RP Profile: "Aquaman" Arthur Curry (Update)
By: Zorbak the Ebil Moglin Date: May 27, 2021, 10:23 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
"I am a son of the land, and a king of the seas. I am the
protector of the Deep." - "Aquaman" Arthur Curry
"Life, like the sea, has a way of bringing people together."
"There's an old saying in Atlantis: No one is taken back from
the darkness. Not without giving up something in return." -
Arthur Curry
"When he wakes up, tell him to respect the storm next time..." -
Aquaman to a group after saving a man who lost his ship to a
storm
"Hurry up... I'm missing happy hour for this." - Aquaman saving
a group of sailors.
"Ow..." - Aquaman being sarcastic after being hit with a grenade
launcher shot
"How is it that I can breathe underwater, but you can still
drink me under the table?" - Aquaman to his father, Thomas Curry
"There was a time I wanted to meet you more than anything. Get
to know my little brother... Let him know that he wasn't alone,
that we were in it together. If only I'd have known what a d*ck
you would turn out to be..." - Arthur Curry to Orm, his
half-brother, before they fought for the throne
"You can't bring people back to life. You lose something when
you die... No matter how strong someone is. Even if it's not
their mind, but their souls. If there's one rule you should
never break... You don't mess with life and death. It NEVER ends
well. And sometimes, you piss off Death himself which royally
screws your afterlife too..." - Aquaman to an ally who was
trying to bring someone back to life
During a fight with a pirate.
Pirate: You're the Aquaman.
Aquaman: Looking confused. Am I supposed to know you?
Pirate: We were bound to meet at some point.
Aquaman hits the enemy. Aquaman: Let's not make it a habit. He
says sarcastically.
Drops unconscious man on the bar as he takes a bottle of
whiskey.
Aquaman: It's on him. Says as he points to the unconscious man.
During a talk with an ally.
Ally: Arthur Curry... I hear you talk to fish.
Aquaman glares at the ally. Aquaman: The water does the talking.
Upon meeting Maria Blackbeard.
Aquaman: So you're the famous pirate, the one calling herself
Maria Blackbeard?
Maria: Depends. Who's asking? Stay out of my way if you know
what's good for you.
Aquaman: I can't do that. Whitebeard's devil fruit power is too
dangerous to be left in anyone's hands. I'm going to take that
power from you and make sure it gets put away so no one will be
able to get it again.
Maria: Charges her quake Gura Gura powers. Come fight me if you
think it will do any good. I'll die before I let you take my
powers.
Aquaman: Holds trident ready. That's the idea... Well, your
funeral, lady.
During a meeting with Raven.
Raven: So... You can hear the sea life all over the planet
right?
Aquaman: That's right.
Raven: Can't any of them tell us where Poseidon's Trident is?
Aquaman: Of course they can. I know exactly where it is and who
has it... But I'm not allowed to interfere with you or Maria
going for it, by orders from the gods of the sea. It's yours and
Maria's destiny to fight over it. Not mine. I'm just trying to
find a way to stop her from using those devil fruit powers to
ruin the world...
Raven: How am I supposed to get the Trident then?
Aquaman: Smiles and drinks. By finding it before Maria. He says
jokingly.
Raven: Thanks, smartass...
Aquaman: Glad to help. He says sarcastically.
During an attack on a submarine when Aquaman attacked the sub.
The enemies stop, hearing an impact.
Enemy 1: Did we hit something?
Enemy 2: No... Something hit us.
Enemy 3: Over the comms. Sir... Something's out there.
Enemy 1: Another submarine?
Enemy 3: Uh... No... I think it's a man!
"There is a stranger who comes to this village from the sea. He
comes in the winter when people are hungry and brings fish.
Comes in on the king tide." - Old legend about Aquaman
Name: Arthur "Aquaman" Curry
Other Titles: King of Atlantis, Waterbearer, Avatar of the
Clear, Champion of Neptune, The True King
Age: Unknown
Species: Atlantean (Deep Sea Human)
Gender: Male
Hunter Group/Team: King of Atlantis
Weapons:
- Neptune's Trident: As king of Atlantis, an ancient underwater
city, he wields a special trident made for the kings of Atlantis
by Neptune himself. The weapon is a spear-like trident, but also
fires bursts of energy at opponents. It can fire blasts or fire
beams of energy, as well as creating shields and barriers. The
energy is just standard energy, with no specific element or
alignment, as it is just energy generated by the power of the
trident. This trident can also harness water and ice
manipulation, thanks to it's power forged into the spear by
Neptune. This trident is pretty powerful, being the Roman
equivalent of the Poseidon's Trident, and used by the kings of
Atlantis. This trident recognizes only the rulers of Atlantis,
and can be summoned at any time to Aquaman, as he is able to
call it from anywhere. When separated from the Aquaman, he can
summon it back to him thanks to his communication abilities
through the Clear, the life force of the waters. This becomes
useful if he throws it at someone, to which he can then summon
it back. This weapon also amplifies Aquaman's connection to the
Clear, and amplifies the power of his Atlantean biology by
powering Aquaman with the energy of the trident. This weapon is
not only built from Neptune's power, but was also blessed by
Poseidon when he was alive as Neptune and Poseidon were on good
terms and both equally respected the rulers of Atlantis (though
Poseidon had his own underwater kingdom, so his involvement in
Neptune's kingdom was minimal). Aquaman is incredibly skilled
with his trident, as he can throw it hard enough that it spears
multiple opponents, overpowering their momentum and sending the
spear through multiple enemies. This trident is extremely tough,
and is said to be nearly unbreakable. However, there are ways to
counter it's power, as one can counter it's water and ice
manipulation by using counters to water and ice. Countering the
energy weaponized by the staff is as easy as using energy
defense, such as ki defense or defense spirit abilities (some
can even use physical objects to defend against it if they have
ways to defend against basic energy.
- Water-bearer Hand: After Aquaman lost his real hand in a
battle with his half-brother, the Lady of the Lake gave Aquaman
a replacement hand. In doing this, the Lady of the Lake gave
Aquaman not only the Waterbearer hand, but the title of the
Waterbearer in order to replace the hand he lost. This hand is a
hand of living water, which takes on the properties of his
original hand (as it changes its appearance so it doesn't look
like water). However, this also granted Aquaman the power and
dominion of the Secret Sea, in which the Lady of the Lake gave
Aquaman the responsibility of protecting the Secret Sea from
enemies. This hand gives him special water-based abilities such
as being able to take water form, being able to manipulate
water, and even being able to absorb water from people through
physical touch. He also gains a special connection to the Secret
Sea, and can call forth water form the Secret Sea at will. As
one might expect, This hand is connected to Aquaman now, in
which even if it is cut off, Aquaman can call it back to him in
the form of water and reform the hand as needed since the hand
itself is a part of Aquaman's being. Thanks to this, this also
enhances Aquaman's use of abilities when using the Clear's
power, in which Aquaman can more easily attune himself to the
entire world's oceanic network and allows Aquaman to communicate
with aquatic life anywhere in the world. With his dominion over
the oceans, he even has dominion over the creatures in the
Trench, which were mindless creatures that were once Atlantean
but devolved and lost their intelligence until they became just
hungry sea monsters. Overall, Aquaman's power of this hand can
only be taken away by one of two methods. The first is that the
Lady of the Lake revokes his connection to the Secret Sea, in
which she can decide to take back the Water Bearer hand and
title (usually to pass it on to another). The second is if the
Secret Sea were to die or be completely destroyed/absorbed by
someone, in which the absence of the Secret Sea would basically
mean that Aquaman's waterbearer hand and title would become
worthless and lose that connection to the hand and title if the
reason for the title and hand are gone. This also isn't just to
give Aquaman new abilities, but he is given responsibility over
the Secret Sea, so if the Secret Sea is in danger, he is
obligated to protect it even if it means having to abandon
friends in battle (which isn't something he likes to do, but is
something he will do if he has to)
Avatar of the Clear and Waterbearer Abilities:
- Parliament of Waves: The Clear: The Parliament of Waves is the
mind behind the force of life known as the Clear, a life force
that connects all water-based life on earth. Those empowered by
the Clear gain a powerful connection to the life force of any
water-bearing life (such as fish, whales and other water
creatures), and can even communicate with with them. The Clear
is known for its connection to the water or to the life in the
water, and avatars of the Clear become fighters to protect the
water's life and maintaining the balance that is necessary for
the life in the water to survive. Those that use the Clear don't
just gain the ability to communicate with fish and other water
creatures though, as they also gain the ability to utilize water
and manipulate it to their advantage. Avatars of the Clear are
even able to create water from vapor in the air, in which they
can use this to battle enemies of the Clear. Those that use this
power mostly are able to use this on water, or utilize this in
the water, and some can even gain the abilities of certain
aquatic life (like one who was able to gain the powers of a
shark). Avatars of the Clear are monitored by the Parliament of
Waves, who maintain the balance of nature's aquatic life
specifically. and focus primarily on making sure that the water
is kept safe for aquatic life to survive (Usually focusing on
the oceans). Typically, users of the Clear are powerful water
manipulators, and their strengths and weaknesses typically
reflect this. Typically, the best way to fight water users is
with lightning, which can separate water into it's individual
gases, and using any power that can help them kill aquatic life.
Certain other elements like fire (since it can boil the water
and evaporate it) can also be used if one is creative enough.
Typically, users of this are best utilized in the water, but
those that use this can use their powers in the normal world as
well. The Black is typically also a major enemy of the Clear,
just as it is an enemy to all of the Parliaments. Aquaman is a
current avatar of the Clear, and has the powers of the Clear.
Not only that, but Aquaman is also one that has dominion over
sea life as well.
- Waterbearer/Clear Avatar Ability: Waterbearer Hand Water
Manipulation: As part of his abilities using the Clear, and
amplified by his Waterbearer hand, Aquaman is able to manipulate
water and forms of water. Not only can Aquaman create water out
of moisture in the air, he can control the water in many
different forms. As many might know, water is a mix of hydrogen
and oxygen, and can be manipulated once created by water users.
As such, water manipulation is a fairly basic elemental power
that allows one to manipulate water. There are many ways to
utilize water, from freezing water into ice, boiling water to
burn someone, manipulating the pH values in water (changing it
to acid or base depending on what one wants to do), and even
manipulating vapor (something some advanced water users can do).
More creative waters can even use water in their own bodies to
give the body oxygen, helping increase stamina (as water is one
of the most important elements in the body). Some advanced users
even learn forbidden arts to manipulate blood (though Aquaman
doesn't do this since blood manipulation is manipulating life,
something he is strongly against). For the most part, the
ability to manipulate water is limited to water and forms of
water, but overall, water manipulation can also lead to some
other liquids being manipulated as well, such as some learning
to manipulate other liquid states by using water manipulation
(Though typically, there's a limit, such as water manipulation
cannot lead to learning to control mercury even though its
normal form is a liquid state as it's a metal). Of course, as
one might expect, water manipulation is able to be countered by
any counters to water, with wind and lightning being the two
main counters to water. However, there are some fire users that
can destroy water attacks by evaporating water as well. It is
also possible to counter water with energy abilities, assuming
one can account for more powerful water techniques.
- Water Manipulation Ability: Frozen Water
Generation/Manipulation: These two powers are the two biggest
uses for water manipulation, in which water users can use either
of these abilities to enhance their water manipulation by
manipulating the temperature of water. By manipulating the
temperature of water, one can make water into either boiling
water or ice depending on which end of the spectrum the
temperature is at (with cold being able to make ice and heat
being able to make boiling water). Ice manipulation is often
considered it's own element, and can be used very differently
from normal water as one might expect (Since most people know
how ice works and how water freezes when cold enough). Since ice
is solid rather than liquid, it has to be manipulated
differently, something that most water manipulators often figure
out. However, when used properly, ice is a very useful ability,
as one can use ice to do things like freeze people using
freezing water, or using ice to do physical damage due to ice's
solid nature. There are a variety of ways to use ice in battle,
depending on the knowledge of the user. For example, there are
people can manipulate water in the blood of others, and with
this power, one could freeze that blood, essentially freezing
the body in the process (as the body is about 60% water). One
can probably guess that this can be very useful information to
water manipulators, as some water manipulators can even remove
water from someone to dehydrate them completely. However, as
with any water manipulation, there are still weaknesses, with
ice manipulation being specifically vulnerable to lightning
abilities and fire abilities specifically. In addition, wind and
earth abilities can counter ice abilities, since ice is a solid
and with enough wind or earth, one can counter water
manipulation. It is also possible to use energy to counter ice,
in which energy can block ice attacks. It is worth noting that
for water users, melting ice back into water isn't the best way
to stop them as water manipulators can still manipulate melted
ice as it just turns back into water.
- Water Manipulation Ability: Boiling Water/Boiling Ice
Generation/Manipulation: On the other end of the spectrum of
water temperature manipulation is boiling water which is done
through heating water until it boils to create scorching hot
water. When used, boiling water can burn opponents through
touch, and if one knows enough about how to create unique ice
elements, one can use enough pressure to condense boiling water
into solid form to create a boiling ice manipulation that one
can use like normal ice manipulation except that it burns
opponents instead of causing freezing damage (Though this takes
some scientific knowledge as solidifying boiling water is
something that takes immense pressure and temperature
manipulation used on the water). Unlike ice, when boiling water
is used, boiling water is used just like water except for the
temperature being higher. However, when boiling ice is used, the
pressure used to create it can crush opponents when used, in
which the effects are similar to gravity manipulation when used
as the pressure used in addition to high temperature is designed
to crush the atoms into a solid form despite not being a solid.
