RP Rules of the Forum
By: Zorbak the Ebil Moglin Date: April 9, 2019, 4:44 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Rules of the Forum:
1. No completely OP characters. No kryptonians, Saiyans,
Saitama/One Punch Man-esque super people or god level opponents
(Unless otherwise given permission by myself or Karasu Tepes and
we have taken measures to properly balance them) with exception
to the Olympus community which is designed for that sort of
thing (but the characters still have to be balanced). If the
mods or admins say a character is too OP, please don't get pissy
and fight with them about it. That will be a fast way of getting
yourself into trouble or banned. For the most part, we use the
same power scaling as we do in London Night, where creatures who
can destroy more than a city block are typically too powerful.
In Olympus, the power scale is a bit higher with highest level
opponents being able to destroy cities (due to being an OP level
community). If you think a decision is unfair, tag me and I will
reach a final decision on if the mod or admin is fairly judging
the profile. Even we make mistakes sometimes.
2. We use a turn order in rps to prevent people from being left
behind. So always wait for everyone to post before you go again.
Obviously, this is for group rps with 3 or more people, so
please don't leave people behind. If a person goes MIA or
disappears, tag them after a reasonable amount of time and give
them a chance to respond (or if you can get in touch with them
another way, you can do that too). If they don't, then the rest
of the rp can determine what they want to do, whether they want
to wait or skip the person. However, don't automatically resort
to this. If someone isn't given enough time, the mods and admins
should be consulted and we will determine what to do.
3. All powers must be balanced properly. No power that is
completely impossible to dodge can be used. For the most part,
keep limitations in mind. Psychic powers and certain higher
level supernaturals do have some really OP powers. For the most
part, every power must be able to be countered or blocked. And
no off the wall weaknesses will be allowed that are things that
no one has access to such as some random weapon that no one will
have access to. Certain elements and items have been introduced
into our communities to balance some more OP powers, such as
varanium being used to counter high level regeneration, or some
metals being able to counter specific abilities. If you ever
need help with limitations, tag a mod or admin and we will help
balance powers and weaknesses.
4. No godmodding. This rule is not always so self explanatory
due to how many different forms of godmodding there are. For the
most part, things like not taking any hits, autododging,
autohitting, or overall omniscience is not allowed. Keep in mind
what you character can and cannot do, and don't ruin the rp by
doing things that your character shouldn't be able to do. Also
don't take control of other people's characters or assume a
certain action the opposing character will take.
5. Profiles must be approved before rp'ing. This is pretty self
explanatory. Profiles have to be approved by a mod or admin
before you can use them, unless you're given special permission
to use a character by a mod or Admin (which we may grant if the
character is just a one time NPC or a claimed character is using
temporary abilities). Also try to limit use of powers not listed
in profiles. As characters grow, they gain new abilities, but
don't suddenly have characters who just start using a completely
new powerset without any setup unless given specific permission
to do so. There are no limits to numbers of profiles, but you
must keep track of each of your profiles.
6. No Pornographic or Naked Pics. For the most part, try to
avoid any pics that might be considered "pornographic" in
nature. If we see such pictures, we will delete the
corresponding post immediately. We don't want to get flagged or
something for questionable content. Some less clothed pics are
acceptable depending on the picture and content, but stay away
from sexualized pics or pics without any clothes. Also don't
post any pictures of "sexual nature" in the discussion or other
sections. Just don't do it. If you have wonder if a character's
picture is "questionable", then chances are it already is
questionable. This isn't as big an issue now that we're not on
Google+, but still, there are people here that would prefer to
not see that sort of thing.
7. Sexual Rps are allowed, but mark them as such. If someone
wants to do a sexual rp or an rp takes a turn to that kind of
thing, then please label the main post as such if you continue
to rp on the site. If it is not labeled, the mods will warn you,
and if you still don't comply, we will eventually ban you if you
refuse to comply. Usually, the best thing for doing sexual rps
is moving to a private post, because we can't stop people from
stalking rps. I'm still trying to figure out how to pull that
one off since the site doesn't have a private post ability. For
now, Discord is currently the best thing we have to "private".
Also, try to stay away from r.a.p.e., underage stuff, or other
terrible sexual stuff. It's acceptable now and then in certain
situations like bios, but don't rely on heavy sexual stuff in
profiles all the time. There are ways to make dark profiles
without things like r.a.p.e. and there are people here who might
not like to see that sort of thing. And FYI, the site's sensors
will censor the word r.a.p.e. so be aware of that as well.
8. If you have a problem with the mods, let us know. And if you
don't, respect your fellow rp'ers. For the most part, pretty
self explanatory. If we do something you don't like, you can
tell us. We won't ban you for outright stating an opinion as
long as you're not being a jerk about it. If you are a jerk
about it, we might not enjoy it, and depending on your
responses, we might take further action if you are just being a
jerk, but we expect the same respect we will try to show you.
I'm not saying you have to be happy about it, but we won't
tolerate people who are gonna be assholes and think they can
just do whatever they want. Don't treat people like crap. It's
rude, it'll make you lose friends, and it will get you banned if
you push certain buttons too far. Respect the leadership and
your fellow rp'ers, and we will do the same. Most of us will
easily respect you if you aren't a jerk, and are more likely to
side with you if you're respectful. As the old saying goes: You
catch more bees with honey than vinegar.
9. Even in futuristic rps, be careful of powerful tech. Be
careful about tech being TOO powerful. There are plenty of
opportunities for high tech robots, cyborgs and weapons, but
don't make weapons that are completely uncounterable. Things
like energy weapons are okay, granted they are counterable by
other energy weapons. Also, be careful with hacking abilities.
Many of the RP communities not only have high level tech, but
high level anti-hack and anti-virus tech and software as well.
