Pilgrim: Well, our M may be a hero in his own regard, but I
wouldn't say a great hero. He is down to earth, intolerant of
bullsh*t and bullies, humble, hard working man who rather live a
comfortable life without headaches, @ssholes, and idiots than
dealing with being a great hero. Pilgrim says with a bit of a
chuckle as he pops open his briefcase. Pilgrim is definitely
impressed with what he is seeing so far in the workshop as the
two men talk. Pilgrim: M is also more of the stay awake for a
week trying to solve a problem or finish a project and then have
a good drink with friends type of guy. I think that you might
actually like the old biker once you get to know him. Pilgrim
then pulls out a chunk of teslium, 9in x 4in x 2in in dimension,
and places it on the table with a heavy thunk sound. Pilgrim: M
is the one responsible for the jet mechas that UNIT has
including one designed specifically for your crimson energy
power. I believe that you helped him briefly on that one at
UNIT's England weapons development center and discovered that
the mecha couldn't self-harness the energy in which recharging
during combat would be time consuming around a year ago. Pilgrim
then looks to Kendrix with a smile as he pulls out the UNIT
private contractor's contract next. Pilgrim: Then there's also
the fact that M is also one of the most powerful telemechanic
psychics that I know. He's even more powerful than Zelpharia
when it comes down to it, and I think that you could benefit in
multiple ways from his talent as much as he might be able to
benefit from working with you.

Kendrix: I didn't say he wasn't good at what he does... He's
definitely good. I just don't like hearing people brag about
others to the point it sounds like they're putting them up on a
pedestal, that's all. He says with a shrug. He looks over at the
chunk of Teslium and the contract Pilgrim pulled out.

Pilgrim: You'll definitely get along with M then as he feels the
same way especially when it's him being placed there. All you
need now is to enjoy motorcycles, BMX biking, and drinking, and
we could have two peas in a pod in terms of personality. He's
even a bluntly honest smartarse with a corny sense of humor.
Pilgrim hands the contract to Kendrix so he can read it over.
The contract is standard language stating a that private
contractor will be supplied all materials needed, any funding
needed for what UNIT cannot obtain, and limited access to top
secret projects and satellite systems with deeper access needing
reasonable reason for gaining. The contract also contains the
standard nondisclosure agreement and secrecy agreement. Pilgrim:
Here's the contract. Language is standard for UNIT private
contractors.

Kendrix: I can't say I ride bikes, but I can appreciate them at
least. After Kendrix reads it over he takes out a pen and signs
it.

Pilgrim: M definitely appreciates someone who can admire a well
made bike. Pilgrim says as he makes sure that all the paperwork
is in order once Kendrix is done signing the contract. He then
pulls out a copy of the contract for Kendrix's record and places
them down on the table while putting the signed contract in his
briefcase. Pilgrim: Well, everything looks to be order so
congratulations on becoming an UNIT contractor. Pilgrim then
reaches for his wallet in his back pocket. Pilgrim: Now on to my
more personal reason why I'm here that is completely off the
books. I need help finding someone that has been kidnapped not
long ago, and I'm hoping that you and your father might be able
to help. Pilgrim opens his wallet as he brings it out and pulls
out a picture of his daughter, Inkanyezi. He then hands the
picture to Kendrix. Pilgrim: Her name is Inkanyezi Solovyov. Her
mother is a top rank official in the Kremlin while Inkanyezi is
a member of Bratva.. and my daughter. She was kidnapped from her
mother's house about a year and half ago while visiting for her
mother's birthday. Pilgrim's face becomes a mixture of
seriousness, anger, and sorrow as he speaks. Pilgrim: Nika's and
my hands are tied when it comes to pushing officials further
because of a conflict of interest due to us being the parents.
Pilgrim says as he looks Kendrix in the eyes with his one good
eye. We're both willing to pay anything if Black Sun can find my
daughter and bring her home.

After the contract was signed and Pilgrim hands him the picture,
Kendrix looks at it for a moment. After hearing Pilgrim's
explanation, he thinks for a moment. Since this particular
contract event took place a year and a half before before Milos
had joined Black Sun, Kendrix couldn't just call Milos to help
with the situation. Kendrix: The Bratva huh... I had heard they
were pretty family oriented too, especially after their current
head took over. I was considering trying to negotiate them on
our side since they have a lot of similar interests to us. If we
can manage it, I'll try and get your daughter's disappearance
looked into if I can get them on our side. I'll get my father on
it too. He's probably better for this sort of thing than I am.
I'm more about bashing my enemies faces in, but my dad is the
one that handles most of the stealth assassin and secret ops
stuff. He looks to Pilgrim. I know this isn't what you want to
hear, but a year and a half is a long time, including however
long it will take us to find her trail again... And most kids
don't very long after being kidnapped. I will do whatever I can
to bring her back to you alive, but you need to know that there
is a good chance she might not be alive by the time we make it
to her. However, you have my word we'll try our best to get her
back here alive.

Pilgrim: Trust me. I know that chance is high, and I'm hoping
that my little girl is alive and giving her captors hell. It
hasn't been easy on either her mother nor I. Her mother, Nika,
even checked Russia's Siberian gulag for supernaturals and
metahumans just to make sure that it wasn't a government
kidnapping since Inkanyezi has my pyrokinetic abilities among a
few. Pilgrim tries to keep the weary worry from his voice as he
speaks. Pilgrim: While I've damn near exhausted every resource
that I have. The closest I've come to possibilities of her
location was an unexplained explosion at the Department of
Defense's top secret special weapons research center.
Unfortunately, Admiral Wilcox has somehow gotten my
authorization and security clearance restricted after taking my
old position so I couldn't get more than redacted reports and
the program name. Not enough though to prove if it was Inkanyezi
or not though it's not too often that a supernova like explosion
happens at a DoD research facility. His voice becomes a bit more
thoughtful as he talks about what research that he's done
already.

Kendrix listens, rubbing his chin in thought. Kendrix: That's
pretty suspicious... You don't think that's a red flag that he
is trying to cut you off from it right as you were getting close
to finding more info on your daughter? In my experience, people
who do sh*t like that have stuff to hide and the more they fight
back, the more convincing it becomes that they're hiding
something. He shrugs. That's where I'm going to start at least.
Luckily I have some government connections that I hope can help
me out. But we'll have to see. I can't just stroll in and ask
for the information, but I'll figure out a way.

Pilgrim: I definitely found it odd and pushed as far as I could
without bringing UNIT's council down on me. Wilcox has been a
sneaky b*stard since the day I first met him and out for me when
I got recruited to S.H.I.E.L.D. by Dr. Stark over him. So I
definitely recommend treading lightly when it comes to him and
his projects. I have heard though that Senator Kelly is just as
curious about Wilcox's budget and what it is being used for so
he might be a good ally. I would've talked to the Senator
myself, but I have been busy getting the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s
personnel integrated with U.N.I.T. and haven't been able to
schedule an appointment. Pilgrim says as he makes sure that he
has what he needs to take with him is in his briefcase and then
closes. Pilgrim: I will say that if Wilcox is behind my
daughter's disappearance then she better be alive for his stake.

Kendrix: Well, I'll do my own investigation. Thanks to my Zygon
abilities I got some time ago, I know how to copy memories
through just touching someone since I've been working on
modifying those abilities. Still working it out, but I can copy
someone's memories using those powers. So if any of the people
with that "experiment" know anything, I'll find out.
