Tinder watches as the strip absorbs her magic, glad that it
actually seems to be working. A smile plastered on her face
until he picks up the gun to shoot it, backing up a few paces.
As soon as the first shot rings out she backs up more, dropping
to the floor and covering her ears as the next few happen. It's
not a sound she likes, its connected to so many bad memories
that it scares her, it's a sound she never wanted to hear again.
She doesn't even seem to hear Ebony's question, trying to
prepare herself for the next shot.

He turns around when he doesn't hear an answer. "Tinder?" The
smile fades once he sees her in the corner. "Damn..." The
captain places the shotgun down and walks over to her, sitting
down as he extends his wing over her. His voice is soft and low,
"Hey. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed you'd be ok with that.
There may be more of that in the future. I hope there isn't, but
that's something I can't promise. Tinder, are you sure about
this? About coming with us?"

Tinder flinches a bit as she feels his wing drape over her,
taking a couple slow breaths before nodding. "I'm sure.. I'll be
fine with it. It's just with all the guards around and I'm still
struggling with putting the attack out of my mind.. I guess I'm
just on edge right now, I'll get over it. I haven't reacted like
that to a gun shot in a long time, it's just been a hard week. I
can handle it though, I promise it won't happen again."

Ebony retracts his wing, "Alright, if you say so." He gets up
and retrieves the strips and shotgun, making sure it's empty
before proceeding. "Let's head back to my office, I gotta grab a
map of the forest that will lead us to the castle. As he exits
the range, he keeps he door open for her before leading her back
to the office.

Tinder nods a few times and takes a breath, slowly standing up
and following behind him as they walk. "Sorry about that, I
really didn't mean to respond like that.." Her ears twitching
back and forth to make sure there are no gaurds around that know
her. "So, does my record being cleared count for future
offences? Should I be extra careful about things that I... need
to do, that are, well, less then legal?"

Ebony sits at his desk and cleans up the small amount of clutter
resting on it. "Well first things first. This discussion will be
off the books, and stay only in this office between just you and
I. Unfortunately, it does not. This is a one time thing. To be
honest I'd rather you not resort to activities that are 'less
than legal.' However, like most, they resort to it not because
they enjoy it. Rather because they don't have many options. As
an officer of the law it's my job to not only stop these
activities, but to prevent them as well. Which brings me to this
question. Is there a reason as to why you may need to do such
things?" The had already read her whole record; clearing it
would require such action to begin with. He isn't direct with
his approach, but certainly hinted that Tinder would understand
what he's referring to. "Is there a family member or friend who
may be sick? Who can't afford the necessary treatment?"

Tinder frowns a bit as she hears this is a one time thing, maybe
cooperating with the guards like this wasn't a great idea.. She
glances over at him as he hints around, "No, I don't have any
family or friends that are sick. It's just me, always has been."
She doesn't want to say that she's the one that needs the pills
and the help, but she figures her own hint will lead him to that
conclusion. She sits down in the closest chair, adjusting her
bag nervously.

Ebony reclines back in his seat as he listens to Tinder's
response. "Hmm, I see. Tinder I know this isn't something that's
easy to talk about and I appreciate your honesty on the matter.
So taking a step back to look at the whole picture, what would
be the ideal place for you to be in to not resort to such
activities? Any obstacles you're having that's keeping you in
that spot?"

"There is no ideal place in a situation like this, the trouble
will always come back. Even the times I've been in jail I've
found ways to access the things I need." She takes a deep breath
and stares down, "I've tried before to give it up, it never ends
well. Plenty of things always get in the way.." No part of her
wants to admit that withdrawal is one of the main things
standing in her way.

The captain was silent for a moment, talking in what Tinder said
to heart. Instead of saying anything, he reaches into the
cabinet of his desk and pulls out another binder. "Here, take a
look at this." What Tinder would find would be another record,
the name is blacked out though. Counts of armed robbery,
alcoholism, assault on an officer, trespassing, and a slew of
felonies littered the pages, but substance abuse seems to be the
primary crime present. "Bear with me on this, but from what you
see here, what can you say about this individual? Where do you
think they're at now?"
