       Gilded Sapphire

All is quiet in the Twelfth Lunar Ward in the Canterlot General
Hospital. This ward doesn’t often get visitors. Comatose ponies
lay on several beds in two neat rows. Heart monitors beep
quietly, indicating slow, steady heartbeats. On the far bed on
the left side of the ward, near the the room’s only window, a
light grey crystal pony lies peacefully. Her wavy,
sapphire-colored mane is spread over the pillow, and her eyes
are closed. A breathing tube and IV are attached to a ventilator
and IV bag respectively, keeping the pony alive in her comatose
state. Her many injuries have healed over the course of the
several months she has been in the hospital, but she has yet to
wake. At the base of the bed, hanging on a hook, is a clipboard
       with the pony’s information.
