Snow should develop here towards sunset Wednesday; and end
towards sunrise Thursday.
A second snowstorm should develop towards sunset Friday; and
taper off towards sunrise Saturday.
Each looks like a 3 to 4 inch deal.
With 52 inches to date, we need exactly 23 inches to get to
climo. for the season (75 inches).

The low bottomed out at -17.1 F.

The March sun has really made things much more tolerable; up to
+22.1 F @ 12:13 PM.

Snow should get underway around 7:30 PM...and it may come down
nicely until after midnight.

Picked up 2.6" new snow as of 3:30 AM; just leftover flurries
now. Snow developed Wed night and tapered off this morning in
the last half hour.
Looks like the snow never even made it as far north as Sturgis
or Deadwood; the far northern parts of the Black Hills have
really been in the screw zone the last few weeks. Lead had one
of their least snowy months of February ever.
Monthly Total: 4.4"
Seasonal Total: 54.6"

So now we have Friday's storm to look at; the models have been
all over the place with it...and then possibly a larger and
warmer event towards next Tuesday; which might even start as
rain or rain and snow mixed; but would very quickly go over to
snow.
It is 14.4 F @ 9:52 AM; but I expect a big warmup by noon; and
the real frigid air looks to be over and done with at last; and
I will not miss it; lolz.

City and -25.8 F @ the Rapid City Airport.

Quite possibly the biggest snowstorm of the season looming for
the Black Hills; with snow beginning Wed. morning (13 March).
European is very aggressive with heavy snow as a strong low
moves to the east of the area...an exceptional upslope flow
develops and the east winds really wring out the moisture as
they slam into the Eastern Slopes of the Black Hills.
Preliminary guess would be 5 to 10 inches; but we'll fine tune
it down the road.
Some of those EC ensemble members put down more that 2.0
L.E...so something to keep in mind...and the UKMET...always dry
around here...is very wet too.

12z Nam, GFS, and 0z EC all look snowy...with one to two feet of
snow in the Black Hills; locally 3 feet.
12z Canadian is a little less snowy; maybe a foot to 18 inches.
Outlier is the ICON; with maybe 5 to 10 inches; at best.
