Welcome to Torchwood, Dufort

Zelpharia and Colton walk out of Tara which disguised her normal
TARDIS form as utility shed next to the station where Dufort had
been imprisoned. She knew that he was working on a possible deal
between Lorenzo and the FBI, but she also knew that Lorenzo
would probably have to still run through higher channels. Like
all legal processes, British was just as slow. Zelpharia had a
little talk with the highest authority over Torchwood which
regardless of agreements isn't UNIT. Now she has Dufort's ticket
out upon several agreements including Dufort's continuing
cooperation with Lorenzo and the FBI. Zelpharia and Colton walk
around the station corner along the sidewalk towards the main
entrance. She knew that Lorenzo would be busy so he wouldn't be
around to ask questions. Colton is wearing his black Stetson hat
and gives Zelpharia a sideways look. Colton: So you really think
that paper will work? He says with his American accent.
Zelpharia: Of course. Zelpharia says with confidence as they
continue walking to the main entrance.
Colton: I hate when your answers are only two words. Are we even
sure the kid is here?
Zelpharia: Nope. If he's not here, then I'm leaving Lorenzo's
official copy of royal pardon and appointment with the front
desk and we go to him directly.
Colton: I think I like short answers better. He says as he looks
forward again while Zelpharia pulls out an alien device that
enhances psychic telepathic ability and puts it on. Colton: I
didn't think we were allowed to take that stuff out of
Torchwood.
Zelpharia: Special circumstances. She says as she activates the
device. Zelpharia then telepathically speaks to Dufort.
Zelpharia: "Dufort, first I am terribly sorry that I've been
busy and only recently found out about your predicament. I will
explain more in person though. Second, could you perhaps tell me
where you might be?"

Dufort: I'm with Amenadiel in the police station. We're just
waiting for you to get here so we can finish the paperwork. He
says telepathically.

Zelpharia: "Okay, my partner and I are about to walk in the
front door. Sorry to keep you both waiting." Zelpharia replies
to Dufort as she and Colton get to the main entrance to the
police station. She looks to Colton and speaks aloud to him.
Zelpharia: Dufort is here with Amenadial and waiting for us..
and see, no brain damage or Bell's palsy from using this
telepath enhancer.
Colton: That's only because you're already a psychic. I'd
probably be a drooling mess if I'd use it. He says to her as
they walk up the couple of steps to the front door. Colton opens
the door for Zelpharia and steps to the side.
Zelpharia: Probably but at least we have a treatment. She says
as she walks past Colton and into the police station. Zelpharia:
And thank you for holding the door.
Colton: Just being proper like my mother taught me. He says as
he follows behind Zelpharia.
Once inside, Zelpharia makes sure to check in with the front
desk and show the desk sergeant their badges and paperwork. She
thanks the desk sergeant and then looks for Dufort as the desk
sergeant and another officer whisper about who Torchwood is and
what the agents do. Upon spotting Dufort and Amenadial, she tugs
on Colton and heads towards them. Zelpharia: Colton, this way.
She says to Colton as she walks towards Dufort which gets him to
follow.

As Amenadiel spots Zelpharia, he gets up and goes to greet her.
Amenadiel: You must be the agent from Torchwood. I'm Dr. Canaan.
He says, holding his hand out to shake Zelpharia's hand.

Zelpharia takes Amenadiel's hand once she gets to him.
Zelpharia: Hello, Dr. Canaan. I am Agent Zelpharia Tolodora..
She says with a friendly smile to Amenadiel and references to
Colton with a head nod towards him while lowering her after the
handshake. Zelpharia: ..and this is Agent Colton Brent.
Instead of offering his hand, Colton just lightly grips the brim
of his hat between his index finger and thumb. He then nods his
head down once in a "hat tip" style greeting. Colton: Howdy,
Doc.

Amenadiel shakes Zeph's hand, and then turns to Colton as he
tips his hat to him. Amenadiel: Agent. He says politely in
greeting to Colton. He then moves to the table and shows Zeph
the paperwork. Once you sign off on the paperwork, he's free to
go. I know you probably already did a lot of paperwork already,
but we're trying to cover all the bases and have extra paperwork
for this deal and transfer on hand. Stormstar Industries is
still making a fuss about us making a deal with the kid for what
happened, and I don't suspect they're gonna back down.
Hopefully, the extra paperwork should cover anything unexpected
that might come up. He explains to Zelpharia.
Dufort just sits quietly with his usual blank look (something
that was a result of him suppressing his emotions more than most
people would), waiting for everything to get done so he could
get leave with Zelpharia.

