Asher watches as Ebony opens the door to the archives and stays
silent for the time being. *way too tense in here*
He moves over to Ebony and Tinder when called, he slightly
overhears words spoken between the two but doesn't pay
attention. He looks at all of the books and documents, they're
dusty and a lot are torn. He picks up a book that was sitting on
a nearby table, "This place is amazing, you can practically feel
the history in the air!" He gets overly enthusiastic at this
point, embracing the sights before him.

Rogue and her fireteam follow Ebony to the door and stand guard
as he opens the door in. After Ebony opens up the way in, the
soldiers take their positions. Wyx and another pony armed with
EQUINOX standard issue ACR take guard at the door. Both of them
flipping over empty tables on their sides and setting up their
guns on their makeshift cover. The other 3 soldiers are walking
through the library, admiring the sights while patrolling the
area. Rogue gets to work on SITREP. "Rogue to all Shade teams.
Give me a SITREP from outside." she says in a hushed tone. If
anyone were close enough, they'd hear another pony respond.
"Shade 3-1 to Rogue. All quiet out here. Area is locked down.
Nothing's coming in or out. Over." the voice responds. "Rogue to
all Shade teams. Affirmative, give me a SITREP if something
changes. Over and out." she says before getting up and trailing
the civilians. "Alright. All quiet outside. What now Captain?"
she asks.

Coldsteel barks out, "Everyone hold their position for now!
We're going to narrow down the search area and reposition the
perimeter after. Rogue, keep in contact with the outside guard
every ten minutes and keep an ear out for us. Tinder, Asher and
I will begin our search." The noctral removes a scrap of paper
and examines it. He replies to Tinder in a whispered tone. "I
know your concerned Tinder, and I'll be addressing their threats
after we're done here. But we need the ponies who specialize for
these situations. And if anyone ever thinks about hurting you,
they have to get through me first. Trust me, I'll keep you safe.
I just ask you keep me safe to, alright?" He gives her a smirk
and wink before passing the paper to Asher. "Asher, the book
were looking for is called 'Tenebrarum Mundi' which translates
to 'Cosmic Darkness'. I'd assume this would fall under an
astrological wing of the library, but you're the most proficient
in this environment. Can you lead us in the right direction?"

Tinder sticks close to Ebony, smiling as he says that he'll
protect her, "I'll do my best as long as I'm around. I won't let
anything hurt you." Her knives lower a little as she makes sure
they are all sharp enough. Being surrounded by guards isn't
exactly helping her stay focused, but having Ebony there is
keeping her grounded. Her horn sparks oddly occasionally, but it
doesn't seem to be affecting her magic, she did take way too
many pills on the way here which doesn't help her magic.

Asher takes the paper from Ebony and reads over it with a close
eye, "Tenebrarum Mundi..." He thinks for a second recalling
anything he can on subject. "It almost sounds familiar...but
according to what is already known about this research I can
assume the book we're looking for will have a good chance of
looking out of the ordinary." Asher turns toward the multitude
of shelves, and what seems like an endless amount of books.
"Notes and information from Starswirl the Bearded, especially
given this subject...it might even be hidden for all we know.
Why would such a book be out in the open for anypony to take?"
Asher stops and takes a mental breather, he observes the library
carefully. "There's a chance it might be in the Astrological
Wing....but that would be obvious. I'm not saying it won't be in
here, but we might have to think more creatively. If you had a
book of any sort of importance or value...where would you keep
it..." He walks towards the Astrological wing, but not looking
directly on the shelves, Asher scans the area taking in what he
can.

A few moments pass by, before all the soldiers, remaining
unidentified to the civilians converge on a central part of the
room they are in. "What the hell's so important about a book?
They don't need to be picky, there's like a thousand books
here." one soldier says in a hushed voice to the others. "Well
obviously we wouldn't be here on behalf of our EQUINOX brothers
and sisters if it wasn't important. I heard that we've been
given this mission by the Boss himself, Commander Broadshield."
a second pony says. Rogue looks over to the 5 and says. "All I
know is that we got this mission from Szar. Whether he was the
one who gave the mission, or just a messenger for Broadshield, I
don't know." she says.
"Szar scares the crap outta me." the first pony says, before
being joined in agreement by the other soldiers. "I heard
stories about him before he went with EQUINOX. Was apparently a
mercenary operating near Calais. Freelance too. This was way
before the incident there though." Wyx says. "Apparently he was
a lot more ruthless and violent. You, Broad and the founding
members of EQUINOX tracked him and eliminated the group he was
with, and gave Szar a new home here. That true Rogue?" Wyx asks.
Rogue looks over to them, eyes indicating that she was thinking
of something else mutters "Yeah... its true. Had a troubled life
before he joined us, and he's still working through it today.
Don't worry about it." she says to the soldiers.
"Can't believe the government wants EQUINOX to be quiet. Its a
load of bull. We've been funded to act as another military
branch, and now they want us to keep quiet while they make sure
no one snitches? While they're doing that, we're being turned
into the government's errand ponies. EQUINOX can handle this. We
should be tracking down enemies to the crown, not looking for
dusty old books in an old library." the first pony says. "The
government still considers us to be more of a secretive military
branch. Royal, Lunar and Crystal Guard are the face of
Equestrian Military, but we're the body, the ones that keep it
running behind the scenes. The government wants to keep their
cards close to their chests, so they don't want information
about us being leaked." Rogue comments. "EQUINOX temporarily
stands down while the heat cools off, while we do missions in
their place." she adds "Alright, enough lounging around, back to
work." she says, each guard going off back to their old
positions.

