Re: Zelpharia's Little Secret

Rosetta feels bad a bit for possibly making Hei feel
uncomfortable when she hears his remarks. Then Kindron's words
have her realizing that the three of them have something in
common. Rosetta: Sorry if I made you a bit uncomfortable, Hei.
She says to Hei with an apologetic look. Rosetta then takes a
breath and sighs as she speaks to both Hei and Kindron. Rosetta:
I do know how you feel and what it's like not to communicate
well with others.. for me, outside of family. A lot of students
at the Celestian academy were pretty much scared of me and those
who didn't run tended to bully the hell out of me. A lot of
Celestian people avoid me like the plague because they're afraid
I'll take over their minds like some long dead Dark Time Lord.
The experience kinda pushed me to find places of solitude like
Frank's place when I could take leave from school. I would say
hanging out with Vladimir, but he's a bit of an ass. It wasn't
until I joined Starfleet and Torchwood that I started trying to
make friends. She then takes a swallow of her drink. Rosetta: I
also get unnerved sometimes when I can't read someone's emotions
which throws my social interactions off. It's kinda like being
blind to psychic.
Zelpharia frowns a bit as she remembers some of the times
Rosetta had called or come home upset because of the bullying.
It was one of the reasons why Zelpharia eventually pulled
Rosetta and enrolled her at other academies for psychics. She
remains quiet and sips her drink.
Laura: I never mentioned my sisters before because they be the
black sheep of the family. Not evil though. They be what some
call Gold Diggers or Stepford wives. They snub the family and
the Coven for money and luxury, and Mama never forgave them. So
we never spoke about them unless they plan to visit which be
rare.. She then takes a sip of her drink. Laura: ..and usually
mean they need something they can't do or seeing if one of them
can steal or borrow something I got.. She then takes another
drink and ends with a more sparky finish. Laura: ..which is
usually my spell books or the man I be with.

Though Hei doesn't change expressions much, he does think for a
moment. Hei: I spent a long time avoiding befriending others
when I was the guardian of Hell's Gate... The price for my power
was that others had to suffer for me. That was the cost of my
contract. So I got used to having no one, knowing they'd die if
I had to use my contract. It was easier to push people away. And
then at some point, I had pretty much turned most of the world
against me when I became an assassin. He explains. These days,
my contract with Hell's Gate is fulfilled, so I no longer have
to worry about it. But I know what it's like to have no one
accept you. I don't know what being psychic is like, but I've
always been closed off emotionally. I just had to control the
pain, the anger, and the hatred... Or else I knew it would
devour me one day. That control became even more important when
I became a dracopyre after I died and was brought back. I have
to control my emotions completely because if I let my emotions
get out of control, my dracopyre emotional amplification will
cause major problems. So I have to stay the way I am.
Kindron: Wow... Rosetta sounds so much like Dufort. I'm pretty
sure he told me similar stories of those kinds of things
happening to him because he had so much psychic potential.
Something about how people either tried to use his psychic
potential, feared his psychic power, or they just outright
wouldn't bother befriending him unless they had something to
gain. It became the reason he closed himself off to people and
no longer trusts people. He says to Zelpharia, not really
knowing how much Dufort had told her about his past, and not
knowing that Zeph had pretty much already made that observation
previously about how similar Dufort and Rosetta were in that
regard.
Qrow sighs. Qrow: Why do I feel like that meeting is going to go
south? He says after Laura explains her sisters.

