Community Special Race: Ki Users
"Ki isn't just about throwing around energy and having a strong
body. It's the latent power of the body you have to train and
train your mind to use that power. A strong body is useless
without the focus to use that power effectively or the brains to
use that power correctly." - Viktor's teacher on ki

)
Bio: Ki is often confused with chi, and most people don't know
the difference in the two skills. However, comparing the two is
like comparing apples to pears, in which apples and pears both
come from trees and are somewhat similar fruits, but are
different in nature. Ki is often used by certain races that
specialize in martial arts, in which ki was developed by drawing
on the latent power of the body. While chi and ki come from the
same place in the body, ki is focused somewhat differently. Ki
is more about outward power, focused through mostly physical and
some mental training, while chi is more about inward power
focused through mostly mental and some physical training. Both
manage to train both the outer and inner power of those who
learn it, but both have different focuses on how they use it,
even if their training is somewhat similar in a lot of aspects.
While meditation is important in ki training, it is physical
training that is the most important thing to make ki stronger
and more focused while chi is more about meditation and mental
focus than physical power. Overall, ki users are more about
physical strength and martial arts, in which they train heavily
in order to train their bodies to harness more ki and focus that
ki more effectively. Over time, there are even plenty of special
ki types that advanced users can learn, such as god ki or demon
ki being the most well known ki types. Ki is most known for it's
use among Saiyans and Namekians, who are two alien races that
specialize in ki, though humans and other races have learned how
to use ki as well. Some races even have unique ways to use ki,
which is dependent on the race.
Race: Any race can use ki, as all living things generate ki in
some fashion. Some beings may have unique ki, such as deities
produce god ki, or certain kinds of demons may produce demon ki,
but all races have ki in some form. Almost any living being can
train in the use of ki, though some races may not be able to use
certain advanced ki types, such as deities won't be able to
learn demon ki. Usually though, ki is most favored among martial
artists and combat-based users compared to chi which is usually
favored by monks and other beings who focus on meditation over
physical ability and power.
Ki Abilities:
- Ki Control: Ki users aren't really all that different from
chi, mana and aura users, having their own skillset for ki use
just as other energy users have developed their own abilities.
Similar to how other energy users have certain focuses (like
aura being used for defense), ki users have a focus as well. In
the case of ki users, ki users focus on amplification of their
bodies and energy techniques using ki as their power source. Ki
users are most common when referring to Saiyans and Namekians
who specialize in ki as well as a few other select races like
the Frieza race (sometimes referred to as Acrosians) and certain
humans who learned the art as well, but can be used by any race
that can generate ki (which most living races or mechanical
races with ki generating cores can). This has the same drawbacks
as things like chi and aura though, as once the user runs out,
they can't use ki abilities anymore and can be left at a
disadvantage as they will lose their ability to use techniques
and lose their ki amplification. All of these abilities are
dodgable, with most being blockable with the right strategies
assuming it's not a defense piercing technique. And aura breaker
weapons can easily dispel almost any type of ki (it is not known
if there are any immune to aura breaker weapons, but so far none
have been reported), so aura breaker weapons can make pretty
quick work of ki attacks. And like aura, the color of one's ki
is usually random, depending on the individual and only
sometimes might reflect on the user, such as god ki users using
red or blue god ki, or super saiyans having yellow ki. Overall
though, ki users are just like many other energy users. This
covers mostly normal ki, though some can learn more advanced ki
like god ki, demon ki, or even certain other unique kinds of ki
that exist.
- Dou/Sei Ki Knowledge Power Focus: While ki is often described
as having positive and negative types, this is more of a simpler
explanation. The true focus of ki is broken down into two ki's,
which are present in others. The stronger ki will often
determine how a user gets stronger, and usually also determines
a lot of their approach to combat. Dou ki concentrates a more
aggressive type ki that gets stronger through stronger emotions
(usually through anger), but also usually through battle itself.
On the other hand, Sei ki is usually a much more passive type
ki, usually used by those that are not aggressive and don't
prefer to use their ki to fight others. While Sei Ki users also
train normally to get stronger, their biggest focus is usually
inward, where they focus more on meditation and calmness rather
than on strong emotions like dou ki users. Both usually have
different approaches to training and combat, which also seems to
come out in their personalities as well. It isn't known if
personalities are the result of the person's dominant ki side or
if the ki side is dominant because of the person's personality.
However, each ki user does have their dominant ki side, with
each user having to figure this out for themselves and learn to
balance their ki. Typically, balance is not achieved by just
equalling the two out, but instead, users have to keep their
natural ratio of ki balanced in order to keep their power
balanced. Both ki types are usually not fully attainable and
their natures pulled out into the ki itself unless one does
specific advanced training for one of them, and users have to
focus on their dominant side of ki. If a user uses both or tries
to use the non-dominant ki, they can do severe harm to
themselves, even if they manage to succeed in using the ki
properly. This balance is a bit different from other energy
users, and requires a user to focus inward in order to figure
out their own balance. This training is a necessary step to
training, as a user has to find out what their dominant ki is
before they can use ki at all.
- Ki User Physical and Supernatural Amplification: This is the
most known focus of ki users' abilities, and is the focus of
much of their training. Most ki users are trained from the
beginning of their ki training to use their ki to amplify their
physical and supernatural stats, where their ki acts as an
amplifier similar to those that use things like spirit
amplification or mana amplification. This training amplifies a
supernatural's abilities, both physically and through their
supernatural power. Usually, ki is generated in the body and
strengthens the body through focus of the body and mind of the
ki user. This has a number of effects on the body, such as an
increase in strength and speed, amplified defense and
durability, and increasing the power of their supernatural
abilities through using ki to amplify any supernatural energies
that are used. This amplification is the main focus besides ki
techniques, and requires immense training and physical control
to learn to focus ki. While not requiring as much focus as
things like god ki training or divine state training, ki still
requires focus and using both the mind and body to harness ki
and use it as an amplifier. Overall, this ki amplification is
useful, but still has the same weaknesses as other energy users
in that they can only use this amplification as long as they
have ki. Once they run out, they will lose this amplification,
and be forced down to their normal stats.
- Ki Aura: This refers to the ki that is emited from a person,
in which their ki forms an aura when focused around the user.
This aura reacts based on the ki of the person, and how they use
it. For example, if a user powers up, their ki emitted into
their aura grows stronger, and their aura grows larger.
Depending on the focus of the user, the aura may show when a ki
user is charging up attacks, or a user's aura may flare up while
they are in a powerful state. Typically, this aura has a few
functions. First, the aura is focused into special aura based
techniques, with some having special techniques using the ki in
their aura, or some can even use this ki to charge their power
using special ki charging techniques, which is often the most
used use for ki aura. Usually, aura also acts like a passive
defense, as when concentrated, it can help protect a user from
attacks and dampen damage done. While not as effective as some
other types of energy defense, this does help in battles as
users of ki will typically emit ki even when using special
trainings like god ki that focus on containing ki in the body.
To a degree, ki usually reflects the person, and can come in
many shapes and forms. Depending on the person, ki color can
also be unique, with some types of ki having unique effects.
Typically, ki aura is just a reflection of certain actions ki
users take, such as flaring up when powering up, or
concentrating itself if a user is focusing a ki attack. Unless
one has special ki aura techniques, this doesn't really do
damage, and more is just a way to help focus ki for users, and
help them more easily charge their ki.
- Physical Strain Ki Radiation: This technique is a skill
developed by ki users to replicate a similar technique used by
mana users. This power lets a ki user relieve some of the stress
of the energy has on their bodies out through expanding their
expulsion of ki into their aura, allowing them to relieve the
body of the burdens on their bodies. Typically, this is most
useful when one is trying to boost their durability, as this can
help relieve them a little during fights. This can reduce the
tension of using their ki, and can help with stamina management.
This allows the body to keep itself from straining itself too
much if used properly, and can be used to help when the body is
under extreme pressure. Users can also use it when in battle,
such as trying to hold back a strong attack, as they can use
this to allow them to use their power more easily. Unlike with
mana users, this is a conscious ability, which a user has to
expend ki to expand one's ki outward too allow the body to
relieve it's tension from the energy use. Typically, this uses
ki, which means that users have to be careful when using this.
Unlike mana radiating from the body, ki users actually expend ki
in order to use this, making it useful, but having a downside in
that it uses ki. Without ki to expend, this technique is not
able to be used, similar to it's mana counterpart. This also
only helps to a certain level, and usually cannot help people
overcome attacks at a certain level, as the relief and power one
can call forth from doing this is dependant on their ki levels
and how much ki they expend. Some ki users have even expended
all their ki doing this to stop stronger attacks, which can
leave them exhausted and out of ki. Caution should be used
before this is attempted.
- Ki Defense and Durability Amplification: This is another great
use of ki manipulation, in which those who use it are able to
passively increase their defense and durability using ki. This
not only falls under the physical amplification, but the effects
of the defense and durability increase also have other effects
as well. Ki defense is somewhat similar to aura defense, but
overall works somewhat differently. Unlike aura defense which
protects someone completely, ki defense focuses on strengthening
the body rather than putting a barrier like aura defense. Ki
defense strengthens the entire body, making it harder to damage,
and usually, protects it from weaker opponents. Many times,
weaker opponents will do little damage to an opponent with ki
defense, as the ki defense will strengthen their body
considerably. When used, ki defense will lessen damage done, and
works similarly to other things like dragon skin that make the
skin tougher, except that ki defense makes the entire body
tougher. As a result, the body takes less damage, and is harder
to pierce as a result of this passive defense. This also is less
costly on energy to use than aura defense, since the ki in the
body is used to strengthen the body rather than using energy
outside the body. This may not be as protective as aura defense
though, and stronger opponents can break through this defense if
they put enough power into the attack, as they only have to
overpower the ki defense to hurt someone. Unlike aura defense,
this is not a complete defense, and while it may not cost as
much energy, it doesn't provide as much protection. This can
also still only be used while the user has ki, as once they run
out, they will lose this defense and return to their normal
physical stats.
