Performing the magic trick definitely helps Josephine relax some
and become more comfortable around the others. Josephine: I
still remember when Yuffie not only first met me but my Dad too.
God, that was such an embarrassing day. I didn't even expect my
old man to show up on my birthday that day since he's never been
to any before. Josephine pulls out a red handkerchief as she
speaks mostly out of habit of preparing for another trick.
Josephine: Luckily Yuffie was completely understanding about
embarrassing dads and even helped get him to leave, but I've had
a small nervous problem with family get togethers that involve
meeting new people ever since. She then realizes she has the
handkerchief in her hand and blushes with a bit of
embarrassment. She didn't realize her nerves were this on edge.
Josephine: Looks like my nerves are telling me to calm down when
I subconsciously start another trick. Sorry about that.
Laura softly giggles at Qrow's comment about Future Kendra.
Laura: Then it looks like dinner will be stoppin' them when it
be ready. Laura then looks to Hei as he speaks and gives him an
impish smile. Laura: Yuffie be puttin' some finishin' touches to
your Dad's Christmas gift from her. She should be in soon
though.
The illusionary thought bubble above Ander changes the words in
response to Kendrix along with a soft lion chuckle. Ander: "It's
not that strong as I had to open my mouth for a better sniff.
Just enough to make your natural scent and pheromones smell more
like a dark nature user than a demonic vampire. Lioness are good
at making lions smell funny. Human lioness make my brothers and
I smell funny when they hug us after performances all the time.
Nothing to worry about unless she bathed in the stuff which your
lioness didn't."
Leonidas finally raises his head and sees his younger brothers
being sociable with the new arrivals. He understands that
Darkfires might become pride but wanted to see his brothers'
reactions, well mostly Ander's reaction, to the new comers. He
stands with a stretch and then pads his way over to Qrow and
Laura. Leonidas first sniffs both Qrow and Hei before deciding
to sit next Qrow. Leonidas then gives a little introduction bow
to Qrow, Hei, and Alice with a big cat noise that sounds like
he's saying hello to the three of them.
Laura: Well look who finally decided to say bonjour to everyone.
Laura is right about Romeo and Kendra at least on Romeo's end as
he rolls over to give Future Kendra his other side to scratch.

Acillia: It's alright, we were all a little nervous about this
meeting. Heck, I wasn't sure how to handle this meeting either.
Usually when I explain my sister and I are kids of Michael and
Lucifer, it makes a lot of people nervous. She explains.
Kindron: Don't be nervous around us. I know we're all nervous,
but I think you already made a good impression on the kids. He
says, looking to Zack and the girls who were watching Josephine
with interest as they were amused seeing her magic tricks.
Qrow looks over to Leonidas as he comes over. Qrow: Well, hello
there, big guy. He says to Leonidas. He didn't want to make him
uncomfortable by petting him or something, so he had just looked
over to him.
Kendrix: Okay... That's good. He says in response to Anders
comment.
Meanwhile, Kendra has no problem scratching Romeo's other side.