Zelpharia: Well between what you have and what the Queen has
covered, I believe that Stormstar Industeries will have a far
harder time than they believe. Her Majesty has her own personal
reason for getting involved, and we shall leave it at that. She
says with a confident tone as she walks over to the table.
Zelpharia: I also have paperwork from the Queen guaranteeing
Torchwood's cooperation with law enforcement, Interpol, and the
Federal Bureau of Investigation. Dufort and Gwen Cooper will act
as liaisons when and at least one will always be available. This
royal agreement also includes the use of any alien technology.
She says as she places her own paperwork down on the table for
Amenadiel to look over and sign. She then scans over the
paperwork for her to sign using her Speeding Reading psychic
ability in order to make sure everything is in order.
Colton takes a relaxed stances and studies Dufort. He hadn't
been told by Zelpharia who Dufort is while coming here but
notices something odd other than the blank look. He notices a
family similarity between Dufort and Zelpharia. Now Zelpharia
bringing him instead of Jack is making a bit more sense as he
cracks a smile.

Amenadiel's paperwork was pretty straightforward, mostly just
talking about releasing Dufort to them and the terms of the
deals Dufort made which should match up with Zelpharia's
paperwork. Amenadiel takes the paperwork to sign and reads over
it real quick before signing it. Amenadiel: I think that should
cover things here. So I think he's free to go with you guys.
Dufort looks over to Colton. Dufort: I'm a dimensional
alternate. My mother is another universe version of this
Zelpharia. He explains quickly to Colton, having read Colton's
mind due to his psychic power. Since Amenadiel had removed the
collar from Dufort's neck that negated his abilities, Dufort's
psychic powers were active again for the first time in over a
year, so Dufort's psychic power was a bit stronger than normal.

The paperwork that Amenadiel reads over is written in standard
language guaranteeing full Torchwood assistance when available,
the use of liaisons Dufort Tolodora-Darkfire and/or Gwen Cooper,
and the use of any alien technology under the supervision of
trained Torchwood personnel. It also states that Torchwood will
divulge any information or rift events that prove useful to law
enforcement cases or necessary for public protection. The
paperwork includes highest level classified authorization for
both Lorenzo and Amenadiel allowing them access to Torchwood
archives upon request. It also covers training to any officers
authorized by Lorenzo for use in laser and sonic weapons. There
is a clause that any and all of Lorenzo's or FBI's people
allowed within any Torchwood facility or use/witness of alien
technology do not speak of what is seen or used to anyone
outside of authorized personnel. If anyone is caught revealing
classified Torchwood, then the papers have an order that an
amnesia pill be administered to the offender by either a
Torchwood agent, Lorenzo, or Amenadiel. Zelpharia: Yes, this
should cover everything we need on our end while that should
cover the more open connections between Torchwood and law
enforcement. Her Majesty agrees with Agent Cooper and I that a
time has come to be more open to law enforcement and begin
putting Torchwood's collection that is deemed safe to good use.
She says as she signs the paperwork given to her from Amenadiel.
Zelpharia: I just hope the clause won't be a big bother. Can't
be letting the wrong hands find out about some of the toys
Torchwood has collected since founded by Queen Victoria.
Colton raises an eyebrow and his smile goes a bit sideways after
Dufort answers his thoughts. Colton: So your a mind reader.
Gonna have to remember that and keep myself mindful around you,
but thanks for explaining a bit more, hoss. Colton's accent is
definitely American cowboy but with a tiny hint of possibly
Greek. Colton then decides to keep the rest to thought for
Dufort to hear. Colton may not have telepathy like many
Atlanteans don't, but he still knows quite a bit about how it
works. Colton: "The fact you're an alternate kid of Zelpharia
ain't changing the fact this old law dog still has a feeling
that things may go a bit catawampous when we get back to the
office. Just only strengthens that feeling, but that can be
talked about with your alternate maw once we're done in here."

Amenadiel: I understand. I'm from the US. Government secrets are
just something we learn to deal with. He says somewhat jokingly.
I'll talk it over with Lorenzo, but I doubt it will be an issue.
Black Sun is sort of the same way whenever we work with them
because they have a lot of stuff they have to keep legally
secret. He explains to Zelpharia.
Dufort: I can do quite a lot with psychic abilities. Not just
mind reading. But anyway, I just wanted to make sure you didn't
have any misconceptions about me. He says telepathically to
Colton.
