Adonia: Best we can do is play our part and assist Hellsing and
their allies any way that we can. I may also have to speak with
my mentor if possible.

Marie: I think that may be best. Perhaps I should get lover boy
here caught up to speed in the meantime?
Sirius: Turns out the veil’s death magic is a little funny. He
says with a chuckle. To make a long story short I gained a pair
of wings and ended up working under Azrael. And when I’m not
working, I’m watching you as best I can. I’ve kept you from so
many near death experiences. Well the ones that let me keep my
distance anyways. Azrael didn’t think you knowing I was out of
the Veil was a good idea. You needed the grief to fuel you, but
Az can shove it for all I care. I don’t like seeing the anger
and hurt. It doesn’t suit such a lovely face.

Marie nods. Marie: Of course. Take some time to cool off. I’ll
let you know before I depart. She finds the closest piece of
furniture to collapse onto. Now this is a time for burning
questions Connor. About me, Danae, the mess you’re involving
yourself in. All of it.
Sirius returns the hug nearly crushing the life out of her for a
moment before being gentle. He presses an affectionate kiss to
the top of her hair. Sirius: I think he knew I meant a lot to
you, so he kept me around. Merlin I’ve missed you little bird.

Marie: That’s shocking even for me considering what’s been
dumped in your lap.
Sirius: Apparently the angelic upgrade does wonders for my
already natural good looks. He reluctantly releases his hold on
her. I certainly feel years younger.

Marie: I mean we left out the whole maniacal overlord thing and
the minor magical war. And most of the gory details. Nobody
would blame you if you ran for the hills right now. You won’t
because you’re made of stronger stuff than that but this is
bigger than what we’ve dealt with together in the past.
Sirius: Ah see now there’s the sound of my blackbird. Music to
my ears. Now I happen to have a townhouse nearby and I really
would like to know if you’d let me take you home. He pauses
briefly and his brain seems to catch up to his mouth. He
continues with a short laugh and a grin. Home for a drink.
Maybe conversation unless you want silence. You have that
stressed look and a weight to your shoulders that’s begging for
relief.

Marie: I know you won’t. That’s not like you at all, but I
wouldn’t hold it against you if you did. This is bound to get
ugly. People might die. People will definitely get hurt. She
looks at him long and hard. I just worry about you. I don’t care
for people often, and the list of people I do care for is rather
short. If I can avoid putting you in mortal peril I would prefer
it.
Sirius: I know they will. They’re good people that way. He tucks
his hands in his pockets and jerks his head in the direction
behind him back towards the side road he took. It’s back that
way. Walk or apparition?
