"Don't you worry? That your constant interference is hindering
them? They'll never get stronger if you continue to always come
       to their rescue."
Those words seemed to echo in Millia's mind as of late. Ever
since the return of Balor, she'd been focused on some of the
things that had happened in the past. Specifically, she was
remembering a specific conversation and battle that Kindron and
       Balor had long ago.
       Begin Flashback.
It had been during the fights with Balor's group, the Order of
the Black Moon, which Kindron and his friends didn't know yet
was trying to bring Malice back to life. This particular fight
happened near the Kingdom of Tara, before it was destroyed by
Malice's presence. A town called Bangor, in the country of
Wales, Kindron and Millia had arrived during an event which some
called the "Star Fall" in which crystals rained down on earth
which many thought the sky had started falling. Unknown to them,
the problem was actually a man who was planning the destruction
of Europe, and had been trying to destroy it with meteor showers
of crystals that he called forth using a ritual and a special
       altar.
The rest of Kindron's group was waiting in Tara, as Kindron had
gone to other towns in order to investigate the Star Fall.
Kindron and Millia were travelling together, as Millia usually
traveled with Kindron. Since Millia was still a kid, Kindron was
always trying to keep an eye on her as many people would try to
capture Millia so they could use her divine power for their own
ends, a lesson Kindron learned the heard way when Millia almost
died when Ruairi and Tarlach tried to use her to close the doors
to the realms of the gods (which failed for a number of reasons,
one of which being Kindron and Akule ruining the ritual and the
ritual summoning Malice by accident, which is a whole other
story). Kindron and Millia had been to a few towns, and this was
the last on a stop of towns that Tara had found affected by the
       Star Fall.
However, what awaited them there was something Kindron hadn't
predicted, as when he appeared, he appeared to find the town on
fire, and most of the inhabitants murdered. When he reached the
center of town, he saw Balor standing in front of him.
Balor: It's about time. I've been waiting for a while for you to
       appear.
Millia looks around, seeing all the people dead on the ground.
Some were alive, but many were sliced to pieces while some were
burned with hellfire to death. Millia looks at them with a look
of terror on her face. Millia: Oh my god... Who would do
something so horrible... She says to herself. It was the first
time Millia had seen such a scene, as she was used to enemies
that Kindron had beaten pretty quickly, and some of Kindron's
former enemies hadn't had goals of simply killing whoever they
could like Balor seemed to love to do. Millia was used to people
being cold and calculated, not sadistic and murderous.
Meanwhile, Kindron looked to Balor with a cold look. It wasn't a
look of anger, but more of an emotionless look as Kindron knew
what was coming next. Balor: I got bored waiting for you to show
up... I actually held back, mostly... He says looking around.
You might be able to save most of them... At least the ones I
didn't burn to death with Hellfire or cut into pieces. He says
       with a chuckle to himself.
Kindron looks to Millia. Kindron: Millia... I want you to find a
       place to hide.
Millia: I can help you fight, Kindron! I've gotten stronger! She
says, taking out her own sword she was using at the time, which
was a kodachi that Kindron had armed her with that was better
for someone of her short stature.
Kindron: Balor is not an enemy you're ready to fight, Millia. Do
as I say and hide. He says sternly. Millia reluctantly goes and
finds a place nearby to hide behind one of the buildings,
watching Kindron as he took his sword out. Though Millia wanted
to help Kindron fight, she knew Kindron was right, as Millia
knew that Balor was way out of her league, even if she was fully
trained. At this time, his sword was a sword made from his own
power of purifying darkness, and hadn't yet been blessed with
Morrighan's power so it was only using his normal purifying
       darkness and not godly darkness.
Kindron starts walking toward Balor, readying his sword while
Balor was doing the same, both approaching each other carefully.
This was the third time they had fought over the last few years
since they met. The last time, Balor had used his eye of death
on Kindron, but this time, Balor wasn't opening with it,
probably knowing that Kindron would outlast how long Balor could
       use it.
