The Story So Far:
The year is 3022. As one will notice of the current world,
things have not gone well as of late. The first major problem
that started the Earth's current issues was the eruption of the
Yellowstone Caldera super-volcano. This one act made most of
North America uninhabitable, forcing most of the people in North
America to flee. Not even machines and reploids working on the
problem were able to solve it before the super volcano erupted.
However, this was only the beginning as this event was only the
beginning of a string of natural disasters, including a meteor
shower which devastated much of North and South America, leaving
most of that portion of the world uninhabitable due to the
volcanic ash, magma/lava and the nuclear reactors that granted
power to cities having gone nuclear without anyone to maintain
them.
This set off another chain of disasters, even reaching the other
side of the world, reducing man-kinds ability to grow food and
maintain standard living. Soon, the Asian and European
continents became the only places inhabited, with Africa mostly
abandoned due to the desert's now radical temperature changes
after the climates changed in the world. With the deserts
temperatures ranging from -60 at night to 145 during the day,
the desert quickly became an unlivable region for most who could
not handle such rapid climate changes and the harsh climate.
The one good thing to come out of the events though, was that
humans, robots/machines and supernaturals had been forced to put
aside their own wars and hatreds towards each other, as
everything had halted when natural disasters forced them to work
together. For the first time in history, true peace had finally
been achieved between all races through working together.
However, this led to the last problem. A human scientist named
Dr. Herald Black. Dr. Black, using a legion of the newest
generation supernatural hunter reploids, Maverick Hunters and
those supernaturals and humans on his side took over what was
left of society in order to rebuild. The problem, though, was
that he refused to give up control once rebuilding had started.
Soon, Dr. Black controlled most of the livable territory on the
Asian Continent. Those who didn't pledge their loyalty to Dr.
Black were hunted down and killed.
Now Dr. Black controls most of the resources left in the world,
and those who don't submit have tried to find territories where
they can continue to find supplies and resources, which there
aren't too many unclaimed resources left. There is hope, as
resistance groups have appeared all over the livable territories
and maintain alliances with small groups with resources. While
life for the resistance is not pleasant, they are only trying to
figure out how to stop Dr. Black and try to bring down his
regime of fear. Dr. Black has even managed to close the gates of
Heaven and Hell, thanks to his forces getting the angel and
demon tablets after killing both of their guardians. Now, angels
and demons are either trapped on earth, or trapped in Heaven or
Hell depending on where they were when the incidents occurred.
Currently, the afterlife is only accessible by Soul Reapers,
Death Wraiths, and Grim Reapers, and no other creature is allows
to travel between realms, making Heaven and Hell almost
completely inaccessible to anyone not dead and being sent there.
The only places left that are currently somewhat livable outside
of Dr. Black's regions are the Japan regions, and the Australian
regions. However, the area known as the Japanese Islands are
barely inhabited, with only a few small cities able to survive
due to the contamination of the earth and lack of resources. The
Australian region has a few cities, but with heavy mutations of
creatures there over the years, the area is a death trap for
humans and supernaturals alike with one of the biggest and more
interesting threats being creatures known as the Fenrirs and the
Byakko, which are 3 story sized wolves and white tigers that
have taken most of Australia as their territories, led by two 10
story leaders of both races who have so far, proven too much for
most supernaturals and humans to handle. The monsters attack
anyone on site, with most of them having supernatural abilities
and being able to even kill the strongest of supernaturals (More
information coming soon on the Byakko and Fenrirs)
For the first time, supernaturals, humans and machines have
worked together, and no one cares what someone is. However,
these days, the only question is whether their loyalties are to
Dr. Black or to fighting Dr. Black. Many supernatural resistance
groups were destroyed, like Red Moon, Black Sun and even a
rebuilt Ragnorok. Now what's left is trying to build a final
resistance group to take on Dr. Black. After Dr. Black recovered
meteors from the meteor shower that destroyed much of the
Americas, he found a new power source for his newest generation
of supernatural hunter reploids that act as his police force and
hunters to hunt down resistance groups. The power is simply
referred to as "evil energy" due to the energy's dark nature.
Areas of the World:
- Dr. Black's Territory (Main Part of Asian Continent): This
area is perhaps the largest livable area. This covers almost all
of the livable area of Asia, and all of this territory is
controlled by Dr. Black. This area has most of the world's
available resources for living, with many of the cities being
heavily protected by force fields and domes in order to protect
it from any radiation or dangerous plagues that are carried on
air currents. For the most part, Dr. Black's territory has the
best standard of living, but those in these areas are expected
to have absolute loyalty to Dr. Black. This area is under very
strict rule, and anyone suspected of helping resistance groups
is immediately hunted down and killed. Resistance groups tend to
try and avoid living in this area, since Dr. Black's forces are
extremely good at hunting down traitors and keep a very close
eye on resources used for traitors supplying the resistance.
- Space Station Alpha and Beta (Abandoned): During the natural
disasters that plagued the world, the world tried to build space
colonies to live on, hoping that they could move into space
rather than try to survive on the world they believed was dying.