- Ki Hardening: This is a pure defensive technique where the
user condenses their ki in and around their body in a temporary
defensive pattern similar to aura lock. Some ki users have
different means of using this, but usually, this is designed to
defend against stronger techniques and attacks that normal
defense can't handle. Usually, this concentrates towards the
front, in which the user can bring up their arms in front of
them to generate their ki in a defensive pattern. Some are even
skilled enough to focus it into their hand to help catch
attacks. This depends on the ki user, and depending on the user,
usually determines how this technique is used. This is a very
useful technique for blocking attacks temporarily, but takes
more energy to use and hold in place, meaning it's only useful
when absolutely needed due to the stamina and energy cost of the
technique. This technique isn't really too much different from
the aura lock technique, including the fact that most ki users
have to stay still while focusing this technique, as this focus
to use this technique. Advanced users of this can move while
using this, but usually not too much as they still have to focus
on their ki to use this. Most of the time, advanced users will
use this to slap away projectile attacks or catch attacks, or
use the ki defense to not be blown away by strong energy
attacks. This technique is strong, but the ki hardening is only
as strong as the ki allows it to be, and some stronger energy
attacks might not be able to be blocked as effectively, as
stronger ki attacks will break this defense. And of course, aura
breaker abilities can instantly break this defense.
- Ki Barrier Defense: In a manner similar to other energy user's
special defense spirit skills that use energy to protect parts
of the body and a manner similar to aura defense that protects
the whole body, ki users have a special barrier technique to
protect them in dangerous situations. Some have special barrier
techniques, such as some can create special spherical barriers,
but many just create barriers around their bodies to protect
themselves from something. This is very useful in dangerous
environments, as the barrier can be used to protect from
dangerous environments like radioactive areas, or places with
corrosive or corruptive energies, as it protects the body from
outside influences. As mentioned, there are plenty of people
with unique techniques to use this, but overall, the two main
uses of this involve spherical barriers and barriers that cover
the body completely. Unlike defense spirit abilities like Haki
or Pai Zhua, this is a barrier that goes up around the entire
body, and can protect the entire body at once. The only downside
to this is that it uses more energy than other defense spirit
abilities, but is far more protective than other defense spirit
techniques. These barriers can be broken though with enough
power, and techniques designed to negate energy can actually
break through these (like aura breaker weapons/powers). Overall,
this is a technique designed for a quick defense that needs to
protect the whole body, but is not designed to be held for long
periods of time due to how much ki is used to maintain a
barrier. Some can hold barriers up longer than others, but
overall, ki cost can be quite high if overused. Users can also
obviously only use this while they have ki.
- Ki Attack Focus: Through advanced ki training, some ki users
can focus their ki into a single point of attack, concentrating
their ki more so they can damage opponents with more focused
attacks rather than wasting power. Not only does this let them
save ki by not wasting ki on larger attacks, but also lets them
break defenses more easily where they are able to break things
like aura defense, dragon skin or other defense techniques much
more easily using this power. This is a highly advanced
technique only high level ki users are able to master, and
requires not just ki concentration, but martial arts knowledge
and practice as it is more of a combat style about focusing and
condensing attacks than simply attacking with wasted force. This
skill is very useful when mastered though, as it helps
concentrate ki into attacks, rather than just spreading the
attack over a large area where it won't do as much damage. Those
who use this could essentially punch through a boulder, leaving
only a hole where their fist punched through, showing their
concentrated strength, but also showing that they only damage
what they attack directly. But while this is effective, it does
require the user to be focused, and using their martial arts
effectively in order to use this properly. It also means that
damage is condensed into one area, meaning that the damage done
may be more to the singular point, but won't be as damaging to
the overall thing or person they're trying to damage. This does
better damage, and helps the ki user focus better on their
attacks, but overall does somewhat limit the attack when it's
focused in one point.
- Ki Flight and Ki Grip: Those who learn to use ki are able to
use ki to do other things than just using ki in battle for
blasting people or for defense. For ki users, they are able to
fly by channeling ki to the bottom of their feet and using it to
lift themselves off, and can fly extremely fast once they've
trained the skill and can handle the wind while flying. Ki users
are able to use this art to fly for long periods of time, and
some can even learn to fly faster than fighter jets if they
become experienced enough and can handle flying at higher speeds
(usually through increasing their ki defense to help them handle
the force of their faster flight). Another skill is using this
to grip or walk up/on something most wouldn't be able to, in
which users learn to cling to objects in different ways. Some ki
users learn this by using this to walk on water, or walk up
trees similar to some chakra training so that they can more
easily learn to use the basics of the ki grip. Of course, being
able to fly makes this useless after a while, but mostly this is
used for training the initial skill more than being useful.
However, there is another use for this, which is to tighten grip
on things like weapons and things they want to hold, where the
item in the user's hand cannot be knocked out of their hand
while this ki grip is in effect. This is the biggest use for the
ki grip, once one has learned to fly and rarely uses it. Most
users can fly around as long as they have ki, and can use this
ki grip as long as they have ki. Typically, these are just
skills that are useful to certain situations, or useful for
getting around more easily, or keeping grip on something more
easily. While this is useful, it's not really a damaging battle
skill, since this can't be used to "attack" opponents (though it
is possible for ki users to fight each other while flying, which
is something that ki users will use flight for at times during
battle). And of course, this can only be used as long as the
user has ki.
- Ki Charge Techniques: Almost all ki users have special
charging techniques to recharge their ki through intense focus
through their body. When using this, most ki users have a way to
focus their production of ki to amplify their generation of ki
considerably temporarily, in which they generate large amounts
of ki from within their body and mind. There are many different
kinds of ki techniques to charge one's ki, with the most common
one being Maximum Charge, a technique that is fast recharge of
ki by boosting the body's production of ki and is typically the
fastest charge available since it only focuses on charging ki
and nothing else. There are others, however, including the demon
technique known as Darkness Mixer, which uses darkness to not
only draw ki from darkness, but also restores one's stamina by
drawing on the dark energy. Darkness Mixer is only usable by
those trained by demons of the Dragonball Pantheon, and is a
potent technique. The last technique is Divinity Unleashed,
which is used by god ki users and mystic ki users. Divinity
Unleashed is a godly technique of charging ki which not only
restores ki, but also strengthens the body further using ki
generated by the technique to power the body with god or mystic
ki (depending on what the person is using. Divinity Unleashed is
usually taught by the Kai's or through training with god ki, as
this is a godly technique only usuable with godly type ki
techniques. Each of these techniques may be different, but their
end function is the same, as each technique is designed to
recharge ki in some fashion. The one used often depends on
training and the preferences of the ki user, as some may be
taught certain techniques over others. Players can choose the
ones that fit their character, but keep in mind the character's
training (IE a demon ki character is not going to have the
training to use Divinity Unleashed since it's a god technique),
and players should keep in mind the skill level (IE a character
who just started training shouldn't have Maximum Charge when
it's the highest level of ki charge since character start from
the bottom and work their way up. Players can come up with their
own charge techniques if they desire, but proper balance must be
observed in the techniques
- Ki Charge/Full Charge/Maximum Charge: This is the first of the
basic ki charge techniques, in which one can learn to use this
to recharge their ki. Unlike other techniques, this ki charge
technique focuses only on charging ki, and does it faster than
most other ki charge techniques. If it's just ki one wants, this
charge proves to be the best and fastest. This is also best used
on those with not a lot of ki, since those with a lot of ki have
their own charging technique of recharging ki that is a
variation of this skill. Maximum Charge is the third state of ki
charging and highest level of normal charge, with the first
level being Ki Charge, and the second level being Full Charge.
Depending on the training level of the user, the user starts at
the first level, Ki Charge, and through enough training,
eventually works their way up to to the next level, Full Charge.
This process ends with Maximum Charge though, and is the last
level despite the name of the Ultimate Charge technique. The
Ultimate Charge shares a similar name, but is it's own
technique, so it doesn't fall into the main three charge
techniques. These charges focus only on charging ki, and don't
have any special effects that are generated by using these
techniques. However, the upside is that charging ki tends to be
faster with this type of ki charge, since there's nothing else
to focus the ki on to drain the ki recharged like other
techniques. This also doesn't take as much focus to use, and can
be shut off if the user has to face an opponent without too much
issue, which is true for every stage of this charging technique.
Opponents can also interrupt this charge by attacking an
opponent, forcing them to not focus on charging their ki, making
this only usuable when the user has time to focus and
concentrate.
- Ultimate Charge Ki Charge: This technique was designed by
users with a lot of ki to recharge, and was designed to be a
variation of the Maximum Charge technique. This is used by those
with immense amounts of ki, in which the ki recharged is focused
and recharged different from normal. Instead of just focusing ki
like the normal ki charge technique, the user uses ki to charge
their ki charge technique and slowly generate more ki as the ki
charge technique is strengthened. This means that the charge of
ki starts out at a reduced speed, but speeds up as ki is put
into amplifying the ki charge. As a result, this more quickly
recharges large amounts of ki, and those with large amounts of
ki can use this to recharge their ki faster than Maximum Charge.
Usually, the amount of ki one needs to recharge usually
determines whether or not this technique is worth using, as
lower levels of ki will find that Maximum Charge is faster to
replenish their ki, while this technique works better with more
experienced and higher amounts of ki due to the slower start of
the ki charging process. As a result, this takes longer to get
to a good recharge level, so interrupting this technique in the
early stage is easier to do, but once the user manages to get
this going, they can recover ki much faster than other charge
techniques. However, this does also require focus, and can leave
a user open if they are attacked by an opponent while using
this. Opponents can also interrupt this charge by attacking an
opponent, forcing them to not focus on charging their ki, making
this only usuable when the user has time to focus and
concentrate.
- Darkness Mixer Ki Charge (Darker ki type users only): This
technique is used by demons of the demon realm (In the
Dragonball Pantheon), and is a technique exclusively taught
among demon ki users. This technique recharges ki using darkness
energy rather than focusing ki, using the sheer power of
darkness to the user's advantage. This technique specializes in
not only recharging ki, but also recharging stamina due to how
this technique works. This ki charge is based around absorbing
darkness and using darkness to recharge ki, by drawing the ki
out of the darkness using demon ki training which recharges
one's ki when using demonic ki training. However, ki is not the
only part of this technique, as the darkness energy not absorbed
into the ki is absorbed into the body and the energy is able to
replenish the stamina of the user who is absorbing the darkness
thanks to the demon ki training. This technique is more useful
than Maximum Charge simply because it allows one to also
recharge stamina, but requires more focus than Maximum or
Ultimate Charge, and overuse of this can actually damage the
user due to the power of the darkness energy absorbed regardless
of skill level. This is a somewhat risky technique at times, but
users who can use it find it far more useful than other charge
techniques. Like other charge techniques, attacking the user
will interrupt this technique, and force the user to stop this
technique.
