Yuffie smiles brightly to Alastair as she finishes stirring the
gravy. Yuffie: I never expect instant results when it comes to
training. I've learned that one thanks to Mom, Josie, and some
of the Jagneux boys. She says as she turns to Alastair. Yuffie:
As Mom always says, nothing comes instantly but trouble and
mistakes.
Josephine places a hand on Kindron's shoulder and gives him a
sympathetic smile. She knows something about being feared and
those close to her getting hurt. Josephine: It's okay. You don't
have to explain further. With my looks, I had problems when I
was a kid too that even got Mom attacked a couple of times. If
it wasn't for Mom, the meanest, orneriest family in the bayou
being family friends, and Professor Xavier's school then I'd
probably be a whole lot more like my old man. She then looks in
the direction of Kendrix, Charlie, and the displacer kitten.
Josephine: Oh my God! I've only read about displacer beasts!
Lore says that they were hunted to the brink of extinction until
someone from the Shadow Realm saved the last few prides. I can't
believe that you actually found a baby. They're adorable but
still can be just as vicious as adults when provoked and have
all of their abilities within days of being born. The sound of
disbelief and excitement is definitely obvious in Josephine's
voice. Josephine: Vampires and demons highly value them as
protection animals like guard dogs and frequently search special
black markets when rumors rise, but a displacer beast must be
raised from a kitten in order to tame it's more chaotic
malevolent nature.
Laura: Then we'll have a talk with Alastair after dinner about
train' the girls especially Yuffie. Josie has at least had
combat training when she attended the Xavier School for the
Gifted during her childhood and some training that her jackarse,
smug father insisted on. Most of what Yuffie knows comes from
Josie, Davey and Jeb Jagneux, and me. Laura says with a
thoughtful look but with a bit of distaste in her voice when
mentioning Victor. Laura is then surprised to see the kitten
that Charlie has given Kendrix but laughs a bit. Laura: Well, I
didn't expect her to come back with a displacer kitten when I
sent her to see old Jax. Qrow would instantly recognize the name
of the grumpy, smartarse old blacksmith as Jax is a daily
regular to Laura's bar who frequently complains about his wife
or certain types of customers. Laura: At least Kendrix have the
right personality to bond with such a supernatural big cat.
Charlie's smile brightens up as Kendrix pets the displacer
kitten and definitely glad that the little guy gets stay with
them. She's also glad that she remembered that Kendrix likes
dark animals and beasts. Charlie: I'm so glad that you like him.
I figured that you would. She then kisses Kendrix on the cheek
which brings the displacer kitten closer to him as well. The
kitten takes this opportunity to use his tentacles to help him
climb up onto Kendrix's shoulder where he purrs and rubs his
furry head against the side of Kendrix's head.
The words in Ander's thought bubble change in response. Ander:
"Sounds like the shadow cub is a surprise to most people. The
cub will make a fine familiar for your cub though if I read my
Mother's books correctly. Very pride orientated big cats like my
brothers and me but natural born supernatural cats instead of
enhanced by magic like me."
Leonidas finally opens one eye to see what has surprised and
excited Josephine but doesn't move more than that as he doesn't
want the attention to start. Leonidas thoughts. Leonidas: "Just
an odd cub."
Romeo can fully understand both Kendra's words and curiosity.
He's just as curious and not jealous as he walks over but stops
just far enough away so as to not startle the displacer kitten.
He does hear Josephine's words and begins to wonder what the
kitten could do. Romeo: "Still doesn't explain why he's got
tentacles."

Alastair: Wise words to live by. He says in response to Yuffie
quoting her mother.
Kindron looked over as Josephine reacted to the displacer
kitten. Kindron: Interesting. I didn't know those were a
thing... He says, looking over at it. Although yeah... It is
weird that it has tentacles. But I've seen and fought enough
dark spirits to know that it's actually pretty normal for things
from the shadow realm to have tentacles... It's a weird thing
I've noticed about creatures from the shadow realm... He says
with a shrug.
Kendra, Jasmine and Rose all look over at the kitten as well.
Jasmine was the first one to look over to Hei, Alice, Qrow and
Laura. Jasmine: Kitten. She says, pointing at the displacer
kitten.
Qrow: Yeah... Seems like a perfect fit for the kid. He says in
response to Laura's comment. He pets Leonidas since it seemed
like Leonidas was enjoying his attention.
Hei: I can't say I know too much about the shadow realm. Ever
since I found out about dark spirits, I tend to avoid it,
especially after the old man told me some stuff I should avoid.
He says, looking over to Qrow.
Qrow: Yeah... There's a lot going on in the Shadow Realm right
now. Definitely a good idea to avoid it.
As the displace kitten rubs against Kendrix's head, Kendrix pets
the kitten. Kendrix: Well... I think you and I will be good
friends little guy... Or girl... or... Wait... He turns to
Charlie. How do we know if it's a guy or girl?
Kendra looks over to the kitten, but doesn't want to scare it.
Kendra: Hey little guy. She says as she wants to pet it, but
doesn't want to scare the kitten, or provoke it. She just holds
her hand to it, knowing that many cats recognize it as asking
permission to pet them (and letting the kitten sniff her hand if
it wanted to).