These two space colonies, though, couldn't handle the amount of
resources needed to keep the population alive, so most had to
continue living on earth, as it took more manpower to keep the
stations going than was gained from resources developed on the
colonies. Now there are only two colonies that haven't either
fallen back to earth or burned up in the atmosphere, which are
Alpha and Beta. These stations are mostly abandoned these days,
though some people still take ships to the colonies hoping to
find left over resources or use what little resources are there.
However, the biggest problem is that the power generated doesn't
allow for enough creation of new resources to be worth it when
there are better places in the world to take resources from.
This area has the largest populations left in the known world.
- Underground Railroads (Resistance Territories): The resistance
has done their best to survive, and as they have, they've
developed plenty of ways to try and get around. Among these are
underground groups that live deep in underground cities. Most of
this is outside of Black's territories, with the resistance
having connections to smaller groups that live outside of the
territories and have their own resources. Though most of these
areas are small and usually can't sustain large populations. The
Resistance operates by trying to steal resources from Dr.
Black's territory, or using any other territories they can to
try and get what they need to mount a final attack on Dr. Black
and his forces. Luckily, the underground railroads, as they were
termed, provide a lot of protection from the elements, and have
managed to connect many cities in what is still livable in
Europe. There are even some underground civilizations that have
tried to build on retreating underground. Luckily, most of these
underground areas also have mines where good resources are mined
and used to help keep the city going.
- Abandoned European Cities (Beware of Dangerous Creatures): In
much of Europe, the area has become either unlivable or was part
of the meteor storm which left much of the areas unlivable.
However, in the aftermath, the cities are able to be traversed,
but with one major problems. Radiation and evil energy has
mutated the creatures that still live in these areas, making
them much stronger and much more dangerous, making exploring
these areas extremely difficult. Many of these creatures have
even evolved to kill supernatural creatures and people, with
some even being able to kill angels and demons. There are still
some resources people can find in these areas if they are lucky,
such as certain canned goods that are still usable, or certain
items like guns and tech if they haven't been too damaged. Just
be careful of the mutated creatures that live in this area, as
they are not usually very friendly when people enter what they
perceive as their territory.
- Eurasia Nature Zones (Forbidden Territory): During one of the
space colonies that fell to earth in one of the worse disasters,
no one expected that nature preservation tech on the space
colony was still functioning, allowing nature to return to the
area. The plants that have sprouted in this territory have
become resistance to radiation, as well as being able to survive
without sunlight thanks to the machines still active in the
area. This area is completely forbidden territory, even by Dr.
Black's crew, due to the fact that this area is perhaps one of
the only hopes for returning nature to the earth as the nature
eventually spreads and starts covering more of the European and
Asian continents. Animals have also taken up residence here, and
the natural order has slowly started to re-balance and adapt. As
such, humans, robots and supernaturals are forbidden from
entering this area unless given explicit permission from the
mass of groups that control the known governments of the world,
which includes Dr. Black. Anyone else is usually killed by the
area's guardians who hunt down anyone who trespasses in the
area.
- African Desert Zones (Dangerous Territory): Not only is this
dangerous territory, but the environment has such rapid
temperature changes and harsh climates that almost no one can
survive here any longer. Even those with great adaptability
usually can't adapt to the rapid changes and the harsh climates,
especially with dangerous creatures who live in these regions
who hunt down and eat anything they can find. This is a mostly
unlivable territory, which is mostly desert. Those that travel
through here often don't survive the hottest parts of the day
without cooking alive or the coldest nights without freezing to
death. And if the harsh climates don't get you, the mutated
creatures will. This area has almost no resources due to it
being mostly desert, as even the cities that were in the
southern half of the continent are almost completely
inaccessible except through the desert, and have mostly been
destroyed.
- Japan Islands (Mostly Small Neutral Zones): One of the only
livable areas in the Asian continent not controlled by Dr.
Black. There are small zones of population here and there, with
most of them being pretty small in nature, and not large enough
to sustain large populations. As such, Dr. Black hasn't done
much in this territory, since most of Japan is just neutral, not
getting involved in the fights between Dr. Black and the
resistance groups. These areas are too small for Dr. Black to
gain any resources from, so he typically leaves the areas alone,
and the Japan Islands don't have the resources to support the
resistance, so the resistance is often rejected from this
territory. The area is just as dangerous as anywhere else, but
the population has mostly managed to stay out of dangerous
areas. And the populations are typically small enough to not be
threats to some of the creatures in their territory, so they are
mostly left alone by the monsters that lurk outside the cities.
Though travel outside the cities tends to be dangerous.
- Australian Territories (Dangerous Territory): This area is
sparsely populated, and for good reason. This is perhaps one of
the most popular areas for those that want to study the
mutations of creatures, though a very dangerous place to do so.
Most of the continent is controlled by the Fenrirs and the
Byakko, two races of building sized creatures that now are quite
numerous. Even supernaturals and reploids have a hard time
surviving these creatures, who have evolved to take down even
the toughest of humans, robots and supernaturals. For the most
part, this area is very dangerous, as there are 15 feet tall
bugs that devour people, and even more dangerous creatures. Many
have tried to tame the Fenrirs and Byakko, but not even Dr.
