       Around 10:15 PM a quick burst of heavy snow moved over the area;
and in 30 minutes; a quick 4/10ths of an inch of new snow
       accumulated.
       It is still snowing.

It seems to have tapered off as quickly as it arrived; but the
0.4" in half an hour was actually one of the heaviest bursts of
snow on the entire season...and a very pleasant surprise!

Now all eyes turn towards late Thursday into Friday...and a
       potential blizzard over the Dakotas.
The ECMWF has been most aggressive with the storm; the other
models have shunted it off to my north and east.
However climatology very much favors the Black Hills this time
of year when compared with the lower elevations over the central
       and eastern Dakotas.
       We'll see...

The 0z Canadian & GFS were still north; but they have been
trending south and seem to be starting to cave to the European.
The 0z ICON was extremely wet around here...close to 2.0"
LE....though a good part of it would be rain Thursday night into
the wee hours of Friday morning before going to snow.
The ICON has a significant warm bias around here...and I would
not be suprised that any initial rain here would go over to snow
in less than a couple hours...it has barely rained at all here
       since November.

The 12z ICON went crazy at 12z...with 3.0" LE...again, not all
snow...but enough to make it the biggest snowstorm of the
       year...by far.
The 12z GFS & Canadian trended south, wetter, and snowier.
This is starting to look like a very big storm moving in within
       84 hours.

The 18z GFS looks wetter and snowier than the 12z version.

       This morning's 3z SREF's went a little crazy; with a mean down
at the Rapid City Airport of 17 inches of snow; and an extreme
       maximum of 31 inches.
Most of the regular global models from 0z last night look like
they are in the 8 - 12 inch range for around here.
Though the temps should fall back into the 20's by Friday
morning...there might still be some slight problem overcoming
that April 13th sun...unless the overcast is quite thick and the
       snow really comes down.
The problem...should it manifest...would be most apparent
       between 10 AM & 2 PM.

18z NAM hits my area hard with 20 inches of snow.
The 12z ECMWF had the worst outcome; with maybe 5 or 6 inches.
I'm not crazy about the NAM; but seriously...how far off can it
       be inside 24 hours?
