodles again as he talks, thinking that perhaps with
the context of his speech the lines and stuff might arrange
themselves in some reasonable way, but if anything they just got
harder, square dancing all over the place in defiance of the
very idea of being pegged down by the Man...or Mare.
The one string of words she was able to sort-of-understand was
the one about a "juice making ring". A ring that makes juice?
What flavor juice? If that was what he was making, that was
something she could get behind. Maybe she could ask about that
later. Right now, though, she abandons the hoedown on Haywire's
notes to make her own in an attempt to get her name corrected.
[My naem is Merliere!] she writes, dotting the i with a heart,
because it's her writing and she'll do it her way! <3

"Merliere? Alrighty, I'll try not to jumble." Haywire promised
to do his best not to mistake her name again just as he shuffled
another pair of papers out of his bag and flicked them in his
hooves to straighten them out. He had done so at Bubo's urging,
his mechanical companion wishing to have them out for reference
as the two went about discussing the first set of plans they'd
been studying. With all three out he juggled them as best as he
was able though the awkward flipping and folding of paper that
followed was far less complicated and chaotic for him as it may
have appeared for anyone watching. He knew what he was doing.
Mostly. Maybe not entirely, but he would figure it out since
that was half the fun, wasn't it? Bubo started to take over
Haywire's attention as they all rolled down the road, the bird's
chirping keeping Hay focused on their work so they could figure
out some sort of strategy to work on when they arrived in town,
though Hay would still try to make time to answer any questions
or make room for casual chit chat with the others here and there
       should they desire it.

Merliere? Oh, she must have messed it up again. No bother,
though. She'd try again at some point. Maybe she could get,
like, printed cards with her name on them so she could be sure
she got it right. Or have somepony carve it into the back of her
slate. Or maybe Haywire himself would have an idea about it? If
he could pull off a juice-making ring, what else could he do?
The rest of the ride to Ponyville was largely slow, but not
necessarily tedious to her. She spent her time alternating
between bouncing around and on top of the wagon and conversing
with Haywire about things that made her head spin.
When they start approaching Ponyville, she dances a little
celebratory dance atop the wagon, then taps on the surface
closest to Haywire, hanging her head down over the edge of the
wagon. She smiles and waves to communicate that they were
nearing their destination. Was that the way she'd been going
before? Maybe. Does it matter? Probably not.

As Ponyville comes into view, Tungsten sticks to the path that
will go along the outskirts of town. He looks back, "No need to
worry about your stuff if you want to go into town, my boss
lives on the west side and there will be plenty of construction
noise you can follow to her house later today. We'll be building
a workshop on the property, among other things, so since our
carpenters will be in town we can put your wagon on the to-do
       list if you'd like."
"And uh," He'd not been nearby when Haywire introduced himself,
so he struggles for a name, "... if the tinkerer there is
interested, you and my boss seem to have similar interests.
Although you'd have to be patient with her possible frustrations
       at your dialect."

Hay's attention was easily grabbed by the enthusiastic heads up
from Merrilee and he needed only a quick few seconds to gather
up his stuff and put it back in his bags. Stepping on over to
best gain a view of the town, Hay took in the scenery and
listened in on his traveling companions one sided exchange. His
ears perked at the mention of a workshop being planned for
construction. A workshop would be perfect for his work for
obvious reasons, and if it was under construction he could even
try to earn an opportunity to borrow some of its space for his
projects by helping build it before heading back out to get back
to what he and Bubo had been doing. Would certainly go faster
than looking around for a suitable environment and scrap to work
with. Hay probably had a few little droidos he could wind up for
the construction site. Sometimes they followed instructions, but
more often they kind of banged into walls and fought each other
in glorious metal on metal combat.
       It would probably be fine.
At mention of possible communication issues, Hay was confused.
Dialect? Was he talking too fast? Maybe he'd been talking too
fast. He did that sometimes, so he'd need to keep that in mind
when asking about the shop. No problem there.
"Bubo!" Hay spoke, his bestest Bird buddy straightening up at
the mention, "Recon!" With a small salute of a wing, Bubo took
back into the air and flew off into town to scout things out and
possibly narrow down exactly where the workshop mentioned would
be. Unfortunately his report looked like it would be late to
arrive since, from where they were, the trio would be able to
spot Bubo's distant and sudden decent towards the ground as he
       once again locked up.
"... I could have to back alley on the way..." Hay mumbled as
his eyes tracked Bubo up until he disappeared behind some
houses, "But I hear ya. Your lead likes to cobble too? Would be
great to spy some designs. Oh, and thanks for the pull here, by
the by, Mr... Um..." Well this was odd. haywire was not one to
forget a name so quickly, especially since he'd been in such
close proximity to the stallion ever since they'd met. He sat
down and tapped his chin in thought as he tried to remember the
       stallion's name.
... He wanted to say... Milk Dud? Nah, that didn't sound quite
       right...

West side, and that's where her stuff will be. Great! Merrilee
nods jigglingly and hops down from the wagon even more so. She
could go and meet her mysterious proxy benefactor who the pony
seems to work for. But first, she's low on sweets, and now would
be a great time to do that.
She shouldn't go without thanking them first, though, and she
can't do that without their names. Haywire and Bubo, but she
never got the large stallion's name. She scribbles out a message
on her slate to ask him, then shows it to him.
       [Waht is, rouy name'?]