This is just one way to use water manipulation, but tends to be
the main uses for water manipulation for most water users either
don't know or can't use ice manipulation. Most often though,
this is the other end of the spectrum of water manipulation in
which most water users learn to create boiling water around the
same time they learn to freeze water using temperature. The only
real problem with this power is that if one is not careful,
their water can boil and completely turn into vapor if the user
cannot keep the temperature in a certain range unless they
create boiling ice (though most people cannot create such
pressure to do this without sufficient scientific knowledge). If
turned into vapor, some water manipulation users will lose the
ability to manipulate the water once it reaches vapor form, as
it basically becomes a gas that is not water anymore. This power
is best countered with lightning and wind abilities (like normal
water manipulation) as well as some energy manipulation
abilities that can handle water abilities.
- Advanced Water Ability: Water Vapor/Air Moisture Manipulation:
Some advanced users of water can learn to manipulate water
vapor, as it is still water but in a gaseous form as well as
learning to manipulate moisture in the air without turning it
from it's gaseous form into liquid or solid form. This is an
advanced ability many water users don't really get to learn as
it takes understanding how gases work and how to manipulate
moisture even when it's not in water form (or this can also be
used by wind users). This is most commonly used by water users
who also use wind, but some water users alone can learn this
depending on their knowledge. When used, a water user or wind
user can manipulate water vapor, in which water vapor is created
from evaporated water (which is usually created by boiling
water. When it comes to air moisture, one can use air moisture
by manipulating the moisture in it's gaseous form, usually
thicker than normal air, in which one can learn to manipulate
moisture in much the same way as water vapor. When moisture,
this is most commonly used by water users to create water (in
which they convert moisture in the air into water), but more
advanced water users and wind users can learn to manipulate this
moisture. When used, this works much like normal air
manipulation, except that one can use this to attack using
moisture related attacks, such as one could create an attack
using moisture that could freeze something on impact, or one
could use water vapor to burn opponents (due to water vapor
being evaporated water which is hot enough to burn others).
Depending on how this is used, creative users can find ways to
attack with this from creating shock waves of water vapor and
moisture, or one can simply create new water attacks by
manipulating this power (which is how most water users use
moisture). This power is more of a wind user power than a water
user ability, so this is better countered by counters to wind
manipulation, such as using earth manipulation or other counters
to wind. It is also necessary to counter the heat of water vapor
as water vapor is extremely hot normally, and some may have to
counter moisture manipulation if it is meant to freeze
opponents.
- Water Manipulation Ability: Acid and Base Water Manipulation:
Not many realize it, but water can be modified by adjusting it's
pH levels, which some water manipulators have learned to utilize
as part of their water manipulation. Water manipulators have
learned to change the base and acidity of water to better attack
opponents, in which they can use acidic water or basic water for
different effects depending on how its used and which end of the
pH spectrum the user manipulates the water. Most don't know it,
but water's ability to neutralize base or acidic properties can
be modified making it useful not only to attack, but as a way to
counter acidic and basic substances (such as using basic water
to counter acid manipulation). For the most part, acidic water
does exactly what people might think, in which the acidic water
corrodes and melts objects by eating away at their cells if the
pH level is low enough. In this state, acidic water works much
like acid manipulation when used properly. However, not many
know how base manipulation in water works, where increasing the
pH level in water makes it more basic, and improves it's
alkalinity (it's ability to neutralize acids). By using this in
battle though, there is another use for this in that water that
is too basic causes irritation, itching and can even blind
people if thrown into their eyes. However, strong enough bases
can also be very highly corrosive just like acids which is
another thing people don't often realize. Of course, acidic and
basic water also have negative effects if introduced into the
body, which water manipulators can do through open wounds or
even just forcing water into their body (With some advanced
users even being able to manipulate the water in the body
through physical touch using this method to cause internal
damage). This can amplify a water manipulator's ability to
attack using these waters, adding extra effects to their water
manipulation. For example, a pressurized water bullet using
acidic water could more easily pierce opponents and eat away an
opponent's skin as the water bullet pierces them, while basic
water can case adverse effects such as making someone sick, and
even reduce someone's body temperature. Of course, as one might
imagine, counters to water still work against this power, such
as using lightning or wind to as water counters or using energy
to protect one from contact with the water by using things like
energy defense and other similar abilities.
- Advanced Water Manipulation Ability: Pressurized Water Blast:
Most people don't know how dangerous water can be, as water
users like Leviathan have shown that pressurized water can be
used to attack opponents with immense pressure. Experienced
water users like Leviathan have even managed to break through
metal with strong enough blasts of water. When used, the biggest
advantage is usually the pure concussive force generated by the
impact of a pressurized water blast, which can cause devastating
damage. This is a bit of a difficult technique to use, but
advanced enough water users can use this power. When used, one
needs to create pressure by compressing the water to a point
where the water cannot regain it's normal form, where the
compression will build pressure until the user releases the
water in the form of a pressurized water blast. Users can even
utilize streams of pressurized water which have been known to
even blast through people (with enough pressure, a blast could
blast through a person's body), making this a very dangerous
power to use in combat if a user can learn it. This can be used
to create smaller, faster blasts that pierce more easily due to
being smaller form and more compressed, or one can create larger
attacks that might be slightly slower (but still very fast) but
are much harder to dodge. Depending on how it's used, this
technique is often favored by water users in combat, in which
even those that don't know this technique will often seek this
technique in order to attack opponents. Some more creative users
can even blast opponents and break through certain defenses,
with some stronger uses of this even breaking energy defenses
with enough force put into the blasts. as one might expect,
dodging this attack is far better than trying to block it, as
most opponents who don't know the power of pressurized water
will often find it to have far more power than most think. As
such, unless one knows the power output, these attacks are best
dodged rather than blocked, but certain stronger opponents can
handle these kinds of attacks if they are strong enough (such as
Leviathan who can take impacts from these water blasts to a
degree). Of course, normal water counters do still work if one
counters the kinetic force of the impacts of pressurized water.
- Water Manipulation Ability: Water-based Kinetic Energy
Absorption: One of water's more useful properties that most
don't take advantage of is water's ability to absorb impacts and
kinetic energy, in which water is naturally able to absorb and
dispel kinetic force (which is why objects often move slower in
water than they normally would, or objects that hit water with
force will stop when they hit the water). Water is quite useful
in combat by those that have learned to utilize water, in which
users can use water to defend against attacks and use water to
absorb impacts. Water can be very defensive (in which it can be
argued to even be better than ice defense in some cases), in
which water can not only stop some kinetic impacts, but can also
absorb certain techniques. For example, a wind blast or
shockwave blast would have reduced effect in the water, and
sound manipulation is reduced and hindered by water thanks to
it's liquid nature. As such, users have learned to use water to
block a variety of attack, such as using a wall of water to
absorb wind attacks, or using a mass of water to stop an
opponent's physical attack. When used by experienced users, some
experienced users can even use kinetic energy of water to
completely reflect kinetic energy, in which some water born
intelligent creatures like Atlanteans have been able to utilize
water in motion to create a shield that can reflect physical
attacks by using water's properties to their advantage. As one
might imagine, this is quite useful to those that master this,
though as one might expect, this only works if the attack hits
the water and there is enough water to dispel the attack. In
order to counter an attack, the water's ability to absorb
kinetic energy has to overpower the kinetic energy of an object
or person. For example, using a wall of water wouldn't be enough
to block bullets (though it would slow the bullets reducing the
damage), but using enough kinetic energy with the water could be
used to stop bullets if the kinetic energy used by the water is
strong enough. In essence, this technique comes down to which
force can overpower the other. While water usually has an
advantage in that it can absorb more kinetic impact than kinetic
impacts can effect water, there are users who can overpower this
ability.
- The Clear Atlantean King Ability: Aquatic Life
Dominion/Control: As an avatar of the Clear, and descendant of
King Atlan, Aquaman possesses the ability to tune himself to the
Clear, the life force that connects all aquatic life in the
ocean. This could be as simple as talking to a goldfish in a
house, or talking to sharks in the ocean. As the king of
Atlantis and wielder of the Trident of Neptune, Aquaman has
dominion over all sea life from large sea monsters down to the
very microbes as long as it is a sea faring life form. Aquaman
even gained dominion over uncontrollable creatures like the
creatures of the Trench, a race of Atlanteans that devolved into
sea creatures that lost their intelligence, a feat that many
thought impossible as no Atlantean king before had managed to
tame the Kingdom of the Trench. Aquaman has command over all sea
life, and can call them to him at any time. He can call sea life
to help him in battle when in the sea, summoning not only things
like sharks and whales, but larger sea monsters from the deep
that are quite dangerous. Aquaman's attunement to the Clear
spans the entire world, in which Aquaman can sense the sea life
and connect to it anywhere in the world as long as he is in the
water. This also lets Aquaman share his senses in which he can
perceive what the creatures do, and he can let them perceive
what he does. This ability can be very useful when needed, as
Aquaman can essentially call any sea life depending on the
situation. For example, he once used microbes to eat away the
wiring of a bomb, and even once hide inside a whale to hide from
his half brother when his half brother ruled Olympus. This
ability is mostly only useful while in the water, and really
isn't much use on land where there is no sea life. This has led
to a lot of people thinking Aquaman is useless in fights on land
(even though he's not). This ability also only works as long as
Aquaman is tuned to the Clear, and if he is not tuned to the
Clear, then he cannot use this (whether it's a focus problem or
the Clear could reject him if Aquaman doesn't follow the rules
as an avatar). It is also worth nothing that intelligent
creatures such as other Atlanteans could resist this and may not
hearken to Aquaman's dominion, especially if they happen to be
his enemy (which means that enemies of Aquaman could resist this
with strong enough will).
- Black Lantern Leftover Ability: Undead Sea Life Dominion: This
is a leftover ability that Aquaman had as a Black Lantern. When
he was killed by his brother at one time, he was resurrected by
Nekron, lord of the Black Lanterns. When he was resurrected as a
Black Lantern, he gained the ability to control the dead sea
life just as he had once controlled the sea life. This is an
ability he kept after he was restored to life thanks to help
from Raven Sparrow during the Black Lantern invasion. In this
ability, Aquaman is able to control the dead life in the water
through his connection to the Clear. These days, it has become
something of a taboo, and something Aquaman does not like doing
as he doesn't like messing with life and death power, but this
has granted him some useful undead sea creatures to help him in
battle without hurting living sea creatures. For example, he
could summon undead creatures to eat dangerous things in the
water, or he could utilize dead creatures to fight on his behalf
in battle, such as using undead sharks to attack opponents.
Typically, Aquaman only really uses this to save from risking
the lives of living sea creatures, but he can use this in a
variety of ways. While this does work similarly to his normal
dominion of the Clear's aquatic life, the major difference is
that Aquaman can create undead aquatic life (something that
would normally be taboo). And just like his normal Clear
attunement to the aquatic sea life, Aquaman is able to tune
himself to the undead sea creatures he controls, where he can
share his senses with the creatures, or let the creatures see
what he does. Overall, this works the same way as his attunement
to the Clear's sea life, and mostly follows the same rules. This
also means that this power has the same weaknesses, such as not
being able to call sea life unless being close to water, or if
he's not attuned to the Clear (which could happen if the Clear
rejects him for some reason). This is also an ability that the
Clear doesn't like Aquaman to have as an avatar, as the Clear
doesn't like manipulating the dead in any form (and doesn't like
the Black Lanterns), so if he uses this carelessly, it is
possible the Clear could reject him as an avatar. And just like
with the Clear's attunement, strong enough wills can resist this
dominion (though not many undead would have wills strong enough
to resist since most undead are mindless).
- Waterbearer Ability: Connection/Teleportation to the Secret
Sea: Thanks to his title and the Waterbearer hand, Aquaman has a
special connection to the Secret Sea, a sea that possesses a
water of life that can grant eternal youth. This particular
power allows Aquaman a connection that only he possesses,
something that not even other avatars of the Clear possess. By
using this, Aquaman is able to sense and commune with the Secret
Sea at any time, and can even instantly teleport or create
portals to the Secret Sea at will. The main purpose for this is
so that Aquaman can protect the Secret Sea from it's biggest
enemy, which is a dark reflection of the Secret Sea known only
as "The Thirst." It is for this reason that the Waterbearer
title and the Waterbearer hand exist, as the Secret Sea uses it
to call on people who would defend it from The Thirst. As such,
this connection to the Secret Sea allows it to call to Aquaman
if it is ever in trouble, and Aquaman can instantly move to the
Secret Sea no matter where it is (as the location of it can move
at will in order to keep itself hidden from enemies), and
Aquaman is able to sense not only the Secret Sea, but be able to
sense when others approach it or if the secret sea is in
trouble. Aquaman also has this connection to be able to use the
Secret Sea's sea of life to use water infused with the power of
life (more in the next ability). This connection is not a power
avatars of the Clear can gain, or powers that any other
Atlantean can gain, but the only way to maintain this connection
is through his Waterbearer hand and Waterbearer title. If those
are taken away (which the Lady of the Lake can take those away
at any time if she chooses to), then Aquaman will lose that
connection and be unable to move to the Secret Sea. It is also
possible to cut Aquaman off from the Secret Sea using
dimensional barriers that could cut off the Secret Sea from
normal time and space.