- Divinity Unleashed Ki Charge (Positive ki type users only):
This is the last charge technique that is used by some of the
gods. This technique was originally designed by Goku Black to be
a divine use of Maximum Charge, but was modified using god ki
charging techniques. This is usuable by those with either mystic
ki training or god ki training, assuming they learn it since it
is a rare technique mostly only used these days by Goku Black
and his family. This technique focuses on recharging ki, but
after charging some ki, the ki amplifies the body more,
amplifying the effects of the ki generated by this technique and
making the ki stronger temporarily. When used, this ki
generation technique generates much stronger ki, and techniques
using ki will gain enhanced amplification when this effect is
active. This effect takes place using the ki's amplification
effect, in which the ki in the body is used to amplify the ki
generated by this technique. If not used for techniques, this
can also be used to temporarily amp the combat abilities of the
user, using the ki amplification to strengthen the body instead.
This effect is temporary, but makes this technique very useful
for some users who use this amplification effect. This is not as
fast as Maximum Charge, but the amplification is usually worth
the slower charge to those that use this technique. Of course,
the main danger of this technique, like the others, is that
opponents' attacks can snap someone out of this as this requires
focus to use, just like the other ki charge techniques.
- Ki Blasts, Charged Ki Blasts and Ki Techniques: This is a
basic ki user ability, where almost every ki user learns to
focus their ki into ki blasts, which can be fired at opponents
that explode on impact. This focuses their ki into blasts which
can be used different ways. Most users develop a slew of ki
techniques, and can be used many different ways depending on the
user and the training the user has in ki. Normal ki blasts can
be fired like bullets at opponents, thrown like balls at
opponents, or can be used to fire homing ki blasts with
concentration. There are different levels and types of ki
blasts, usually dependent on the user and how they choose to
focus their ki, such as some who fire simple explosive blasts,
or some that may be used in special ways, such as homing ki
blasts or beams to break defenses. This depends on the ki user
and how they use their ki, and even sometimes depends on their
race as some races may focus their ki blasts differently
depending on the race. Another technique with this is the
charged ki blast, where the user is able to charge their ki into
a larger blast to do more damage. There are a few types of
charged ki blasts depending on the ki type, just like normal ki
blasts. Most users usually rely on their advanced ki techniques,
since everyone develops their own techniques or learns from a
master of ki. Usually, basic ki blasts and charged ki blasts are
useful against weaker opponents who users don't want to waste
stronger attacks on. Most ki users focus on the advanced ki
techniques, but most are able to use basic blasts. Typically,
these blasts are not too strong, but are strong enough that they
can be effective to stagger opponents, or catch opponents off
guard if used properly.
- Ki Transfer/Ki Revive: This technique is usually for allies,
where ki users learn to transfer their ki to others. While the
absorption of other's ki forcefully is forbidden arts territory,
most users learn this as a way to help their allies, in which
they can transfer ki to allies in order to power them up or
restore their energy. Users can do this with their own ki, even
reviving someone from death if they are healed and they are
transferred energy before their soul leaves for the afterlife
(like some that might not be able to heal certain wounds before
the person dies). Typically, this power is very useful when
fighting in groups, as it allows people to support each other.
Often, ki users transfer special ki energy to each other at
times, such as a sage ki user transferring some sage ki to
allies in order to power them up with it, or transferring ki
into someone to grant them special ki defense temporarily. The
specific effects can vary depending on the energy used, and how
it is transferred. If the user is at full power, recieving
energy can make them stronger to a certain point, while using
energy on someone who has depleted their energy will use the
energy to restore some of their lost energy and stamina.
Advanced users of this are able to amp their allies even if they
are exhausted, and make them more powerful by using their ki to
amplify their abilities. This can even be used to help someone
recover a little faster from injuries, as long as the injuries
aren't too severe. However, the major danger of this technique
is that users can get overwhelmed at a certain level, and
overwhelming them could cause them to literally explode if they
accept too much ki, or cause damage to their bodies beyond a
certain level. Amping one's power beyond one's limits has it's
consequences, which is why people must be careful when using
this on allies and make sure not to give them too much ki.
However, overwhelming someone does sometimes work on ki users
who absorb ki through forbidden arts, but those who absorb this
ki can usually have to choose to absorb the ki, as they can cut
off the flow of energy if they don't want the energy.
- Kiai (Attack Wave): This is more of a physical ki wave which
is fired by ki users like a concussive wave, blasting a
shockwave outward, usually toward an opponent using their ki.
This technique is invisible to the naked eye, but can be sensed
by anyone that can sense energy, making it useful if an opponent
cannot sense energy. These are waves of pure physical force,
which are created and focused by ki to do damage to opponents
who normally wouldn't be as vulnerable to energy attacks. This
is usable by most ki users, as this is more of a physical attack
focused through ki rather than a ki technique, and is a basic
technique that most ki users learn when using things like simple
ki blasts as this is a pretty basic use of ki. This attack wave
is useful for attacking someone farther away without wasting ki
to use a stronger ki technique, and can be used in conjunction
with physical attacks as well if a user is skilled enough. And
those who can use physical strength to their advantage can
actually hit harder with this technique, as those who can use
physical force effectively can make this technique stronger with
their own strength, as well as training their ki to make this
power stronger. However, this is fired in a wave at opponents,
and while it does concussive damage, it can be blocked or dodged
like any other wave. Depending on the user, this could be
strong, but even if it is, opponents need only know how to
absorb the impact, usually with a shield or something to use for
cover to avoid the wave. Opponents can also sense this technique
if they can sense energy, despite it being invisible to the
naked eye.
- Ki Life Force Based Techniques: Some ki users have life force
based techniques where if they run out of ki and might die, they
can focus some of their life force into special techniques to
use as a last resort in battle. Depending on the user, they may
have special techniques for this, or they might just focus it
into existing techniques. This is a very dangerous, last ditch
effort in fights, as once someone drains their life force
completely, they will die. However, techniques using this ki are
much stronger than normal ki techniques, and some may even have
techniques that can sacrifice their lives, such as one technique
called Final Explosion which converts the body and the ki into a
large explosion of power that is designed to take out the user
and the opponent in a large explosion. Recovering life force
isn't the same as recovering normal ki, and while life force ki
is more powerful than normal, it also doesn't recover easily and
requires a lot of time to recover one's life force, unless one
has someone transfer some of their life force to someone who has
run low on life force. For ki users, this type of technique is
usually considered taboo and considered to be techniques only to
be used if death is certain, as some ki users have actually
killed themselves with techniques because they were forced to
resort to this. Most ki users only ever resort to this if death
is certain, or they are willing to use their life force to risk
dying to protect someone or something since overuse of this
usually makes death a certainty. Even if the user does survive,
it could take weeks to even months before they recover their
life force completely unless some method of restoring their life
force is used (such as others giving life force to restore one's
life force). There are a number of special ki techniques that
utilize this, and all of them are equally dangerous to a ki
user's life, so they should never be taken lightly, by allies or
opponents.
- Team Ki Attack Combinations: Once one has managed to reach a
certain level of ki use, they might be able to team up with
other energy users to create unique attacks the two can use
together. Usually, this is partially why some ki users work
together and specialize in transfering power to each other,
where they are often able to take advantage of different natures
and ki types to combine their powers. Some powers go really well
together, such as dou ki and sei ki user being able to combine
their power outside of their bodies where they can't damage
themselves with the ki (which creates a powerful combination
energy). This depends not only on the users teaming up, but on
their ability to work together, as this requires both to be
completely in sync with each other to the point that they move
simultaneously together. The amount of combinations a team could
do are quite vast, so it's hard to name every way a ki user can
combine chakra with others, as the exact effects usually depend
on the ki natures used, the users ki type choices and even the
forms of the attacks used. For example, a user could combine a
ki beam with a mana beam to create a powerful mixed energy beam
that is far stronger than the two attacks would be alone.
However, the one thing that is constant is that most team
attacks are twice as strong as normal attacks at least, with
most team attacks (when done correctly) being far stronger than
most singular techniques available. Of course, the same
weaknesses as normal ki attacks do still apply.
Special Ki Types/Abilities: (depending on Training, can use up
to 3 Special Types)
- Special Ki Types and Abilities: Once at an advanced enough
level of ki training and depending on the ki user's teacher,
most ki users have a number of special advanced ki training
techniques they can learn. Most are familiar with god ki, but
god ki is just one of the options available. There are plenty of
options, with there being both good and evil techniques of
advanced ki depending on the person and their training.
Typically, once reaching a certain level, the user learns some
kind of advanced ki technique. If training in the godly realm, a
user will often learn advanced ki's used by the gods, such as
god ki or mystic ki depending on who is training the user.
However, there are not just god techniques, but also advanced
human techniques and advanced demon ki techniques as well. It is
worth noting that there are many options and there may even be
many types of ki training not known typically that users might
find depending on who they're training with and how teaches them
ki use. There are many ways to use ki that people don't know,
such as demons and gods having special ki magic techniques that
most don't realize ki can do. It is also fairly unknown that
there are plenty of mortal level advanced ki techniques, such as
the Dou and Sei ki training, or the Spirit Ki training. Often,
one can find unique ki training in odd places, like Planet
Yardrat who has Spirit Ki training that use special and strange
techniques. Of course, there are some ki types that are just
advanced uses of ki, like god ki and demon ki being used just
like normal ki. But there are also ki types that have unique
effects based on the ki and unique techniques that are only
usuable with that type of ki. Of course, the one thing that all
of these have in common is that if one runs out of ki, none of
these are usuable, and they still have the same weaknesses as
normal ki, as well as many having counter ki types (IE demon ki
counters god ki).