Rosetta listens to Hei and feels bad for him. She only worries
about dark spirits finding out about her relationships whereas
he has to worry about losing himself to his emotions. Rosetta:
Wow.. now there's a past that sounds rougher than mine. Bullying
was horrible while I had a problem with the Pleaideans trying to
use my powers to their power grab advantage in the solar system.
I never had to deal with anything like Hell's Gate contracts and
being so emotionally controlled.. except anger. She says to Hei
as she thinks about her past. Rosetta: I have a big problem with
anger and my powers. The more angry I get then the bigger
chances of me getting very destructive which combine telekinesis
with my elementals can get really ugly. I discovered that after
one particular bully in the Celestian academy finally pushed me
to my breaking point. I ended up levitating him by his underwear
to the top pointed spire of one of the academy's dorms while
zapping him in the ass with white lightning. The kid has been
scared of heights since. She grins a bit as she thinks about
that incident as she's not getting to graphic in what had
happened. Rosetta: Mom removed me from the academy not too long
after that incident and put me in a Pleaidean academy for
psychics. Not like that was much better. The Pleaidean
government thought I would make a great weapon against the
neighboring planet and tried to use the facade of kindness and
acceptance to lure me to their cause. They were f*cking c0cky
about their confidence in their own psychic powers by thinking
that I wasn't strong enough to get past their mental barriers. I
got angry about the manipulation, and according to witnesses,
ripped the Pleaidean government building down with dark fire and
telekinesis. Though the funniest time I got mad was as a kid
when Vlad p*ssed me off and I forced him to turn into a
hellhound version of a platypus.. but yeah, I really should
learn more about emotional control from someone like you.
Zelpharia looks to Kindron and nods a bit. Zelpharia: Dufort has
told Rosetta and I some of what he's been through, and it's
eerie how similar their pasts really are when it comes to
treatment. Dufort did get lucky though with the Wykoth of his
universe. Rosetta still needs more training but that has been
hard since psychics of hers and Dufort's caliber are so rare in
this universe. Then compound psychic abilities with elemental
powers of the Darkfire family and you have a recipe for either
fear or obsession with manipulating the kids for power hunger. I
just wish I had remembered about that night in Paris sooner so
at least your father could have helped in her training.
Zelpharia's eyes go wide as she hears Rosetta begin talking
about where she gets her anger from and start mentioning Zeph's
untrained ability of distortion lightning.
She then smirks a bit as she notices that Kindron has gotten her
mother's attention and continues with talking to Hei. Rosetta:
You could say that I got Mom's temper because when she gets
really mad then she gets all sparky with distortion lightni...
Rosetta is quickly cut off by Zelpharia with a soft elbow jab to
the side and a glare that says Zelpharia doesn't want anyone
knowing about her distortion lightning outside of the family.
Laura: Because this type of family reunion in my family usually
does go south. Laura says with a sigh and then takes a sip of
her drink. Laura: My sisters claim they're visiting to meet you
and see our parents for their 3,oooth wedding anniversary, but
it never be that simple with those two as they always need or
want something and things tend to go very wrong while they be in
town. She then thinks of something when it comes to her sisters.
Laura: As a matter of fact, I would like for Hei to take one of
my books back to Black Sun for safe keeping. They caused the
Last Island Hurricane of 1856 the last time Fiona and Avril got
a hold of it for a fortune spell, and I think that between Hei,
Alice, and Kendrix that Livre des Arts Sombres will be kept
safely away from the troublesome duo.

Hei: I'd say emotional control is definitely where you should
start. I can't say much about psychic powers, but Darkfire
abilities take discipline and mental fortitude to control.
Without it, your powers can go wild, which is why many in our
family practice mental training before they start using
elemental abilities. It's a fundamental skill in our clan. My
use of it is just more advanced since I've had to control
stronger thoughts than most. He explains to Rosetta.
Kindron ignores the comment about the distortion lightning, even
though he figured out what Rosetta was going to say, but decides
not to mention it since it was obvious Zeph didn't want people
to know. Kindron: Yeah... Dufort did get lucky. But because he
did have a mentor who helped him control his power, I'd say he's
the best person to train you. I'd say, having him teach you what
his mentor taught him may be a way for him to teach you, but
also for you guys to bond as brother and sister. I know Dufort
has the ability to overpower psychic shields to read people's
minds, and he has the ability to copy most psychic powers as
long as they don't require powers he doesn't have. He thinks for
a moment. I'd be happy to help with your training too, but I
don't have psychic power, so I can't really help too much there.
But if you want to learn about lightning, I can definitely teach
you lightning tricks most people won't know. I developed my own
lightning alchemy. It would take a bit of effort to teach you
some of the techniques without magic, but I think I could manage
it. He says to Rosetta, being careful to avoid talking about
distortion power since he figured Zeph didn't want that part of
the power discussed, and knew time lords often had
electrokinesis power.
Qrow: Actually... If it's a magic book, give it to Wolfboy. He
can store it in a safe place only he can access using his
alchemic magic training, and he understands magic so that he
won't accidentally activate anything in the book. With his
discipline in magic, I'd say he's better to guard the book and
keep it secret.