- Waterbearer Ability: Secret Sea Water of Life
Control/Summoning: This is a power that came from him being
given the Waterbearer title from the Lady of the Lake and giving
him a connection to the sea of life within the Secret Sea, in
which this makes Aquaman a conduit for the secret sea thanks to
his Waterbearer hand, a water of life which heals others, as
well as granting eternal youth (in high enough quantities).
Aquaman can use this to heal others and himself by pouring it on
wounds, and if he gives someone enough, it will grant those who
drink enough of it eternal youth. This also can speed up
Aquaman's healing considering as he is a conduit for this power
and the sea of life flows through him. Thanks to his Waterbearer
hand, he is able to utilize this water at any time. While it's
biggest use is healing others, it is also able to do damage to
undead, in which it can purify and destroy undead beings
(similar to how life energy counters undead beings). This water
is mostly used just like normal water, except that it has the
element of life energy infused into it, and is one of the few
waters to essentially have it's own life energy (Which is why
this water is often sought by others). Some have equated this to
the Fountain of Youth, or some have also seen it as just life
energy and water mixed together. Either way, this water is very
useful, and can be used a variety of ways. Just as one might
expect, one can use this like normal water, such as freezing the
water or boiling it, or using pressurized water to attack with.
Typically, using this in battle is only really useful against
undead who are vulnerable to the power of life and of healing
(which most undead usually are with certain exceptions), or to
be used to heal people. Typically, this is forbidden from being
used to grant people eternal life, as it is against the rules of
the Waterbearer to grant someone, though certain exceptions
could be made with agreement from the Secret Sea's permission,
as the Secret Sea could make exceptions to this rule.
- Waterbearer Ability: Dehydrating Touch: This is an ability of
Aquaman's Waterbearer Hand, in which he can absorb water from
opponents. This technique is more used by The Thirst, but
Aquaman is able to use it as well thanks to his Waterbearer hand
and title. By using this, he can draw the water out of living
beings through physical contact, in which he can dehydrate them
if he chooses to. When in physical contact, the waterbearer hand
absorbs the water from a person's body, and can, over time,
leave them without any water in their bodies. When used to
slightly dehydrate opponents (as opponents can fight back and
lessen how long they are in contact with Aquaman), they will
lose stamina and be unable to move as effectively without enough
water in their muscles. This can also cause other affects such
as passing out, and dizziness (among other symptoms of
dehydration). If completely drained of water, the person will be
left in a near death state, where they will be completely rained
of water and be left with most of their physical mass gone aside
from their bones, skin and some of their blood. Without
immediate treatment and water infusion into the body, most
people will die in this state before long, as this is the
equivalent of not drinking any liquids for months on end. If
grabbed and affected by this hand, one can lessen how much water
is drained from them by breaking contact with Aquaman. It is not
an instant process, taking a little time before one can have all
the water drained from their bodies. If one breaks contact, the
process won't finish, and the user will get away with only
slight dehydration. Depending on how much water is lost, this
can be a minor inconvenience or a deadly affliction, as almost
every being requires water in order to keep functioning. It is
also worth noting that certain kinds of water can negatively
affect Aquaman, such as death-energy infused water could poison
Aquaman (a process which could affect leftover Black Lantern
powers and cause damage to his living body).
- Waterbearer Ability: Water Regeneration/Water Form: This is
another ability that he gained with his waterbearer hand. Though
he can manipulate water, normally Aquaman wouldn't be able to
take water form, but the Waterbearer hand, combined with the
magic power it possesses, granted Aquaman the ability to not
only manipulate water, but become it. This serves a few
purposes, such as he could use the water form to avoid attacks,
or he could use it to regenerate (the most common way this is
used). When used to regenerate, this allows him to use water to
essentially reform his body back into standard condition as long
as he in able to consciously control the water form. For
example, a cut could be healed by using water to reform the part
of his body that is cut, and making it reform without the cut.
This is a skill that is often used by those that can take water
form, as it is a very common ability among some elemental users
(mainly the Darkfires) to take elemental form to be able to
reform without injuries they take. Aquaman is no different, in
which he can regenerate using water, in which his waterbearer
hand can even regenerate his body using the Secret Sea sea of
life water that can heal others. Thanks to this power, Aquaman
is able to utilize this in battle, and can even take other forms
in the water, such as taking the water form of a sea monster and
attacking opponents (though he would only take the form in the
form of water, and not in physical form). This power is more
about defense and regeneration than actual attack though, as
Aquaman mostly just uses it to heal himself if he gets injured.
As one might guess, when in water form, Aquaman is more
vulnerable to counters to water, with the most dangerous thing
being electricity. If he were to receive an electrical charge
when in water form and the water is dispelled into hydrogen and
oxygen gases, he could very well die or be unable to resume his
normal form unless his molecules could be restructured back into
water. But even restructuring himself using his water
manipulation would still leave him damage due to the effect of
the lightning on him even in water form. When in this form, some
can even attack him without him being in physical form (such as
those with abilities like haki or other attack spirit form
negation powers).
Royal Atlantean Abilities:
- Royal Atlantean/Human Hybrid Lineage: Aquaman is a unique
hybrid, a rare hybrid of Atlantean and human that was born of
royal lineage in Atlantis. This created something of a unique
hybrid in Aquaman, in which he was far above normal Atlanteans.
Due to being a hybrid, he has enhanced physiology that can adapt
to being both on land and in the sea, and he also is born of
royal Atlantean lineage, so he has far superior physiology to
the lower-born Atlanteans. Atlanteans are powerful warriors,
driven to the bottom of the oceans during ancient times. There
are different kinds of Atlanteans, and different kinds of
underwater dwelling intelligent races, but Atlanteans are among
some of the strongest underwater creatures in the waters.
Atlanteans have different physiology than humans in which they
evolved to live underwater. In addition to being powerful
warriors, they have bodies designed to traverse the oceans.
Atlanteans are able to swim extremely fast, with the fastest
swimmers being able to swim faster than the speed of sound, and
Atlanteans being able to adapt to pressure changes and handle
pressures at the bottom of the sea (which are estimated to be
over 8 tons per square inch at the deepest depths, or the
equivalent of an average-sized person surrounded by the weight
of 48 jumbo jets). And due to the pressures they must withstand,
their physical abilities are far above that of normal humans due
to just how strong they are. They are known for having tough
bodies, and having immense strength, speed and durability thanks
to their physiology. For the most part, opponents who wish to
fight an Atlantean often require special technology (usually
Atlantean technology which is advanced enough and strong enough
to damage even royal lineage Atlanteans), as most normal means
aren't strong enough to damage Atlanteans as their strength and
durability are stronger than most beings. The other major
weakness of Atlanteans is that they must be able to absorb water
regularly or they will get dehydrated (basically becoming fish
out of water and weakening severely).
- Atlantean Physiology: There are currently five known
variations of Atlantean physiology as Atlantis is not the only
Atlantean kingdom in the depths (as there were actually seven
kingdoms, but two were lost to time). The first is the
Atlanteans of Atlantis, who are appear human in nature (with no
fish appearances). For the most part, Atlantis Atlanteans are
adapted to live underwater, with the high born Atlanteans being
able to breath air and water (an advantage the Atlantis
Atlanteans have over other Atlanteans) and are more known for
more of them being able to breath both in air and water as the
other kingdoms only have royal born Atlanteans that are capable
of breathing air on the surface. Next are the Xebel Atlanteans,
another race of Atlanteans that retain their human appearance.
Known as the Xebelians, these creatures are different from
Atlantis Atlanteans in the fact that while they aren't as strong
physically, they are able to manipulate water far better than
Atlantis Atlanteans to the point that Xebelians are able to even
weaponize water manipulation in combat compared to the
Atlanteans who mostly rely on their strength and superior
physical stats. The last three are the ones who evolved into
non-humanoid forms. The first is the Brine, who are almost
crab-like in appearance, and live on the ocean floor. The Brine
Atlanteans have evolved to live in extreme heat, and unlike the
other kingdoms, have evolved to even handle the heat of magma
and some levels of concentrated plasma used by other kingdoms to
a degree. The next is the Fishermen Atlanteans, who took on more
of a fish form. The Fishermen are far better adapted to the
aquatic environment, and can swim far more effectively than the
other Atlanteans. This means that in water, the Fishermen are
among the fastest swimmers of the Atlanteans. However, the
Fishermen are not able to adapt to land life as easily, as they
are not meant for living on land (which means even in their
kingdom they have little to no surface dwelling environments
like Atlantis and Xebel). The last known are the creatures of
the Trench. These are mindless brutes who are the most vicious
and effective killers of the Atlantean variations. Mostly these
creatures are mindless, as these Atlanteans only really care
about killing and eating. It is not known if there are any of
these creatures with any intelligence, but these are known to be
the most dangerous subspecies of Atlantean, as they are able to
fight and kill almost any form of Atlantean. They are almost as
fast as the Fishermen, and they are able to out fight those like
the Atlantis and Xebel Atlanteans. Each race has it's own
weaknesses and strengths, but the core essence of the Atlanteans
mostly remains the same throughout each sub race. The other two
kingdoms were lost, as one died out completely, and one was lost
due to unknown circumstances, so no one knows what the other two
variations were like or what their abilities were. Aquaman is an
Atlantis Atlantean.
- High-Born Atlantis Atlantean Amphibious Adaption: The Atlantis
Atlanteans are able to traverse both land and sea, in which they
can survive both in land environments and in sea environments.
Normally, Atlanteans are used to immense pressures, but they are
also able to handle immense pressure changes at will. Many
Atlanteans can go from immense pressure of the ocean to the
surface level pressure without any problem, even if its in an
instant. Unlike humans who cannot descend and ascend from the
depths too quickly, Atlanteans can move through depths without
worrying about decompression sickness like humans. Of course,
for those Atlanteans lower-born (Atlanteans born in the lower
society that aren't as physically advanced as the high-borns of
the higher society like the royal Atlanteans and noble
Atlanteans) that can't handle it as easily, they will usually
encase themselves in special suits that keep them under pressure
and act like suits that let them keep themselves in water under
the pressure of the depths. Normally, Atlanteans cannot breathe
on land, and require suits to wear that act like suits that
contain water for them to breathe in the same manner humans use
space suits in space to take oxygen to breathe. However, for
high-born Atlanteans (those born usually in noble or royal
lineage), high-born Atlanteans can breathe both water and air,
and can switch between the two easily thanks to them being of
higher quality. In addition, high born Atlanteans are also able
to adapt to pressure changes more quickly, in which they are
better able to traverse different depths. However, only the
high-borns or human/Atlantean hybrids are known to be able to
live on land as well as in the sea (as lower-born Atlanteans
cannot breath air just as humans cannot breathe underwater). For
high born Atlanteans, it is important to know that while they
can survive in both water and land environments, they can be
affected by air quality (such as polluted air can cause problems
for them). For Aquaman, he is both a high-born and a
Atlantean/human hybrid, so he is able to live both on land and
at sea much more easily able to switch between the two than most
Atlanteans, including the high-born Atlanteans.
- Atlantean Water Absorption: Unlike humans, Atlanteans absorb
water through swimming, in which their bodies require water in
order to keep their bodies hydrated. This doesn't just include
the low-borns who cannot breath air, but this includes the
higher-borns as well (though high-born Atlanteans can go longer
without water than low-borns). In order to combat their
dehydration, Atlanteans absorb water through their skin, and
require water in order to keep themselves operating at normal
capacity. Thanks to this, Atlanteans can absorb almost any kind
of water, similar to some elemental users absorbing their
elementals. Atlanteans can absorb water in a few different
forms, from freezing water (They cannot absorb ice, but they can
absorb water at freezing temperatures), boiling water (with the
exception of temperatures beyond their heat and fire resistance
capacity), acidic and basic water (different ends of the pH
scale). By absorbing this water, Atlanteans are able to send
water through their body and keep themselves fighting at normal
capacity. Depending on the Atlanteans, some Atlantean races are
better at absorbing water than others, such as the Fishermen are
more suited for absorbing water, but they aren't too effective
on land, or the Brine who are known for appearing to adapt to
magma level environments and absorbing super-heated water.
However, all Atlanteans do require water in some form, as they
will die if they are not hydrated properly, as evidenced by the
Deserter kingdom who died out after the Sahara dried into a
desert and they lost all access to water. Higher born Atlanteans
can go longer without water, but even the toughest Atlanteans
must keep themselves hydrated since the Atlanteans dehydrate
faster than most other races. This even includes Atlantean
hybrids, as even the most powerful hybrids still required water
(Though some that are able to use water manipulation are better
suited to survive longer on land if they are able to create
water from moisture at will). It is not enough to absorb
moisture or vapor in the air, as Atlanteans need actual water to
survive (and one cannot use a substitute like oil or some other
liquid that is not water).
- Atlantean Hardened Bodies: Atlanteans have a very hard body,
as their race lives at the bottom of the ocean under insane
pressure, and they have evolved to withstand this pressure.
While their cities are shielded and the pressure in the cities
is the same as it would be on the surface, this means that all
Atlanteans can adapt to pressure change much more easily than
almost any other race on earth due to evolving with the need to
constantly go between ocean pressure and normal land pressure.
