       Between about 1:20 PM and 2:20 PM; we saw some light snow that
       deposited about 1/10th of an inch.
       Just some flurries at the moment; temp 29.8 F @ 2:43 PM.
       More snow seems likely later in the day.

       Did not snow much overnight; (nothing measurable)...but at 5:40
       AM snow picked up in earnest; and we saw some extremely heavy
       snow for about an hour or so...picked up 1.8" snow in two
       hours...and so as of 7:40 AM the storm total is at 2.5".
       Current temp. 19.2 F.

       Tremendous potential for a great upslope snow event in the Black
       Hills today; already 1.4 inches new snow this morning (as of
       8:40 AM) with the easterly flow slamming into the mountains;
       should snow right into evening...I am counting this as part of
       the storm that started on 25 December...as it is all from the
       same system...but this upslope part should be the best part;
       snow-wise.
       Looking at 30:1 ratios; so even 3/10ths of an inch liquid could
       yield 9 new inches of snow.
       The new 1.4" gives a storm total of 4.1" so far.
       14.9 F @ 8:45 AM and snowing moderately.

       At 11 AM we have 1.9" new upslope snow on the day; this gives a
       storm total of 4.6" so far.
       14.4 F @ 11:00 AM and snowing moderately.
       9.4" on the month.
       22.7" on the season.
       Though we have seen 4.6" over the last 3 days (storm total thus
       far); the depth on the ground at this moment is only around 4
       inches even; due to settling.

       At 12:45 PM we have 2.0" new upslope snow on the day; this gives
       a storm total of 4.7" so far.
       14.5 F @ 12:45 PM and snowing extremely lightly; as it has for
       the last hour or so here.  Better snows are now off to my east;
       down in Rapid City.
       9.5" on the month.
       22.8" on the season.

       Finished with 2.1" new upslope snow on the day; this yields a
       three day storm total of 4.8".
       9.1 F @ 11:40 PM and skies have cleared out.
       9.6" snow on the month.
       22.9" snow on the season.
       Another good chance of snow towards Sunday afternoon / 30
       December....as a low approaches from the west.

       Temp down to + 0.9 F @ 7:47 AM; cold...though not out of the
       ordinary for 28 December.
       Looks like there is a -11 F not too far from Rochford; which is
       pretty close to the coldest town in America east of the
       Rockies...annual mean is around 36 F to 37 F.
       You could make a case that towns like Rochford have the most
       severe winters of any spot east of the Rockies; with annual
       snowfalls up towards 150 inches combined with severe
       cold...Rochford is not as snowy as the extremely snowy lake
       effect spots...but it is a good deal colder.
       Climate in that town is really not that different from the
       summit of Mount Mansfield, VT...probably a little less severe.
       However, the Hardy Station on RT 85 at 6522'...and a good 1000'
       above Rochford...well, weather there is about as good as it
       gets.