Josephine relaxes even more as she listens to Acillia and
Kindron. It's nice to know that she's not the only one who's
nervous. She continues the mess with the red handkerchief that
she's pulled out though and gets ready to perform another trick
for the kids. Josephine: I'm glad to know that I'm not the only
one who's nervous about this. The kids' fascination with my
tricks is a big help for me though. Kids always enjoy tricks and
show it without judgement of who is performing which makes
relaxing easier. She says with a smile while starting her next
trick. Josephine: As for fathers, I can understand being afraid
to mention you and your sister are kids of Michael and Lucifer.
I can't even begin to count how many times people nearly run
from me after I tell them that my old man is Victor "Sabretooth"
Creed. Though normally Josephine avoids mentioning Victor's
name, she finally feels more comfortable around Kindron and
Acillia to say it and hopefully not get a bad reaction.
Josephine shows the kids that the handkerchief is ordinary and
that it's the only thing in her hand while she talks, closes her
left hand, and then covers her left hand with the handkerchief.
It's during this display that she performs another slight of
hand and has palmed three more small stuffed animals similar to
the one she gave Zack in her left hand.
Yuffie bursts in through the backdoor of the bar after finishing
somethings with Qrow's Christmas present and carefully rushes
into the kitchen. She would've just gone past Alastair when she
didn't see Laura in the kitchen, but the sight of a strange
vampire butler working in her mother's kitchen makes her pause
to find out who Alastair is. Luckily, Alastair's attire is
enough to keep Yuffie from getting aggressive as she thinks that
may be Laura hired a caterer. Yuffie: Um... Bonjour and hello,
but who are you and did my Mom finally decide to hire some help
with dinner like I suggested?
Laura hears Yuffie enter through the bar's backdoor and smiles a
bit. Laura: That must be Yuffie comin' in the backdoor now. She
then remembers that Alastair is in the kitchen. Laura: I just
hope that she don't give po' Alastair a heart attack though with
bein' in a hurry. She says with a light giggle.
Leonidas smells Qrow a bit more after Qrow says hello to him.
Leonidas finally recognizes Qrow's smell as the same scent
embedded in Qrow's favorite bar stool and in Laura's home. He
then rubs against Qrow as he would any member of the pride.
Laura sees this and giggles softly again. Laura: Looks like Leo
finally realized who you be from your scent, mon amour. He don't
do that unless he see you as family.. She then kisses Qrow again
on the cheek. Laura: ..and your scent be in many places that
only family be at normally.
Charlie finally arrives and walks in through the front door with
a medium sized package wrapped in Santa Jack Skeleton wrapping
paper. She has a bright smile as she looks around and sees
everyone including Kendrix. The package in her hand would look
normal at a quick glance, but a closer look will reveal air
holes on two sides of the package along with a faint sound of
movement. Charlie: Hi, everyone! Merry Christmas! No matter what
Charlie has done or gone through, Christmas is one of her
favorite holidays.. next to Halloween.. and always has her in
chipper spirits.
Ander's illusionary thought bubble changes words when Charlie
walks in and greets everyone. His sense of smell quickly
identifies Charlie's perfume thanks to the traces on Kendrix but
the box in her hands has his curiosity greatly piqued as he
swears that he's smelling some kind of feline scent from it. Of
course, Ander understands Christmas and its traditions and won't
ruin the possible surprise that is inside. Ander: "Looks like
your lioness has finally arrived bearing a gift."
Romeo continues to lie on the ground and enjoys the attention
that Future Kendra is giving him.

Kindron: Yeah, I can see why... Though, for me, I'm more curious
why it seems like his name has been coming up everywhere
recently. One thing I can say, the guy gets around apparently.
He says, more curious than anything about why it seemed Victor's
name was coming up more and more often.
The kids all clap as they watch Josephine do her trick, watching
with amazement. Though they were smart, they didn't really think
too much about the magic trick, since they'd seen magic users
before and knew whether it was a trick or a legit magic use, it
was more about fun than anything for them.
Qrow: If Yuffie is able to get the drop on Alastair, I'll be
surprised. Alastair trained Hei in assassin combat and Hei spent
years trying to assassinate Alastair as part of his training,
but never did manage to get close. He's a master assassin, and
I've not seen much that catches him off guard. He pets Leonidas
softly. He tries not to show his smile at Laura's comment about
other places his scent could be.
Hei: As much as I hate to say it... Alastair's still pretty
skilled. Every time I try to get away from him, he finds me. He
says bitterly, remembering the times when he tried to hide from
Alastair since Alastair started staying with him and Alice. Not
sure how I'd do in a fight with him as an assassin, and I'm okay
if I never have to find out.
Alastair turns and bows to Yuffie as she comes in. He seemed
almost ready as he turned slightly before she came in almost as
though he knew she was about to come in. Alastair: Hello,
Madam... I am Alastair Crawford. Butler to the Darkfire family.
He says in greeting while bowing politely to Yuffie.
Kendra continues rubbing Romeo's belly, since she was having fun
with Romeo. Kendra: It's kinda nice... Having a lion that isn't
trying to kill me. In my time, there was a huge werelion that
was like 9 feet tall that was always trying to fight D and me.
The group that wasn't focused on Josephine turn and wave to
Charlie as she comes in.
Kendrix: Yep. It seems she is. He says in response to Ander. He
goes over, and noticed the box in her hands. Hey. I assume you
had no problems getting here.