They are able to go from ocean depth pressure to almost none
with no trouble, being able to withstand immense pressure or
lack thereof. This makes their bodies not only very adaptable,
but makes them extremely difficult to damage in a fight due to
them having evolved to be tough enough to handle the pressures
of the deepest parts of the oceans. It takes a lot of strength
to hurt an Atlantean thanks to their hardened body, in which
most only manage to do so through armor piercing weapons, or
Atlantean technology designed to battle other Atlanteans.
Combined with their impressive combat training, this makes most
Atlanteans a very tough opponent, and those that are higher born
are even tougher than the lower-born Atlanteans. An Atlantean is
also durable enough they can be dropped from the sky, crash
through a building, and be relatively unaffected (although the
tech they wear to keep themselves in water might not be so lucky
as lower born wear suits to encase themselves in water). Royal
bloodline Atlanteans are also much stronger, and many royal
bloodline Atlanteans are strong enough that they could have a
building dropped on them without taking too much damage. This
isn't just in their skin and outer body though, as even their
organs, and parts of the body not usually strengthened are
strengthened due to the pressure they live under and constantly
have to adapt to. In order to hurt an Atlantean, the best way is
to use Atlantean tech designed to hurt creatures and other
Atlanteans in the ocean depths (as they have tech specifically
designed to kill creatures adapted to that pressure). It is also
possible that certain armor piercing or high caliber ammo in
guns might be able to affect Atlanteans. It is also possible for
fire and lightning to do more damage to Atlanteans, as fire can
still burn them, and lightning can conduct through them just as
easily as any other being. For Aquaman, he is a royal born
Atlantean, and is tougher than most other Atlanteans.
- Atlantean Strength and Defense: As mentioned, Atlanteans
possess immensely hard bodies. However, it isn't just their
bodies being hardened, but their bodies are extremely strong.
This grants them certain other benefits, in this case their
massive strength. Stronger Atlanteans are able to attack at
immense levels of strength, in which those like royal blood
Atlanteans have been able to break metal weapons, with even the
lower-born Atlanteans being strong enough that they are much
stronger than most supernatural creatures on the surface.
Higher-born Atlanteans are strong enough that they can often
tear apart metal with ease, in which some can break metal
weapons like cardboard. Some have been strong enough to rip
metal doors open, and some of the strongest Atlanteans have been
strong enough to lift boats out of the ocean. As such, their
strength is definitely not to be underestimated. However, as
mentioned earlier, they do also have immensely powerful bodies,
which also aides them in defense. When it comes to the strength
of their bodies, many metal objects cannot pierce their bodies,
in which some with normal weapons cannot even hurt an Altantean.
Many are even able to take gunfire without flinching, and some
higher level Atlanteans have been seen shrugging off grenade
launcher shots with little effort (though some things like
grenade launcher shots can stun them due to the impact).
Overall, Atlanteans have very strong bodies, and depending on
the Atlantean, high-born Atlanteans have much stronger bodies
than normal Atlanteans, making those that are high-born even
more dangerous. However, as one might imagine, even Atlanteans
have their weaknesses, such as high vibration cutting weapons
that separate the bonds between cells (Which has even been known
to cut adamantium), and as mentioned Atlanteans have technology
specifically designed to take down criminal Atlanteans. There
are also some disadvantages of being so tough as this can cause
problems in certain situations like in medical treatment,
especially if needing to be treated in a hospital, as one
Atlantean went to a hospital and died because the doctors
couldn't give the Atlantean the IV needle since they weren't
able to pierce the skin. And those with this strength must learn
to control their strength or they could hurt friends or family
not as strong as them. For Aquaman, he is strong enough that he
has thrown ocean liners, and when he was held prisoner by his
brother, it took an entire team of strong Atlanteans to hold his
chains and prevent him from overpowering them, showing that he
is among the strongest of the Atlanteans. He has also shrugged
off explosions and even fallen from the sky through a building
without a scratch. Aquaman has even kicked large pillars away
with ease, even underwater at incredible speeds.
- Atlantean Speed and Agility: While most strong and defense
based beings are normally not very fast and agile, that is not
the case with Atlanteans. For the most part, even lower-born
Atlanteans are just as fast and agile as humans are, and have
even better physical stats when in aquatic environments. And as
one gets higher up in the Atlantean society, the higher born
Atlanteans are even more agile and fast in water. When it comes
to agility, Atlanteans don't lose any agility with their immense
strength (just the opposite), and they are able to move far
faster than humans can. When it comes to speed, Atlanteans are
extremely fast, being able to swim at incredible speeds even at
the bottom of the ocean, in which the fastest Atlanteans are
able to swim faster than the speed of sound. While most
Atlanteans aren't equipped to live on land, when in the sea,
Atlanteans will always have the advantage, as they are among the
most skilled underwater species that has arisen (among other
underwater races like the Fishmen). When it comes to their speed
and agility, there aren't many that can compare to Atlanteans in
the water. On land, high-born Atlanteans are fast enough even to
block bullets (which puts them at incredible speeds beyond that
of humans) and are even able to leap from the ground to great
heights with their enhanced agility, which makes high-born
Atlanteans very fast and agile even on land. In order to swim at
the speeds they do at the bottom of the ocean, they have to be
able to resist immense pressure, which is why they are usually
so much faster than most mortal races. While not at super speed
levels like some faster supernaturals, Atlanteans are extremely
fast, and in the water, they are second to almost none. The only
real danger to them is that they can be outclassed by speed, and
they do lose a lot of speed when on land. And if an Atlantean
isn't able to adapt the conditions on land, it's possible the
lesser pressure could throw off their combat abilities (though
this usually isn't a problem with high born Atlanteans).
Overall, the speed and agility of Atlanteans is impressive, but
on land, even higher born Atlanteans can be outclassed by
creatures in terms of speed (as some supernaturals can move on
land faster than Atlanteans can move in the water).
- Atlantean Durability and Accelerated Healing: Even though
Atlanteans have hard bodies and aren't too used to taking damage
unless it's by their technology, Atlanteans are still extremely
durable. Atlanteans are able to take a lot of damage before they
are overwhelmed, in which some Atlanteans have survived far more
than most would be able to. Atlanteans have been able to handle
far more damage than most beings, in which they are much harder
to kill. It is possible that them surviving at the bottom of the
ocean has increased their durability immensely, in which they
are able to handle far more damage thanks to the long time they
spent at the bottom of the ocean evolving to survive the
pressures of the deep. However, their durability isn't just in
how much damage they can take, as they also heal much faster
than most other beings (as some even have compared this to
supernatural regeneration in some cases). Atlanteans are able to
heal extremely fast, in which even serious injuries can heal in
only a few hours with proper treatment. Thanks to this,
Atlanteans can usually recover from most normal injuries very
quickly, which is another possible evolution they've had thanks
to having evolved to living underwater. Higher born Atlanteans
can recover very quickly from injuries and are even more durable
than the lower born Atlanteans as one might imagine. In addition
to healing fast, it seems that their increased healing has also
led to them to things like having a highly increased tolerance
to alcohol as well (as some high born Atlanteans can drink for
an entire day and barely seem to feel the effects). Overall, it
shouldn't surprise anyone that Atlanteans are durable given
their strength and what they survive at the bottom of the ocean.
Of course, as mentioned, they can still be hurt (though it takes
a lot more effort, and usually some sort of special plan to
damage them), and they can still be killed just like a human if
they take a serious enough injury. Serious injuries do still
need to be treated properly, and while Atlanteans can heal
quickly, they can still suffer most of the same problems as
humans when healing such as infections, improper healing from
certain kinds of wounds, and other afflictions if wounds are not
properly treated (and Atlanteans have far less time to treat
their wounds properly since they heal more quickly than that of
most mortals which can be a problem at times).
- Atlantean Extreme Cold /Ice Adaption/Near Immunity: Most know
that the bottom of the ocean is dark without light. Combined
with the fact that cold water is much denser than warm water, it
is reasonable to understand why Atlanteans have developed a
resistance to the cold in their time having evolved to live at
the ocean depths. Most Atlanteans are highly resistant to the
cold, with higher born Atlanteans even having immunity to the
effects of the cold (to the point that they don't suffer
freezing damage if they are frozen). Because they have adapted
to cold temperatures far beyond that of anything the surface is
capable of, Atlanteans are highly resistant to cold, with the
higher born Atlanteans being immune to cold completely. This
helps them not only when they are in cold environments, but is
able to help them against opponents that might try to use the
cold to their advantage. When it comes to trying to freeze an
Atlantean, the only thing that could hurt the Atlantean being
frozen is that they wouldn't be able to breathe. It is very
difficult to freeze an Atlantean though, as they can counter
cold temperatures that most mortals and supernaturals wouldn't
be able to handle. For the most part, Atlanteans are able to
adapt to cold temperatures, and even among the coldest
temperatures that can be made on the planet, most of the coldest
temperatures are still not enough to affect an Atlantean. As
such, using cold or ice on an Atlantean (especially a high-born
Atlantean) is not advised since Atlanteans can usually shrug off
cold temperatures. Some can even be encased in ice without being
killed (as long as they can still breathe). This means that
things like frost bite don't happen to Atlanteans, and they
rarely ever suffer any negative effects of the cold, However, it
is possible that absolute zero temperatures could freeze them
since they haven't suffered the coldest temperatures out there,
but this theory is untested, and so far, cold freezing
temperatures haven't really worked. While Atlanteans can still
be hurt by ice and freezing attacks, they just don't suffer
additional cold damage from it.
- Atlantean Heat/Fire Adaption/Resistance: Atlanteans often move
closer to underwater volcanoes, as some travel close to magma at
the ocean floor. As such, Atlanteans have developed a heat
resistance as well as cold resistance. Atlanteans are able to
handle far more heat than most mortals, in which they can even
suffer normal fire to an extent. Though unlike their cold
adaption, Atlanteans can still be damaged by high enough
temperatures, such as concentrated plasma and fire. When it
comes to heat, they are able to handle heat much better than
mortals, whether it's underwater or on the surface. Atlanteans,
especially higher born Atlanteans are able to handle the heat
without any issue, in which some Atlanteans have even gone
through the Sahara Desert or through Death Valley, which are
known to be among the hottest places on earth. Some Atlanteans
have even been able to walk through fire without a problem
(though this was only normal fire, not concentrated heat or
special fires that burn hotter than normal flames). As such,
Atlanteans are able to survive far more than most people, in
which their adaptability to temperature allows this resistance
to heat. However, unlike their cold resistance, they are still
vulnerable to things like concentrated plasma or concentrated
heat, in which Atlantean tech that fires high concentrated beams
of plasma has been able to hurt an Atlantean, and Atlanteans
have been able to be burned by the Darkfire clan's dark flames
(which burn hot enough to burn and consume normal flames). Of
course, these weaknesses are were tested against higher born
Atlanteans, which means that lower born Atlanteans would have
less resistance to heat. For the most part, Atlanteans are also
vulnerable to magma, in which magma from the mantle in the
underwater volcano's has been known to kill Atlanteans, even
high borns. The only real exception to this are the Atlantean
kingdom of the Brine, who seem to be equipped to live in magma
heat level environments. So it is very important to note that
while they have some resistance, their resistance isn't quite as
expansive as their cold resistance. Of course, they also have
heat that can specifically hurt Atlanteans (like an Atlantean
concentrated plasma beam is designed to hurt an Atlantean). It
is also worth noting that since Atlanteans dehydrate faster than
humans do and require more water than humans do, heat can also
be used methodically to dehydrate Atlanteans in battle as hot
environments can still dehydrate them faster than normal.
- Atlantean Sonar/Super Hearing: Due to sound not traveling well
in water, Atlanteans have special hearing that is used
underwater. While they do have enhanced hearing on land (for
those that can go on land), Atlanteans don't hear by
conventional means when in the water. The Atlanteans hear by a
special sonar sense, in which they can hear by using sonar
senses to essentially hear much better underwater than they can
on the surface. With this sense, an Atlantean can hear for miles
underwater, and they are able to hear more effectively in the
water than any other race as they can hear each other and other
communication under water as easily as humans can hear each
other when talking. Atlanteans have learned to utilize this to
help them in water, as they have to use this in order to keep
aware of what is around them, much like other aquatic life.
However, this doesn't just apply to them being able to hear
better in the water, as they can also hear much better above
water (at least for those that can survive on land), in which
Atlanteans can hear far better than most other races thanks to
their enhanced hearing. Of course, Atlanteans can tell sounds in
the ocean far better than humans, even with humans having
advanced sonar equipment. Atlanteans are able to hear extremely
far, with high-born Atlanteans having even stronger senses than
the low-born Atlanteans. Of course, as one might expect, this
can be a danger as certain frequencies can cause damage to their
hearing if exposed to certain frequencies, and the enhanced
hearing can be dangerous to those that would take advantage of
it since those like humans would likely use technology to create
frequencies or sounds that would hurt the Atlantean super
hearing.