Futuristic tech evolves more than just weapons, so keep it in
mind. Certain liberties can be taken at times, but certain
things like hacking an entire city's network or something is a
bit much. Keep with the tech level established in the community
if possible.
10. Get permission before using other people's characters in
stories or profiles. If you're making a character, make sure
that you talk to the people who you are making the character
based around. Such as if I was going to make a character that is
related to someone else's character, I would make sure to get
their okay before I make the character I want to be related.
Additionally, don't take control of people's characters in rps
or stories, unless you are given specific permission by the
person to do so. Often times, most of us will help you write
stories or rp events based on characters if you just ask. Any
conflicts will be solved as fairly as we can, but the best way
to avoid them from happening is open communication. I get that
some people want to surprise other people, but that can be risky
at times if characters conflict with each other. For the most
part, a lot of characters in the communities have closely
related stories and bios, making it difficult for someone to
know everything about any one character.
11. Characters can be face claimed through WIP posts, but try to
be reasonable about how many characters you claim. For the most
part, most of us like to make characters based on ones from
animes, TV or movies. There is no limit on the number of
profiles you can claim, but try to be reasonable in claiming
characters. If you have a number of characters from one anime
and someone else wants to claim characters from that anime,
allow them to. If we see too many claims and not enough profiles
being made, we may override your claim and let someone else play
a character. However, we also added the alternate
dimension/alternate timeline options for people who want to play
other versions of the same character, so that is always
possible. Usually, if there is a conflict of interest,
communication is the best method of resolving it. If it isn't
solved, then a mod or admin will step in and solve the problem.
Usually, the first person to claim a character will get the main
version of the character, or special exceptions might be made as
needed for those that typically play certain characters on a
consistent basis. Also, don't steal people's OCs and claim them
unless they give you permission to do so.
12. Massive level events not done by mods or admins must be
approved. We've had some people try to make massive level events
that don't make sense in the context of the lore, so any event
that is citywide or higher must be approved by an admin or mod.
Even we admins and mods usually talk over events with each other
before doing them on a community wide scale. Stories and event
rps that are too large a scale should be run through mods and
admins just so we can help you set it up and make sure it fits
in the context of the lore of the community. If you post it and
the event doesn't work in the story of the community, we may end
up having you change it. It would just be easier to go through
us from the get-go so that we can help make sure it will be
right the first time and we can all have more fun that way.
Usually, either Karasu Tepes or myself need to okay high level
events.
13. Do not post anything in the Player information Board unless
given permission. Things that will go there will be moved there
as needed by me or Karasu Tepes. For the most part, we have
plenty of sections to post organizations and profiles in. That
section is for people new to the community so they can get an
idea of the lore for the community and the rules for the
community. It's for important information, and it is where we
will also post updates to the community's lore as needed. If you
post in the section without permission, we will either move the
post, or remove it entirely if other rules are broken in the
process.
14. If you want to stalk an rp, don't be a pest. If you want to
follow an rp, a simple comment in the rp will do the job (This
site has a function where you can be notified when a new post is
made to a post you want to be notified on). Don't start
commenting on every little thing that happens. It's appropriate
at times to make a comment, but don't completely ruin the rp by
constantly making comments and disrupting the flow of the rp. If
someone is being too much of a pest in an rp, let a mod or admin
know and we will take care of it.
15. No Spamming and try to be somewhat descriptive. For the most
part, spamming is not allowed. We will delete anything we view
as spam from the community, and depending on the spam, further
action might be taken. Try to be somewhat descriptive in rps if
you can, and don't just use things like text talk or emojis as
responses. We're not saying you have to write Shakespeare, but
try to at least make sure people understand your character's
actions. If we can't understand what is going on, it slows the
rp and leads to mistakes. If English is not your first language,
we will work with you on this. We will be happy to help if you
need it, you need only just ask. We know some people have simple
rp styles, and we will work with you on your rp style if you
want us to help.
16. Rule breaking will be dealt with appropriately. Okay... I
will be the first to admit the mods and admins have granted a
lot of second chances in the past and we have gotten a little
too lax over the years we've been rping. With that said though,
we will take appropriate action. Usually, this depends on the
situation, but the admins and mods have the right to take action
they see fit. We have always tried to give people the benefit of
the doubt, but depending on what you're doing, some actions will
get you banned more quickly than others. Specifically, if you
fight an admin or mod, and we warn you to stop, we reserve the
right to ban you if you don't. Usually most of us will give you
fair warning before we do so though. And if you think such
action isn't fair, talk to another admin, and we will make sure
the admin's decision is legit. Admittedly, sometimes we do make
decisions based on the emotions of the moment, which can lead to
a bit of harsh punishment, but pushing the mods and admins when
we clearly ask you to stop is going to usually be seen as
acceptable when it comes to banning if the mod or admin gave
fair warning. For the most part, we have granted plenty of
second chances, and we are not assholes enough to not understand
when someone sincerely doesn't mean to break the rules. It does
happen, and if you're respectful of us, we'll most often be
respectful of you and just give you a simple "don't do this".
For the most part, a lot of the rules broken in our communities
are things that aren't banable, and we will easily forgive if
you just put in the effort to fix the problem. Don't get banned
because you're too stubborn to do something like admit a simple
mistake.
17. Until we decide to do an ad-free site (if it happens), don't
mess with trying to avoid the censors. We are not allowed to try
and "avoid" the censors according to the rules of Create A
Forum. Until we decide to remove the censor by purchasing a plan
for the site (if we do chose to), do not try to avoid the
censors. You'll have to try other words that are not censored,
as trying to get around the censors might get us into trouble
and none of us want that. So please just try to avoid using
censored words until we figure out what we're going to do about
it. This is something we will have to be strict on because it's
an active rule of the site that we don't want to test and break.