Josephine pulls the handkerchief off her closed left hand to
reveal three more little stuffed animals: a unicorn, a pink
dragon, and puppy. She holds them to Kendra, Rose, and Jasmine
so they can pick the one that each of them want as she listens
to Kindron. Josephine does gives Kindron a curious look when he
mentions that her father's name has been coming up a lot lately
as she hands the stuffed animals to the girls. Josephine:
Really?! What do you mean? Is he in trouble again? Is he causing
trouble again? Even though Josephine doesn't hang around with
her father or talk to him often, but that doesn't mean she
hasn't been worried about him as she hasn't heard from him in a
few years. The tone of her voice while questioning Kindron about
her father even reveals a hint of worry from a lengthy silence.
Yuffie: My Dad's family has a butler?! Yuffie exclaims in
surprise to Alastair and forgetting to introduce herself.
Yuffie: Sheesh.. Mom's stinkin' rich from hoarding a lot of gold
doubloon and ingots from running a bar since the city was built,
and now I find out that Dad's family has a butler. Though
honestly I hardly visit the old Darkfire homestead so shouldn't
be too surprised.. but still.. an assassin ninja crime family
has a butler? Yuffie is actually genuinely surprised by this
revelation but decides that she really needs to spend more time
with her brothers and father to see what else she's missed
growing up in New Orleans.
Leonidas closes his eyes and smiles as Qrow softly pets him. He
has one thought on his mind. Leonidas: "So this is what Grandpa
pets feel like. Better than rough, overexcited teenagers with
selfie sticks. I like Grandpa pets."
Laura: Then it sound like this Alastair should be teachin'
Yuffie some. May be then she can finally get one up on Josie
when they spar in the bayou. She says to both Hei and Qrow with
a light laugh. Laura: Poor Yuffie can never seem ta sneak up on
or hide from Josie, but of course, Josie got a hella snoot and
hearing like her daddy so Alastair would 'ave his work cut out
for him. She says with a wry grin.
Ander slightly chuckles to himself as Kendrix goes to Charlie as
his illusionary thought bubble goes away. He then stands and
pads over to Hei and Alice to say hello. Ander gives both Alice
and Hei a sniff and then sits between them but carefully as not
to accidentally sit on someone's toes. He then throws up another
illusionary thought bubble with words. Ander: "Hello. You two
must be the parents of the cub that I was talking to. At least
that's what my nose says."
Charlie smiles to Kendrix and walks over to him with his present
in her hands. Charlie: Easy peasy to find when you're here
already. A soft scratching sound can be heard coming from the
box in her hands. Charlie: I would wait until everyone else
opens their presents but... She holds the present to Kendrix.
Charlie: I really don't think it wants to wait that long.
Romeo responds to Future Kendra's comment by sitting up and
licking her cheek. Just his way of saying that she's in safe
paws. His thoughts. Romeo: "No bad werelion will get you while
I'm around."

Alastair: Indeed. Even a family of assassins and swordsmen still
have use for helping with household chores. He says in response
to Yuffie's comment about an assassin crime family needing a
butler.
The girls all grab one of the stuffed animals and hug them
happily.
Kindron: I don't know the details... Something Hellsing is
working on I guess, and they were trying to find him for some
information he might have? I think? I don't fully remember. I'd
have to ask Integra about it. He says with a shrug.
Qrow just pets Leonidas softly as he keeps his attention to
Laura. Qrow: Alastair is pretty skilled. He probably could teach
her a few things. He could probably train them both. He smiles a
bit. Alastair used to be human. Even as a human he could keep up
with even the best assassins and supernaturals. After we turned
him into a vampire and trained as a Darkfire, he's been pretty
tough to outmatch.
Hei looks over to Ander as his thought bubbles come up. Hei:
Sort of. It's pretty complicated but he's our kid from another
timeline.
Kendrix looks at the gift curiously. Kendrix: Yeah... I noticed.
Should I open it? He asks Charlie curiously.
Kendra just hugs Romeo.