- Atlantean Adaptability/Power Users: Like most mortals,
Atlanteans are adaptable and able to learn the same abilities as
humans can (for the most part) thanks them still being partly
human. This includes being able to learn things like magic,
mana, psychic, or even holy/unholy abilities depending on what
they have affinities for (Example: Some Atlanteans might have an
affinity for magic, while some might be more tuned to psychic or
holy/unholy abilities). An Atlantean is able to learn these in
the same way as other mortals, such as learning certain arts
like mana user abilities or spirit energy user abilities
depending on their skill sets and affinities. Usually, they can
learn these from other Atlanteans who use special arts or from
the mortals who use these techniques depending on their training
and anyone they can learn from. Usually, Atlanteans can learn
special skills depending on their affinities, where they are
able to learn usually up to two or three special skill sets
depending on their age and training. For the most part, most
typically stick to one or two though, since some of the skill
sets require extensive training and practice to be useful, and
it is typically better to master one special set of skills than
gain a number of them that one cannot fully master (though
having more may mean more ways to attack different kinds of
enemies at the cost of not being able to fully master multiple
skill-sets to maintain their multiple skill-sets). However,
while an Atlantean gains the strength of whatever class power
they gain, they also gain the weaknesses, such as magic users
being weak to magic negation or their magic not hurting those
immune to magic. This applies to all abilities learned, which
means Atlanteans have to weigh strengths and weaknesses of
classes to find out what will work best for them. They are able
to learn the same powers as mortals, and some Atlanteans are
even born with special abilities, which is most common in
Atlantean hybrids. Usually, Atlantis and Xebelian Atlanteans are
most known for having special abilities due to them being more
human than other Atlanteans, but some other races may have
special abilities unique to their race, such as one Brine
Atlantean who had fire mana, a mana that was blazing red and
burned with plasma energy. Aquaman doesn't have any extra
ability sets, as he mostly just uses water manipulation thanks
to is Waterbearer power, though the waterbearer hand did awaken
magical ability of Aquaman (more later).
- Atlantean Water Combat: By absorbing moisture and using it,
Atlanteans are able to use this power to enhance their physical
combat, similar to how certain other elemental users are able to
enhance their physical combat. For Atlanteans, they are able to
not only use water to absorb kinetic impacts, but they are also
able to use absorbed water to keep themselves hydrated during a
fight as part of their fighting style. This doesn't sound like
much, but because of their body's reliance on water to fuel the
body and keep them hydrated, this allows an Altantean who is
skilled in using this to keep their bodies at peak physical
condition longer, using this in combination with their combat
training and slight water manipulation to fight in water or even
on land (depending on the Atlantean as not all can fight on
land). This can also be used to manipulate the body, regulating
the body's water and using it in combat as an Altantean form of
fighting. This doesn't just apply to physical combat though, as
Atlanteans can use this on a daily basis to maintain their
bodies and can use this to keep their bodies in peak condition
longer than most people can by using their slight water
manipulation (though some can use it more effectively than
others). This isn't a passive ability, as it requires some
concentration of water abilities (depending on the Atlantean
variation, some can use this easier than others), but it can
help a lot in battle, since many other elemental users have
their bodily enhancement abilities using elements, such as
lightning users increasing the nerve reaction times and
enhancing their abilities by using electrical energies to charge
themselves with more physical strength. Of course, this requires
knowledge of the body and how to manipulate it in order to use,
as well as a mastery of combat since this is usually used in a
combat style that seems to call the water to them as they fight
using their Atlantean physiology. Most Atlanteans are trained in
this in some form, though only the high-borns are usually able
to master this combat style to it's fullest. Depending on the
Atlantean some even have different techniques, such as the Brine
Atlanteans are able to boil the water around them with this
style using their unique Atlantean physiology. Of course, this
is countered with more experienced fighters, as some can counter
this, and this is also more vulnerable to lightning techniques.
- Poseidon and Neptune's Blessing: Champion of Neptune:
Aquaman's kingdom is that of Atlantis, which is under the
dominion of Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. However, when
Poseidon was alive, Poseidon and Neptune were on decent terms in
which they would often bless the kings of their underwater
kingdoms. For example, it was common for Poseidon to bless
Neptune's champions and vice versa. In this regard, Aquaman was
the last Atlantean king to be blessed by Poseidon before his
death at the hands of the Red Beast. As such, Aquaman was given
the blessing of Poseidon and Neptune as he was named the
Champion of Neptune, which was common for kings of Atlantis.
Aquaman soon even gained Neptune's trident, in which he became
among the strongest champions of Neptune in a long time. This
blessing has granted him certain abilities, as has Neptune's
trident. Among these abilities are the abilities of the
Neptune's trident, like storm and tsunami manipulation, as well
as enhanced water manipulation (though he also gains water
manipulation through his attunement to the Clear and through his
Waterbearer hand). This is a mostly passive power-up in which
Aquaman is more or less close to Neptune, and was close to
Poseidon before his death. Of course, Aquaman doesn't step into
Poseidon's territory without permission, as it is against the
rules of Neptune's domain to go into Poseidon's domain without
reason. This also means that while Aquaman could likely take
Poseidon's trident for himself, Neptune has forbidden him from
taking it, as Aquaman is named Neptune's Champion and not
allowed to wield both Neptune's and Poseidon's tridents. This
also means that Aquaman is more vulnerable to weapons used to
take down Neptune or Poseidon, meaning that weapons designed to
fight the gods of Roman or Greek mythology (or Neptune or
Poseidon specifically). As such, this does grant him some extra
weaknesses.
- Neptune Champion Ability: Tsunami, Fog and Storm Manipulation:
As part of his abilities as a champion of Neptune and wielder of
Neptune's trident, Aquaman is able to use his power to affect
tsunamis, mist/fog and storms, creating them or stopping them as
an extension of his water/ice powers and thanks to the power
that Neptune has given him through Neptune's power and through
the Trident of Neptune. He can also create powerful storms and
tsunami's, in which he can control natural disasters of the sea
at will, whether it's to stop them or to start them. He can also
use this to create mist or fog to help cloud people's vision in
battles, making it harder to keep track of him. When creating
fog and mist, he can usually make it nearly impossible to see
for anyone but him (using his Atlantean enhanced vision), and he
can even slightly influence smell by creating fogs of certain
substances (though this risks affecting him too). Though he can
create small storms pretty easily and create smaller tsunamis
that would be able to knock over a ship on the water pretty
easily, creating larger tsunamis, storms and fog clouds requires
concentration, and he is nowhere near as skilled at controlling
storms as storm demi-gods like Vendetta and Raiden Kindron.
There aren't a lot of enemies that he can really use this on
without risking hurting innocents, which Aquaman tries to avoid
doing. He'd mostly only use this to amplify his allies, such as
using a storm to help generate lightning for a lightning user or
to use storms to have lightning strike an opponent. If a day did
come when he were to declare war on humanity like his brother
did, he could flood a good portion of the world using his power,
though probably at the cost of his Champion of Neptune abilities
since it would be against Neptune's rules to try and take over
the surface world. Overall, this ability is somewhat limited,
and can be countered by stronger disaster manipulators (like
storm gods could counter his storm generation).
- Neptune Champion Ability: Shockwave/Air Pressure Manipulation:
Thanks to the power of the Trident of Neptune, this pitchfork
emits air pressure and shockwaves thanks to it's metal being
able to generate waves of air that can be used like concussive
shockwaves. By generating and concentrating these waves, Aquaman
is able to create waves to attack opponents in different ways,
such as firing a shockwave from the trident, or he can fire a
slashing shockwave by doing a slashing motion. This depends on
how Aquaman focuses his abilities, as he can focus them similar
to how wind users focus shockwaves. Another method he has to
utilize shockwaves is to generate a massive shockwave in the
trident, and then slam it into the ground to release the wave
and blast everything within a certain distance in a 360 degree
shockwave. This skill is mostly used by Aquaman's to block and
counter Maria Blackbeard's devil fruit, as this power is more
like Aquaman's own version of Maria's shockwaves. And being like
Maria's shockwave power using her Gura Gura fruit, these waves
are usually used in a way that they pass through solid matter,
doing damage to opponents as the wave passes through them. When
used this way, the shockwaves don't do impact damage, but
instead do damage to the internal parts of the body when passing
through as a wave. While Aquaman loses the benefit of impact
damage, he does gain more damage through internal damage to the
body instead. This skill can be used a variety of ways, and is
much like the wind users shockwave and slashing waves abilities.
Aquaman is able to switch between the two and can use either
normal shockwaves or create slashing waves depending on what he
wants to do. Of course, as one might expect, one can counter
these much the same way as other shockwave or slashing wave
powers. For example, these are usually blockable (with the
exception of the 360 degree attack that will knock everyone in
range back), though certain slashing wave techniques might
overpower defenses depending on how the attacks are
concentrated. It is also possible to dodge these attacks, just
like it would be for wind users that use this power. Another
method is to use energy or other elemental defense (with this
most likely being countered with water or earth manipulation due
to water's ability to absorb kinetic impact and earth using a
physical object to absorb the impact usually).
- Poseidon's Blessing Ability: Flight: Most people don't know
this, but thanks to Poseidon's blessing, this mystic power was
granted to Aquaman. With this power, Aquaman is able to fly at
will, in which he can this mystic power to travel through the
air. It isn't known why this ability was given to an underwater
being, as underwater beings really don't need to fly, but
Aquaman is able to fly when needed. Though he's not the fastest
in the air, he is able to fly faster than some beings can. When
in the air, he is comparable to those that use abilities like ki
flight, in which this is more of an energy based flight. This
uses mystic power, in which Aquaman uses latent magic power to
fly around when needed. As long as Aquaman has mana, he can use
this to fly through the air much like ki users fly. Thanks to
this skill, Aquaman is able to move much faster on land than
most, as his ability of flight allows him to fly at speeds
faster than he can walk as flying the way he does is almost
comparable to swimming. As such, Aquaman is able to fly faster
than sound when traveling, and in battle, he can move faster
than most opponents can in the air. Aquaman has been known to be
faster than wind users who use the wind to fly, since he uses
energy to fly rather than using the wind. As such, this is a
pretty basic ability that can be useful both in travel and in
combat, in which Aquaman can use this pretty easily and with
minimal energy. However, it is worth noting that there are
certain places that Aquaman cannot fly to, such as not being
able to fly too high or he might risk passing out due to how
much less oxygen there is higher up in the air. He also can be
outclassed by more experienced users of flight, as it's a power
that Aquaman doesn't use very often, and it's not a power that
he really needs most of the time since he usually sticks to
water environments he can travel much faster in.
Combat Abilities:
- Atlantean Trident Combat Style: Among the Altanteans, tridents
are usually the most used weapons, aside from some who use
special Atlantean energy guns. By using the trident fighting
style, Atlanteans typically utilize tridents in combat in a
variety of ways. Among some of the ways they use tridents
including stabbing with the tips of the trident which are
sharpened like spears, hitting opponents away with the trident
like a staff, and throwing the tridents like spears. Advanced
fighters can even learn special moves using water manipulation
(mostly used by the Atlantis and Xebel Atlanteans), in which
some can learn moves like spinning the trident and generating a
current of water for defense using the spinning trident.
Typically, each Atlantean kingdom has their own version of this
fighting style, such as how the Brine use boiling water in this
style to damage opponents, or how the Xebel Atlanteans can fire
pressurized water blasts from their tridents (something only
replicated by high-born Atlantis Atlanteans). This style is very
adaptable, and can be modified by the Atlanteans as needed to
fit their own preferred fighting style. This style is the main
weapon style of Atlantis, and is their main combat training
aside from their water style physical combat. This style is
typically a balanced style that focuses both defense and offense
in unison, and does offer some counterattack and other combat
options. While this style doesn't do things like use attack
spirit or other advanced skills, Atlanteans have the strength
that they are throw their spears with immense force, even at the
bottom of the ocean. Of course, while strong, the major problem
with this style is that it doesn't always allow good defense
against intangible opponents, or opponents who use energy or
elemental forms.
- Supernatural Strengths and Weakneses Expert: Since most
Atlanteans have to fight other supernaturals when they go to the
surface (since they usually seen as enemies or food by most
supernaturals), most learn everything they can about other races
and become experts in almost every kind of creature, and while
they specialize in the sea realm pantheon creatures mostly, most
Atlanteans can learn to fight many other types of creatures as
well. Depending on their training, most Atlanteans have to learn
how to fight all types of creatures whether they want to or not.
Depending on the Atlantean, some might try to blend into crowds
so they can search libraries on all manners of supernatural lore
and creatures if they are able, and they know the strengths and
weaknesses of almost every race, including spells, exorcisms and
traps used against almost all manners of supernaturals.
Depending on the age and experience of the Atlantean, most learn
as much about killing supernaturals as they can, as the more
they know about fighting supernaturals, the higher their chance
of survival in a world that they consider their enemies
(usually). Of course, Atlanteans typically use this opportunity
to learn what they can, but most typically are only limited by
the information they can find and their intelligence capability.
Since most are outcasts from society when they appear, most have
to learn through experience, or infiltrating human civilizations
to find written information they can use. For Aquaman, he was
raised as a human and has studied a lot over the years growing
up, and he knows a lot about all kinds of supernaturals, mostly
focusing on any that could be a threat to him and his people.
Aquaman also seems to know about the Fishman group (a group of
evolved fish that gained human-like characteristics), since
Aquaman has had to be ready if they ever decided to make a move
against Atlantis or their allies.
