       - cutie mark: candle light
       Talent:
Opal can manipulate any source of light within a range of 10
meters from her. She can alter a source's brightness from a
level as blinding as a camera flash to something so dim, it's
       barely visible.
Her main (and favorite) use of her magic is an ability she calls
"Flashing Lights." She makes a light flicker from dim to bright
in a rapid pace, causing disorientation among those within her
range. However, this ability uses a lot of her magic, so she
likes to use it only as a way of defense.
       History:
Opal's story begins in the dazzling city of neon lights, Las
Pegasus. The very city that inspired her magical talent, and
what made her the unicorn she is today. Opal was born into a
wealthy family, with a father who owns a hotel casino deep in
the middle of all the hustle and bustle. Every day and every
night before bed time she would pay a visit to her father's
casino. Fascinated by all the bright colors of the game machines
and neon signs, it felt like heaven on earth to her; assuming
heaven housed dozens of agitated ponies losing their bits, blue
dragons ruining the fun, and drunks being thrown out the door.
To Opal, it was as though nothing could go wrong.
But that thought all changed when the entirety of Las Pegasus
suddenly went black. All the buildings, street lights, and
anything that gave light had all gone out. Perhaps it was an
accident. Maybe the city was under attack. Regardless of the
reason, everypony ran wild in fear and scrambled for the exit in
hopes the lights would return. Like everypony, Opal also
sprinted for the exit, but the enormous gathering of ponies made
was too much to handle for her little filly body.
Overcome by a trembling fear, Opal yelled called for her father
or anyone that can help. Sadly, she recieved no response,
leaving her alone like a dead lion laying in the middle of
stampeding bulls. Despite all the chaos, imagery of lights began
to fill her thoughts. Lit candles, lightbulbs, and the like all
quickly shooing away her panic. It was at that moment Opal felt
a tiny spark at the tip of her horn. Upon noticing the bright,
pink speck float down from her horn, the display of the slot
machine she sat next to began to flicker dimly. Two adjacent
machines followed suit. Aside from the dozens of questions that
sprouted from her mind, she was perplexed at what she is
witnessing. Are the city lights slowly returning to their full
glory? Or, after connecting the dots, was this the cause of her
       possibly newfound magic?
It wasn't long until Opal's dad found her in between all the
ruckus. If the slot machine's light had not been on, knowing her
whereabouts would have been near impossible. The city lights
eventually returned, and everypony went on with their normal
lives. But the one thing Opal happily got out of that
catastrophie was her new ability to control light.
Fast forward to present day, and Opal now leads a new life in
Baltimare. There, she is thriving in a new career in technology.
Inspired by the casino machines she loved as a filly, she dreams
of designing something as grand as them.