Yuffie: I rather thought so. She says to Alastair with a smile.
Thinking about her mother then reminded Yuffie that she still
hasn't gone to join the others yet. Yuffie: Oh crud.. I just
remembered. I still haven't gone in to say hi to everyone else
yet. Yuffie almost face palms but refrains. Instead she bows to
Alastair politely and then gives him an apologetic smile.
Yuffie: I hate to leave someone alone in this big kitchen with
food cooking, but will you be okay if I go and say hi to the
family? Butler or not, Yuffie still treats everyone the same and
will help if it's needed. Yuffie: I can come back afterwards and
help you if you need it. She then says with a smile.
Josephine looks to Kindron with a smile. Josephine: Tentacles
and sometimes multiple limbs like this little guy when it comes
to Shadow Realm beasts. She says in reference to the displacer
kitten having six legs along with the two tentacles. She then
hears Kendrix and naturally responds to a question about basic
animal anatomy. Josephine looks to Kendrix, Charlie, and Future
Kendra. Josephine: That one is easy at the little one's age.
Just look under the tail. If you see what appears to be two
small fuzzy black balls, then it's a boy. No fuzzy black balls,
then it's a girl. Displacer beasts are anatomically similar to
panthers in that regard.
Charlie notices how the kitten's tail is up while listening to
Josephine and walks around Kendrix to check the kitten for
gender. She giggles a bit as she notices that the kitten is
definitely a boy. Charlie: Kinda looks like something you find
in a crafting store. The little guy is definitely a boy, babe.
She says as she walks back around to stand next to Kendrix with
a smile.
The kitten doesn't pay attention to Charlie or Kendrix for a
moment as he looks to Future Kendra. He sniffs her hand a bit
and then rubs his head and face against her hand with a purr.
Laura: Your father be right about what he told of Shadow Realm
beasts. Laura says to Hei in agreement about the dangers of some
shadow beasts. Laura: Duperon witches and wizards 'ave been one
of families who helped chase the far more dangerous ones out of
the area hundreds of years ago. Displacer beasts and blink dogs
are two of the more docile of Shadow Realm beasts and easiest to
train and bond with. Laura then looks to Qrow. Laura: A friend
of mine who visits the Shadow Realm has said similar and told me
that it be rough for him since the troubles began. It also be
affectin' those witches who be usin' shadow summoning magic as
well. She then looks back towards Kendrix and Charlie. Laura:
But best not to think of such trouble on a day of joy and family
fun.
Leonidas just continues to sit next to Qrow and enjoy the
attention.
Ander's thought bubble fades away as he watches and listens to
the others before giving a silent yawn.
Romeo watches Kendrix, Charlie, Future Kendra, and the displacer
kitten as he sits down. He tilts his head a bit as he watches
Charlie look under the kitten's tail and declare that the little
guy is a boy. Romeo: "Do they check human men the same way when
they're cubs?"

Alastair just smiles. Alastair: Don't worry. This is nothing
compared to the Darkfire family dinners back in Japan. I can
handle things here. Go enjoy your time with your family. He says
to Yuffie.
Qrow didn't want to talk about how bad things were getting in
the Shadow Realm, from the storms of dark spirits that were
invading the Death Wraith homeland to how the false Kierran
Black (who was really Aeron Kazara) was failing to keep the
living world safe from dark spirits entering the living world.
He figured he'd give Laura a warning later about trying to have
her and her friends avoid the Shadow Realm for the time being if
they can help it.
Kindron, Hei, Alice and Acillia were all silent while Charlie
was checking the kitten's gender.
Kindron: I guess it's a good thing we knew that before you named
him. He says jokingly after Charlie declares the kitten a guy.
Kendrix: Okay... So it's a guy. He says, looking to the kitten.
I guess the next step is to figure out a name for the little
guy.
Kendra pets the kitten happily.