- Supernatural Hunting and Tracking: Though not supernatural
hunters themselves (usually), Atlanteans learn a lot of the
tricks supernatural hunters use through research into
supernatural hunting techniques, and picked up a lot of tricks
to track people down partially through experience of hunting
down supernatural threats, but also through the combat abilities
many Atlantean's possess. This has left them with not only a
great sense for hunting down opponents they need to hunt down,
but also left them with an innate ability to track opponents.
Atlanteans are able to learn to do very subtle things, like tell
whether a foot print is his target or not by things like the
shape of the boot and how deep the boot-print is, as well as
also being able to tell where their opponents go thanks to
circumstances like walking on plants, and animals that are
unusually silent being signs of predators in an area. They
usually have a sense of when opponents are near, as well as
usually knowing which way an opponent is going. And thanks to
their evolved senses as well as enhanced normal senses, almost
all Atlanteans have a great sense of where things are around
them. While most Atlanteans may not hunt supernaturals, they do
have to learn how to track hunters and other creatures, due to
needing to stay ahead of supernatural hunters and other
creatures that might try to hunt them down. Aquaman is someone
who specializes more in tracking underwater, but his time being
raised as a human has left him with a sense for tracking and a
sense of when people are tracking him, thanks to the years his
half-brother tried to have him killed.
- Supernatural Hunter Training: Exorcism, Weakness and Trap
Knowledge: Most Atlanteans are trained or learn how to use
exorcisms and traps for a multitude of creatures and
mythologies, due to exorcisms and traps being very useful in
their own survival against supernatural creatures. Atlanteans
typically use exorcisms and traps in order to take advantage of
other races weaknesses, and typically use this on other
creatures that are vulnerable to exorcisms and traps. For
example, some Atlanteans know that holy oil works well for
trapping angels, and even know demonic exorcisms to exorcise
angels back to Heaven due to the occasional angel or demon who
might try to recruit or hunt them depending on their intentions.
For the most part, they also know how most supernaturals
operate, in case they should find themselves up against other
supernaturals. Most Atlanteans seek as many ways to exorcise and
trap beings as possible, specifically for finding ways to trap
stronger enemies they may have to run away from, as many
Atlanteans usually use this to try and cast out opponents so
they don't have to fight them as Atlanteans usually try to avoid
conflict (Aside from a few Atlantean kingdoms who like to
fight). As such, many Atlanteans that have been alive a long
time have had the time to build up their knowledge. While many
of them are vulnerable to their own weaknesses, they also use
knowledge of these things to avoid their weaknesses thanks to
being smart enough to learn how these traps work. Most
Atlanteans learn this in order to survive when trying to blend
into the surface world, and learn as much as they can with what
they have. Typically, things like exorcisms and traps can easily
save an Atlantean's life in dangerous situations, and some
Atlanteans have learned a lot about these not just through
books, but by watching other supernatural hunters. Aquaman is
someone who knows quite a lot about this aspect, and has trained
in many different pantheon lores to figure out the best way to
deal with almost any pantheon's deities and creatures due to
being raised among humans and being trained as a Champion of
Neptune.
- Supernatural Hunter Extermination Experts: The other reason
why most Atlanteans become experts in supernatural hunting
techniques, besides just using them to fight other
supernaturals, is so that the Atlanteans can learn how to fight
against other creatures that hunt them. Most Atlanteans will
learn how supernatural hunters operate, whether the hunters are
human, werewolf, vampire or even other creatures like demi-gods.
In order to survive, Atlanteans learn everything they can about
how supernatural hunters operate, and how to avoid most
supernatural hunter traps. This is another aspect that makes
Atlanteans especially dangerous, as their abilities and senses
give them what they need to avoid most normal supernatural
hunter tricks and traps. Because Atlanteans encounter a lot of
hunters of all types if their heritage is known by people, they
will often not only learn through books and training, but most
end up having to fight to survive against all manners of
creatures. Usually, hunters will hunt down Atlanteans, and even
many other supernaturals may hunt down Atlanteans to remove them
as threats. Because of this, Atlanteans learn quickly about how
to avoid, counter and kill almost any manner of supernatural
hunters. Most supernatural hunters have to be very creative
about how they lure out Atlanteans, because of the fact that
Atlanteans specifically stay on guard against supernatural
hunter strategies and traps.
- Presence Suppression/Crowd Blending: Most Atlanteans learn how
to suppress their presence or disguise themselves, and learn how
to blend into crowds. This is easy for Atlantis and Xebel
Atlanteans since they look human, though some (like the Brine
and the Fishermen) may develop other ways to avoid human
attention such as using technology to hide themselves, so they
never draw any attention from the people around them. Many
Atlanteans will do this when they need to blend in among humans,
as this is mostly how many Atlanteans survive. Because most
human cities have masses of people that get around constantly,
most Atlanteans utilize this to make themselves hard to track,
usually making it where their presence is overshadowed by
everyone else. Even werewolves who track Atlanteans may have
trouble finding Atlanteans who are good enough at using this
trick, as some use the masses of crowds to disguise their scent
from anyone who is trying to track them. They also keep their
presences suppressed so vampires cannot sense them easily with
their enhanced presence senses, since many vampires have a
strong third eye that can sense their presence if they're not
careful (as vampires have more ability to sense presences using
their third eye than most creatures). Most Atlanteans can even
use this to hide out in nature, assuming they aren't hiding in
another supernatural's territory, where they use this to keep
their presence in the world as suppressed as possible. For
Aquaman, he isn't really much for blending into crowds anymore
since he's known as the King of Atlantis, but he does typically
try to blend in when in the human world just so that he can
avoid problems.
- Murderous Intent Sense: This lets those with this sense when
an attack is coming. This is a skill warriors get by fighting
constantly for many years, learning how to sense someone's
murderous intent usually through encountering it first-hand.
This lets the user read their environment as well as the spirits
of people around them in order to see what attacks might be
coming their way by reading an opponent's body language and the
"sense" of people around them. This gives them a passive sense
of reading people who might try to hurt them, as they can sense
when someone is ready to attack. Some can sense this literally,
but most sense it in an instinctive way once their instincts
have been developed through constant fighting and battles. This
gives the user time to dodge or avoid an attack, and to some
extent, helps the person predict what opponents will do in a
fight. For example, by reading an opponent's body language, such
as how they move or how tense they might be, a user of this can
read opponents. However, this sense is not perfect, and some
opponents can't be read if they have similar skills or can
disguise their murderous intent or they learn skills that can
trick people with this sense. This sense is usually pretty
reliable unless one can suppress their murderous intent, and is
usually instinctive among people who have seen a lot of battle
and those that have fought for their lives multiple times. The
only real way to develop this is experience, as no amount of
training can truly grasp how this sense truly works.
Passive Abilities:
- Aquatic/Land Combat Talent Adaptability: As a hybrid of human
and Atlantean, Aquaman is very skilled at both land combat and
water combat, in which he has a natural adaptability to combat
that he can use as a hybrid. With his training, combined with
his natural abilities he gains as a hybrid, Aquaman is a very
adaptable warrior, in which he can adapt to almost any
environment. From his Atlantean near immunity to cold, to his
resistance to heat, and even his Atlantean resistance to
pressure means that Aquaman is able to fight in a lot of
conditions that would not be possible for most opponents. And
thanks to being a hybrid, he is able to fight on land almost as
easily as in the sea, due to him being trained both on land and
in the sea. Aquaman is able to fight opponents on almost any
terrain, and is highly able to adapt to almost any condition.
This also applies to Aquaman being an intelligent fighter, as he
is intelligent enough to adapt to most fighting styles, in which
he can use his intelligence to analyze and come up with ways to
counter many fighting styles since he tends to be a pretty
creative person when it comes to solving problems despite how
simple he seems at times. The only real problem with this is
that extreme heat can dehydrate him, and is still a condition he
sometimes has trouble with, so fighting in really hot
environments without water is still quite difficult.
- Atlantean Superhuman Reflexes and Intelligence: Even though
Aquaman isn't at the levels of some more high level martial
artists and supernaturals, his reflexes and intelligence are
still very high for most beings. In terms of his reflexes, he is
on par with those that can block and catch bullets, and has been
known to have reflexes to even catch blades and grenade launcher
shots without a problem. Thanks in part to his Atlantean
heritage, and his training with his mentor, Nuidis Vulko,
Aquaman is a very skilled opponent that can react very quickly.
While no means a martial arts master or having the faster
reflexes of every fight, Aquaman is still extremely skilled. In
terms of his intelligence, Aquaman is the type of person who
doesn't just train his body, but trains his mind as well. With
his father's teaching him, as well as his mentor, Aquaman not
only has higher intelligence than that of average humans, but
also seems to have a taste for classic literature, as he will
sometimes quote literature, such as times he has quoted works of
Shakespeare and poems of Jules Verne. Though Aquaman seems
brutish most of the time, and solves most of his problems head
on, he is smarter than often appears. While not on par with
certain enhanced intelligence, Aquaman is still extremely smart,
and usually can be very creative when it comes to solving
problems, such as a time he faked his death and hid inside a
whale.
- Waterbearer and Neptune Champion Ability: Ancient Magic
Connection/Magic Resistance: When Aquaman was given the
Waterbearer hand, and combined with the Trident of Neptune,
Aquaman's magical potential was awakened, in which he can use
some magic abilities like amplification magic, healing and
purification magic, and some attack magic. While no means a
sorcerer or high level mage, he is able to use some basic magic,
thanks to his potential being awakened. This ability is
amplified by both the Trident of Neptune and by his Waterbearer
hand. However, this also grants him another ability, in which
Aquaman is highly resistant to magic. For the most part, magic
does highly reduced magic to Aquaman, in which he can tank magic
attacks without taking extra damage. For the most part, this
applies to most standard types of magic from neutral magic to
holy and dark magic, to even spirit or chi based magic. The only
real magic he doesn't have any resistance to are the more
chaotic forms of magic, and forms of magic from the Dark
Multiverse, which is something he has never been exposed to.
This means that most forms of magic are not very useful on
Aquaman, and while he can still be hurt by magic, he takes
highly reduced damage from magic attacks. In terms of magic
knowledge, Aquaman is far from the most knowledgeable magic user
in the world, but his ability to use magic can grow and develop
has he learns more about magic, something he's learned a little
bit about on the surface world.
- Waterbearer Hand Magic Negation: This is one of the powers of
the Waterbearer hand, in which this hand is able to negate magic
entirely through touch. Through touch, the hand negates all
magic, whether it be chi magic, mana magic, dark magic, or
otherwise. Using this, magic attacks are next to unusable
against Aquaman as he can negate almost any magic including
magics he might not have resistance to thanks to the properties
of this hand. When using this, he needs only touch a magic
attack to dispel the magic, in which he can use the properties
of the Waterbearer hand's water to also negate magic. This means
that Aquaman could turn his hand into a shield of water that
negates magic, he could punch through a magical barrier with
this hand or he could grab a magic weapon to negate it's power
while he's in physical contact with it. This can be used quite
creatively depending on the situation, especially when combined
with other abilities the Waterbearer hand possesses (like
shapeshifting his hand using water manipulation). This power
comes from the Waterbearer hand, in which the ancient magic in
it allows the hand to negate almost all forms of magic due to
the fact that some of the biggest enemies that the Secret Sea
has are magic based enemies. As such, this ability is very
useful, as it requires only the Waterbearer hand to make contact
with a magical attack. However, this is only usable with his
waterbearer hand, in which his Waterbearer hand is the only part
of him that can negate magic (or rather, the water in the
Waterbearer hand). It is also worth noting that this can also
hinder ally magic as well, as Aquaman will have to be careful
not to interrupt an ally's spell by accidentally touching it
with his waterbearer hand, or even interrupt one of his own
spells. Since this is a passive power, it is always active, and
doesn't require energy to maintain, but the major problem is
that because it's always on, it can affect allies as well since
Aquaman cannot turn off this effect.
- Waterbearer Hand Molecular Composition and Form Manipulation:
This lets Aquaman manipulate his hand's composition, able to
make it liquid like in nature, or change the form of his hand to
do different things. He is able to control his hand's
composition and form at will, depending on what he needs to do.
He can also change the composition of it, such as forming it
into an ice hand that can freeze people through touch, or he can
also change it into a near diamond-level hand by compressing the
hand's water molecules. In addition to changing the hand's
composition, he can change the form, in which he can modify the
hand into many different forms. For example, he could form his
hand into a shield and use the composition to freeze and form a
solid defensive shield out of the water, or he could harden it
so that his punches do more damage on impact. Depending on how
creative Aquaman is with this technique, he can use this in a
variety of ways, in which this hand will often morph to fit what
he wants to do. Usually, he will either create a shield of water
from his hand, or he will create weapons from his hand like
forming his hand into a water (or freeze it into an ice) blade.
Among his more used methods, Aquaman forms his hand into a
harpoon which can be fired with a pressurized water shot to
spear opponents, or he can use the water like a rope to fire a
harpoon at a surface and then grapple to it. This ability is
quite useful, and is limited by Aquaman's knowledge and
creativity when it comes to manipulating water. Depending on the
form, one can still counter his waterbearer hand like one would
guess, as it is still water (or ice depending on the situation).
For Aquaman, he has a number of ways to use this, but he mostly
uses this in standard ways that many will often know to dodge or
avoid his attacks.
