"The master does not recognize me now, but I recognize him, yes.
Soon I will make him remember me, yes?"
~Gargoyle quote
"I'm no one's servant. Call me that again and I'll do more than
make you toothless."
~Ranaz to a lowly vampire who called Ranaz a slave.
"I once knew what it was like to have my will and freedom taken
away from me. I will never let that happen again."
"I don't fall as easily as you think I do. Fighting me with
immense strength just make the fight even more interesting for
me."
"I have no use for this metal like certain creatures such as
humans. I understand the huge interest but to me, it's just
material."
"I have sworn that I will not let someone take control of my
mind and my free will. I made the last person who tried to take
those things away from me suffer a terrible fate. Unless you
want to end up like the last fool, don't ever take control of my
mind again!"
~Ranaz to a young Ventrue vampire who tried to use his Dominate
discipline on him and failed miserably.
"The Blackstaff of England is not available at the moment. If
you are looking for guidance or something as simple as
directions, I will be happy to help. If you're here for a less
pleasant matter, then I will only warn you once to leave here
and never return or else things will get ugly."
Ranaz: Thank you, Blackstaff Aradia.
Aradia: ...You know, you can remain here. I can make sure that
your petrified stone form is safe and you can have all the books
to read. I understand that you feel hesitant about it but you
and I both know that if I wanted to enslave you, I would've done
long ago. Whatever you do with your life is your own. I'm just
opening a door to something more comforting. Besides, you're one
of the only few people that I like in this wretched world.
Ranaz: ...I'll think about it.

~Gargoyle's flesh is hardened, pain is deadened, and fire damage
is halved.
Flight:
There are no disciplines for Flight. Every Gargoyle is able to
fly with greater speed and maneuverability. The older and
stronger the gargoyle gets, their flight abilities improve as
well. Ranaz is able to match the flight speed of a golden eagle
along with being able to carry at least two grown people.
Powers:
Gargoyle Physiology:
~User with this ability either is or can transform into an
gargoyle, a winged humanoid with a penchant for perching on high
terrain. Given their origins as statues of grotesque humans and
animals designed to ward off evil spirits and channel rainwater
from rooftops, they also tend to have an ability to turn to
stone, voluntarily or not. Few are actually living stone.
Although many gargoyles are relatively humanoid, they tend to
have number of animalistic features, like horns, tails (often
snake-like), unusual ears, fangs and/or claws. More animal-like
individuals exist, as well as some that are bizarre, chimeric
combinations of several species.
Traditionally, in folklore, they were benevolent despite their
appearance, which was framed as being frightful to scare demons
away. This is less common in modern fiction.
Wallcrawling:
~The user can scale walls and ceilings, no matter how rough or
smooth they are. They do not deny gravity, but adhere to
surfaces unaided using various ways. However in order to be
considered true wall-crawling, the user must be able to maintain
balance for long periods of time, compared to Wallrunning where
the energy is only temporary.
Beings with superhuman strength or with super strong and dense
claws could simply dig their fingers or into a surface, then
propelling upward and digging in again, generating the effect of
wall-crawling. In some cases, the user may simply be able to
make use of any handholds they find, no matter how small, to
wall crawl.
Alternatively, the user's body and skin could possess other
adhesive properties in common with certain animal species, such
as the suction pads of a frog. Those with Reptilian Physiology
could have microscopic hair/bristle-like structures on their
hands and feet like a gecko, a trait that is shared with those
with Insect Physiology and Arachnid Physiology. The use of
setae, as well as nanoscale fibers, can allow a user to access
electrostatic attraction forces known as Van der Waals Force to
interact with positive and negative molecular charges to
effectively cling to an object or structure at a molecular
level.
Night Vision:
~User has excellent night vision, the ability to see in low
light conditions or even total darkness. Whether by biological
or technological means, night vision is made possible by a
combination of two approaches: sufficient spectral range, and
sufficient intensity range.
Geokinetic Wing Manifestation:
~The user has or can form wings out of earth and use them from
transportation to offensive and defensive purposes such as using
them as a shield to block oncoming attacks or slicing the user's
target with a hard stone sting.
Claw Retraction:
~The user can project/retract razor-sharp claws of energy, bone,
metal, keratin, etc., from their fingertips/hands/fists/feet for
various (mostly offensive) purposes.
Prehensile Tail:
~User has or can grow a prehensile tail adapted to be able to
grasp or hold objects. Fully prehensile tails can be used to
hold and manipulate objects, and in particular to aid arboreal
creatures in finding and eating food in the trees.
Daytime Walking:
~The user is a nocturnal creature (typically a vampire) able to
withstand exposure to direct sunlight and be active during the
day. This can be because they are a Dhampir, are endowed with
magic or are unique physically in one way or another.
Ranaz is able to do this thanks to a mystical medallion that
turns him into a human, thus gaining a human form which he can
exploit during the day or the night (if he has to) for tasks
such as errands or just visiting a certain café.
Ground Pound:
~The user can slam the ground with great force to produce
different effects. This can be accomplished through various
means, such as stomping or punching the ground.
Petrifactive Hibernation:
~The user can transform themselves into a statue in order to
heal and be prevented from further harm, and returns to normal
when they have fully healed.
Gold Manipulation:
~The user can create, shape and manipulate gold, a dense, soft,
malleable, and ductile metal with a bright yellow color and
luster that is considered attractive, which is maintained
without tarnishing in air or water.
