What a Night
By: Astrid Date: October 15, 2016, 10:14 pm

The ground was still wet, but at least the rain stopped. Astrid
was gracefully gliding down the empty streets of Ponyville. The
moon was still in the sky so many of the residents were inside
of asleep. She was placing flyers in mailboxes as well as on the
doorsteps of houses. In addition, she was pasting them to walls
to really try and get the word out that she's looking for
qualified assistants. She was still humming a song and
progressively getting louder as her flight became more of a
dance.

Indigo sighs, mumbling quietly to herself as she wanders around
the empty streets. She was absorbed in her thoughts, making
mental notes here and there as she passes close through the
center of town, pausing just in front of the town hall as she
looks up at the night sky. The Noctral was practically drenched
from head to hoof, yet she didn't seem to mind much. At least it
had stopped raining... The mare proceeded to take a seat on a
nearby bench, wringing her mane and tail out as she simply
stares out into space, thinking. She had received a puzzle from
her upper command, but before putting her mind to work, she
first needed to survey the area she would be working in. And
right now, despite the now-lifted rain, would be the perfect
opportunity. No movement, no sound... Just her and her thoughts.
No sooner than Indigo sat down to think, however, she picked up
faint humming in the distance. Too good to be true, the mare
thought, setting her eyes down the path as she watched the
source of the noise come into view. For a moment, Indigo was
surprised to see another Noctral roaming the streets... As far
as she was aware, her youngest sister was the only one living
here. Then again, it had been some time since Indigo had come to
visit Ponyville, and even then, it was business related. For
now, she simply watched the mare, curious as to what she was
putting up.

Astrid continued her little dance/song moment before making eye
contact with another Noctral and blushed. "Oh my god... This is
embarassing.... Sorry I sing and dance when no body is
watching." She laughed though. "I didn't know there were other
noctrals in Ponyville! I assumed everypony was asleep."

"Oh, I don't live here," Indigo replies, grinning at the mare's
reaction to "being caught". "However, my sister does. And worry
not; she tends to do the same thing while she's out and about.
Although she doesn't seem to mind if anypony is watching or
not." She eyes the Noctral up and down for a moment, getting a
feel for the mare's motives and intentions. While Indigo didn't
necessarily mean to, it always happened out of habit towards any
new individual she met... Her line of work depended on that
judgement and accuracy. "As you can see, I am quite wide
awake... What brings you out here, friend?"

Astrid laughed before taking a flyer out with her teeth and
holding it in front of Indigo. "Well I'm looking for assistants!
I am an engineer and astronaut for EASEA and the work has...
stressed me out... so i need a partner! I feel like that would
help! I am holding interviews for possible candidates and I
wanted to get the word out!"

Indigo quirks a brow as she glances over the flier, her
expression shifting to surprise as the Noctral explained her
profession, along with her intention of posting up such fliers.
She stares at the paper... and then at the mare behind the
paper, a girly grin slowly creeping into her features. Catching
herself, Indigo's expression returns to neutral as she sits back
with a quiet laugh. "Ah, forgive me for staring. You have me
rethinking my current position. And believe me, I know how you
feel. Too many things to do in too little time, and as soon as
you complete one project, two more take its place and demands
your immediate attention." The mare hums to herself in thought,
thinking of all the possibilities. "To be quite honest, I am
pleasantly surprised to find an engineer within this small town.
And an astronaut at that. What are the odds? I'm Indigo Sharp,
by the way."

"Astrid's the name spaceships are my game; but my pals call me
Supernova! Well I convinced the EASEA to fund a lab and garage
here since it's so peaceful and there was a huge lot open. I
haven't been here much prior to this so it was an opportunity to
broaden my horizons on Earth!" What Indigo said about Engineers
concerned her though. "Oh boy.... are there not many here? I was
hoping to find an assistant that at least sorta knows what they
are doing..."

"It's a pleasure, Astrid. Er, Supernova... Do you have a
preference?" Indigo was almost sure she had heard the name
Supernova before, possibly from her younger sister who
absolutely adored the EASEA. And to convince such an
organization to expand into a place like Ponyville, Astrid must
have a lot of pull within their ranks. "To be quite honest,
dear, Ponyville is a rather humble place. Most rely on hard work
and magic rather than science and machinery, but that isn't to
say that there aren't any like-minded individuals of which you
seek." The mare shrugs and leans forward a bit. "Being an
engineer myself, I can confidently say your chances would vastly
improve in Canterlot, considering their prestigious
Universities. Being a resident of Ponyville, however, I can
equally say that you will find nopony that works harder than
those who make a living here."

"I had plenty of assistants in Canterlot you are right about
that. I had interns there to but they wouldn't let me bring any
here since the University of Canterlot has no campus here. I've
been getting by actually, but I've gotten my hooves full
recently.... Oh! You call me whatever you want. I hear enough of
both." She smiled again. "So what is it that you do around
here?"

"Fair enough, Astrid. I prefer to use real names when I can;
it's a bit more personal and professional, in my opinion."
Indigo leans back again, lazily wrapping her tail around her
hooves like a cat. "I work for the Lunar Guard, and I do a
little bit of everything, although my official department would
probably be intelligence and R&D. I'm a licensed mechanical
engineer, and for the most part, my talents have been employed
towards military applications. Auxiliary equipment and
non-lethal applications, mind you; I have a particular disdain
for violence."
