General Weather Observations and Discussion from around America

Since I am the first (and only) member at this juncture in time;
I can happily report a temperature of 43 F here in the Black
Hills of South Dakota @ 6:37 PM MDT...with some snow in the
forecast overnight into Monday. Skies are cloudy at present;
but no precipitation is falling currently.

So far, during this 2017-18 winter; I have measured 42.1" of
snow. I am at an elevation of 3465'; just a little bit above
the 44th parallel and between the 103rd and 104th meridian.
The breakdown on the season is as follows:
November: 0.9"
December: 9.5"
January: 5.1"
February 16.5"
March (through the 24th): 10.1"
Down at the Rapid City NWS WFO; they have measured 42.6" of snow
this season.

At 10:55 PM MDT some light rain had started to fall here and the
temperature was 39 F.

At 11:45 PM MDT some snow was mixing in but it was still a very
balmy 38 F.

At midnight MDT it was mostly wet snow now falling here with a
temperature of 37 F.
Obviously not accumulating at present; my experience generally
puts 33.5 F the threshold to get snow to stick.

Moderate snow; down to 35 F @ 12:30 AM MDT; may just be starting
to stick in favored places.

Although it was still 35 F @ 1:00 AM MDT; the snow was heavy in
the last 30 minutes and everything is white; including the road.
It would not surprise me if my thermometer is off by maybe 1 F
or so.

About 2.9" of new snow as of 4 AM MDT. Temp 33 F. Continuing
to snow. Pretty decent amount; considering the very marginal
temps.