Outside of the castle, the sky turns cloudy, the sun blocked
out, leaving the air cool to the touch. A spider makes its way
along the thistle of the tree before stopping and looking into
the clearing of the castle. Is many eyes count the soldiers
there before scurrying off into the darkness. Soon, more would
appear, crawling from whatever crack, crevice, or hole that
surrounded the castle. Each one looked at one of the guards,
just looking, waiting. Their abdomens rub along the surface,
moving the strands of silk that just run along into the unknown.
They go unnoticed, and remain still to keep it that way.
Meanwhile, the archive itself only echoes with the activity of
those inside. Asher's search would lead him to the far end of
the archives, to a section where the books themselves are sealed
in a see through shelf. Ancient locks good these texts as
ancient runes are found etched into the glass. A preventative
measure against the effects of time and weather. The books
inside these shelves look rather new. As does the lock sealing
them in.
"Here we go. This looks like the right place to start
searching." Ebony looks over his shoulder and let's out a sharp
whistle, alerting Rogue and her team to his position.

Asher stood in front of three large bookshelves, all of which
were sealed with a thick glass panel. He observed the shelves
looking closely to which one would hold the book they were
looking for. No. No. Maybe? Taking a closer look at one of them
he saw a navy blue book with a pattern that looked closely like
stars on the cover and side. Asher chuckled to himself, "Well
well well, if I had to guess it would be this one." He poked at
the glass in front of said book. Asher grabbed the handle to
open the bookshelf, the door not budging when he pulled at it.
"Of course it won't open, here I thought getting a long lost
Starswirl the Bearded book would be easy. Oh silly me."
He scanned the door with his magic just in case, "Well it
doesn't have a protection spell on it, or a containment one..."
Looking down he noticed an obvious lock keeping the door sealed.
"Wow. I made that way more complicated than it had to be." Asher
laughed at himself, looking at the others. "Soooooo. Anypony
know how to pick a lock?"

The team look up as the day grows overcast. "Was it supposed to
rain today?" one of the ponies asks. Before anyone can say
anything, a loud whistle pierces the silence, and the soldiers
move out. They eventually regroup with the others, 3 ponies
standing guard, the impatient pony, another soldier and Rogue
going to the group. "Alright, what did we find?" Rogue says,
investigating the lock. "Simple enough. Fuse, take off the
lock." she says to one of the ponies next to him. He steps
forward, bringing out a small case, filled with lock-picking
tools. "Lock-picking is a delicate action. It takes time effort,
and fin-" the pony says before being cut off by another pony.
"Screw the lock." he says, pulling out his pistol and simply
shooting the lock off. The bullet shatters the locker, while the
inside of the case is left untouched. No shrapnel even touches
the book. "You can thank me later. Lets go, we have our book."
he says before joining the other soldiers standing guard.
*Sigh* "Glaz you damn idiot. You could've destroyed the book."
Wyx mutters. "We're gonna have a talk later Glaz." Rogue says,
to which Glaz simply replies "Yes Ma'am." before turning his
attention back to what he was doing before. "Well, we have our
book, if that's it then we're off." Rogue says before pulling
out her earpiece. "Rogue to all Shade teams. Give me a SITREP on
outside. We're heading out. Over" she says before getting ready
to leave.

Although not as discreet as he would've wanted, the lock was
off. He looks over to Glaz, keeping a mental note for later.
Turning back to the shelf he was in shock. There was another
lock; not just another lock, but much more elaborate, intricate.
"What the hay?" The captain terrors over to the book case next
to their intended one. It still has a basic lock holding it in
place. With the butt of his gun, he smashes it off. Almost
instantly, another lock materializes out of thin air. Like the
first one, it becomes more detailed in its design. "Well how
about that? Figures something securing the work of Starswirl
wouldn't be so easy to remove. We're gonna need a gentler touch.
Tinder, think you can work your magic?"
In a far corner of the archive, a small spider crawls along the
walls. Like the ones outside, it's also connected to something
in the darkness through a webbed string. Scurrying along, it
awaits for further instruction. Outside, thunder starts to roar
in the distance, a light rain begins to set in.