- Advanced Mortal Ki Manipulation: Dou Ki Manipulation: Most ki
users never fully take the time to understand their ki and the
two sides that ki has. Advanced users learn this though, and are
able to focus one side of ki depedent on them. The two sides of
ki are Dou ki and Sei ki, which are like two sides of a coin to
each other, and everyone is stronger in one than the other
usually reflected by their personality. This power is the power
of Dou ki, which is used by advanced ki users who focus a much
more aggressive approach than users of Sei ki, and often prefer
offense over defense in battle as compared to the more tactical
style of Sei ki. Users of Dou ki learn to harness their Dou ki,
and learn to focus advanced ki that is neither positive or
negative, but more about power vs defense. Dou ki is purely
about power over defense, and those that use this are able to
generate this power to amplify their offensive and ki
amplification abilities. Those that use this are typically much
more aggressive fighters than those that use Sei ki, and this
almost always shows in their personality. Dou ki users gain
power from anger, and gain more power from anger than Sei ki
users do. As a result, Dou ki users are much stronger typically,
and have better offensive abilities. However, it is important to
note that users of Dou ki are able to be countered more easily
by Sei ki, which acts like Dou ki's opposite. It is also notable
that it is a forbidden taboo to try and combine Dou and Sei ki,
as it can destroy a person to attempt to combine the two
contradictory powers (However, there is a forbidden art that
focuses on it, but this art is forbidden for a reason). This art
is used as more of a neutral power, and is not good or evil like
people might think. This is a training type that was devised by
humans to use their ki to it's fullest and harness their full
selves in their combat style.
- Advanced Mortal Ki Manipulation: Dou Ki Anger Amplification:
Users of Dou ki are able to use their anger and hatred to
amplify their Dou ki, in which the users of Dou ki focus this
into their advanced ki to make them much stronger. For Dou ki
users, anger seems to "explode" their power, and they gain a
large power boost when powering themselves on anger. This
amplification amps the user's ki amplification, and allows a
user to use advanced offensive abilities, as well as highly
enhanced ki amplification to allow the user to more easily use
their offensive power to overwhelm their opponent. Users of Dou
ki usually never stray from being offensive fighters, and are
usually more focused on overwhelming their opponents through
sheer force. As a result, those that use this ki amplification
can use this to focus their Dou ki more easily, and this allows
users to fight on a somewhat even playing field with other
advanced ki types like god ki and demon ki. It is worth noting
that Dou ki may be more powerful when it comes to offensive and
amplification power, but Dou ki is much harder on the body than
Sei ki is, and can take a heavy toll on the user if this ki is
overused. And as stated, it is important that one remembers not
to mix their Dou and Sei ki, which can do a lot of damage to the
body. Of course, as one might expect, this is only usable as
long as one has ki, and this style doesn't gain as much power
from calmness and peace like Sei ki users do. As such, Sei ki
users tend to be the counter to this power, since Sei ki users
are the opposites to Dou ki users.
- Advanced Mortal Ki Manipulation: Sei Ki Manipulation: Most ki
users never fully take the time to understand their ki and the
two sides that ki has. Advanced users learn this though, and are
able to focus one side of ki depedent on them. The two sides of
ki are Dou ki and Sei ki, which are like two sides of a coin to
each other, and everyone is stronger in one than the other
usually reflected by their personality. This power is the power
of Sei ki, which is used by advanced ki users who focus on a
more defensive and tactical approach than users of Dou ki. Users
of Sei Ki learn to harness their Sei ki, and learn to focus
advanced ki that is neither positive or negative, but more about
power vs defense. Sei ki is purely about defense over power, and
those that use this are able to generate this power to amplify
their defensive and focusing abilities. Those that use this are
typically much more defensive and tactical fighters than those
that use Dou ki, and this almost always shows in their
personality. Sei ki users gain power from calmness/peace, and
gain more power from calmness than Dou ki users do. As a result,
Sei ki users are much more defensive and focused typically, and
have better defense abilities. However, it is important to note
that users of Sei ki are able to be countered more easily by Dou
ki, which acts like Sei ki's opposite. It is also notable that
it is a forbidden taboo to try and combine Dou and Sei ki, as it
can destroy a person to attempt to combine the two contradictory
powers (However, there is a forbidden art that focuses on it,
but this art is forbidden for a reason). This art is used as
more of a neutral power, and is not good or evil like people
might think. This is a training type that was devised by humans
to use their ki to it's fullest and harness their full selves in
their combat style.
- Advanced Mortal Ki Manipulation: Sei Ki Calm Amplification:
Users of Sei ki are able to use their calmness and peaceful
emotions to amplify their Sei ki, in which the users of Sei ki
focus this into their advanced ki to make them more focused and
harder to take down. For Sei ki users, calmness seems to "focus"
their power, and they gain a large power boost when powering
themselves on calmness. This amplification amps the user's ki
focus, and allows a user to use advanced defensive abilities, as
well as highly enhanced ki amplification to allow the user to
more easily use their defensive power to avoid opponents. Users
of Sei ki usually never stray from being defensive and tactical
fighters, and are usually more focused on wearing down their
opponents through great defense. As a result, those that use
this ki amplification can use this to focus their Sei ki more
easily, and this allows users to fight on a somewhat even
playing field with other advanced ki types like god ki and demon
ki. It is worth noting that Sei ki may be more powerful when it
comes to defensive and focus power, but Sei ki isn't as strong
as Dou ki, but doesn't have the damaging effects that Dou ki has
on the body. And as stated, it is important that one remembers
not to mix their Dou and Sei ki, which can do a lot of damage to
the body. Of course, as one might expect, this is only usable as
long as one has ki, and this style doesn't gain as much power
from anger and hatred like Dou ki users do. As such, Dou ki
users tend to be the counter to this power, since Dou ki users
are the opposites to Sei ki users.
- God Ki User: Mortal Level God Ki Manipulation: In god ki
training, there are two levels of godly ki that people can
reach. The lower level of god ki training is the mortal level of
training that mortals who train with the gods reach after
learning to contain their ki and calm their minds. Once one
reaches this divine state, they are able to use a red or blue
god ki depending on their skil level. Typically, their god ki in
normal form is red, but godly forms and powers can take the blue
form of ki. Typically normal god ki is red, but stronger trained
users with godly power potential are able to use advanced blue
god ki. The main difference between the two is that blue god ki
requires concentration and stamina, while keeping a calm mind to
maintain the powerup, while red god ki is more about power and
doesn't require nearly as much power to maintain. These two ki's
are ways in the dragonball pantheon to gain godly energy, which
is most often obtained through godly training with either an
angel or god of destruction (However, the Kai's have their own
godly energy training that cannot be combined with this). If
using this, then using mystic power of the Supreme Kai's (such
as the potential unlocking of Elder Kai or training of Supreme
Kai) replaces this godly energy and the user instead gains
mystic ki, but those that train with a god of destruction or an
angel of the dragonball pantheon can gain god ki instead. There
are only very few people who can use both, such as Vaughn Black
who is both a supreme kai and god of destruction. This ki is
just like any other energy, just concentrated and more powerful
than most normal ki power. This is on the same level as other
advanced godly energies with enough training, though mortals
with this can never gain the full power of god ki used by full
gods unless they opt for becoming a full god of destruction or
some sort of other god of the Dragonball pantheon.
- God Ki User: God Level God Ki Manipulation: In god ki
training, there are two levels of godly ki that people can
reach. The higher level of god ki training is the godly level of
training that those who are full gods can reach after learning
to contain their ki and calm their minds. Once one reaches this
divine state, they are able to use a pink or white god ki
depending on their skil level. Typically, their god ki in normal
form is a pink color, but more powerful godly forms and powers
can take the white form of ki. Typically normal god ki is red,
but stronger trained users with godly power potential are able
to use advanced blue god ki. The main difference between the two
is that white god ki requires concentration and stamina, while
keeping a calm mind to maintain the powerup, while pink god ki
is more about power and doesn't require nearly as much power to
maintain. These two ki's are ways in the dragonball pantheon to
gain godly energy among gods, which is most often obtained
through godly training with either an angel or god of
destruction (However, the Kai's have their own godly energy
training that cannot be combined with this). If using this, then
using mystic power of the Supreme Kai's (such as the potential
unlocking of Elder Kai or training of Supreme Kai) replaces this
godly energy and the user instead gains mystic ki, but those
that train with a god of destruction or an angel of the
dragonball pantheon can gain god ki instead. There are only very
few people who can use both, such as Vaughn Black who is both a
supreme kai and god of destruction. This ki is just like any
other energy, just concentrated and more powerful than most
normal ki power. This is on the same level as other advanced
godly energies with enough training, with godly level beings
being able to use the full power of god ki that mortals cannot,
but as a result of being god level and using god ki all the
time, they use more ki this way, since they require more ki to
power their abilities.
- God Ki User: Unsensable Presence: God ki is quite different
from normal ki, and is not able to be sensed by others unless
they are specifically trained in god ki enough to learn to sense
god ki. This is more of a passive effect of god ki, where god ki
is only sensable by those that can sense ki, and those that can
sense godly energy. Usually, the only people who can do this are
other ki users who use god ki, as normal ki users cannot sense
god ki. This has the effect of making those that use god ki not
able to be sensed when they are in god ki modes, and their god
ki attacks can't be sensed by opponents that can't sense god ki.
It is believed that because god ki's training focuses on
internalizing ki and not letting it out of the body is what
causes one to not be able to sense it since the body is not
letting out that power for others to sense. This adds an
advantage to those that use god ki, in which their abilities are
much harder to predict without most opponents being able to
sense a god user's ki. This is usually at it's best when users
are in their god ki modes (which many develop as transformations
to go into godly ki states), in which their entire presence is
affected and their presence is no longer able to be sensed by
things like sixth senses or other presence senses (with a few
exceptions). This ability is not always the most useful, as it
affects both allies and enemies, unless the allies have god ki
training and have learned to sense god ki. God ki is very
difficult for mortals to learn to sense, and even those with
natural talents for training can have trouble learning to sense
god ki due to god ki's somewhat unique nature. This is true of
both mortal and godly level god ki.
- Mantra Ki Hindu Art: Mantra Prayer and Meditation: One method
to drawing a new type of ki is by infusing the power of Mantra,
a specialty of the Hindu pantheon, where they use prayer and
focus to generate a powerful energy they refer to as "Mantra".