Yuffie: Well that makes sense. She muses for a moment. Yuffie:
Now this might sound weird, but do you know martial arts?
Josephine stands straight after the girls take the stuffed
animals and looks to Kindron. Josephine: Well at least I know
that he's not in some kind of prison. The expression on her face
changes from curious and concern to relieved but slightly hurt.
Josephine: Though it doesn't explain why he hasn't contacted me
in the last 8 years. He never missed my birthday nor Christmas
before he went ghost.
Leonidas sits with his eyes closed and enjoys the attention from
Qrow. Leonidas doesn't purr but does have a big cat grin on his
face.
Laura: Well it is about time that Yuffie learns more about her
Darkfire heritage, and both girls could use more training than
what I can provide. Though Jax been good at training them both
in blades and polearms. Laura says with a thoughtful look before
her sweet "don't want to impose" nature kicks in Laura: But I
couldn't impose on Alastair like that with what other household
tasks he has. I know what it be like trying to train, household
chores, and run bar be like.
The words change in Ander's illusionary thought bubble. Ander:
"No need for details. I've watched Back to the Future and can
grasp the basics. Not one for science anyway. Noticed that you
don't smell like fear though but like shadows and lightning
while your lioness smells like strength and noble."
Charlie looks around and finally notices the the lions. The
sound of light scratching is loader but sounds kind of odd too.
Charlie: Well, I think that it should be okay. The scratching
gets a bit more serious as Kendrix and Charlie get closer.
Charlie: Besides I really don't think that it wants to wait and
this is only half of your present.
Romeo enjoys the hug from Kendra, but his nose does twitch a bit
as he picks up on the scent of Charlie's present to Kendrix.
Romeo's thought. Romeo: "I swear I smell a cub, but it's not
like the two-legger cubs."

Alastair just chuckles at the thought. Alastair: Wouldn't be
much of a master assassin if I didn't know how to fight, now
would I? He says jokingly. The answer is yes, I do know martial
arts. In addition to the Darkfire variation of Kenpo, I am also
quite adept at Kyokushin, Aikido, Nippon Kempo, Escrima, Muay
Thai, Ansatsuken, and Ninjutsu. He explains. He smiles. I've had
a very long time to train my combat skills. He says jokingly.
Kindron shrugs. Kindron: I can't say I know much about the guy.
If it makes you feel better, my dad thought I was dead for like
500 years? He says, remembering about how old he was. It wasn't
till I got here to London a few years ago that my dad found me
and explained to me my origin. It was a bit awkward since I
thought my mother was a Darkfire, and my father was a werewolf
due to some weird distortions in my memories... Something those
that know me think it was from the trauma of everything that
happened when I was a child. He explains.
Qrow just shrugs and keeps petting Leonidas since Leonidas
didn't seem bothered by him. Qrow: I'm sure Alastair will have
no problem with it. He's pretty good at balancing everything.
I've never seen him overwhelmed by work before, and he's helped
out my entire extended family in Japan. After that, I'm sure
handling this will be no problem. I'm sure the kid will benefit
a lot if she trains with Alastair. Hei certainly did. Thanks to
Alastair's training more than mine, he became a pretty skilled
assassin.
Hei: And here I thought you considered Alice more your kid than
me. He says sarcastically. He then turns to Ander. It's just
because Kendrix's power is fear. Mine is anger and hatred, but
unlike him, I don't keep my power active at all times because
lantern energy powers work differently.
Kendrix just chuckles to himself. Kendrix: Well. I'm not sure
which present I'm more excited about. After I let the little guy
out of here, I'll give your present. He says as he opens the
gift, since it definitely seemed like whatever was inside wanted
out.
Kendra lets her attention shift over to Kendrix and Charlie as
well, as she was kind of curious what was going on with the
present Kendrix was opening.

