Orientation

Another day, another bit. The doors to The Herbiary open wide as
a hoof full of customers line outside. "Welcome all!" A dark,
brazen mare steps outside. Her jade colored eyes are met with
excitement for the day ahead. "We're now open! Come on in!" She
steps aside to let the customers through. Her workers tend to
the plants and anyone needing assistance. After the first few
hours, she finds herself at her desk. Paperwork, the boring
stuff. It has to be done though, so she just plugs the numbers
away.

Tinder paces back and forth in front of the store, glancing
through the folder Niv had given her once again. She had spent
most of the day before getting one of her contacts to help her
fill it out, unable to read a lot of it herself. She's nervous,
she can't remember the last time she had proper work, she's
scared she'll do the wrong thing. Finally after a few minutes of
pacing she heads into the store and looks around, approaching
one of the workers and smiling a little, "Um, can you tell me
where I can find Niv?" She holds the folder close to her with
her magic, adjusting the cloak on her back.

The worker recognizes Tinder from before and gives her a
courteous smile. "Of course! She's actually in her back office.
I'll take you to her. Just follow me." She leads her part the
isles of colorful plants into the back hallway. Both would be
met with a cooler temperature before stopping in front of the
office door. "Nivalia?" The mare asks, knocking on the door.
"Someone's here to see you."
"One second." Nivalia says, followed by a brief pause. The door
opens, the mare coming out in formal business attire. As soon as
she sees Tinder, her expression lightens. "Oh hey! Tinder, it's
so good to see you! Thanks for bringing her over here." Her
employee nods and heads back to the front of the store. "Come on
in, take a seat." She returns to her swivel chair and spins
around before coming to a stop in front of her.

Tinder follows a couple steps behind the worker, looking quite
nervous about this whole situation. As they reach the office she
whispers a small, "thank you". She smiles at Niv as she walks
out, happy to see someone she knows, "Hey there." She follows
her into the office and sits the nearest chair, taking the
folder and laying it on desk. "That's the folder you told me to
fill out. Thank you again for this opportunity."

"No, thank you Tinder for your assistance." Nivalia replies as
she picks up the folder. She gives it a thorough looking over to
make sure no parts were missed. "Ok, everything seems to be in
order here. I'll get this filed away later today. Alright uh..."
The mare taps her hoofs as she tries to recall the usual phrases
she must tell new hires. "Oh, ok to start off. The store's hours
are 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. We're closed on Sunday and on Saturday
we close up at 5:00 pm. You'll have to be here about 30 minute
before opening to check the site and assist the others if they
need anything. From there, you're job is to patrol the store,
keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. If someone walks in
and rubs off the wrong way, get them at the door with a smile.
It let's them know that we're attentive to all our customers
without being rude. At the end of the day you'll need to check
out the whole site before locking up. I'll get you your own set
of keys layer this week. In terms of uniforms, there are none.
We have brown aprons if you need the pockets to put stuff in;
I'll show you where those are later. In the event of something
happening, there's an emergency landline to call the
authorities. Do you have any questions so far?"

Tinder watches Niv look through the folder, worried that she
filled it out wrong. She lets out a sigh of relief as it all
seems to be fine, then just listens to everything that Niv is
saying, "Oh, um, can I just wear my bag? Is that allowed? And if
I see someone steal something, should I swipe it back?"

"Of course you can carry your bags," Nivalia assures, "I'll give
you a name tag to make it official. As for thefts, the best way
to stop them is to prevent them from happening. If you think
someone is up to no good, approach them with a smile. Let them
know that you're here for them, whether they like it or not."

Tinder let's out a small breath of relief, that's one worry
taken off her shoulders. She nods slowly and fidgets in her seat
a bit, clearly still nervous about this, "What if they know me?
Or what if I see them swipe something before I get a chance to
stop them?"

"If you see someone take anything, gauge the situation. If you
have time, come see me and I'll handle it," the changeling
answers, "if you're by yourself, you got two options. You can
swipe it, or let it go. We can take losses, not everyone that
shows is gonna try to steal a plant. If you need assistance, ask
your coworkers."

Tinder listens carefully, scratching at the hidden burns on her
side as she tries to stay calm. "Okay.. come to you or swipe it
back, got it." She flinches a bit as she hits a fairly new burn
under her cloak, regretting not taking more pain killers before
she left. "I think I got it. Anything else I need to know?"