Mantra is able to be combined with other energies for a unique
type of power, usually depending on the energy. When it comes to
ki users who use this, Mantra Ki is similar in nature to god ki,
but is actually a divine state that actually can put ki users on
the same level as those with godly power. This was designed to
be a powerful energy that can use it's positive and calm nature,
in which those that use this are able to focus energy used by
the Hindu deities. Usually, ki users with this are able to use
mantra to power up their ki, and sometimes even gain unique
techniques when infusing mantra into their ki, such as some
being able to manifest different mantra spirits using ki
techniques that can take the shape of the ki user's inner animal
spirit. Those that use this are able to focus their ki through
prayer and meditation, where they use prayer type incantations
to push out any negative emotions and power in them to reach a
divine state that can counter other, more powerful negative
states. Those that use this often use it similarly to god ki,
except that it's purely positive nature is not as harmful to
users of this power. Of course, the only downside to using this
power is that it requires focus, meditation and prayer to
maintain. If an opponent is able to throw someone off enough in
their emotions, users could lose access to this power
temporarily, and those that use this can only use this as long
as they have ki. And like god ki, this takes more stamina to use
than normal ki.
- Mantra Ki Hindu Art: Mantra Amplification And Abilities:
Unlike other ki types, Mantra tends to react differently based
on the person being amplified. However, the one thing that is
most noticable is the amplification of power that this ability
grants ki users that is unique to ki users of mantra. Because of
mantra's unique nature of requiring meditation and focus, and ki
user's usually being people who train to better themselves as
warriors and people, this combination creates a much different
kind of amplification than other powers like certain forbidden
arts. Unlike other, more dangerous ki arts, users of this are
able to focus and amplify their physical and supernatural
abilities far more easily than most, and are able to fight on
the same levels as some fighters with higher level ki user
powers without the same stress on the body that other powers
produce. Users of this mantra type often even gain unique
abilities through ki when using mantra ki, such as certain ki
users gaining divine ki or healing ki, as well as some having
unique techniques or transformations they focus when using
mantra. This is much harder to predict for people, since many
will gain unique kinds of mantra from this. However, the one
thing that is constant for this power is that only those who
have ki left can use mantra. The other thing to note is that
mantra users require a lot of stamina to use this power, as it
may not have a lot of physical strain, but requires a lot of
focus to maintain for long periods of time. While this isn't as
physically draining as some forbidden arts, it is draining on
stamina and energy if overused, so it should only be used
against stronger enemies.
- Mystic Ki User: Mystic Ki Manipulation: Those who are trained
by the Kai's, specifically those trianed by a Supreme Kai, can
develop this ki. The most common method to develop this power is
through the Elder Kai, who can unlock people's potential through
his own special ability, and this ends up being something people
gain from having their potential unlocked in combination with
their new power. This ki is somewhat unique, in that it is
something that works the same for mortals and gods, and can be
used by just about any race with the right training. This ki is
usually white in color, and usually has special properties based
on the person and the power they unlock when gaining this ki.
This also leads to certain kai art abilities, where certain
people can learn certain mystic kai magic used by the Supreme
Kai's, or learn certain kai arts used by the lower kais. This ki
can be used like normal ki, or used like god ki, but also has
uses through kai magic. Unlike god ki, a user's presence doesn't
"vanish" when using this power like it would with god ki, and
mortals are still able to sense godly power used by this mystic
ki. It isn't truly right to call this a "god power", but more of
a divine state that people can reach through training with the
Supreme Kai's and having their potential unlocked. This ki,
despite not being true god ki, is still countered by demon ki,
and it's direct opposite, maajin ki, which is a type of demonic
type ki that is used by demonic beings that use their own type
of ki magic that typically act as the demon realm's version of
the Kai's. This is an advanced ki type, and can also be
countered by other energies strong enough to counter this, like
other advanced ki types and other powerful enough energies.
- Mystic Ki User: Mystic Kai Magic: The Kai's, having developed
this special ability, have their own magic based around mystic
ki. This magic uses their mystic ki as it's power source, and
allows those trained in it to learn special kai techniques that
they use. The most often known ones are the Genki-dama and the
Kaioken, two techniques taught by King Kai who is in charge of
overseeing the part of the universe that involves places like
Earth, Namek, and some other planets. The Genki-dama is a unique
technique though, and requires it's own explanation (see Gen Ki
manipulation below). However, there are plenty of other
techniques, such as instantaneous movement, a teleportation
technique used by the kai's to teleport across the universe in
an instant (a better way of getting around that can travel
farther than instant transmission used by some). There are even
telekinetic arts that allow users to use ki magic to use
telekinesis abilities, which can blast people with telekinetic
power or be used to stun people. Another ability of mystic ki
magic is that those with this are able to materialize objects
out of seemingly nothing, a technique that the Supreme Kai's use
as part of their creation abilities. This type of magic also
allows the use of healing and resurrection by using the life of
someone else to bring someone back. Many techniques the kai's
use are somewhat strange to ki users, and some are able to use
other techniques as well, but this magic is still very useful
even if one only has the basic abilities, and some can develop
other abilities through things like potential unlocking that may
grant their mystic ki other abilities as well. Typically, this
is a type of ki that can vary from person to person, and can be
used uniquely more easily than other advanced ki types. However,
the one thing that is the same for everyone is that they can
only use this as long as they have ki, and mystic ki takes more
power than normal ki to use. It is also worth noting that users
can also be countered more easily by other demonic ki types,
including maajin magic.
- Sage Ki User: Genki Concentration/Absorption: This art goes by
a few names. After chakra users learned about sage art
chakra/senjutsu, some ki users learned of a similar type of ki
that is generated by living things around them. The first use of
this art was King Kai, who used this art to develop his own
special art using this genki power. Users then learned
eventually to absorb genki energy, in a manner similar to how
sage chakra users managed to absorb sage chakra. This led to a
new art used by ki users which became a highly advanced ki art
that ki users developed new skills around. This ki is stronger
than normal ki, and is a type of "pure" ki that has it's own
properties separate from the normal ki properties of Dou ki and
Sei ki (which are the two sides of normal ki). Genki is life
energy emitted by living beings, and, when used, users will find
that genki is able to do more damage than normal ki, as well as
ki being able to be absorbed to add further ki amplification.
Some advanced users have even absorbed genki in the past and
used it to break through their limits to unlock new abilities,
though usually because of life or death situations. This can
depend on the user, but many arts usually involve using genki
for a number of special arts and use it as an amplifier of
abilities. This art is much harder to master than many other ki
arts, but can be used by users to develop special abilities,
such as some who use genki to reach "divine states" where they
are able to tap deep into the limits of mortal potential. This
is not a god level power, but a modification of a godly art that
is now used among mortals. This ki is usually countered by other
advanced ki types, and some other advanced energies like sage
chakra can also more easily block or defend against this type of
ki manipulation. This type of ki has another weakness though, in
that only those who are not pure of heart can be hurt by this.
In order to make this effective, it has to be used on those with
evil natures, due to the "pure" nature of genki. This is usually
countered best by those of pure natures, but also by spirit ki
(see spirit ki user training) as spirit ki is a sort of power
that is similar in nature to genki, but can be used to counter
genki with spirit ki's unique nature rather than being it's
opposite like other contrary ki types.
- Sage Ki User: Genki Kai Arts: The genki arts are special ki
techniques used by genki users. Usually, the most known genki
art is the Genki-dama, also known as the spirit bomb. In this
art, users gather genki to create a large ball that attempts to
consume and destroy beings of dark or evil natures. The spirit
bomb is the best known as taught by King Kai, who is part of the
dragonball pantheon. There are other arts though that use genki,
most of which rely on the pure nature of genki to damage or
destroy those of dark natures. Those with evil natures take
heavy damage from genki attacks, and those that are hit with
things like the spirit bomb, could be killed if they are
incinerated by genki attacks, due to genki's ability to destroy
dark or evil nature completely. Of course, as one might imagine,
there are many ways to use this, and some even just use it to
amplify their bodies immensely rather than use special
techniques, usually useful against opponents that are not evil
in nature, since using it for amplifying physical stats allows
one to use genki just like normal ki amplification. The main
problem with this art is that it cannot be used against those of
pure or good natures, and can only be used to destroy those of
evil natures unless one is only using genki as a physical
amplifier. These arts can also only be used through absorbing
genki, and without absorbing genki, it is impossible to use
these arts due to the unique nature of genki. While almost every
living thing gives off genki differently from normal ki, it is
up to the user to absorb that ki, which requires focus and
concentration. This means that it is possible to interrupt
someone trying to absorb genki if they are attacked. Once they
run out of genki, they will revert to normal and be restricted
to their normal ki.
- Spirit Ki User: Spirit Ki Control: This is a somewhat strange
ki type that was developed on the planet of Yardrat. There
aren't many who have been known to use this ki type, due to not
many knowing about the existence of this ki type. This ki type
unites the spirit energy in one's spirit with the body's ki, to
create a combination of spirit and ki. This union creates spirit
ki, which uses properties of both ki and spirit energy to create
a unique power. Spirit ki is unique in that it is a type of ki
that can be used like normal spirit energy (meaning that spirit
energy users can learn this ki as well), or it can be used like
normal ki. The main draw to this ki training though are the
unique techniques that one can use. This ki requires not just
training of the body though, but also requires training of the
mind in order to use this effectively. Those that want to use
this must unite their spirit and ki through special training and
meditation, which is much harder to learn than most other
advanced ki types. Typically, this ki type also allows one to
eventually open the door to learning spirit user abilities, with
some spirit ki users actually also learning to use spirit energy
to more easily combine their spirit energy and ki. This type of
ki was developed by the people of Yardrat, and their techniques
often seem strange to many people, but their techniques are
still quite effective. However, just like most other ki types,
this is only usuable if one has the ki (and in this case, spirit
energy) to use to power this ki, and this is more easily
countered by other advanced ki types, particularly those that
use genki, though those that can counter spirit power can also
counter this as well, making spirit users another good counter
for this power. This ki type also require union of ki and spirit
through meditation, and not being able to unite their ki and
spirit through things like strong negative emotions can
interrupt a user's use of this type of ki.
- Spirit Ki User: Spirit Ki Techniques: The Yadrats, who
developed this spirit ki power, developed a number of techniques
using spirit ki that those who train with them can learn. The
most well known is a technique known as Instant Transmission,
which lets people teleport using places or people they lock on
to by sensing the ki of a place or person (They must lock on to
some sort of ki signature to guide them while using this).