Yuffie's eyes go wide with a smile like she's just found her new
best friend as she listens to Alastair. Yuffie: Okay, so you're
a master assassin who has mastered multiple martial arts and is
a butler. So you're pretty much a bad ass. She then gets a
thoughtful look. Yuffie: I guess I only have one question left.
Could you teach me how to be stealthier like Hei so I might have
a better chance against my sister? She hopefully asks as she
instinctually walks over to the stove and stirs the turkey gravy
that is sitting on a low simmer heat from years of helping her
mother.
Josephine gets a surprised yet sympathetic look. Josephine: Oh
wow... That sounds like it was rough for both of you once you
two met. At least my old man found out about me when I was 10.
Now there was a fun day. Mom was just about to close the bar
when he comes strutting in. I was playing behind the bar while
Mom had just locked the safe and register. He went into his
whole charming flirt and got shot down quick when Mom seriously
said that they had to talk. That was a fun conversation, but at
least he didn't argue. She then smiles a bit. Josephine: And
despite his reputation, he actually does have a decent side.. in
his own unique way of course. He was even the head master of the
Brotherhood Academy for the Gifted in England just before he
ghosted on everyone 8 years ago and apparently was good at it.
Laura gives Qrow a smile. Laura: Hmm.. sounds like he should be
able to train with no problems. I guess that I'm just hesitant
to ask him thanks to my bayou raisin'.. and not bein' use to
havin' a butler around. Her smile then turns a bit playful.
Laura: Though I admit that it's nice not to be runnin' around
the kitchen like a chicken with my head cut off. Laura had
noticed that Yuffie hasn't joined everyone else yet but figures
that she got distracted by Alastair.
Once Kendrix opens his present, first four black furry tentacles
pop up followed by two out of six black furry paws and a
panther-like kitten head as a displacer beast kitten stands up
on its hind legs. The kitten doesn't look older than 4 or 6
weeks old and but still bigger than a house cat kitten of the
same age. The little guy lets out a meow at Kendrix as Charlie
gets a bit of a worried look but smiles hopefully. Charlie: I
was on my way to a blacksmith that Laura recommended to see if
your present was done when one of those weird dimensional rips
in the fabric of space and time opened up and this little guy
popped out. I thought about putting him back through the rip but
it closed as I picked him up. I couldn't just leave the baby out
there alone so I thought he would make a great little companion
for you. Can we keep him, please? The displacer beast kitten
seems to be aware of what is going on and puts on his best
pleading kitten look with another soft meow followed by a purr.
The words in Ander's illusionary thought bubble change as he
listens to Hei. Ander: "Huh. That does explain the difference in
scent. Didn't realize that emotions could be used in such ways
until today. Always been used to elements, psychic powers, and
magic like my darkness and illusion powers." The words are
followed by three dots and some more words as Ander looks to
Kendrix and Charlie in time to see the displacer beast kitten
pops itself up in the box. Ander: "I knew there was a cub in the
box. Just didn't expect such a rare shadow cub."
Leonidas just ignores everything else that going on as he's
happy enough to just enjoy attention from Qrow.
Romeo tilts his head to one side in curiosity as he's never seen
nor heard of a displacer beast before but is happy to know that
he is right about it being a cub. Romeo's thoughts. Romeo: "I'm
right! It is a cub. Why does it have tentacles though? Cats
aren't suppose to have tentacles."

Alastair just smiles. Alastair: I can certainly try. Though you
should know Hei took years of training with me and his father to
get as good as he is. So don't expect instant improvement. He
says to her as he continues working on everything.
Kindron: I didn't know that, then again I don't know anything
about him really. He says after hearing Josephine's explanation.
Yeah, I was raised by an old priest for a number of years, and
then he was killed by the people for taking in a monster, which
was me. Back then I was in my werepyre form all the time, and
when the kids found out what I was knocking my mask off, they
turned on him. He says, stopping his explanation there. Even
though there was more to the story than that, it was something
he didn't like talking about.
Qrow: Alastair's a part of the family at this point. He's been a
part of the family for a long time. And he enjoys his work. He
explains as he pets Leonidas.
Kendrix chuckles a bit and pets the kitten's head as it gives
him it's best pleading look. Kendrix: You're a smart little guy
it looks like. I bet you know exactly what you're doing
appearing to Charlie first. He says jokingly. But lucky you, I
like dark creatures. He says with as he pets the kitten's head.
Hei: Yeah, emotions are quite powerful. He says before turning
to Kendrix holding the displacer kitten. Certainly not what I
expected. He says silently, more to himself in response to the
displacer kitten.
Kendra gets up and goes over to the kitten. Kendra: Aw... Look
at it, it's adorable. She says as she goes to pet it as well.
She looks back to Romeo. I promise I'll get back to you in a
minute. She says, figuring Romeo might get jealous of her paying
attention to the kitten.
