As of 5 PM; we have picked up 1/10th of an inch of new snow on
the day. 33.2" on the season.
The climate here is basically the same as L.A. or San
Diego...though obviously a bit cooler. It is also more arid
than the Sahara.
Lolz.

Looks like my little denunciation / dressing down worked
wonders; as between 6:20 PM and 7 PM; we picked up 8/10ths of an
inch of new snow in the best burst of the season (1.2" per hour
average rate of fall).
This gives us 9/10ths of an inch of snow for the storm and 34.0"
even on the season.
Added to the 66.3" I had last season down on that hill west of
Rapid City; I have finally crashed 100 inches (100.3" to be
exact) since I moved here before the 2017-18 winter began /
approximately one and a half winters.
That hill west of R.C. (where I was for 2017-18) had at altitude
of 3465'; this one is at 4410'.
Just 5.5 F @ 7:17 PM.

After an 85 minute lull; we had another nice burst of moderate
to briefly heavy snow between 8:25 PM and 8:55 PM...putting down
an additional 2/10ths of an inch of new snow.
This brings the event total to 1.1".
Monthly Total: 1.1"
Seasonal Total: 34.2"

Though the NWS Rapid City is beginning the month of February
with a DFN of +22.8 (that's correct...though after only 2 days
of the month)...I would not be surprised if they end up setting
a record for the coldest February ever at the WFO.
Unreal cold setting in around here for at least the next 2
weeks.
It is +3.0 F @ 10:25 PM...and that is warm compared to where it
is headed!

Monday evening we had another dusting or 1/10th of an inch of
new light snowfall.
Monthly Total: 1.2"
Seasonal Total: 34.3"
Now, @ 3:15 AM Tuesday morning; the temp is just -3.5 F.

There should be periods of snow; starting in the wee hours of
Wednesday morning (about 24 hours from this post)...I would
guess that the little event would produce two to four inches
here...
However; there *might* also be a preliminary event or squall
here late Tuesday afternoon (around 5 PM) that could put down a
quick inch of snow.
In terms of snow accumulation; this is truly the nickel & dime
capital of the world...no sizeable events; but many little ones
that do add up over the long snow season (October through
May)...which actually started on 28 September this "winter".

Temps actually look pretty uniform across S.D. @ 3:40 AM...very
cold...but not incredibly cold...generally in the -10 F to -5 F
range.
-3.6 F here.

The snow squall did move through between 3:35 PM and 4 PM...and
put down a quick 1/10th of an inch of snow.
There is a good chance another; possibly stronger one might move
through here around 5:30 PM or so.

Wow!
That 5:30 PM snow squall did not get here till around a little
past 10 PM...but it was well worth the wait!
For about 2 hours, the snow came down hard & heavy; about 2.9"
new in 2 hours...adding to the 1/10th of an inch that fell this
afternoon; we have now seen an even 3.0" new snow for the day on
Tuesday...that was per midnight.
It is continuing to snow and the temp. is -0.9 F @ 12:10 AM
Monthly Total: 4.2"
Seasonal Total: 37.3"
