Morgayne's ears perked up as Sadowi's personality- or what she
had seen of it- once again became evident. "I want nothing of
the sort. I have seen much more frightening things than you,
Sadowi," she said with a small, tentative smile.
"I'm not entirely sure why I stopped you. Call it instinct. I
saw a creature I recognized, a possible friend, and didn't want
him to get away. But-"
Her eyes, flicking around as she tried to locate what to say,
suddenly caught sight of the moon. And Morgayne suddenly grew
very pale, her ears plastered back against her head, her eyes
wide. "No.." she whispered. "The time... the time! I have to go.
I'm sorry. I shouldn't have stopped you. I did not realize how
late it was getting! I have to leave. Now." She started to
rapidly back from Sadowi, gaze darting this way and that.
Her calmness and eloquence were gone, replaced by ill-concealed
terror.

"Gee, thanks. That's awfully thoughtful of you," he drawled.
When watching her suddenly clam up and run away with wild
abandon, concern and mirth battled for control of how he would
have reacted, and the more natural but less proper of the two
easily won; he could take a hint. "Wow, even I can make a better
excuse than that. I love you too, Morgayne, see you later."
Looking back at the closest road sign, his legs began searching
for the next one, going in a direction one of the arrows pointed
towards, and following the metal placards attached to the top of
metal posts he made his way to 248 Hoofshire Lane. A shroud of
eerie silence trailed in his wake, for there were no crowds, no
yelling, just quiet.

Normally, Sadowi's parting words would have bothered Morgayne,
but she had bigger things to think about now. Making sure she
still had her saddlebags, she ducked down another alley and
disappeared into the night.