Gold is the most malleable of all metals; a single gram can be
beaten into a sheet of 1 square meter, or an ounce into 300
square feet. Gold leaf can be beaten thin enough to become
transparent. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity and
reflects infrared radiation strongly. Chemically, it is
unaffected by air, moisture and most corrosive reagents, and is
therefore well suited for use in coins and jewelry and as a
protective coating on other, more reactive metals.
Radiation/Electricity/Erosion/Acid Immunity:
~Due to gold's pure state and being less conductive like metals
such as copper and silver, Ranaz is completely immune to
radiation, acid, erosion or electric based powers. This affects
him in both human and gargoyle form. He does have to be careful
with certain electric users who can bypass electric immunities
or have certain electric powers such as ice or fire electric
that can be a pain for him, no matter how durable he is.
Gold Mimicry:
~The user is made up of or can transform their body completely
into gold. The user's transformed form is anatomically identical
to their normal form, aside of being made of gold, in which case
it contains all to organs and is somewhat vulnerable to attacks.
Alternately the user can transform into homogeneous matter,
without any part of their form being more important than the
other.
As a metal, gold is malleable, ductile, resistant to corrosion
and most other chemical reactions, and conductive of
electricity, all of which the user gains.
Ranaz prefers to turn his limbs into gold in combat for more
damage but he doesn't like turning his entire body into gold
since it's not as stealthy as his true form.
Skills:
Natural Weaponry:
~The user possesses some form of natural weaponry, including
claws, fangs, horns, beaks, clubbed tails, etc., and knows how
to use them.
Enhanced Unarmed Combat:
~The users excel in melee attacks without wielding weapons.
Rather than relying on weapons or equipment, they draw on their
own strength and skill to fight. Users are able to use different
styles of martial arts, they can also perform many different
combination strikes, counters, and disarm their foes with their
bare hands.
Enhanced Craftsmanship:
~The user can flawlessly craft any item to sheer perfection.
They can forge the strongest weapons, the toughest armors, the
greatest structures, the most powerful artifacts, etc. Some are
able to create with nothing but the material around them and in
very short notice.
Danger Intuition:
~The user can sense nearing danger, acute danger, potential
immediate danger, or impending danger and sense unwanted or
hectic threats to their well-being and evade it. The intuition
usually regards themselves but may include their surroundings
(like a distant car-wreck).
Drug Intuition:
~The user has knowledge over drugs, medicine, remedies, and
pills. They possess pharmaceutical and chemical knowledge of
drugs and how they affect the human body. Due to their large
mental library of what drugs do what, they know what drugs to
administer to treat a person, how to make it, and how potent the
effects can be.
Killing Intuition:
~The user has innate knowledge of how to kill any living being
regardless of how powerful they are. This ability comes in great
significance when dealing with seemingly unstoppable opponents
and allows the user to end their lives with expedient
efficiency.
Urban Intuition:
~User has intuition in regards to a urban areas, in other words,
street smarts. The user can effectively know their way around
any urban area, as well as know who to trust and who not to
trust, what areas are dangerous, etc.
Transformation:
Human Form:
~With the magical golden medallion that Ranaz was given as a
gift from Aradia, Ranaz is able to turn into a human. Nothing
too much from this form since it's a disguise and a way to move
around freely in the daytime. Although he can still display his
disciplines and alchemy in his human form, he can't go
overboard, especially in the sunlight.
Weaknesses:
All Gargoyles, much like the Nosferatu, are hideous to look at,
a byproduct of their occult origins (and the varied Kindred
stock from which they originate). This means that Gargoyles,
just like the Nosferatu, have to hide their existence from
common mortals. Even though Ranaz has a medallion that makes him
human, he can still revert back to his original form if the
medallion is taken off of him, which is a huge risk during the
daytime.
In addition, the nature of the bloodline's origin manifests
itself in the fact that Gargoyles are highly susceptible to mind
control of any source. This weakness is intentional; a flaw
placed into all Gargoyles by the Tremere in the hope that it
would make them easier to control (and less likely to rebel).
Ranaz is a free gargoyle who is a friend of Aradia. Although he
learned how to protect himself from mental attacks such as mind
control, he's not completely immune to it and can go into a
feral rage if someone tries to control him.
Gold is still vulnerable to extreme cold and heat along with
metal manipulation. Gold is heavy which can be a problem if he
sinks in something like water, mud, etc. though it's not much
different from his stone form. He can't drown but it's still a
hassle unless he's in his human form. Not many people know this
but mercury can actually dissolve gold, making this a problem
for Ranaz if he use his gold powers. Monster slaying weapons and
abilities can still harm him.
Weapon(s):
None
Personality:
Ranaz is a simple gargoyle who enjoys his freedom. He enjoys his
solitude with Aradia and prefers not to get pulled into the
world's problems though he does enjoy the world's simple
pleasure such as sight seeing and playing cards. Despite his
previous life as a warrior servant, Ranaz isn't a violent man
and prefer to solve things peacefully despite his appearance and
bravado in combat. Although he acts like he enjoys the fight, he
really just want to be left alone. Although he seem to be the
antisocial type, Ranaz doesn't mind talking with other creatures
as long as they don't attack him or act rude towards him or
Aradia.