- Knowledge Training: Multilingualism: Most Atlanteans, like
many supernaturals, know a great many languages used by people
on earth thanks to their studies of humanity over the years
they've been alive. Typically, most Atlanteans know multiple
languages, including ancient and forgotten languages depending
on knowledge the Atlanteans preserved from before they were sent
to the bottom of the ocean. The most common one is whatever
language they learn to speak first, with this mostly being
dependent on where they spend their time growing up and what
their mentors decide to teach them. However, Atlanteans are also
able to pick up other languages, in which their training in
languages often allows them to instinctively pick up words in
other languages thanks to their training. However, they are not
limited to one or two languages, as they can speak almost any
modern language with the right training and research, such as
English, French, Spanish, and many other languages. Most usually
learn a few languages, including languages important to their
underwater pantheons (Like speaking Greek for interacting with
Poseidon's territory or speaking Latin for the Roman pantheon).
For different Atlanteans, some can learn even more languages,
depending on how long they've been alive, and some older
Atlanteans may even know more languages that others might not
even think about (such as some that might know dead languages
like Biblical Hebrew). For Aquaman, he is versed in most common
languages with his primary being English. However he is also
versed in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese
and even Japanese. He also knows a few other languages he's
picked up in his time traveling the seas, so Aquaman typically
knows most major languages spoken in the world, but also he
speaks and is able to understand some ancient languages like
Latin and Biblical Hebrew due to his training with his mentor
which taught him some ancient languages.
- Supernatural Telepathy: This ability lets a supernatural
communicate telepathically with anyone they can connect to.
Typically this power uses their supernatural power, in which
they use it to tune to a person if they know where they are in
order to communicate with them. This lets them communicate with
other people without having to speak, with them being able to
share thoughts directly with others. However, usually the
supernatural has to know where the person is to use this basic
telepathy since they have to know where to send their thoughts
and communication. However, this doesn't apply to those who
establish permanent connections, such as connecting to other
family members (though some supernaturals typically don't have
the ability to create connections like this unless they have the
abilities of other races). This lets supernaturals not only
communicate with those they have a permanent connect with, but
can also tell them where they are at any time should they
require to find them or need to be summoned to them (which some
races have the ability to do). Those who are set up with
permanent connections have to accept the connection, and even
then, they can sever it if they choose to. Thanks to his
telepathy using the Clear, Aquaman has telepathy he can use just
like most supernaturals. He doesn't really use this too often,
but it is an ability that he does have. He also doesn't have any
permanent mental connections currently.
- Godly Blessing Enhanced Senses/Focus Sense: Partially thanks
to his Atlantean physiology and a power granted by his godly
blessings, Aquaman has highly enhanced senses, with all of his
senses being enhanced. For the most part, this usually depends
on the Atlantean type, but for Aquaman, he has basic enhanced
senses beyond that of normal creatures due to him being a
high-born Atlantis Atlantean. All of his senses are enhanced,
with him being able to see, hear and smell with highly enhanced
ability (not to mention his underwater sonar abilities).
However, he can also focus his senses elsewhere, thanks to his
godly blessing which grants him godly sight, and his ability to
share his senses through the Clear to other parts of the sea
using sea life. He is able to focus on specific areas and use
his senses in other places, which is an advanced version of
godly sight which deities use to process information in other
locations by sending their senses there. Thanks to this, Aquaman
can keep track of what's going on and doesn't have to be in a
location if he can process his senses in another location.
Though this is a double edged sword, as this requires taking his
attention away from what he's doing, so he can be attacked while
using this if he's not careful. This is mostly for just trying
to process things from other locations, not really being too
useful in battle except to more easily track opponents that
might not be in one's area. This also requires Aquaman to know
where he wants to send his senses, as he can only look in places
where he focuses specifically. This means that he cannot use
this to just track anyone flawlessly, as he has to know where
they are before he can track someone with this ability. Of
course, just like anyone with enhanced senses, these senses can
be taken advantage of, such as using flashbangs with increased
blinding effects thanks to enhanced vision.
- Atlantean Darkvision: Because Atlanteans have evolved at the
bottom of the ocean where the light doesn't reach, all
variations of Atlanteans can see in the dark, due to them having
evolved to live at the bottom of the ocean. Because of this,
they are able to see just as easily in the dark as in the light,
and they are able to see when most creatures cannot. However,
this sight doesn't just work underwater, but also works in water
and in fog, where their vision is not hindered by things like
water molecules. Thanks to this vision, Atlanteans can see just
as well as any other supernatural with dark vision (even
rivaling death wraith darkvision). This also means that using
darkness based attacks to cover the area in darkness doesn't
work on Atlanteans, as they are able to see in the dark and can
see through darkness. This is a passive skill that is always
active, in which Atlantean eyes automatically adjust to the dark
as they need to, where they are able to adapt to the dark far
more easily than humans (as humans have to let their eyes adjust
to the dark and even then they can only see in the dark when
there's some form of light). Even in total blackness, Atlanteans
are able to see even without a light source. Of course, while
Atlanteans may have dark vision, the major weakness to this is
intense light, as going from intense darkness to intense light
can overwhelm them just like most beings. Just as humans are
blinded by light when their eyes are adjusted to dark, so too
are Atlanteans blinded by light when they are using dark vision
and their eyes don't have time to switch to normal vision due to
sudden changes in light. This means that things like flashbangs
can blind them far more easily than most people.
- Unique Atlantean Trait: Farsight: This is a special enhanced
vision that Aquaman has as part of his hybrid physiology, which
is thanks to him being a high level Atlantean mixed with human.
No one knows how he gained this particular trait, but it is
possible this also comes from his Neptune/Poseidon godly
blessings as well. This particular skill gives him other special
sights, such as x-ray vision, thermal vision, night-vision, and
other visions allowing him to tune to see specific things. X-Ray
mostly uses x-rays to see through most objects, in which it can
allow Aquaman to see through physical objects, and see through
people down to the bones when used properly. Thermal vision
allows Aquaman to see things in temperature based vision, where
cold things will appear darker and hot things will appear yellow
to red depending on the heat of the object or person.
Night-vision allows Aquaman to see in the dark, using special
vision to see through darkness (which is useless to Aquaman
thanks to his Atlantean darkvision). These are specific sight
abilities that Aquaman can switch to at will, in which they only
require conscious thought to activate, and then become passive
sight skills that stay active until he changes his vision to
another type of vision. It is worth noting that these visions
cannot be used over top one another, and only one can be used at
any one time. This means that Aquaman has to change from one to
another in order to change visions overall. And due to the
visions all being different, each one can be overwhelmed by
different stimuli, as each vision can be affected by certain
things, such as night vision can be blinding when extreme light
is introduced.
- Atlantean Emotional/Mind State Control: Though not as advanced
in this control as some others, Atlanteans have developed their
own ways to control their minds and prevent others from using
them. The biggest reason that this was necessary was due to the
ancient war where the Atlanteans sought counters to the
Anti-life equation sought by ancient enemies. Because of this,
Atlanteans specifically sought to train their minds so that they
wouldn't be able to be broken. This led to them training their
minds and learning to resist almost any form of mind
manipulation, in which they are able to resist things like
psychic manipulation and certain skills that might try to
control their minds. While not able to completely overpower
psychics and certain abilities, the Atlanteans are very
strong-willed, and able to overcome most forms of control by
focusing their strong wills and proper control of the mind. For
the most part, the Atlanteans all use this, even though most
don't do things like teach control of emotions or controlling
their own minds like most who would have techniques like this.
However, this is still a great technique to help Atlanteans
focus their minds, and a great defense against attacks on the
mind. This type of control is also used to resist things like
dark spirits, or other creatures that might try to infect the
minds of others, as Atlanteans know how dangerous certain
creatures like dark spirits are (as they have had encounters
with them before they were cast to the bottom of the sea.
Overall, the main danger to this is certain emotional states
will weaken this control and focus, such as sadness and grief
will leave the mind vulnerable, and without proper focus and
proper technique, this training doesn't really work that well.
- Atlantean Enhanced Physiology and Combat Trained Physical
Stats: One might be able to guess that Atlanteans are extremely
tough. In terms of Aquaman, he is no exception and he is even
stronger than almost any other Atlantean due to his mixed
human/Atlantean heritage. Overall, Aquaman's physical stats are
all enhanced far beyond what most think possible among
creatures, as his strength, speed, agility, defense, durability,
stamina are all at incredible levels due to his Atlantean
physiology, and his combat training with his mentor enhancing
his stats to their fullest. In terms of strength, Aquaman has
picked up a cruise liner ship, and can kick large stone columns
aside easily. He can also break apart metal objects, such as
ripping metal doors off their hinges, and is strong enough to
punch holes through opponents. In terms of speed, Aquaman is
extremely fast, in which he can move at speed faster than
bullets (as he is comparable to allies who were able to out
maneuver bullets). His agility is also much higher than normal,
as unlike most people with high strength and defense, Aquaman is
also very agile and doesn't lose any mobility due to the
pressures he deals with at the bottom of the ocean. In terms of
defense and durability, these are two of an Atlantean's most
valuable trains, as they are extremely tough and hard to damage,
and even when they are damaged they are able to survive mortal
wounds longer than most other creatures. In Aquaman's case, he
is strong enough that he can drop from a plane and land on solid
ground without any problems, and he was able to recover from
serious injuries in a few hours (with proper treatment).
Overall, Aquaman is one of the tougher opponents out there, and
very difficult to damage thanks to his Atlantean physiology and
combat training. Some have even called him the "Underwater
Superman" in some circles.
Transformations:
- None
Weaknesses:
- All Atlanteans are weak specifically to dehydration. It
doesn't matter what type of Atlantean, but all are vulnerable to
dehydration due to the fact that they are creatures of the
water. Their bodies must absorb water in some form, or they will
weaken severely. Depending on whether they are low born or high
born Atlanteans, this determines roughly about how long
Atlanteans can go without water. Even human/Atlantean hybrids
require water, and without it, they will get dehydrated.
Essentially this turns them into fish out of water, where once
they pass a certain point without water, they will lose stamina
and durability until they eventually die of dehydration. Some
can counter this, such as the Xebel Atlanteans who can use water
manipulation to turn moisture into water, but overall, this is
an Atlantean's biggest weakness, and one that can be taken
advantage of. Specifically, fire type opponents can dry out an
area and use the heat to more easily dehydrate an Atlantean.
While Atlanteans are strong, their stamina and durability become
less than good when they are without water long enough. And
while one might think they can absorb moisture in the air, they
cannot absorb moisture in gas form, as it has to be liquid form
water. However, Atlanteans can drink water or absorb it through
their skin (as long as the water get into their bodies somehow).
For Aquaman, he does have his Waterbearer hand to generate more
water, and he has his water manipulation, but even he is not
immune to this major weakness, and must absorb water.
- Atlanteans, while skilled fighters, suffer a loss of speed and
strength when out of the ocean, as their skills are designed for
the ocean. When on land, they are not able to utilize their full
strength and speed, in which they are often comparable to
supernatural strengths and speeds instead of the nearly
unrivaled skills they possess underwater. While some like
Atlantean/human hybrids can handle fighting on land, even they
suffer a slight loss of stats when on land. Even high born
Atlanteans have this particular fault, in which they will still
suffer a lost of certain abilities on land (as some Atlanteans
have the ability to break the sound barrier in swimming speeds,
but cannot do so running on land). Because of the difference in
environment, most Atlanteans are more suited to the sea. Some
are specifically designed for certain environments as well, and
outside of those environments, they will not be able to fight at
their full strength. For example, the Brine Atlanteans must
fight in heated areas in order to utilize their full ability as
the heat keeps them relaxed and agile whereas cold temperatures
will sometimes cause them to get stiff and be unable to move
effectively. When it comes to the Fishermen Atlanteans, they are
specifically suited to aquatic environments and cannot move very
effectively on land as their limbs are more like that of fish
than humans due to them evolving differently from the Atlantis
and Xebel Atlanteans. Overall, while there are varying degrees
of difficulty of fighting on land, Atlanteans as a whole always
have slightly less ability to fight on land than in water where
they can use their full capabilities. Even Atlantean/human
hybrids have this issue, as their Atlantean physiology still
shines through in this regard.
- While Atlanteans seem nearly indestructible by most human
methods, strong enough attacks can still hurt them, and they can
be killed since most of them don't possess supernatural
regeneration (as their healing is just faster than normal). If
one is not strong enough there are still ways to hurt them. For
example, lightning works just as well on them as it does on
other beings, with lightning being a way to hurt even
Atlanteans. Lightning also has an added bonus of dehydrating an
Atlantean, as lightning has the properties of dispelling water
into oxygen and hydrogen through electrolysis. In addition,
certain attack wave abilities that pass through solid matter
rather than trying to impact it (such as attack wave powers like
Maria Blackbeard's Gura Gura fruit) are also quite effective as
they tend to bypass the nearly indestructible skin of an
Atlantean. However, technology of the Atlanteans and weapons of
the Atlanteans are specifically designed to fight and kill
Atlanteans, with each Atlantean being slightly different. For
example, the Brine are much harder to damage due to their
crustacean-like exterior, but Atlanteans have energy based
weapons that can still kill them, or Atlantean strength can
allow them to stab them with their weapons. Overall, there are
still many things that can hurt or kill an Atlantean, as long as
it is a strong enough weapon or power. Among other weapons that
can hurt Atlanteans are vibranium and adamantium blades (as they
are specifically made to be nearly indestructible), and blades
that vibrate enough to slice the bonds between atoms are also
effective.