The battle starts when they get within attack range, and the two
attack each other. With Balor's larger demonic sword which was a
two-handed weapon vs Kindron's darkness sword which was a
katana, Balor had the advantage in strength, but Kindron had the
advantage in speed. However, the two were mostly equal as they
both move at incredible speeds, slashing each other and both
blocking and defending as they try to overcome each other.
All Millia could see were flashes of light as Kindron and Balor
moved almost too fast for her to keep up with. However, it was
at least an improvement since the last time she saw Kindron
fight Balor (which was the first time they fought), she could
even follow Balor and Kindron's movements. Kindron and Balor
were moving so fast that they were almost like blurs, and all
Millia could hear was the sounds of their blades constantly
hitting each other as they were no longer saying anything to
each other. Kindron and Balor were not just fast though, but
also powerful as the two's swords clashing together started
creating shockwaves that started to damage the buildings nearby
(or what was left of them.
The two don't seem to land any hits on each other for a while,
as the two start focusing their flames and trying to blast each
other with flames. Balor uses his hellfire in his sword while
Kindron counters with his black flames of death.
However, the real moment of the battle came when Kindron jumped
back, and fired a blast of darkness spears from his aura at
Balor, who jumped to the side. Balor then fires demonic energy
spears at Kindron, and Kindron also dodges. The two start trying
to blast each other with energy, with Balor taking a few hits
from Kindron's aura and Kindron taking a few hits from Balor's
demonic energy. The two both had their own regeneration (Kindron
had his Darkfire regeneration and Balor had his demonic
regeneration). The two go and attack each other again, with
Balor activating his Redoubled Offensive skill where he focuses
his attack into more condensed scythe-like slashes, and goes
after Kindron. Kindron counters with his own darkness based art,
the Darkness Aura blade which he focused his darkness aura into
his sword to enhance it's cutting efficiency.
The two slice away at each other with the their skills, though
Balor's still had somewhat of an advantage as Kindron was
slashed across the chest due to the strength advantage that
Balor had (which the technique had also given him a slight speed
advantage as well due to the lesser weight of his attacks with
       his skill active.
Kindron jumps back as he regenerates, but Balor anticipates
Kindron's move and fires what appear to be a wave of demonic
energy slashes with his sword at Kindron which many slice
through him. Luckily, Kindron absorbed some of the damage with
his darkness aura, and only the waves that cut through his aura
did any real damage to him. But the attacks were enough to cause
Kindron enough damage that he needed a moment to regenerate the
damage. As he lands, he falls to one knee, as Balor moves in to
       attack.
Balor brings his sword to an attack stance, but is caught off
guard as Kindron activates his own newest skill, Dark Arm Blade
(which was a new skill for Kindron at the time). Kindron: Dark
Arm Blade! He says as the darkness aura around his arm forms a
blade around his arm, and extends, spearing Balor through the
heart. Kindron had used the unpredictability of his new
technique (as Balor didn't know about the technique yet) to try
       and catch Balor off guard.
Balor drops his sword, and looks down in surprise at the blade
that had pierced through his heart. As Kindron looks at him with
a confident smile, he pulls the darkness energy back, causing
the blood to gush forth from Balor's wound, as Balor fell to his
       knees.
Kindron gets up and walks over holding his sword in one hand and
having his dark arm blade around his other hand.
Balor smiles and looks up, letting his hair move to the side and
firing a blast of demonic energy from his Evil Eye, releasing a
wave of demonic power on Kindron. Kindron was caught off guard,
and struggles to not be overcome by the demonic power released
from Balor's eye as he strengthens his aura and throws his sword
at Balor, spearing his eye. Kindron then calls the sword back
using his connection to the sword, and gets back up regaining
       his composure.
Balor laughs, as he gets up. Kindron was surprised, seeing that
Balor had not only been stabbed through the heart, and now the
eye, but wasn't dead. It was obvious that Balor couldn't fight,
since he had two fatal injuries, and the injuries weren't
regenerating thanks to Kindron's darkness energy of his dark arm
blade being corruptive with its darkness it leaves behind to
negate regeneration of the wound, as the darkness energy in the
wound was preventing Balor's regeneration from fixing the wound.