Yuffie: Okay, but only because you say that you're going to be
able to handle everything. She says with a smile to Alastair.
She then turns and runs out the kitchen door. Qrow and Laura are
the closest to her when she runs in so Yuffie throws her arms
around Qrow and gives him a quick hug, being careful not to hurt
Leonidas. Yuffie: Hiya, Dad! Merry Christmas! She then looks to
everyone else and realizes that there's a few of new faces. That
doesn't make her nervous but does make her realize that she
needs to get out of the bar and New Orleans more often..
especially with seeing the triplets. Yuffie: Hello, everyone!
I'm sorry that I'm late, but I just had to put a finishing
touches on Dad's Christmas present. I see that I definitely need
to get out of the bar more often and visit my brothers. She
giggles a bit as she give Leonidas an apologetic scratch behind
the ears.
Leonidas was enjoying the pets from Qrow until Yuffie gives Qrow
a quick hug. He didn't mind as he understands how two legger
prides greet each other. Plus the apologetic ear scratch also
helped in him forgiving Yuffie from squishing him a bit.
Josephine: Definitely a good thing to know or you ended up like
I did at six years old. I had a male rabbit named Sue because I
didn't know he was a boy. Josephine says to Kindron with a soft
laugh. Josephine then looks from Charlie and Kendrix when Yuffie
runs in from the kitchen and greets Qrow. She feels a bit
jealous of Yuffie for being able to have a real relationship
with Qrow but also knows that Victor does try and only keeps her
at a distance because of his past. Still, Josephine wishes that
she was nearly as close to her father as Yuffie and Qrow are.
Josephine smiles though and hides the bit of jealousy from her
face.
Charlie: Could go simple with Shadow? Charlie says to Kendrix
with a shrug.
As if he could understand Charlie, the displacer kitten shakes
his head back and forth after Charlie suggests the name Shadow
as the kitten looks at her.. though his attention span on
Charlie doesn't last long as the kitten goes back to getting
attention from Kendra.
Ander stands up and walks over to his bed where he takes a drink
of water from a water bowl. He then takes a seat on his bed and
watches. He then shakes his head when he telepathically hear his
brother, Romeo. Ander: "Of course they check human boy cubs in a
similar fashion. How else would they do it?"
That makes Romeo look at Ander. Romeo: "Does that mean that
humans are born with tails? And what happens to their tails for
them not to have tail later? Or do their tails just get really
tiny as they get older?"
The look on Ander's face from Romeo's questions is one of
someone mentally face palming while wishing they had hands to
face palm correctly.

Qrow: Hey, kid. He says as he hugs Yuffie back.
Kindron looks over and sees Yuffie come in. He waits for her to
finish her greeting to Qrow, as he didn't want to interrupt her
saying hi to him.
Kendrix: Yeah... Definitely not Shadow... I'd have to call our
robot, Mecha Shadow, something else. He thinks for a moment. Got
it. What do you think about the name Andhar? He says to the
kitten. The name was a play on Aadhar (a name meaning shadow),
and the name Andar (which meant priceless) to create a new name
that was meant to mean "Priceless Shadow" which Kendrix meant to
describe the kitten as being a one of a kind shadow creature.
Hei: That's actually not bad. If the kitten doesn't take that
one, I'm saving that name. He says in response to Kendrix's
name.
Kendra continues petting the kitten, though she did wait a
moment to see what the response would be to Kendrix's name.

Yuffie then goes over to Kindron after she and Qrow hug each
other in greeting and hugs Kindron in greeting. She would've
gone and hugged Hei first since he's closer, but she knows that
Hei isn't really the "hugger" type. Yuffie: Hey, big brother.
Good to see you. She says with a big smile to Kindron.
The displacer kitten rubs happily against Kendrix's cheek with a
purr after hearing the name as a sign that he approves of it.
Charlie: Looks like we have a winner in terms of a name. She
says with a smile.
Josephine watches Yuffie hug Kindron and smiles. Even though
Josephine has less in terms of paternal family, she's happy that
her half sister has such a close relationship with Qrow and his
sons. She relaxes a bit as she starts to think about how well
everyone is getting along.. plus Yuffie's presence help with a
bit of her nervousness. She then awkwardly laughs a bit as she
hears Romeo asking about why humans don't have tails and blushes
at the quick outburst.
Leonidas looks over to Romeo and Ander as he can hear their
conversation and gives a big cat sigh with a head shake.
Leonidas: "Two leggers typically loose their tails before birth
from what books say, Romeo."
Romeo looks to Leonidas with wide eyes of shock and horror.
Romeo: "WHAT?! WHERE DOES IT GO? WHY DIDN'T MOMMA'S TAIL
DISAPPEAR?"
Ander: "Not sure about where female two legger tails go, but I
think that two legger male tails turn into their mating tail
that they use to make cubs with female two legger." Ander
responds to Romeo's question. Ander: "And mother is different
than other two leggers because she's more like use so she didn't
loose her tail."
Romeo: "Poor two leggers. No wonder they're so clumsy when they
try to jump and climb. Good thing momma is like us and not like
the two leggers."

