Looks like there should be a period of light snow (around an
inch) here on Tuesday...and maybe some more significant snow in
the Thursday / Friday timeframe.

Looking into the mid-range; I think that the really exceptional
cold may be slowly starting to ebb; it is going to stay quite
cold for the next 10 days (through 28 February); but I think
that the days with DFN's of -30 might be behind us after today.
It will probably average around 13 degrees below normal the last
10 days of February; but I think the incredibly cold air is
starting to ease up just a bit.
Then; as of 1 March...I think more seasonable temps should take
hold...The Black Hills have cold and snowy March's...but we are
talking temps in the teens, twenties, and thirties...not ten to
twenty below zero.
Something to look forward to...I certainly love the cold...but
there is such a concept as too much of a good thing...lol.
As far as precipitation (which means nothing but snow here...in
fact; right through April and even the first week of May); it
does look active through the first week of March.
@ 7:22 this evening (Monday night) it is already down to -0.2 F.

We only picked up 1/10th of an inch in morning snow showers.
Overcast @ 1:04 PM with a temp. of 19.6 F.
Monthly Total: 13.9"
Seasonal Total: 47.0"

-1.5 F @ 6:44 AM Wednesday morning.
Today marks the 81st day the ground has been well-covered with
snow this season...and this is non-consecutive.

Some snow should breakout here Thursday afternoon...and continue
into evening; then a break...and some more snow on Friday.
From the two systems combined; expecting between 2 and 3 inches
total...or in that general vicinity.
Three inches would bring us to 50 even; which would be quite
nice!

The snow did develop late on Thursday; but was extremely light
until after midnight on Friday...when it became a bit steadier.
As of 6:05 AM Friday morning; we have 1.1" new snow.
Monthly Total: 15.0"
Seasonal Total: 48.1"
It is 8.4 F @ 6:40 AM with snow falling.

Another 1/2 inch has accumulated as of 10 AM; storm total 1.6".
Snowing lightly @ 10:08 AM...temp 15.4 F.
Monthly Total: 15.5"
Seasonal Total: 48.6"

I think tomorrow (Saturday) may very well get above freezing
here; which will be a good and rare occurrence.
It will afford the area a little time to thaw out just a bit and
maybe melt some of the snow on those snowpacked roads.
Snow will develop on Sunday afternoon again; and will probably
produce 3 to 4 inches...but next week...while not mild...looks
like it will have a few seasonable days with temps getting well
into the thirties; so the "worst" may be over (famous last
words, lol).
The start of March looks very cold; but with the longer days and
the increased angular elevation of the sun; even the most
bitterly cold air masses are hard pressed to produce the bitter
afternoon maximums they could 8 weeks earlier. Nights will be
frigid; but days not too bad.
However; March is traditionally an *extremely* snowy month in
the Black Hills (April as well)...so although temps will be more
comfortable than they were in February; I would venture that a
very fair amount of snowfall lies ahead of us.
