Ebony chuckles when he hears her. His smile is devious, "Oh this
isn't the surprise. That's coming right up. But for now, take a
seat. There's some glasses in there for the champagne as well.
Can you pour us some?" Coldsteel positions the sphere, and what
looks like a ring shaped base, onto the table. Lining it up, he
sighs with satisfaction once everything is set. "Perfect! All
done, well... almost." Trotting to the edge of the large window,
he grabs the curtain and pulls it over the windows. The dark
covers are contrasting to the white stars and constellations
etched into them. Once the windows are covered, he sits back
down next to her. "Now we're set."

Avery shakily pours the expensive looking champagne into the two
long glasses, Pull it together Avery... She carefully sets the
bottle back down with her wings, staring as Ebony continues his
work.
"S-So this isn't the surprise yet? But it's so...grand!" She was
still in minor disbelief but had to admit she was excited and
anxious for what was to come.

Coldsteel gets comfortable and extends his wing around Avery.
"Trust me. You haven't seen anything yet. Now, I will ask for
the sake of your surprise and just overall safety that you close
your eyes and fills back your ears." Once she does, the noctral
reaches over and taps the sphere. It spins. Suddenly, it
drastically increases it's speed. A loud whirring sound goes
off. Finally a flash of light and a pop is heard before going
silent.
When Avery would open her eyes, she would be met with a sight
that makes Canterlot pale in comparison. There they were. Ebony,
Avery, the couch, table, crates, all there. The room they're in
though is gone. Instead, she would find themselves on the
surface of the moon itself! The city is replaced with a view of
the world they live in. Oceans, continents, clouds all slowly
and peacefully drift in silence. Ebony himself is still taken
aback by it all. The sheer splendor and majesty of the view knew
no equal. The noctral picks up his glass and stirs it around as
he awaits his companion's reaction.

"O-Okay?" Avery did as she was told and closed her eyes.
Initially, she jolted a smidge when the pop went off. Her eyes
opened slowly...
Avery let out a loud gasp, "Oh my goodness!" What is... She was
startled, but the nerdy side in her wanted to know how whatever
Ebony did worked.
She looks over at him, "...You really went out of your way..."

"It was worth it," Ebook by says as he rummage through the
desserts crate. He plucks up a chocolate coated blueberry and
pops it in his mouth. "Plus, I have to admit..." The noctral
chuckles, "This was a little bit for myself too. I haven't done
this in a long time. I still get lost in this view, it really
helps me put things into perspective. Oh, let's uh..." Coldsteel
places all of the treats and drinks onto the table for easy
access. "Much better. Please, help yourself."

Avery peeks back into the dessert crate and picks up a chocolate
truffle. After plopping it into her mouth she immediately goes
back and peeks in again. "The view is quite beautiful..." After
eating a chocolate covered strawberry, Avery scoots closer to
the noctral.
"This is amazing Ebony, nopony has ever done anything like this
for me before." She giggles nervously before turning to him, "I
uh...I wish I had something to give to you."

Ebony extends his wing and wraps it around Avery's shoulder.
"Your time and company are more than enough for me. We can be
here, on the moon looking out onto the world, but you're still
the most stunning sight I've seen." He drinks a little more
champagne before eating another berry. The captain's cheesy
flattery causes him to blush and turn away.

Avery instinctively nestled into Ebony, her face turns red at
the noctral's compliment. "T-Thank you...that's so sweet."
With her free wing she took a sip of her champagne, normally she
wasn't a fan but this was unlike any champagne she's ever had.
It was bubbly with a hint of fruit, and heavenly.
The mare sets down her drink and turns to him, "I think you're
really special Ebony, you're truly something else." A sweet
smile appears on her face, she sets the tip of her wing on top
of his.

Ebony full on blushes when he feels Avery's wing on his. "I feel
the same about you too, Avery. I..." He takes a deep breath and
eats another strawberry. "With work, I never have been able
to... know someone as intimately as I have with you." The
Noctral's gaze out onto the planet becomes more sincere. "I'm
always... 'Ebony the Guard, Captain Coldsteel,' or just that
scary noctral. But you... you just see me for who I am. Just a
stallion trying to the best he can with what he's got. That
means so much to me." Taking a risk, Ebony reaches over and
places his hoof on hers, "Avery... you mean so much to me."
Coldsteel looks over to her, his blue eyes matching the oceans
and seas so far away. "Do you think... with... how we feel...
that we could be something more than friends?" Honestly, this
was the most difficult thing Ebony had ever done. Fighting
demons? Just shoot them. Dragged into Tartarus? Jump back
through and more shooting. This? Well, the Captain was certainly
out of his element, and it shows.

Avery freezes slightly at Ebony's proposition, but she couldn't
deny that she had strong feelings for him. With their short time
together they grew closer without hesitation. The mare blushes
more before choosing her next words, "I...I have never felt this
way about anypony before...at all. And...I would really like if
we became...more than just friends."
Her breathing picks up and her face starts to warm up in
response. Something about being with him just awakened a passion
inside of her that she didn't know existed. Before Ebony could
even respond, Avery decides to take a bold chance of her own.
The mare leans forward and gently places her wing on Ebony's
face before leaning in, giving him a passionate kiss.