Balor: Good... You are the one... The one who will defeat me. He
says with a laugh. He uses another of his techniques, Vital
Surge, which restores him completely back to full health. He
grabs his sword and uses it to help himself up.
Kindron: A recovery skill... That's certainly a nuisance... He
       says with a sigh.
Balor: It's the first time I've ever had to use this skill since
my fight with my grandson long ago. He says as he stands back
       up, back to full power.
       Kindron: A useful skill.
Balor: I noticed you gave up that energy I gave you... I thought
it would make you too weak to fight... But it was the opposite.
He says with a smile. You actually made your own techniques to
fight mine. I couldn't be more proud of a fellow warrior! He
       says with a laugh.
Kindron just looks at him with a cold glare. Kindron: What was
your purpose here? Just to slaughter these people?! He says to
       Balor.
Balor: I'm surprised you haven't figured me out yet... He says
to Kindron. I'm not exactly trying to hide my motivations... I
only care about one thing. I want to fight someone who can truly
compete with me! And you've proven that you could be the one who
finally finishes me. I just killed these people to provoke you
into fighting me, Mr. Hero. He says with a sadistic chuckle.
Kindron: And you had to kill the entire town to accomplish that?
       He says coldly.
Balor chuckles to himself. Balor: You're too soft... But what
should I expect from you? Of course... I can understand why.
You're the "hero", right? The one who will save these people. He
says, putting a scornful emphasis on the word "hero" that was
plain to see that he despised the thought of what Kindron was
compared to him. His expression then changes to a more serious,
almost hateful expression. How long are you going to carry the
weight of the world on your shoulders?
Kindron: And just what would you know about "the weight of the
world"? I don't expect you to understand anything. He says with
       a sigh.
Balor: I'm the only that does understand though... That's what
you fail to realize. He says in response to Kindron. I never
watned to be king of the fomors... It just sort of happened
because no one could defeat me. They only saw me in one of three
ways. With curiosity, fear or awe. When I led them, it didn't
take long... They relied on me, and became dependent on my power
to protect them. They became useless, and lost their will to
fight. He then smiles again. You know what that's like don't
       you?
Kindron: If you were a better warrior... You could inspire them
to be better. He says simply to Balor.
Balor: Of course... He says, not really arguing that particular
point. But you know I'm right... How many times has that queen
of Tara begged you for help? How many times have the goddesses
asked you to solve their problems? Whenever they're in danger,
they don't try to stop it themselves. They call you because they
know you'll come running. He says scornfully. What do you think
would happen if you didn't help them? And how long do you think
       they'll last when you're gone?
Kindron: They will get stronger... They only need someone to
help show them the right way. He says to Balor.
Balor chuckles to himself. But are you truly helping them by
       solving their problems for them?
Kindron stays silent for a moment, not sure what to say. It was
obvious by the look on his face, that he knew Balor was right.
Balor: You can see it right? Don't you worry? That your constant
interference is hindering them? They'll never get stronger if
you continue to always come to their rescue. And soon, they'll
not only rely on you, but they'll fear you. They'll fear what
you can do because you're so much stronger.
After a moment, Kindron regains his composure. Kindron: I've
been trained my whole life to one day take the throne of
Tartarus. And as a potential ruler, I have to be able to protect
those in my domain... If I can't do that, then I don't deserve
to be a ruler at all. He says, as he stares down Balor with a
       new conviction in his mind.
Balor laughs, as he looks to the people who were still alive on
the ground around them. Balor: And how would your "people" feel
if I slaughtered them all right now?
Kindron scoffs and goes to attack Balor, being blocked almost
immediately as Kindron gave a cold glare, his dark aura flaring.
Kindron's normally cool and collected demeanor turned hateful as
he pushes Balor back a bit.