Kindron hugs Yuffie back cheerfully. Kindron: Hey Yuffie. Been a
while. He says cheerfully to Yuffie. Man... I keep forgetting
I'm the oldest out of Father's children... It makes me feel old.
He says jokingly.
Kendrix: Good. I'm glad you like it. I was pretty proud of that
one. He says jokingly as he pets kitten, which was now the newly
dubbed Andhar.
Kendra smiles and looks at the kitten. Kendra: I think it's
perfect. She says with a smile.
Meanwhile, Hei looks at the lions, noticing they were reacting
to what appeared to be nothing since he couldn't hear their
telepathic communication. He looks at them confused before
turning to Josephine. Hei: Are they... communicating with each
other? He asks her curiously.

Yuffie: You're not that old, K, and at least your not the baby
like me. She says with a giggle to Kindron. Kindron's heightened
sense of smell would pick up on the smell of motor oil and car
polish on Yuffie (which the player forgot to previously
mention). She then looks to Alice and Acillia with the little
ones. Yuffie: So are these the ladies lucky enough to get with
my big brothers and give me such cuties for nieces and nephews?
Yuffie already knew about Kendrix being a timeline alternate kid
of Hei and Alice thanks to Laura and Qrow but still hadn't
gotten to know him either.
Josephine looks to Hei as his question brings her out of her
thoughts. Josephine: Oh yes, they are. They have telepathic
abilities thanks to my special familiar bond with them. They can
communicate like that with just about anyone with telepathic
abilities but don't like intruding on human minds. She says with
a smile and a bit of a laugh as she had been hearing the
conversation that the three lions have been having. Josephine:
They're just having a conversation about what happens to the
tails of humans since Romeo was curious. And judging from what I
heard, I think I need to have a better conversation with them
about how humans develop because Ander has a very.. interesting
idea of what human men's tails become.
Andhar makes himself more comfortable on Kendrix's shoulder as
he enjoys the attention he's getting from his new human father.
Leonidas takes note of Hei's question about the him and his
brother communicating with each other. He waits until Josephine
is done explaining about their telepathic abilities and the
conversation the boys were having. He then politely speaks
telepathically with Hei, including Hei in with him and his
brothers. Leonidas: "Sorry if we are being rude and not
including you. We don't mean to be rude, but Romeo had questions
and can be very annoying when focused on getting answers.
Perhaps as a male two legger, you can clear up some confusion on
what happens to the tails of two legger males. Did your tail
become the tail that you use to make your cubs with your
lioness?"
Ander and Romeo both become quiet and look to Hei as Leonidas
telepathically speaks to Hei. Ander seems more nonchalant about
how Hei will answer Leonidas' question while Romeo stares with
hopeful curiosity that Hei might have a good answer. Josephine,
who can also hear this, just face palms in embarrassment at the
fact that her boys are sometimes so blunt with their curiosity
when speaking to others.

Kindron: Yep. He motions to Zack first. This is my son Zack. He
says who waves cheerfully. And my girlfriend, Acillia. He says,
motioning to Acillia, who already went in and was in the process
of giving Yuffie a big cheerful hug in greeting.
Acillia: Nice to meet you. She says as she hugs Yuffie
cheerfully.
Kindron just smiles. Kindron: And she's a hugger. He says
jokingly.
Hei: I see. I didn't know they were able to communicate. He says
as he looks to them. It's fine. I understand. I was just curious
since I don't know much about you guys. I didn't know you were
capable of intelligent communication. He says telepathically to
Leonidas. He then thinks a moment on how best to explain it
before just jumping in and giving the explanation as best he
could. I'm not sure I'm the best person to explain it, but here
goes. Our tails stop developing and are reabsorbed into the body
before its born. Our tails don't extend beyond the tail bone in
our rear. The "thing" between a human male's legs is the same
thing that's between your legs you use to reproduce. It's
actually uncommon for humans to have tails. But there are rare
cases of people who might have tails, like Josephine or Kindron,
which is usually dependent on the creature or race. Some races
like werewolves have tails, though some people like Kindron use
shapeshifting to keep their traits suppressed. He says,
explaining things pretty bluntly since he didn't sugarcoat or
get subtle with how he describes things. In terms of Kindron's
werepyre tail, Kindron's wolf tail wasn't visible since he
wasn't in werepyre form.
Kendrix pets Andhar for a moment. Kendrix: Welcome to the family
little buddy. He says to Andhar.
Kendra smiles. Kendra: He's cute. She looks to Charlie with a
cheerful smile. You got really lucky with this one. She says
jokingly.