Instant Transmission is even useful in battle, in which users
can teleport around the battlefield fairly easily, and can use
it to more easily avoid attacks. The other two techniques known
to be used by the Yardrat people are cloning and size
manipulation. By controlling their spirit and ki, they are able
to create clones of themselves similar to chakra user's shadow
clone jutsu, powered by spirit ki instead of chakra. These
clones work very similarly, and can even use the ki techniques
of the original, in which the user splits their ki and spirit
among the clones. The cloning technique is fairly simple, though
this technique is only able to be used with spirit ki, and
cannot be used with other advanced ki types. The cloning
technique also has the same weaknesses as other cloning
techniques, where power is divided among clones, so it is harder
to use effectively since it cuts one's power down depending on
how many clones are created (more clones means less power
between them and more energy consumed). The last technique
allows one to change their physical size by manipulating their
ki. This technique lets a user change themselves into a larger
creature, or a smaller one depending on what they want to do.
The size change is also able to change their weight, where
making one's self larger can use spirit ki to substitute the
weight of larger beings through concentration. This means that
changing size isn't just a cosmetic change, but is actually
useful to fight larger enemies. However, becoming larger takes a
lot of spirit ki, and this can drain a person extremely quickly
if used too long. Becoming smaller takes just as much ki, as the
spirit ki has to keep someone condensed in size. It is also
worth noting that these properties can be applied to one's ki as
well, in which users of this are able to modify the size of
their ki attacks using this technique, making it even more
useful. However, the same limitations apply, and this can take
more spirit ki to use if one isn't careful. All of these
techniques require spirit ki, but once used, these techniques
can help immensely in a fight. As stated earlier, spirit ki
requires meditation and concentration, and users have to keep
their spirit and ki unified in order to use spirit ki.
- Maajin Ki User: Maajin Ki Manipulation: In the demon realm,
lesser demons developed their own type of demonic ki, which was
designed to be the opposite of mystic ki. This was main used by
demon wizards of the demon realm, who developed this special
type of evil ki to use special magic techniques to use against
the Kai's of the dragonball pantheon. This type of ki is an evil
ki that acts like the opposite of mystic ki. Those that learn
this are able to use demonic type ki is drawn from the evil of
users, and users are able to power their ki using this evil
ability to do different things. This isn't as powerful as more
powerful demon ki, but is a great power to use if one wants to
use evil ki based magic, though they can also use this ki like
normal ki if they so desire. This ki is stronger than normal ki,
and is hard for mortals to master, but advanced enough users can
learn this ki. Typically, this type of ki is pink or purple (not
to be confused with god level god ki or god of destruction
energy), and this ki tends to be the opposite of mystic ki.
Users can only learn this through the demon realm, or training
with a demon of the demon realm. The main problem with this ki
though, is that this ki requires evil intent to use, and can be
difficult to control if used by those with good hearts, and even
those with evil hearts might be overwhelmed by evil intentions
if they aren't trained enough to use this ki. This ki, like the
others, can only be used as long as a user hasn't used all their
ki, and this ki requires more stamina and focus to use than
normal ki. This ki is also best countered by god ki and mystic
ki, as well as sage ki/genki.
- Maajin Ki User: Maajin Ki Magic: Maajin ki is the opposite of
mystic ki, which makes a maajin's ki magic the opposite of
mystic ki magic. The techniques for this magic are much stranger
though than mystic ki magic. Users of maajin ki magic are able
to do things that most people cannot, such as develop special
regeneration using their ki, use special magic techniques to
bring the evil out in people, or even warp space and time.
Typically, the magic used depends on the user, but most maajin's
usually have magic techniques they can use depending on who they
are and what their power specializes in. Warping space and time
is a common ability among maajin ki magic users, where they are
able to create the conditions and look of another place where
they are. One such example is making a room one is fighting on
into another planet's surface or a part of the demon realm,
where certain areas can have certain effects on the person.
However, it is worth noting that this only changes an area, and
doesn't change what world they are on, but more changes the
world using a pocket dimension style space that creates it's own
area. However, users have to take heed that if an enemy is
affected by something, then they will be affected as well, since
they are subject to the same rules as the user, such as a user
warping and using the conditions of a planet with stronger
gravity will affect the user and the opponent. Another common
use of this power is being able to regenerate using ki, in which
users can regenerate almost any damage as long as they are not
completely destroyed. This is similar to other supernatural
regeneration types, but uses maajin ki magic to power this
ability. It is worth noting that mystic ki or god ki can counter
this power more easily, and mystic ki magic is the opposite of
this ki magic type. However, users of other ki types or energy
types can also counter this with the right stategies and energy
use.
- Demon Ki User: Demon Ki Generation: Demon ki is the opposite
of god ki, as one might expect, which focuses more on an outward
explosion of power using the body's concentration to use ki
amplification to an extreme, as well as learning to tap into the
dark energy in the body to create a ki that is all about pure
power. Demon ki is much stronger than normal ki, and stronger
than most god ki users due to demon ki's nature being opposite
of that of the more concentrated nature of god ki. Demon ki is
much more chaotic in nature, and is harder to control than
normal ki or god ki, but the benefits of controlling or using
this ki mean that one is able to use a ki that is able to draw
out the power of a user forcefully. This ki is usually purple or
black, or sometimes pink in nature, and is the highest level of
ki used in the demon realm. Unlike god ki, there is no lower
level training or higher level training limit, as anyone can
develop this skill and eventually use it as well as demons. The
only difference is that demons who use this are able to generate
this ki at less cost and are able to more easily able to control
this power, while mortal beings will not be able to use this as
easily and require more power to draw out the dark energy in
their bodies. This ki is far more powerful, but wears out the
body far faster than god ki would, as the body has trouble
handling the power of this ki. While demons can use this ki
longer than mortals, even demons will damage their bodies the
longer they use this ki. As such, it is best to use this ki in
short bursts, or only use it in desperate situations. This can
also only be used as long as the user still has ki, and this ki
is also more easily countered by god ki or mystic ki (though god
ki is usually the best thing to use against this ki).
- Demon Ki User: Demon Ki Overwhelming Pressure: In combination
with the dark energy drawn from the body, and the sheer power of
the ki amplification used in demon ki, users of demon ki have a
very strong presence. Unlike users of god ki who are not able to
be sensed by others, demon ki users overwhelm other ki users as
their presence is such a strong level that it can cause
opponents significant discomfort. Users of demon ki give off
such a strong presence that those that can sense energy,
presences or sense ki are unable to fully concentrate, and may
even get headaches and light-headed from trying to sense a demon
ki user. In addition to the chaotic nature of demon ki, this can
be useful to demon ki users, as they are able to throw off their
opponents while using this power. Users will find themselves
unable to concentrate when overwhelmed by this presence, and
those that use things like sensing presences or sensing spirits
to predict opponents will be even more affected and unable to
use their ability to predict opponents. Most users experience
this differently, such as some might get blurry vision, or some
might be unable to concentrate due to the pressure they sense,
or some may get a headache that keeps them from fighting at
their full potential. However, it is worth noting that this only
affects those with weaker ki, and those with strong enough
presences can actually resist this ability to a degree. Users
can also avoid the effects of this by cutting off their ability
to sense presences completely, though this is risky as users
won't be able to sense anything while they are cut off (assuming
they can do so). As stated, this ki is a very dangerous ki to
use, as it is just as dangerous to the user. While they are not
affected by their own power sense, they are affected by the ki's
effect on the body that puts enormous strain on the body. God ki
is also much more easily able to counter this ki, as god ki is
demon ki's opposite. God ki users are also less affected by this
overwhelming presence, since their presences are not too
different, just much more calm.
- Genki Devouring Forbidden Art: Genki Devouring: No one knows
who or what race came up with this forbidden art, but this art
almost instantly became a forbidden art when it was discovered
among ki users. Instead of genki users who strive to become one
with the ki around them, genki devourers seek to make all genki
theirs. This art uses genki very differently than genki users,
as this art is focused purely around devouring genki life
energy. This not only includes devouring genki though, but also
eating normal ki as well. Users of this learn to devour energy,
and are able to devour almost any ki or energy used on it's own.
Usually, the most used art of this is devouring genki or life
energy drawn from the environment, but also learning to absorb
ki from other people through physical contact, as well as
absorbing the energy emitted from their auras (eating energy
from their auras doesn't hurt or affect the opponent, as the
user just devours the energy emitted from the aura that is
usually emitted into the environment around them). This art is a
very dangerous art, and considered one of the most deadly arts
in ki user history. Even among demon realm users who use ki to
create creatures of evil or use ki to power certain regenerative
abilities, this art is forbidden due to the dangerous nature of
this. Those that use this technique pay a price for their
devouring of genki, in which they can grow more powerful, but
they also become dependent on devouring genki, otherwise they
will get weaker and eventually die without genki. Users of this
art are also typically hunted down by gods and demons alike, as
those that use this art are seen as abominations. While most
users are not easily overwhelmed, some can be overwhelmed by
strong energy as well, and some are not able to devour certain
kinds of energy, such as mystic ki and maajin ki not being
devourable by this technique (as it's believed their magical
nature has special protection against this power). This can
devour almost any kind of life energy from someone, unless used
alongside another power like mana can be devoured unless it's
used with magic. This makes energy users next to useless against
those that use this art, but those that use things like magic or
certain special arts can counter this type of power. Opponents
usually have to be touched for this to be used on them, though
the environment can have power absorbed without physical
contact.
- Genki Devouring Forbidden Art: Genki Ability Gain and
Regeneration: Those that use this art developed this art for the
purpose of growing stronger through devouring the strength of
others, as well as being able to gain new abilities based on the
life energy they devour. Those that use the devouring art are
able to gain new abilities through devouring one's life energy,
in which they can gain the energy temporarily, or gain it
permanently if they devour enough life energy from someone.
Those that do this are able to gain abilities in the same way
that vampires gain abilities from drinking supernatural blood,
in which they gain abilities through devouring energy instead of
things like drinking blood. This art is designed to help ki
users, who aren't afraid to take lives, survive on other's ki,
and grow stronger without having to always train their own ki.
This does still work like some other power gain abilities,
except that ki users mostly only gain abilities through ki and
not through any other type of energy as they cannot devour
things like spirit energy, chakra or even chi. They are only
able to devour ki, and gain powers only through ki. If a person
doesn't have any abilities through ki, or their ki isn't strong,
it usually won't be worth taking, so users of this art usually
have to hunt down strong ki users to get the most out of this.
