Re: The City of Stone

The room is blank, white walls with a large one way window
founds on the side. In the middle is a table with two chairs on
each side. Sitting in front of them were two griffons. The first
was a male of hazel eyes, a striking feature against his silver
coat of feather and fur. His companion sits next to him, her
navy blue appearance only enhanced by her bright lime green
eyes. Both have various bandages on them from winds they've
sustained in their last fight. The only sounds from either of
them with be the clanking of their metal restraints between
their claws and paws. Neither seem to show interest at first
until they notice who is visiting them. While Juliet gets the
two mares with a crippling glare, Romeo appears as if he's about
to bust out laughing. Lima presses onward, taking a seat in
front of them before straitening out her things.
"Well holy sh!t!" Romeo shouts, rather cheery so far. "Look
who's stopped by to pay us a visit dear. Our good old snake in
the grass, Agent Lima. So, hows your little boy toy doing?" As
soon as Lima opens her mouth, the Director raises his claw,
"Actually, if he's not dead, don't bother telling me. F*** that
guy. So what brings you here then?" Again Lima tries to answer
but is once again cut off, "Don't start yet, I have a good idea
as to what it might be. But more importantly..." His eyes narrow
to Lina, "Who the f*** are you, and why are you here?" Lima
doesn't say anything, rather she waits for the other mare to
answer.

Lina noted the one-way window. She’d have to make her move her
quickly, before anyone could stop her. She didn’t expect to get
out afterwards. She’d never expected that. She would gladly
spend the rest of her days in a cell if it meant her parents had
been avenged. When she caught sight of the griffons themselves,
she immediately had to slide on the mask she’d been cultivating
for years- a stony, disdainful expression with hard, narrowed
eyes. Lina strode over and took a seat next to Lima, not taking
her eyes off the griffons.
She listened to the exchange, an icy calm filling her when the
Director addresses her. Her mouth quirked into a smirk. “The
name’s Lina.” She didn’t even bother giving a last name, fake or
not. These griffons would be dead soon enough, anyway. Suddenly
taking on an obviously fake earnest expression, she said, “Oh,
let’s just say I’ve been looking forward to meeting you a long
time. You’re work has just been… unparalleled. Can’t a mare
admire that without having her motives questioned?”

"Everyone's motives should be questioned," Juliet chirps in, "by
even themselves at times. That's what we're here for, that's why
we're all here."
"Well, not all of us are here though," the griffin next to her
adds. "Bravo and Zulu are in some other town. And Yankee? Heh,
head honchos got a nice place all to himself."

"So two Directors per prison and one in solitary confinement?"
Lima cuts in, rather suspicious of the circumstances. "With
security this light I'm surprised you're all getting
comfortable."
"What's your point?" Juliet asks, a harsh sting in her tone.
"You all could've busted out by now, but you haven't. Alluding
the crowds would've been a challenge but you all have more than
enough resources to pull it off. So why stay here?"
Romeo shrugs, reaching over to hold his spouses claw. "Maybe we
like the vacation time. My girl and I get quality time together
and we don't have to worry about work anymore. Well, that would
be the case if one of our workers wasn't here questioning us. So
Lima, let's get down to brass tacks. I assume you're here to ask
about that bloody program your boy toy Fox was in, correct?"
"Yes, actually," the mare replies. "The program's time-frame
doesn't add up. It lasted longer than my agent's involvement, so
what was going on beforehand?"
Juliet leans forward, her eyes scanning over the pegasus before
her, "You're barking up the wrong tree Lima. Our involvement was
minimal at the start of it, it's something weer didn't want to
be a part of at first."

Lina did a mental double-take as other names were said, and when
Lima mentioned other Directors, it took all of Lina’s willpower
not to downright stab somebody right then and there.
The Directors weren’t all in one place.
This was going to make things much more difficult. Much more
difficult. Lina hardly listened to the rest of the exchange,
instead puzzling over what she was going to do.

"So what?" Lima asks as she leans forward into the table. "I'm
sure when you two jumped on board they brought you up to speed
on what's been going on. Whose been a part of it from the start.
For something like this, they wouldn't leave you in the dark, so
what are you two holding back?"
The griffons now appear uneasy, glancing at each other before
Juliet speaks up. "Lima, I understand you want answers for what
happened. But it's pointless. Foxtrot is free, were locked up,
there's nothing else to it. There are mysteries that are better
left unsolved, things that are best left forgotten."
"Forgotten..." The words reminds the former agent of the paper
Samiel gave her. She pulls it out and places it on the table in
front of her, "Well, someone out there doesn't really agree with
that."

As if they'd seen a ghost, the Directors' faces went pale as
they saw the note. 'Remember Alpha'. Juliet reaches over and
grabs Romeo's claw. "W-where did you get that?"
Lima shrugs, rather caught off guard by the reaction, "Samiel
gave it to me. It showed up at his office shortly after you guys
arrived. Why? Wait, what's Alpha? Are they a former agent?"
The two don't respond, their attention solely on the piece of
parchment in front of them. Romeo then looks at them, "Just go,
were not talking about anything else! Go to the others if you
want but this meeting is over!"

Lina was lost in thought as the others talked. Wait… She
mentally ran her previous conversation with Samiel through her
head. He had said the Directors were in different locations, and
Lina had been so intent on getting revenge that she hadn’t paid
attention. Damn it! She was getting sloppy, in her short time
away from her Marean friend.
At the griffons’ reaction to the paper, however, Lina was
dragged back to the present. At the male griffon’s order, Lina
realized she was running out of time to amend her plan. Trying
to buy herself time, she let out a quiet scoff, as if
unbelieving of the Directors’ refusal to talk. She turned
expectantly to Lima, waiting to see if she would just up and
leave, or question the others further.

"Over!?" Lima barks, "No, this meeting isn't over! I still have
questions!"
Juliet sharpens her eyes at her, "Oh give it up Lima? What are
you trying to prove, huh? That there's some doomsday weapon or
something out there?" Leaning forward, her feathers bristle with
aggression. "Or do you need another reason to tell yourself why
you drove ano-"
Lima slams her hoof onto the table, silencing the room. Her gaze
is broken from them, focusing on the table instead. After a
moment, she takes the slip of paper and pockets it. "We're done
here." Without saying another word, she gets up and trots
towards the exit.

The two griffons simply sit back, cross their claws, and watch
in silence as Lima leaves the room in silence. Once she's gone,
Romeo eyes over to Lina, "Oi, I don't know know what your stake
on all this is. But I'd cut your losses and ditch the b*tch. Her
track record with partner's are sh*t."
"Don't believe us, please." Juliet chirps in. "We'd prefer you
ask her yourself. Now run along. Guards are waiting for us."
