Jack: Then please have as much as you want. I understand what
it's like to eat prison food though I'm sure it's improved since
1563. Jack then takes a bite of his pizza and leans back a bit.
Jack: Military rations during World War II weren't much better..
actually had one soldier in my unit tell me that prison food in
Scotland Yard tasted better even without salt and pepper.
Zelpharia does grab a plate and a slice. Zelpharia: Colton's
gastro disaster of traditional Western beans and meat is
something you both might want to avoid. I'm talking baked beans
with portions of the cow that I can't identify. Gwen said that
prisoners eat better than what Colton fed her, Rosetta, and I
that day. She says with a laugh and then takes a bite of pizza.

eater. He says as he eats his pizza.

Jack: Always a good thing around here along with having a cast
iron constitution. Jack says as he takes a another bite of
pizza. Jack: But if you like barbeque, then make sure you don't
use Myfanwy's BBQ sauce. It's what we use so she knows what
she's allowed to eat and not allowed to eat so you don't want to
confuse her.
Zelpharia: Myfanwy is Torchwood's resident pterodactyl and
mascot. She's very sweet and adores a good scratch between the
wings so she won't attack. Zelpharia says just to clarify who
and what Myfanwy is. She then takes a bite of her pizza.
Jack: Unless you smell like her BBQ sauce. Jack says with a
little bit of food in his mouth. He then swallows and continues.
Jack: We normally keep her sauce with her food so there's rarely
a confusion.
Zelpharia: Unless you're Colton trying to make one of his BBQ
dishes and have your lunch stolen because you thought the sauce
smelled good.
Jack: Oh that was a bad day for poor Myfanwy. Those habaneros
really didn't agree with her.

eating.

Zelpharia takes a bite and swallow her food after chewing.
Zelpharia: I just realized that we've gotten off the original
topic and now talking about food while we have several nosey
people wondering what's going on in here.
Jack: True, but you can't expect us to come up with a good plan
on an empty stomach, can you? That response gets a sigh and a
head shake from Zelpharia as a reply in response. Jack then eats
another bite and answers. Jack: How about this? We talk to that
Nikki girl over at Hellsing to see if she has some fancy 41st
century technology that might be able to get an undetectable
recording of events.
Zelpharia: We could do that, but her technology isn't exactly
what we all would call normal... She replies to Jack with a bit
of concern in her mind that Dufort may sense magic being used if
it's not done right.

Dufort just listens to them talk about Nikki silently as he
continues eating.

Jack: Come on. It's magic combined with technology, Zeph. Maybe
the girl has some kind of magic camcorder that uses a scrying
spell in order to record from a safe distance. Jack says to
Zelpharia with a look of "really" as he puts his slice of pizza
down on his plate.
Zelpharia: But we don't know if there will be an adverse side
effects on whoever uses such magic technology. Hiroshi and
Feling have told me some stories about unperfected techno-wizard
technology. She says to Jack with a logical tone of voice.
Jack: I'll risk the damn side effects if it means recording from
a distance that Ford and the dark spirit guy can't detect us
from. Of course, Jack is referring to Dufort when he says the
name Ford.. looking like Dufort might have a Torchwood nickname.
Jack then looks to Dufort. Jack: Do you think that you would be
able to sense magic recording tech if it's far enough away?

Dufort: If it were far enough away, I wouldn't be able to sense
it. I would probably be limited to the area around the building
in terms of any magic I would sense. When we jump out of the
window and escape, we'd have to not be too close to where I
would be escaping. It could definitely work. Whether it's magic
tech or normal tech, as long as we're far enough away, we should
be able to keep it from hitting my senses.

After Dufort answers, Jack looks to Zelpharia with a "well?"
look on his face. Jack: Well, Zelpharia? Think about it this
way. A camcorder based on magic technology would give us a
better advantage to be out of Ford's range of senses while being
able to record the evidence needed to prove his case.
Zelpharia gets thoughtful as Dufort speaks and then gives Jack a
look that just needs her tongue sticking out at him to complete
it. Zelpharia: Fine. You have a very good argument as long as
the magic technology can keep us out of range of Dufort's
senses. I admit that it is a good idea to speak with Nikki about
it, but you're using it and taking the risk of adverse side
effects, Jack.
Jack: That's fine as long as it can help Ford. I'll take the
risks for family. Jack then picks his slice of pizza up and
takes a bite. He then looks at Dufort. Jack: So, Ford, how far
do your senses reach out?
Meanwhile in the main team office space (segue):
Franklin had come out of his hiding spot and leans against one
of the cast iron fence railings near Rosetta's desk. Franklin:
Okay.. so there's been no yelling at Zeph and this kid for Zeph
going behind Pops' back, and they're eating a perfectly normal
pizza while chit-chatting about whatever. While we're out here
with Colton's famous everything pizza and Ianto's pepperoni,
ham, black olives, and pineapple. Am I getting this right?
Franklin says to everyone in the room in general. He's been
rather calm and nonchalant about everything externally but
inside he's dying to find out more about Dufort. He's already
figured out that Dufort must be an alternate kid but really
wondering which of Zelpharia's kids that Dufort is an alternate
of. Franklin has Exiles Kendrix as an alternate of him it seems
like after finding out that both have the exact same powers
except one is a dhampir who took more after his mother while
Franklin is human and celestian. Franklin is really hoping that
Dufort is a male alternate of Rosetta and Vladimir. He doesn't
think the family could handle two Vladimirs.
Rosetta: Yeeeeeeep... that's basically right. She says to
Franklin and then takes a bite of the salad Ianto made sure to
order for her. Rosetta reads Franklin like a book and shakes her
head a bit. She could already tell that Dufort is going to be
like herself which is actually a relief and curiosity to her.
She's also glad that Dufort definitely doesn't sense like an
alternate Vladimir.
Vladimir: Rosie, are you eating a salad? Vladimir doesn't really
have any feelings of curiosity towards Dufort. As far as he's
concerned, Dufort is just another alternate sibling who will
probably get on his ass about his less scrupulous tactics,
probably call him a bastard a few times, and want to throttle
him... until Vladimir does something that reminds them that he's
still family.
Rosetta: Yes.. yes, I am and enjoying it too. She says to him
and then takes another bite in away that says she's not going to
let Vladimir ruin what she's eating.
Vladimir: You're a damn dhampir. What damn proper dhampir eats a
damn salad? Vladimir says in an embarrassed tone of voice and
almost face palms.
Rosetta: A dhampir who already put down six pancakes, four over
easy eggs, three sausage links, three strips of bacon, a decent
helping of sliced fried haggis, a slab of breakfast ham, and
four cups of Irish coffee with Jameson for breakfast. She says
without an ounce of sarcasm because she actually did have a
breakfast that big. The Irish coffee that Rosetta had mentioned
is just a plain cup of coffee with two shots of Jameson Irish
whisky and cream.
Vladimir: I swear that your unknown biological father is part
horse with how much you can eat sometimes.
Rosetta just makes a horse neighing sound at Vladimir and then
keeps eating her salad which makes Franklin, Colton, and Ianto
all laugh at the two of them.

Dufort: My senses can vary. It depends on what I'm doing and how
much focus I put in. If I'm not in a fight, they could extend
across the street from the building. But once I got into the
fight in the office, I couldn't focus beyond the hallway and the
room that dark spirit guy was in. Then when I left, my senses
were focused on the building and the dark spirits that I assumed
would follow me. I can position us in a place that should
theoretically avoid any of my senses. He explains before
finishing the pizza on his plate.