Those that gain power through this though also gain the
weaknesses of those they gain power from, such as certain ki
powers they might gain through power gain will have the same
weaknesses (similar to other users of power/ability gain). Some
abilities may even change the physiology of the ki user
slightly, such as some having learned to use this to maintain
their youth to keep them from getting old.
- Seidou Ki Forbidden Art: Seidou Dual Ki: This forbidden art is
a lot more known than other ki forbidden arts. Almost every Sei
ki or Dou ki user has thought about trying this at some point,
in which they would try to draw on both Sei ki and Dou ki at the
same time to try and balance themselves or power themselves
heavily. Those few that have managed to make a style out of this
have done so at great risk to their own physical wellbeing.
Those that have successfully used this style are able to use
both Sei and Dou ki, mixing them together into Seidou ki, which
grants both properties of amplification using advanced ki
training. Those that do this are able to use a special style of
combat which amplifies the body far more than normal Sei or Dou
ki training, and can use special combat styles to fight
opponents and draw far more energy than normal. However, this
comes at a great cost, as very few can do this without utterly
destroying their bodies. The physical toll with this style is
the main downside to using this style, as not many are able to
use the sheer power this style commands without extreme physical
strain that will ruin the body the longer this style is used.
Once learned, this style is not an easy one to master, and
requires balancing both ki's to even attempt combining the two.
Usually, users can only draw on one type of ki, with the other
being minor in the person, but thsi style teaches how to draw on
the the user's other side of their ki as well to combine the
two. Since this style exerts great physical strain even on the
greatest of users, there aren't many people who are able to use
this effectively, and doing so has become a taboo among advanced
ki users due to the effects of this power.
- Seidou Ki Forbidden Art: Seidou Goitsu Style: This style is
used around the Seidou ki, and is the combat style of those that
use this forbidden art. When the style is used, it amplifies the
body's abillities far beyond their limits, and allows much more
powerful techniques to be used. However, the main use of this
particular style is the combat style, where users focus their ki
into their physical combat, and generate the power through a
special physical combat style that allows them to focus on power
over anything else. When used, this style is all about
overpowering opponents by combining aspects of the defensive
style of Sei and the aggressive style of Dou to create a style
that is able to use both defense and offense at the same time.
Those with this style are often able to take hits without even
flinching, as their bodies become harder through their combined
ki amplification to the point where they are difficult to damage
with anything but one's strongest attacks. Typically, users of
this style are able to punch through things most opponents would
struggle with, and some have been known to get strong enough to
punch through mountains and even destroy buildings with a single
blow with the power they exert. Because of the combination of
defense and offense, one's best strategy against this style is
to wait, and wait for the user to be forced to power down, as
this style cannot be used for long due to the enormous strain it
develops. While some have found a way to lessen the strain and
use it longer, usually they have to sacrifice a degree of power
and defense to lessen the strain. As such, most opponents best
strategy is to outlast the user, who will wear themselves out
very quickly with this style.
- Forbidden Art: The Path of Asura Destructive Ki: Normally, ki
users are about bettering themselves and training to push them
past their physical limits so they can advance as not only
fighters, but also as individuals. However, ki users who go down
what ki users refer to as the "Path of Asura" only care about
using ki for one thing: Killing. Users of this path eventually
learn to use their ki somewhat uniquely, in which their ki
becomes an explosive energy that almost seems to causes wounds
to burst open when a user lands a blow. This fighting style is
designed around focusing ki into attacks, and then having that
ki burst open when in contact with an opponent. As one might
guess, this style is meant only for killing opponents and does
far more damage than normal ki users. Most ki users use this
like normal physical ki techniques, but instead of just hitting
an opponent with a ki technique, their ki bursts on impact with
an opponent to create much more destructive force. As an
example, experienced users have been able to punch a person's
chest and the resulting force can cause the fist to be able to
punch through the chest due to the amplified force of impact, or
the impact could cause the blow to open the wound wider than
normal. How this is used is dependent on the style, but ki users
know that this is a very deadly style that is forbidden among ki
users. Typically, Dou ki users and demon or maajin ki users are
the most likely to go down this path, since they are usually a
lot less reserved about killing. This style is forbidden for a
reason though, because once one starts down this path, they
become addicted to battle, and to killing, often never being
able to get close to anyone due to their lust for killing and
their desire to fight anyone that is in their path. Some users
are able to be much more calm and use this effectively, but
those that do use this are often considered dangerous and taken
down if other ki users encounter them as walkers of this path
are seen as evil due to their desire to do nothing but fight and
kill.
- Forbidden Art: The Path of Asura Killing Blow: Ki users who go
down the Path of Asura are able to assess their opponent's ki,
and are able to see every weak point in the person they are
fighting. This means that users of this style are able to see
the flow of energy in someone, and are able to see points in the
body that would be more devastated by attacks than others. For
example, a ki user would use ki, and both ki and chi work
through the same points as chakra using chakra points so
attacking those chakra points would cut off someone's use of
that energy. Users of this are able to assess this based on
their opponent's flow of energy and what type of energy they
use, in combination with their own ki techniques that are able
to do far more damage. As one might guess, users of this style
are extremely dangerous because they can not just go for
pressure points or vitals, but can go for points that focus
energy. Usually, users of this can assess their opponents as
they fight, seeing all of the points and flow of energy the
opponent uses, such as some opponents who might use one chakra
point more than others, and users of this style would attack
that chakra point to cut off most of the user's power, or
attacking a less important vital but with far more killing
effiency. Users of this style focus their ki into smaller
attacks, where they don't appear to do as much physical damage
until their ki attacks burst and do the increased damage. As
such, it is usually best to avoid the blows that are used to
disable opponents, and some opponents can use strong shields and
armors, assuming the user of this art doesn't have armor
piercing abilities (which many do). Typically, calm defensive
fighting styles are usually best to counter this since they
usually can focus on letting an opponent wear themselves down.
Typically, users of this style are very aggressive in combat,
and can be outlasted by more patient fighters. Users of this
style may also be vulnerable to the same types of attacks that
the user uses, such as a ki user could try and replicate a
user's ability to attack points and use similar styles to
disable users of this style from focusing this. This power can't
be shut off per se, but if one is forced to shut off their ki
sense, then they can't use this ability.
- Forbidden Art: Mantra Soul Absorption: During a time when
mantra energy started to dwindle, certain hindu pantheon
worshippers started to figure out that their mantra had started
to get weaker. As a result, those that focused mantra had to
find a way to focus new mantra. The only problem with the method
some came up with was that it required refining souls, in which
some users started taking souls through sacrifice to refine the
souls into more powerful mantra, which did work for a time.
However, this soon became a forbidden art when it became known
that this was destroying the balance of souls in the afterlife,
and quickly became forbidden. However, there were some that
continued to use this mantra art despite it being forbidden.
Once users use this, they start using souls to forge stronger
mantra, and absorbing the power of the soul that they take
through this method. In doing so, they strengthen their mantra,
similar to how genki devourers gain power through devouring
genki. However, this uses souls instead of life energy, and
absorbs power through souls. While this doesn't do anything like
draining someone of power if they don't devour souls (like some
soul devouring arts do), it does require mantra users to keep
powering up their mantra in order to maintain stronger levels of
mantra. Those that use this are often considered to be on the
same level as other soul devourers, and are usually hunted down
just like genki devourers due to the danger this art puts on the
balance of life and death. And those that take enough souls may
one day have to worry about Death or Toranoraos putting a stop
to their soul absorption if they take too many souls.
- Forbidden Art: Mantra Amplified Soul Form: Those that take the
souls of others are able to use that soul power to power their
soul forms, a form that gains enhanced abilities when absorbing
soul power from mantra. This runs on absorbed mantra from
refined souls, and gives users a more powerful ki transformation
that usually grants special abilities based on the use of this
power. Because of it's power and how it runs, it is usually
strong enough to overpower many types of advanced energy users,
and this power is even able to absorb soul energy and spirit
energy through physical touch. While that energy mostly goes
into powering this form and granting energy to use the form's
techniques, this art is dangerous due to it's higher power and
the unique techniques that usually come with it, such as some
growing extra arms to attack with, or some gaining special
techniques like ki claw slashes. This is another power that is
unique to everyone that uses it, so they gain different
abilities through this power. The one thing that is consistent
though is that users of this always have to be aware of the fact
they need soul power to run this form and use their mantra ki,
as this power eventually becomes completely dependent on how
much soul power is put into the mantra. Users can learn better
mantra control and generation techniques, but overall, the main
trouble with this power is that it becomes more and more
dependent on souls, with each soul granting diminished returns
on how much power is put into the mantra, meaning that more
powerful and experienced users of this art require far more
souls to make this power work properly than those that just
start out and aren't as powerful.
Weapon Ki Styles: (These are just currently known styles, and
not the only styles based around ki. Users can create their own
ki styles. This is just for those that don't feel like coming up
with a new style.)
- Kukoenjin Style: This is a mostly defensive weapon style, one
that uses ki in both the body and weapon in order to defend
oneself. This style is not focused around movement, but in
standing one's ground and blocking the attacks using minimal
movement. Users are taught how to redirect attacks upon
blocking, and use their weapons to redirect attacks. This style
focuses more on patient fighting, and trying to use the
redirected force to knock an opponent off guard. Ki in this
style is not focused into attack, but instead focused into the
blade to strengthen it, so that it can redirect stronger attacks
without worrying about breaking the weapon. The body can also
use ki hardening techniques to try and reduce the damage of
attacks, where the properties of ki defense and ki hardening are
utilized to their fullest. When the user is able to knock an
opponent off guard, the user then attacks the opponent with
their counter attack, usually after an opponent as exhausted
themselves or are open to attack. This style is purely
defensive, and only focuses on offense in that moment when the
style is used to counterattack. Because of the style's nature,
this is usually taught to those with a lot of stamina and focus,
as this style focuses on outlasting an opponent. This style
doesn't necessarily need a lot of speed, and only needs speed to
keep up with the opponent. Because the style is more about
remaining stationary, the user doesn't have to do any crazy
stunts, and just focuses on defense and counter-attack. This
style is perhaps the simplest to use, because of it's simple
nature, and doesn't require too much ki master or combat
mastery. However, masters of this style have become tanks, and
can often redirect attacks far stronger than their normal
fighting styles would allow.