Black's forces could do so, making this a dangerous area. For
the most part, this area is only unlivable due to the creatures
there.
- Seas and Oceans (Beware of radiation and ash): Very few people
have developed ocean cities and cities to sit in the sea. This
is a bit dangerous, due to the contamination of the sea, but
thankfully, tech has made it much easier to decontaminate water
to use as a resource. For the most part, the oceans are a
dangerous place, as the areas must have domes and shields to
protect them from the radiation and ash that still plagues much
of the seas and oceans. Most cities populations cannot leave the
cities they live in, and most have to deal with being out at sea
all of the time. These cities aren't too big, due to not having
the best agricultural tech to grow food, and cannot sustain a
large population. These areas are controlled by special devices
under the city which regulate their level and can even pull the
cities underwater in times of crisis to try and handle harsh
tides or tsunamis. The biggest threat in this is tech failure of
the city itself, due to water's salt and other minerals in ocean
water sometimes overwhelming filters, which can have devastating
effects on the city if it is not dealt with. Luckily, the cities
put a huge focus on their tech, and work to make sure everything
works properly.
- The Americas: The Unlivable Zones: Almost the entirety of
North America and South America are completely unlivable. The
volcanic ash, the meteor shower, and many other natural
disasters have pretty much ruined this side of the world. This
area cannot be traversed without heavy equipment and special
shielding units to protect them from the elements. For the most
part, there is nothing left in these zones that hasn't been
destroyed by disasters or explosions of power plants and other
areas that have become unstable due to lack of control by
humans. This area is mostly abandoned, and the only time people
come to this area is to either study the Yellowstone Caldera
super volcano, or people who are trying to study the evil energy
generated by meteors which are the most abundant in these zones.
These areas have no life in them at all, not even animals, due
to nothing being able to survive the radiated and ashy
environments. And due to the massive heat and magma still being
generated by the Caldera super volcano, no research settlements
are built here, with most of their research done from the planes
and ships that can fly over.
Current Notable Groups:
- Dr. Black's Forces: These forces are led by Dr. Black. Most of
these forces live in Dr. Black's territory, or may venture
outside to find new possible places of expansion for the
territory. Dr. Black is a pretty brilliant scientist, and has a
number of humans and supernaturals working for him, many of
which are cybernetically enhanced. One of the bigger threats is
the supernatural hunter reploids who work for Dr. Black, who are
skilled enough to take on many higher level supernaturals. Dr.
Black has plenty of forces at his disposal, and despite seeming
like a senile old man, he is actually still very dangerous. And
most dangerously is his closest bodyguard, Omega. Omega is the
worst opponent anyone can face, and one of Dr. Black's greatest
creations. Those who know or have seen Omega in action usually
figure out quick that Dr. Black won't be easy to get to with him
around.
- The Resistance: There are many resistance groups spread over
Europe, and Asia. Most of the groups have to scavenge for things
like food, medicine or sometimes they have to steal it from Dr.
Black's forces. For the most part, the Resistance groups have
continued to mobilize and try to come up with a counter attack
plan to Dr. Black. One of the larger groups is known as the
Democratic Republic, who aims to create a democracy once Dr.
Black is removed from power. The groups all want Dr. Black out
of the picture, but cannot organize into larger groups due to
the risk of being hunted down and destroyed. After the
destruction of the Maverick Hunters, resistance groups have been
careful about not building groups that might put them too far
into the open where Dr. Black can easily wipe them out.
- The Australian Liberation Front: This group is the group that
lives on the edge of Australia. This group's main purpose is not
getting involved with the fight against Dr. Black, but they are
trying to study the Byakko and the Fenrirs. This group is made
up mostly of scientists, and their created reploids to protect
them from danger. There is a subsection of this group called the
New Reploid Alliance that seeks to rebuild the Reploid Alliance
that was destroyed by Dr. Black so that they can hopefully take
on Dr. Black's forces alongside the resistance. However, this is
secondary to their main goal, which is figuring out a way to
liberate Australia from all the dangerous creatures, and hopes
to figure out a way to either stop or drive out the Fenrirs and
the Byakko. This group is mostly nonviolent, and operates in
special labs near the coasts of Australia, since going too far
inland is usually met by being attacked by the local Fenrirs and
Byakkos.
- The Japanese Islands Officiary: This is the neutral government
that runs Japan. The Japanese government handles governing the
Japanese Islands, as well as organizing the military to keep the
towns safe from mutated monsters and from groups like Dr.
Black's forces. The Japanese government doesn't ally with Dr.
Black or with the Resistance, preferring to stay neutral. Unless
one group makes a move against Japan, the Japanese government
won't get involved. The Japanese are known for being
technologically advanced in this day and age, and have some of
the best neutral territories in the world despite the monsters
that the military is often in constant fighting with. The
Japanese government is pretty well respected by it's people, as
they can't really afford to make questionable deals in the
current day and age. While most people have a typical distrust
of government, they at least know the government won't try to
kill them for opposing, due to the Japanese government trying to
be for the people, rather than working against the people since
they feel fighting with their support is better than fighting
without their support.