Rosetta listens to both Hei and Kindron with a thoughtful look
as she sips on her drink. She does send a quick telepathic
message to Zelpharia. Rosetta: "Damnit, Mom. That elbow hurt.
Plus Jack and I have been bugging you forever about talking to
the Darkfires for training with the distortion lightning. I will
say something one way or another if you don't. End of story."
She then picks up the bottle and pours a more in her glass as
she speaks. Rosetta: Mom has me training with Dufort because of
his level in skill and experience. She says it's better than
letting me anywhere near this universe's version of Wykoth. When
it comes to anger control though, it sounds like Hei is the Kung
Fu master in that department and perhaps someone else I should
train with as well. She caps and put the bottle down. If anyone
is paying attention, then they would notice that Rosetta is
drinking faster with bigger swallows than Qrow, Zelpharia, and
definitely Laura. Rosetta: Lightning I definitely could use help
with since I can use white lightning. I can probably adapted
white lightning techniques to be used with the raw purifying
psychic energy that I can produce. In which I definitely want
more purification training considering what I do for the
Federation from time to time, and Pops says you're the best for
that kind of training, Kindron. Sounds like I'm going to be
getting plenty of quality time with the family. At least this
quality time won't involve Vladimir and his painful pranks. She
says as she takes a swallow of her drink.
Zelpharia sighs as she hears Rosetta's telepathic message to her
and takes a long swallow of her drink. Zelpharia then picks up
Rosetta's bottle and pours herself another drink. She then caps
and places the bottle down with a look of hesitation as Rosetta
speaks to Hei and Kindron. She knows that Rosetta wasn't going
to make things easy on her about this subject and mentally
curses Jack for ever say anything about her distortion lightning
to any of her kids.
Laura takes a sip of her drink and thinks as Qrow explains why
Kindron would be a better choice. She thinks about how he might
be able to not just protect the book better but might also be
able to protect others from the book. Laura: Actually you be
right about Kindron being a better choice to protect the book.
He could also set up a protection to protect others from the
book. The Livre des Arts Sombres is a book of coven forbidden
black magic and has mighty powerful evil spirits attached to
it.. not dark spirits.. evil witch spirits self-imprisoned in
pages to be used as servants and advisors. She says the last
part to clarify about why the spell book should have two types
of protections instead of just hiding it. She knows that Qrow
would know the difference but also knows how much he's been
going through.