Balor: Yes... That's it... I used to feel just like that. He
says with another laugh. It's so easy to let your emotions take
over sometimes. Let your anger flow! He says cheerfully.
Kindron stays silent as he attacks again, as Balor and Kindron
clash swords again. They weren't moving as fast as before, but
the two were still releasing shockwaves as they clashed.
Balor: They have no intention of solving their problems alone...
All they care about is finding someone to save them! Those
weaklings haven't even figured out yet that you're just
hindering them. Taking their trials and adversity which are what
stimulate their growth... You take on all their pain and
       darkness for what?
Kindron: I do what I can to help people overcome darkness...
THAT is my purpose. He says as he attacks and clashes with
Balor's sword, the two moving again at faster speeds.
Balor: They'll come to fear you, you know... They'll become
selfish, and will believe it is their right to have you
constantly risk yourself for them. And then when they don't need
you... They'll use their fear of you to convince others that
you're a threat to their safety... Those "friends" of yours will
turn against you and hate you for being so much more than them.
Believe me... I speak from experience. Fomors and humans aren't
       that different in that regard.
Kindron: If you think that, you don't understand humans at all.
       He says coldly.
Balor smiles and chuckles as he moves away from Kindron and
puts his sword away. Balor: You're so much like I used to be...
I only hope I see the day when everything turns on you, and the
world sees you as a threat rather than an ally. Because I'll be
there to tell you "I told you so." He says the last part
jokingly. And you'll hate them when that day comes. At that
time, you'll be happy to kill them and admit I was right.
Kindron goes to attack Balor, attempting to slice him in half,
but Balor disappears before Kindron's blade makes contact, and
Kindron's sword just slashes the air. Kindron scoffs as he
realized that Balor was gone. He puts his sword away
After putting his sword away, he turns back toward Millia, who
was watching the fight. Kindron: Alright. Its safe now. We need
your magic to heal as many people as we can save. He says as he
motions for Millia, who runs over. Kindron and Millia go around
the village, saving as many as they could, while Kindron made
sure the souls of the people who died were picked up by the
reapers and not wandering back into the real world.
       End Flashback.
Millia: I'm gonna show you that you're wrong, Balor... We're not
weak like you think. And I will show you that Kindron was right.
I won't fall to hatred and anger. She says, training in her
sword style. Ever since the incident with Malice, Millia had
been hard at work training even harder. Not only was she
training her combat style which was the Shingetsu style that
Kindron used, but was also training her new shaman nature form
that she had developed after watching V and the others learn
their special sage powers. Though not the same, Millia had
applied some similar concepts to her situation, and was glowing
green with nature energy as she was now attacking with immense
       strength and speed.
A few shamans, including Akule, watch Millia train. Most of what
they could see were blurs of speed, and shockwaves of power, but
it was obvious that Millia was trying to surpass how strong
Kindron was when he fought Balor and push her own Shingetsu
variation style using her divine darkness to new levels.
Shaman: She's been training nonstop... Someone really needs to
       tell her to slow down.
Akule just chuckles softly to himself as he sits, drinking some
water. Akule: I learned a long time ago not to argue with her
       when she's in training mode.
Shaman: At times... I wonder how the Demon King corrupted her
training. How long before she becomes a beacon of hatred. I
don't care if it was Balor, Malice or just the Demon King being
himself, but its obvious that his personality lives on in
Millia... I worry that she's going to become just like him if
anger overcomes her. He says, which was how they referred to
       Kindron.
Akule looks over to the shaman with a glare. Akule: He taught
Millia how to fight, and how to become an honorable warrior.
That's all. He says somewhat angrily, as he hated it when people
would badmouth Kindron and blame Kindron for most of the bad
things that had happened to the Land of Shamans and to Millia.
Shaman: If you say so... He says, leaving it at that. Since the
shamans knew Akule defended Kindron's honor any chance he could,
they knew not to argue with him.
As Millia trains, she mentally prepares herself for her next
fights. Because she had a feeling that she would need to be
ready the next time Balor appeared.
       End.
