Morgayne was knocked back as the other pony ran into her yet
again. "My thoughts exactly," she fired back before she
recognized the other thief. Her dark eyes noted the daggers, she
her face shifted into a glare. She didn't know what she disliked
about this pony most: that she must be practically blind to keep
running into Morgayne like she did, that she took Morgayne's
bag, or that she actually had the audacity to pull weapons on
Morgayne. All three thing set the selkie off, actually.
But she forced her glare to fade and a mocking, sweet smile to
take its place. "Of course," she said calmly. "Just give my bag
back first, and then I'll give yours back."
She half-hoped the pony would refuse the suggestion. The
normally diplomatic selkie was itching for a fight, and it would
be so easy to make this thief helpless and lost in illusions.
That way, Morgayne could leave with both bags and maybe get to
keep something for herself for once.

"Yeah okay, let me give you the bag so you run off with both.
Not today sister. I worked hard for that gem and I'm not letting
some scrub thief take that from me. I could care less about your
dumb gems." She lowered the daggers. "Look I don't want to get
messy. I can make your nightmares come to life... and I really
don't want to do that. Just give me my bag and we can both be on
our way."

Morgayne couldn't keep the sweet smile at the sarcastic familial
term. Only selkies were her sisters, and every last one of those
held disdain or a sickening amount of pity towards Morgayne. How
dare this stupid pony use such a term!
"And here I was thinking you were as stupid as you looked,"
Morgayne remarked coldly. One eyebrow rose. "Oh really? Well,
threaten all you'd like, but you are not getting this bag back
until I get mine first. You don't like my terms?"
"Then come and take it."

Lucid grit her teeth as her eyes glowed even stronger as well as
her horn. Two pools of blackness formed in front of Lucid as
shadowy creatures emerged. They were all completely black. They
were tall and had golden claws. One arm was stretched to their
face covering half of it. The other half had blood red glowing
eyes. The second eye showed through the creatures claws a
little. Their legs were still attached to the ground where a
pool of darkness was below, however, they walked as if they were
dragging themselves. They dragged their free hand as well as the
long yellow claws starched against the floor. The two figures
made loud, painful breathing sounds as well. They were just
illusions. Lucid was not interested in summoning real monsters
to attack this mare... yet.
"Meet my two nightmares. They are just going to take that bag
from you and once I have it, you can have your bag back. Does
that sound fair?"

Morgayne's eyes widened and her ears went back as the creatures
emerged from the blackness, but she stood her ground and forced
herself to think about the situation logically. Either the
terrifying creatures were real, or they were not. If they were
real, Morgayne could use her selkie magic on them. Her illusions
had worked on every creature she had ever tried to deceive. And
if they were illusions, then they couldn't harm Morgayne.
"Nice try, thief. What, too afraid to take it yourself?"
Morgayne said mockingly, thoroughly angry at the other equine.
Tearing her gaze away from the nightmares and pretending to look
unconcerned, she nonchalantly inspected one hoof. "Now, I've
been playing nice. Do not make me step up my game... Just give
me my bag back."

"I think you are the one who is afraid." The rogue giggled
lightly. She gave it some thought before nodding. "It seems we
are at an impasse then. We each have what the other needs. I
think fighting in this alley will attract some unwanted
attention" Orchid responded. She took a step forward as her two
nightmares stopped. She stepped through them. "Let's meet in the
middle then. We both throw our bags in the middle. We both
approach slowly at the same time, make sure we grab the right
bag, and both head out on our way. No magic, no games, no funny
business. No mess."

Moragyne glared at Lucid for calling her out on her fear. The
sweet, and now rather sly, smile quickly returned however. "Very
well," she said calmly. She slowly started making her way
towards the other pony.
"No magic, no games, no funny business," Morgayne repeated as
she walked forward.

The two nightmares stayed back and just looked as Lucid
approached the middle. She had the bag levitating by her side.
When she reached Morgayne, she levitated it a little closer.
"Alright let me see the inside of the bag clearly."
As she said that she showed Morgayne that all the gems were
still there in hers.

Morgayne peered over the contents of the correct bag, refraining
from trying to grab it then and there. She told herself to have
patience... if all went well, she'd be walking away with both
bags.
"Of course," she said, and pulled the bag off her back, opening
it and holding out with one hoof, so the other pony could
clearly see that the gem was still inside. She only did so for a
moment however, lunging forward just as her fellow thief was
hopefully leaning forward. Morgayne aimed to grab Lucid's
foreleg, eyes narrowed in concentration as she channeled just
the right type of magic in her touch.
It was a dirty trick, to be sure... particularly if Lucid truly
didn't want a mess. But Morgayne was angry, and that anger made
her petty and bitter.
If she had been successful in touching Lucid and sending her
into a trance, the rogue would find herself in what appeared to
be a lovely forest. Sun shone through the leafy canopy, casting
dancing shadows across the forest floor. A warm breeze blew
through the trees, but something about it smelled... wrong. It
smelled a bit like wildflowers, but that very scent seemed there
to cover a more putrid, dark smell.
Suddenly, Lucid would hear a low growl as the putrid smell
increased hundredfold. If she turned around, she would find a
positively enormous wolf there. Hints of white bone shone
through tears in its bare, furless flesh. Flies buzzed in a
cloud around it, and blood dripped from it's yellow fangs. Its
eyes were green flames in its skull. More growls would echo off
the tree trunks and more huge, undead wolves gathered to
surround Lucid.
Morgayne was an expert at crafting the most beautiful paradises,
but this time... this time she had created a nightmare.

Lucid was caught completely off guard as her surroundings
changed. She looked around taking in the scenery. She chuckled
and was actually quite impressed with what Morgayne had done.
However, when the undead wolves appeared, she'd be lying if she
said she wasn't disturbed. However, she focused her energy into
returning her mind and vision to the real world. She got up from
off the ground slowly and shook her head. "Very funny.
Impressive I actually should say. I hadn't been scared in a long
time. You know... I should be annoyed that you just tried to
pull that on me, but I think you and I might be similar in some
way."
She began to cast her own spell which the alley floor was filled
with a bright purple magic aura with symbols. The magic rose and
created a nearly transparent wall. If everything was working
well, Morgasyne would suddenly feel incredibly drowsy.