Kindron: I can definitely help with the purification training. I
actually got some really good training from my mother's spirit
not long ago. She taught me the best ways to attack with spirit
purification and it's boosted my ability to take down dark
spirits pretty heavily. So I'd be happy to help on that front.
He says cheerfully to Rosetta.
Hei: Actually... I hate to say this, but Kindron is the one you
want to learn from in terms of emotional control. Where I can
control my emotions and remain cold, Kindron controls his
emotions to the point where he can let his emotions out without
it affecting his power. He says to Rosetta. I don't like to
admit it, but in that regard, he's a better tutor than me for
that kind of training if you want to keep some of your emotional
capabilities. I can control myself, sure, but Kindron controls
himself and can still use his emotions.
Qrow: I didn't know it was an evil book. The book doesn't have
any dark arts in it, does it? If so then we may not be able to
give it to Wolfboy... He's got a dark spirit in his arm that
absorbs dark arts, and we don't want to make his arm any worse
than it already is. If it's just evil energy, then he can handle
that, but dark arts are the one thing he shouldn't be around. He
explains to Laura. The reason why Kindron always wore bandages
over one of his arms was due to the fact he had a dark spirit in
his arm that he couldn't get rid of, and purification couldn't
remove it completely. And once Kindron learned spirit
purification, the spirit became immune to purification energy.
Whenever Kindron was around dark arts, his arm would absorb dark
arts powers (even though Kindron tried to keep it suppressed as
best he could).

Rosetta listens to Kindron and Hei as she sips her drink.
Rosetta: So basically Kindron is the guy to go to for most of
the things I need help refining my training in from what I
understand. It seems like people are having me avoid becoming
apathetic when it comes to controlling my emotions. She says the
second sentence with a bit of a laugh. She then addresses Hei
with a teasing smile. Rosetta: At least tell me you can help me
with dark fire and learning more about stealth and combat or
should I also go to K for that too? She says with a jocular
tone. Rosetta: I figure the whole Assassin's Creed demeanor
comes with training in that field after all.
Zelpharia drinks her drink as Kindron, Hei, and Rosetta speak to
each other. She snickers a bit as Rosetta teases Hei a little.
Zelpharia can tell that Rosetta is just trying to find out more
about the guys in her own special way.. and glad that Rosetta's
focus is back on the guys.
Laura: Witches call black magic the "dark arts" because it is
evil, dark magic meant for greed, lust, and harm and often
involves summoning and working with evil entities like demons,
undead, and dark gods. It have nothing to do with dark spirits
themselves. She says as she places a comforting hand on Qrow's
hand. Laura: The spirits attached to it are three witches of the
Geotia Gods, aka over half of Hell's nobility including King
Satan. They sacrificed their bodies and souls for their evil,
dark coven to make the Livre des Arts Sombres. It's literally
their flesh turned into pages and binding and written in their
blood, and their spirits protect and serve the book and its
user. Sort of a more evil version of the Key of King Solomon.
It's wrapped in white silks blessed by Pope Benedict II
currently and locked in a blessed safe. Laura then thinks about
Kindron's arm after describing the Livre des Arts Sombres.
Laura: Could that still be a problem for Kindron because I could
take it to that priest version of Hei? Though Father Hei might
try to destroy it and find out the same thing I did when I tried
to destroy it.

Hei: Honestly, you'd be better off training with our family's
butler. He's the one that trained me in assassin techniques and
combat. He stops, realizing it sounded like he didn't want to
train Rosetta, which wasn't what he intended. Sorry if it sounds
like I'm trying to avoid training you, I've just not had the
best luck with training people, and honestly there are better
people to train with than me.
Kindron: I'm sure it will be fine. You can train with both of
us. It's not like I've had the best luck with students either,
but we still gotta try or it will never get better. He says,
putting his hand on Hei's shoulder.
Qrow: Okay... As long as it's not dark spirit-based power. He
says in response to Laura's first comment about it being evil
energy. We've already tried almost every manner of purification
on Wolf-boy's arm, and he said he tried going to the Iscariot
and the White Council. The dark spirit became immune to spirit
purification after Kindron learned magic. It would take spirit
destruction to completely destroy the dark spirit, and that
would most likely destroy Wolf-boy's soul too. The only holy
purification that works only purifies the dark spirits generated
in the arm by the main dark spirit, and not the actual dark
spirit. That's all Kindron can seem to do for now. He hasn't
figured out a way to cast out the dark spirit. It's partially
bonded to his soul at this point, and we can't remove it safely.
The Werewolf Alchemists are supposedly working on a way to try
and remove it safely. He says, looking down as he explains.
Kindron's dark spirit in his arm was not a good subject for
Qrow, as Qrow worried that Kindron will one day be overtaken by
the dark spirit in his arm.

