In Dreams

There was a low chatter from below as Lucid sat on the edge of
her tall clock tower. The distant fireworks in the air flashed
gently before her eyes as she just took in the atmosphere that
she created. Orchid loved it. She listened to the sounds of her
clock tower ticking as it calmed her allowing her to dream a bit
more.

Ivory hums softly as she trots down the banks of the Everfree
River, searching for some rather elusive herbs to replenish her
diminishing stock. One in particular, however, was a
right-pain-in-the-flank to locate and identify, much less
properly pick and prune. The herb in question presented itself
as a brightly colored flower- poisonous if one were to
accidentally eat it, but its roots were well known for its
fantastic healing properties. Therein lies the trouble; how do
you pick the flower without damaging the roots? With a sigh,
Ivory presses on alongside the river's slope, keeping her eyes
glued to the ground for any sign of her quarry. Even the mist
around the river, growing ever more dense, didn't seem to deter
the mare from her mission. Ivory simply sticks close to the
ground, gradually travelling downstream, until... She spots one.
With a cheesy smile, Ivory practically hops on top of the
flower, humming once more as she digs into the dirt around its
base to extract it whole.
"Well, well... That wasn't so hard," Ivory croons to herself,
tucking the flower into her pouch. "I only need to find a couple
more and I should be good for--" The Noctral looks up, and where
she expected dense mist and fog, lay a sprawling meadow at the
foot of a humble town. Fireworks rain down in the distance,
illuminating a prestigious, large clock-tower near its center,
like a watchful, silent protector.
Ivory's jaw literally drops at the sight, frozen in wonder as
she takes it all in. She knew that the Everfree contained many,
many secrets, but... Surely she must be mistaken? The mare
blinks, moving slowly across the meadow to get a better look at
the town, or what she thought was a town, at least. Perhaps
Ivory had botched one of her concoctions, and this was all just
a crazy trip? "Meadow-grass seed... Bell flower stem... Blue
lily petals... Dragon roots... No, dragon bell roots? Hmm..."

Lucid felt something. Somepony was here.
She teleported off her clock tower and in front of the new
arrival. She levitated herself a few feet above the unfamiliar
pony.
"Hello, I see you've made it to my city. May I help you?" Orchid
tilted her head.

"...Bell dragon roots? Bell dragon... bell? Ooohhh, I always get
this one mixed up!" Ivory softly pawed at the ground in thought,
but nearly jumps with a start as a voice reached out to her.
"ROOT DRAGON BELL!" she exclaims, stepping back in bewilderment
as she cover her mouth, followed by a rather shy, muffled
giggle. "Oh, uh, my apologies, miss, uh..." It took the Noctral
a moment to realize the voice's owner was levitating above her.
"Oh! Hello~" the mare beams, taking a couple steps forward again
as she looks up at her. "I was just looking for some Glow
flowers is all. They like to grow along this bank, but I seemed
to have stumbled... here. Where is here? OH, where are my
manners? My name is Ivory Star~"

Lucid giggled. This one seemed harmless.
"I think you may have stumbled too far down the river then."
She eyed Ivory. "My name is Orchid but I am also known as Lucid.
Welcome to the City of Nightmore!" She levitated aside to give
her a better view. The river continued just a little further to
the town.
"Or the City of Clarus. That's what others like to call it. I'm
not sure if you heard of this place before. I like to just call
it my dream. Which is what this place is." (done)

Ivory blinks, casting her gaze across the city as she followed
the river's path beyond its horizon. She pauses, canting her
head back and forth as she simply tried to make sense of it all.
The only structure she knew that lay hidden within the confines
of the Everfree was the old castle of the two sisters. Surely
somepony would have noticed a whole hidden city... right?
Perhaps the two were related?... No...
"Clarus? Like the song, Elysium Clarus?" The mare blinks again,
now fitting the word "dream" into the equation. "No... I can't
say that I have. Should I? I mean, I've been up and down this
river many times, and right now I'm trying to convince myself
that I didn't ingest the wrong part of a flower and taking a
crazy trip."

"It's just a name I thought of for it." Lucid laughed again "You
aren't hallucinating trust me. I am very real. So is this town.
I am not surprised that you haven't heard of this place
actually. Though we haven't had someone accidentally stumble
here in a long time. Usually ponies know where they are going
when they come here." Lucid landed in front of Ivory. The ones
that knew where her city was usually came to try and stop her.
However, this noctral did not seem like she had any intention to
get in Lucid's way. At least she hoped for Ivory's sake. "Would
you like to stay for a bit? I can show you around."

"Oh, so other ponies know this place?" Ivory glanced around
again, now looking behind her and up towards the sky. "So, like,
some sort of super duper special secret place?" The Noctral was
almost giddy with excitement, like she just got accepted into an
exclusive club. "Sure!~ I'd love to stay for a bit. I don't have
anything to do until morning, in which case, is sleep."

"Secret for now..." Orchid changed the subject as she took
Ivory's hoof. The two were surrounded by bright and beautiful
particles. After more gathered and flew around them they
suddenly reappeared on the west side of the town by a large
stage. There was a low chatter from other ponies, though they
were ponies she put in herself.
"This is a world of happiness and peace. Endless festivals and
fun."

Ivory couldn't help but ooh and ahh as the particles surround
the pair, donning a rather joyful smile as the Noctral is
reminded of the fireflies back home. What she didn't expect,
however, was to be teleported inside of the town as she nearly
lost her footing due to the sudden relocation. The mare regains
her composure with a giggle, but falls silent as she gazes out
and studies her new location. "This is amazing," Ivory nearly
whispers, taking a couple steps out to get a better look at the
stage, and then the crowd. "Happiness, peace, festivals, and
fun..." The word "festivals" made her ears twitch, another smile
tugging at her lips as she imagines herself on that stage. "What
kind of festivals? I hold one every year in Ponyville, but it's
so hard to get a decent turnout at times." Ivory pauses, tapping
her chin. "Although that's partly my fault because it's always
the middle of the night." With a sigh, the mare turns back to
Orchid, still glancing every which way to take in her
surroundings.