- Depending on the sights Aquaman has, he can suffer being
overwhelmed by different sights if certain things are used
against him. The biggest example is his dark vision and night
vision skills can be overwhelmed by extreme light, in which
extreme light suddenly being introduced before the vision has a
chance to change can temporarily blind Aquaman. However, it
isn't just his farsight that can be overwhelmed, as his other
senses can be overwhelmed as well. For example, when in water,
certain frequencies may cause him pain to hear, which he can
hear far more efficiently in the water than on land. When
fighting Aquaman in his own environment, using certain sound
frequencies is usually one of the best ways to give one an
advantage (as long as they are not vulnerable to the same kinds
of sound). When on land, his enhanced hearing is also able to be
taken advantage of by certain sounds, as his hearing can be used
against him. Since Aquaman is able to hear things like police
sirens from miles away, one can imagine just how sensitive his
hearing can be at times. For the most part, it's his sight and
hearing that are enhanced, with his smell not being much more
enhanced than humans, so enhanced smell is not one that someone
can take advantage of, but it also means that Aquaman doesn't
have advantages when it comes to sense of smell.
- The Waterbearer hand is only in Aquaman's hands as long as he
does his job protecting the Secret Sea. If he were to allow
enemies to attack the Secret Sea or the Secret Sea were to be
lost because of his inaction, the Lady of the Lake could take
away his Waterbearer hand and give the title to another. While
Aquaman is not the type to try and ignore his responsibility
anymore (as he typically avoided responsibility before becoming
king of Atlantis), he could fail to protect the Secret Sea if he
is overwhelmed by enemies of Atlantis while the Secret Sea is in
danger. Depending on how the battles go, it is possible that he
could be forced to choose between saving the Secret Sea and
saving Atlantis. When it comes to certain enemies, they could
use this to their advantage, as Aquaman would have difficulty
fighting two battles at once. And one wouldn't even have to do
that, as they could just convince the Lady of the Lake they'd do
a better job than Aquaman, or convince the Lady of the Lake that
Aquaman isn't doing is job, then it's possible the Lady of the
Lake could be convinced to take the Waterbearer hand and title
from Aquaman. Of course, this power could also be taken away
from him if the Secret Sea is lost or destroyed by an enemy, as
without it, the Waterbearer title and hand would cease to be if
the Secret Sea is lost or destroyed. If Aquaman loses his title
and Waterbearer hand, then he would likely have to get a
replacement hand like his old harpoon hand he used to have.
- When it comes to water manipulation, water manipulation is
countered a few different ways. The most common way some people
know is to use electricity, in which running an electrical
current through water will separate it back into hydrogen and
oxygen through a process called electrolysis. Lightning is
usually used as the main counter to water in any form (including
ice as lightning can work on ice). And since water conducts
electricity well (unless it's pure water, in which pure water
without any other minerals is a perfect insulator), usually
lightning can run through water more easily. The only way to
counter this weakness is to short out lightning with water
attacks, which many water users know how to do, so it is worth
noting that lightning is just as vulnerable to water
manipulation as water is to lightning manipulation. Among other
ways to counter water manipulation include using wind, in which
wind can be used creatively to counter wind attacks (Such as a
strong enough pressurized shockwave could be used to counter a
pressurized water blast). Those that know how to manipulate wind
at a molecular level can also learn to separate water back into
hydrogen and oxygen. Other creative ways people have countered
water include fire users evaporating water using extreme heat
(much more than normal fire), and earth users using things like
sand or dirt to absorb water and become mud. Depending on how
creative one is, there are plenty of ways to use elements to
counter one another, as almost any element can be used to
counter another if one is creative enough. However, water is not
just countered by elementals, as energy users or other
supernatural powers can also be used to counter water
manipulation, such as using energy shields to block attacks.
Typically, there are plenty of ways to block or counter water
manipulation as long as one knows the properties of water and
don't underestimate the strength of the water attack (such as
underestimating the strength of a pressurized water blast).
Personality: Aquaman is an confident and pretty prideful person,
in which he is someone who takes a lot of pride in himself as
both a hybrid of human and Atlantean, and pride in himself as
the king of Atlantis and Champion of Neptune. Aquaman typically
is the the type of person that will easily make friends with
people as long as they are not his enemies, and he is typically
polite to people who are polite to him. Some might have trouble
making friends with him at first, but over time, he will usually
become more friendly as people get to know him. Aquaman
typically is someone who jokes a lot, and will make sarcastic
comments about just about anything. Aquaman typically will be a
pretty friendly person, but if one is his enemy, or one insults
him, Aquaman is the type who will not hesitate to push back
especially if someone insults Atlantis or his heritage. He is
not afraid to show people why he's the King of Atlantis, and
will take most challenges head on when it comes to people who
want to fight him. Aquaman is also a lot smarter than most
people realize, as many often see him as a brute who fights only
with his fists. However, Aquaman has proven that he is very
smart, as he can fight strategically (though doesn't always
compare to smarter opponents), and he is someone who often
quotes literature (as it is obvious that he is well educated and
remembers most of his education well).
As the King of Atlantis, Aquaman will do whatever it takes in
order protect Atlantis, which has forced him to do some somewhat
questionable things, such as one time he destroyed an oil rig
for polluting the ocean near Atlantis (though he made sure
everyone was off the rig before destroying it). Aquaman knows
that the surface world isn't as bad as many Atlanteans believe,
but he also knows just how bad the surface world is with things
like polluting the oceans. Because of this, Aquaman has tried to
get the surface world to be more careful with their pollution,
at one point even washing up the trash in the ocean on the shore
so it wouldn't be in the ocean anymore. Typically, Aquaman is a
lot more patient than previous Atlantean kings have been, but if
humans were to not fix their pollution problems, then Aquaman
may one day be forced to flood the surface world and take out
humanity. However, this is a path that Aquaman is trying to
avoid, as ever since he revealed Atlantis as a nation, the
nations have worked with Aquaman to try and clear up the oceans,
meaning that Aquaman hasn't had to do anything drastic so far
aside from a few shows to show the surface world just how bad
the oceans are. When he's king of Atlantis, he can be a
different person, in which he acts more in the benefit for
Atlantis. However, his persona as a king is also something that
comes into play when it comes to his job protecting the Secret
Sea, as he will also do whatever he can to protect it after
being given the responsibility by the Lady of the Lake. He will
not hesitate to take out threats to the world, Atlantis, and/or
the Secret Sea, as he does whatever he can to protect the whole
world, not just Atlantis, but also fights to protect the surface
world as well since he is just as human as he is Atlantean.
In battle, Aquaman is the type of person that prefers taking
challenges head on. He doesn't usually like to deal with
complicated strategy, and prefers to just fight opponents rather
than win by using tricks. Typically, Aquaman uses his Atlantean
hardened body to tank attacks, as he is usually pretty confident
in his physical abilities. However, Aquaman, as mentioned, is
actually smarter than most people think, and is able to fight
strategically when he needs to, usually when power alone isn't
enough. For example, he learned to use pressurized water blasts
using water manipulation by watching Maria Blackbeard in battle,
and learned to start focusing the energy waves of his trident
similar to Maria's Gura Gura devil fruit power. Aquaman often
seems like the fool, but with his education by his father, and
by his mentor, Aquaman is quite a smart person, even if he
doesn't show it. Aquaman is also someone, in battle, who will
not hesitate to beat enemies, but usually avoids killing enemies
if he can help it. Ever since his first encounter with the man
who would become known as Black Manta, he has tried to avoid
killing and leaving even his enemies to die, as he understands
that he is less likely to make enemies if he shows mercy to his
opponents. However, this mercy can run out if they continue to
threaten him, or continue to be threats to Atlantis or the
Secret Sea. While he is a very benevolent fighter, he will kill
if he has to in order to prevent threats from continuing to
threaten the world.
Bio: Arthur Curry is the son of Atlantis Queen Atlanna, and
human Thomas Curry. When his mother was on the run from Atlantis
running from an arranged marriage, she met Thomas Curry. After
the two fell in love, Atlanna had Arthur, who was a hybrid of
Atlantean and human. However, after Atlantis would attack and
try to bring Atlanna back to Atlantis to marry King Orvax,
Atlanna would eventually choose to go back to Atlantis in order
to protect Arthur and his father. During his childhood, he would
be raised by his father, and educated in the ways of the surface
world, while his mentor, Nuidis Vulko, would educate him on the
ways of Atlanteans, and teach him about his Atlantean
physiology. In addition, Vulko would also train Arthur in
combat, in which Arthur would learn to fight and learn to wield
a trident until the day he gained his mother's trident. When he
got to be an adult, he avoided going back to Atlantis, as he
tried to avoid taking his place as king. He would start fighting
pirates and enemies on the sea, using his abilities to battle
evil people, in which he would start fighting to protect the
surface world, soon becoming known as the Aquaman. There were a
lot of people who thought his only power was talking to fish,
but Arthur had quickly proven a lot of people wrong. After
becoming Aquaman, some even started calling him an underwater
"Superman" because of how strong he was and how most people
could never hurt him. Years of fighting on the seas, and helping
people, Arthur would become known as one of the world's heroes,
and a protector of the sea among the people.
However, this wouldn't last, as Arthur would eventually be
approached by his mentor Vulko, who urged Arthur to take his
place as king before his half brother, Orm, declared war on the
surface world. In order to combat Orm, Arthur would seek out the
trident of Neptune, in order to become the champion of Neptune
in order to take his place in Atlantis as king after Orm's
forces had tried to hunt down and kill Aquaman. After beating
his brother in battle and taking his rule of Atlantis, Aquaman
became the king of Atlantis. Over the years, he would unite the
Atlantean kingdoms, including even commanding the creatures of
the Trench who were seen as mindless creatures. After Aquaman
became king, he would start ruling Atlantis, while continuing
his quest to protect people in the living world. For years, he
would battle enemies, making new enemies and allies during his
time traveling the sea. His refusal to kill his brother, Orm
would come back to haunt him, as Orm would try to take over
Atlantis multiple times, with each time ending in Aquaman
beating Orm and imprisoning him again. During those battles, he
at one point lost his hand and had to replace it with a harpoon
hand that he used for years.
At some point during his reign though, he would be killed by his
brother, when his brother would finally get the better of him
with help from assassins. However, Aquaman would not go down
without taking Orm with him, as Orm and Aquaman both died that
day, leaving Atlantis without a king for a few years. Of course,
this wasn't the end of Aquaman's story, as he was one of the
people who would be brought back by the Black Lanterns, led by
the lord of the Black Lanterns, Nekron. Nekron would revive
Aquaman as one of his undead servants, using him to fight
enemies in the sea. However, Aquaman would be saved by his
friend, Raven Sparrow, who had help from Kindron Darkfire, the
Lord of Tartarus, who would restore Aquaman to life by removing
the power of death that bound him to the Black Lanterns.
Afterward, Aquaman would go back to Atlantis, taking his rule
again after being restored to life. Once Aquaman had brought
peace to his torn kingdom, who had fought for leadership after
both of the ones who were supposed to rule were dead, Aquaman
went back to protecting his kingdom and protecting the surface
world.
After being returned to life, he would eventually be approached
by Coventina, the Lady of the Lake, who offered Aquaman the
Waterbearer title and the Waterbearer hand in order to replace
his lost hand. However, this wasn't just to replace his hand, as
the Lady of the Lake sought to have Aquaman protect the Secret
Sea, the sea of life which was under attack by a few different
enemies. The most dangerous was an enemy known only as "The
Thirst", a dark reflection and opposite being to the Secret Sea.
Aquaman accepted the title and responsibility of protecting the
Secret Sea, and would go on to protect the Secret Sea from
enemies. During his time protecting Atlantis and fighting
pirates, he would even make an enemy out of Maria Blackbeard,
after finding out that Maria had inherited the Gura Gura devil
fruit that even Atlantis was worried could ruin the world if
used improperly. While Maria was a somewhat honorable person who
sought to make the world a better place, her ways of doing it
involved overthrowing the world government for killing her
grandfather and her mother. Aquaman would become a major rival
for Maria alongside Raven, as Aquaman was doing what he could to
remove Maria's Gura Gura fruit from being able to be used as
Aquaman saw it as a threat to the world.
These days, he often spends his days off drinking with friends
and family, in which he will drink with his father, and
sometimes drink with Raven Sparrow and her crew. Aquaman
continues doing his job protecting the surface world, Atlantis
and the Secret Sea, hunting down enemies and protecting as many
people as he can. He also tends to help out Raven Sparrow when
he can, since he is friends with Raven and her crew. When he
found out about Raven and Maria competing for Poseidon's
trident, he tried to get the trident himself, but was forbidden
by Neptune himself, who told him that he would not be allowed to
wield it, as it wasn't his destiny since he was already a
Champion of Neptune. Even though Aquaman wanted the trident to
further solidify his rule of the seas, he listened to Neptune,
and has done his best to stay out of Raven and Maria's war for
the trident. However, with the alternate Blackbeard also joining
the hunt for the Trident, Aquaman would try to help Raven with
her hunt by keeping Blackbeard away from Raven and Maria when
possible, as Neptune would come to Aquaman again and warn him
that Blackbeard could not be allowed to get Poseidon's trident,
since Blackbeard would not be someone who could be trusted to
rule the seas, since he is a servant of the Alternate Zeus.