Rosetta: It's not just training for me, Hei. It's spending time
with brothers and a father I just learned about and learning who
they are. I've felt different than everyone else even my own
family for my whole life because of not knowing. Now I get a
chance to learn why. She says to Hei with a sigh and a soft
reassuring smile. Rosetta: Besides you can't be any worse at
training someone than my either of my other brothers, and as
both Mom and Jack always say, you can't get better at something
if you don't actually try working at becoming better at it. Her
look then brightens up as she thinks of something. Rosetta:
Instead of thinking of it as teaching, think of it as spending
time with a younger sibling and having fun even if it's sparring
and helping me refine skills. Isn't that what big brothers are
for other than scaring potential boyfriends and playing pranks?
Zelpharia sits quietly and sips her drink until towards the end
of Rosetta's response to Hei. Zelpharia stifles a snicker by
taking a sip of her drink as she has never been sure if Hei
actually knows how to have fun like other people. She's not even
sure if he even played games like hide-n-go-seek when he was a
kid, and Hei's controlled emotion demeanor doesn't help with
figuring that out.
Laura listens to Qrow as he talks about the dark spirit in
Kindron's arm and how it's difficult to remove. She has known
both Anna and Keir for a long time and has learned quite a bit
about dark spirits from them along with what she's learned from
her spirit user family and friends. Laura: Dark spirit arts are
strictly forbidden in both the Coven and in my family. An evil
ancestor of my Papa had been a dark spirit arts user and went
insane from it becoming a serial killer in France in 1432 so
understand why you were apprehensive about the Livre des Arts
Sombres. The last thing I want to do is put Kindron in more
danger. Laura then pulls her hand back as she thinks about Keir
and what she's learned of his abilities including removing
possessing and attached spirits, including dark spirits, from
people. She then frowns a bit as she thinks about something
else. Laura: Thinking about Kindron's little dark spirit
problem, why I be the last one to hear about this? And why no
one ask me if I know a way or someone who might be able to
remove it? I may not be his mama, but I still care about Kindron
as family.
From the Peanut Gallery at the other end of the bar, Jax lets
out a noticeable laugh as he hears the familiar tone of a wife
with hurt feelings. Jax: I may b*tch about my wife, but at least
I to talk to her about family problems of life and death
circumstances. He says aloud to himself about what he just heard
of Qrow and Laura's conversation.

Hei: I never really got much chance to do anything like that.
When I was a kid, I thought I was an only child, so the only
company I had were my parents and our butler Alastair. I didn't
actually meet any of my siblings until after I was an adult.
Kindron shrugs at Hei's response. Kindron: Hey... At least you
knew dad and your mom when you were little. I didn't even meet
anyone in our family until I got to London and met you and dad
here. Hell, I had to learn which of my parents was the werewolf
and which was the vampire because my memories were so messed up
from when I was a child. All I know was that I was a werepyre,
and I only knew that because I was born looking like a werewolf
with vampire wings. He says jokingly. Those that knew him or
heard him talk about his past would probably know that Kindron
had suffered some sort of trauma during the Darkfire/Darkwolf
battle that had left his childhood memories fuzzy or sometimes
even wrong. No one had been able to figure out what happened to
his mind as a child, though it seemed that Kindron wasn't really
affected these days by it, since he was able to make jokes about
it.
Qrow shrugs. Qrow: Sorry. I thought everyone knew at this point
about Wolfboy's arm. He doesn't exactly keep it secret, and
groups like the werewolf alchemists are actively researching a
way to remove the dark spirit from his arm. I honestly figured
he'd have told you about it at some point. He'd said he looked
into almost every possible solution. Keyword "almost" I guess...
He explains to Laura.
