Quite possibly the most genuinely pleasant snowstorm of the
season in progress here; snow commenced at
4:45 PM and as of 8:45 PM I had 1.8" new snow...just lovely,
steady light to moderate snow and no b.s. hitherto. Really
       pleasant to watch!
       15.4 F @ (now) 8:55 PM with snow falling.

       As of 10:15 PM; we have made it to 2.0" new snow on the day;
which finally brings us up to 30.0" even on the season...which
       makes me quite happy!
       17.1 F @ 10:15 PM...and light snow.

At midnight; it has tapered down...it might start up a bit in
the wee hours of the morning...but the main bulk of it has moved
       out.
It was a very pleasant event; it yielded 2.2" new snow...and, as
I said...just a nice, clean, light snowfall that made everything
       look fresh and nice.

It looks like there will be chances of light snow on Wednesday,
Thursday, and Friday...probably each around an inch or two...but
       every little bit helps!

36 F and raining on top of Mt Washington (elev. 6288') at the
moment (24 January / dead of winter)...which is quite unusual.

Another 1/10th of an inch of snow fell Thursday night into
       Friday morning...
If not much falls the rest of the daylight hours; we will treat
it as a separate, individual event.
       Monthly Total: 3.1"
       Seasonal Total: 30.5"
This means that we have had 3.0" of new snow since my heralded
       "snowy period" began a week ago on Jan 18. I forecast 10 - 20
inches from the 18th through the end of the month; so we still
have a ways to go to reach the lower end of the forecast.
However, it will almost certainly snow some more over the last 7
       days of the month here.

A couple of days ago I drove up to Lead on Rt 385...and then
southwest to Newcastle, WY on Rt 85...and all the rumors proved
true...the area SW of Lead...from Cheyenne Crossing down to
O'Neill Pass to Hardy Station...extremely snowy; in fact, it was
snowing moderately through most of my drive and I was lucky to
get down the mountain before it got any worse.
Using my eyes; there had to be a minimum of 20 inches of snow on
       the ground in that region.
