recommend it. Dark spirit deities like me tend to get a
little... Vengeful."

Let me help you find a blissful sleep. Sure it will cost you,
but all good things do." - Karl making a deal with a human
"You managed to **** me off... Now I'm gonna make sure to send
dark spirits to torment you every night. You will never get
another restful sleep EVER again. I can't take your soul
forcefully, but I can make you wish I could." - Karl to someone
who angered him
"Don't take things so seriously, Morpheus. We know just how well
that goes. You and I cannot kill each other no matter how much
we want to, so relax! Let's have some tea or something. It's not
like we can't have some fun now and then." - Karl Halim when
Morpheus came to confront him
"So... You want a dream with rain huh? I can do that. He claps
his hands and does a joking rain dance. He notices the person
look at him confused. Damn... You humans just don't appreciate
the classics... He says before snapping his fingers and making
the rain fall. Seriously... Why does no one appreciate good
humor anymore?" - Karl trying to make a joke about doing a rain
dance
"People want to call a dark spirit god of nightmares... That's
actually not true. I seek to help humans remove their bad
dreams. But the thing you humans hate so much is that it comes
with a cost. You are so willing to throw your souls away
subconsciously, but when it comes to a conscious decision, you
agonize that it's not fair."
"Wow... I'm so flattered... A witch made a shrine for me? He
jokingly wipes his eyes. I'm just so moved to tears. I've never
had people actually worship me before. Now I know how Xeles and
Malice feel. He says jokingly. He then gets serious and shrugs.
Normally, they just whine about how their souls belong to me..."
- Karl when one of the Witches of Salem made a shrine for him
since the witch was a witch who tried to control dreams and
wanted to become Karl's follower.
During a meeting with Malice in the void.
Malice: Karl! He says cheerfully. It's been a while!
Karl: Bro! He says jokingly as he hugs Malice. It's so nice to
visit you and Saskia. It gets boring in the dream realm.
Malice: Indeed... We miss your... colorful personality here. I'm
sure Saskia will be happy to see you.
Karl: Of course! I'm always happy to hang out with the in-laws
as well. He says cheerfully. Now we just need to figure out how
to do dark spirit poker night... You, me, Saskia, Phantom and
Lord Xeles. Imagine how much fun it would be.
Malice: Buy in with 5 souls each to start? He says jokingly.
Karl: You read my mind! He says jokingly back.
"He's my little brother in a way. Lord Xeles created him as the
former lord of the dream realm in the Dark Multiverse. The God
of Dreams, so to speak. But eventually, Lord Xeles put him in
the living world so as to try and tempt humans with dreams. Now
he is the opposite of Morpheus." - Malice about Karl
"I could have done better with this one. Why is he so...
cheerfully annoying? And his name is so plain... Why did I
create this one again? Shrugs. Oh well... I can use him to
create some great artwork of fear for my home." - Xeles
sarcastically when he created Karl as a dark spirit anti-thesis
to Morpheus of the Dream Realm.
"Don't be fooled by his nature... He's a dark spirit deity. He's
the opposite of Morpheus and he sends dark spirits to try and
goad people into making deals with him. He takes their
nightmares and claims their souls. The souls are taken to the
dark dream realm, where he is able to subject them to all kinds
of nightmares. It's his own version of the Hell of Souls, but by
putting people through nightmares they can never wake from. He
can torment people in dreams, but he cannot take them to the
dream world unless they make a deal. He's another servant of
Xeles that will do whatever he can to get as many souls as he
can. And it seems the nightmares people come up with or dream
about make him stronger, so he actively seeks to consume
people's nightmares, only to create larger nightmares..." - Qrow