- Rasetsusen Style: Also known as the Swirling Blade Style, this
style of ki user is focused around mobility and slicing using
momentum. Usually, this style is focused around spinning
attacks, where users learn to use momentum to their advantage,
focused by ki to amplify one's cutting ability using a weapon.
Users of this style have a focused and more agile style, and are
trained to use their momentum alongside their ki for stronger
and more agile attacks. By using more speed in their attacks,
they use ki to make up for the slight lack of power and are able
to fight using a balanced style of weapon combat. Users of this
style have developed a number of techniques, with the most
notable ones requiring a spin to build momentum and then doing a
powerful strike move with a weapon that has focused ki. When
combined with certain ki movement abilities, this style becomes
a very powerful style that can keep someone in motion and can
allow for extremely quick reactions in battle and powerful
strikes. The major downside to this style though is that the
spin usually gives away the attack, making this style very
predictable to those that become familiar with the style.
Another major downside is that, while powerful, it is not as
strong as some other weapon styles, as this style was designed
for mobility over strength. This is usually used by more agile
fighters, and isn't really designed for power. However, this can
be fixed with more refined ki, as more refined ki users are able
to focus stronger ki into this attack style if they can land a
hit. However, the predictable nature of this style can be a
hindrance at times with smart opponents that figure out how this
works, and the power doesn't compare to much stronger styles.
- Ryuenjin Style: Also known as the Fire Blade style, this style
is focused around the power of ki, and instead of focusing the
ki into the blade to make a more focused blade, the ki is
focused through physical power into a blazing state, where the
ki looks almost like a flame around the weapon. Users of this
style focus their ki for pure physical power, in which this can
focus the power of a weapon using ki to an extremely high level.
This style is focused around pushing the ki into a weapon and
using it's max ability, in a manner similar to demon ki, but
instead is a more focused style that easier to use than demon
ki. This style is also useful defensively, where users of this
style are able to defend against more powerful attacks by using
the more powerful ki as a way to dampen attacks used on users of
this style. As such, the defensive nature of this style also
allows users to use this blazing ki like a shield, where more
experienced users can sometimes even knock certain types of
projectile attacks back at the opponent by using the ki to
prevent the attack from making contact with them and their
weapon, and using the more powerful ki to reverse the attack.
This ki style is heavily favored by some faster ki users, as
this style has been used to help train some faster ki users in
physical strength. The main downside to this style is that the
blazing ki has much more weight to it than normal ki, and users
of this style are slowed significantly when using this style.
However, users can compensate for this with speed training, and
as they get stronger, they can offset this disadvantage.
However, this style is not as focused in speed as other styles,
so users who use this style tend to focus more on durability,
defense and being able to take hits so that they can keep in the
fight and hit back more often.
- Shippuuga Style: Also known as the Hurricane Blade style,
users of this style are purely focused around movement, and use
ki to amplify their movement in combat. Unlike the Rasetsusen
style, this style is mostly based around movement and mobility,
not so much about attack. This style uses agile and swift motion
using ki to help amplify the combat style, usually allowing
users to do things like performing dash attacks and certain
other manuevers that help them avoid attacks and get around
opponents to attack them from better positions. Typically,
combat in this style is focused around stabbing motions using
weapons and ki, and while not focused around piercing, some
users can eventually learn to focus ki into their blades to
pierce armors or barriers using stabbing attacks if they can use
a powerful enough ki attack. This style is more about avoiding
attacks and then moving in close when the opponent is
vulnerable. Users of this style are taught how to move more
effectively using ki, and when combining this with certain other
ki movement methods, users can move extremely fast using this
style. Users will find that this style favors agility and speed,
as well as defense, but doesn't favor physical strength. This
style uses stabbing motions with concentrated ki mostly as it's
compenstation for the fact that it is not able to keep up with
high strength users. However, users are often able to compensate
for this with proper attack focus training, and lighten this
weakness a bit as they learn to focus their ki into attack
points.
- Tenkuuha Style: Also known as the Aether Style, this style
focuses on slicing through attacks by concentrating ki into a
weapon to pierce through attacks. Typically, this is done
through focusing the ki to the weapon and then using that
concentrated ki to split almost any substance in a manner
similar to the Shingetsu style of swordsmanship, except that
this style focuses more around users who do this by focusing
their ki, and the more refined their ki is as they train, the
stronger this style becomes. When starting out, this may not
seem like a strong style, but as a user becomes more experienced
and gain more refined ki, they are able to attack with swifter
and stronger strikes that have more ability to pierce.
Experienced users have even managed to cut through some of the
hardest materials in the world, like adamantium and katchin (a
metal known in the dragonball pantheon as the strongest metal in
the known universe that is an alien metal). This style is all
about focusing ki and concentrating it for better piercing and
attack, and users of this style are able to concentrate enough
to cut through shields and armor with strong enough attacks if a
user isn't using strong enough energy defense. This is even able
to cut through energy attacks and defenses with enough
concentration as well, in which users can cut through things
like barriers and energy walls. However, the main disadvantage
with this style is that it requires focus and concentration, so
users may have a hard time focusing certain attacks if an
opponent keeps them on the defensive, as this is a more
offensive style of ki for attacking and defending against energy
attacks more than defending against physical attacks.
- Kurenjin Style: Also known as the Flying Shadow Blade style,
this style focuses on ki waves and attacking opponents from
medium range where most fighters wouldn't be able to attack.
This style focuses ki from weapons when attacking, and focuses
them into a projectile attack similar to those that use
shockwave style attacks. Since many fighting styles are unable
to attack at longer range, this style focuses on attacking from
not only close range, but from medium range by firing projectile
attacks from the weapon. This style works by focusing ki to the
blade, and then using focus to turn the ki in a wave that can be
fired from the force of the weapon. As the weapon uses the force
of attack, the ki is focused into the wave and creates a
slashing wave of ki that can attack an opponent at medium range.
Users are able to focus the physical force of their attacks into
this style as projectiles in this fashion, and can utilize this
to transfer the force of their attack across short distances.
Masters of this style can focus their attacks further, and can
focus stronger attacks as their combat style gets stronger.
Because this style is focused on transfering force rather than
creating it though, the power of this style is only as good as
the weapon style of the user. While this can be used pretty
effectively, and deadly weapon wielders can make this a very
deadly style, the style requires advanced weapon skill alongside
advanced ki manipulation. This is not as easy of a style to
master as one might think, and requires heavy training to
master. While one would naturally want to default to this style,
it is not a style one can learn until they have reached a high
enough level, so most users cannot start out with this style.
Physical Ki Based Combat
- Turtle School Martial Arts: This combat style is taught by the
turtle hermit, Roshi. This style is focused around building up
the body's stamina and ability. This style uses the focus that
the body is the basis of physical combat techniques, and seeks
to strengthen the body through intense training to build
durability and stamina. This style often trains using heavy
weights, and focuses more on stamina training than on power.
However, users of this style can gain powerful combat as a
result, where many have come out of this training with immense
strength and speed from certain training. Most users of this
style use weights to train their body, with more advanced users
keeping these weights on all the time in order to make training
easier. This style also focuses on using ki-based combat for
defense, and not for attacking or killing opponents. This combat
style is fairly basic, and usually manages to bring stamina and
durability up to very high levels due to the style's focus on
it's stamina training. However, there are some things to note,
such as the style also focusing ki into powerful waves like the
Kamehameha, where users of the technique will launch a large
wave of pure ki that is usually strong enough to blast through
opponents, and can even destroy opponents if the user is
stronger than the opponent. This style is mostly defensive in
nature though, and focuses on not hurting others unless one's
life or another's life is in danger. This style's major weakness
is the overpowering styles, like ones that focus on pure
physical strength and speed, as some opponents with certain
strength and speed based styles can overpower this style.
However, advanced users often learn ways to counter strong and
overpowering styles, with some users having special techniques
to deal with stronger adversaries. The biggest danger to the
style though, is the Crane Style of ki combat, which was
designed solely to break the Turtle style defenses as a more
lethal and offensive variation of the Turtle Style, and the
Demon style was favored as well to break through defenses with
overwhelming power, making it dangerous as well.
- Crane School Martial Arts: Starting out as a variation of the
Turtle Style, this style focuses on it's energy attacks to
overpower and take down opponents. This style focuses more on
combining energy based ki attacks that utilize ki, and makes
this a much more offensive style that was originally designed to
break the defense of the Turtle Style. Those that learn this
will learn certain energy beams that one can fire during combat,
and learn stronger ki attacks to use against opponents. There
are certain techniques that this style uses that was designed to
break through defensive fighting styles, as this was designed
specifically for that purpose by the creator of the fighting
style. This style used to focus more on killing opposition, in
which the user was taught how to strike pressure points in order
to kill an opponent more easily, but later users of the style
modified it so that it was less lethal, and more about beating
an opponent rather than killing. While either version of the
style can be learned, the old killing style is only used by
those who favor ki use for things like assassination, while the
main style is what's taught to new ki users. This style also
manages to be quite agile and fast, due to it being designed to
be a killing style originally. These days, some other defensive
styles have learned to combat this style, though most defensive
styles can be broken if they don't know how the Crane style
works. One such example is the Kami School Style of combat that
is able to find ways to predict and counter. Usually, more calm
and collected styles can eventually out-manuever this style,
though it typically takes knowing what one is up against, and
how to counter the offensive power of the style.
- Wolf School Martial Arts: Originally developed as a style for
bandits, this style utilizes speed and was created by those
trying to create a style that was replicating the
characteristics of a wolf attacking it's prey. This style is a
variation of a Kenpo style, in which the user learns many
variations of striking moves that replicate certain wolf attacks
like a claw slash or a wolf bite, modified into their punches
and kicks. This style is often seen as incorporating the spirit
of the wolf into the style, which some uses have done well
enough that there also exists a new, more skilled style of this
style called the Neo Wolf Fang Fist which some advanced users
have learned (which is mostly just a faster and stronger Wolf
Fang Fist). This technique utilizes the air waves around an
opponent, usually for techniques like the Wolf Claw, which uses
ki to generate physical force that creates a claw slash-like
wave. This style is focused on speed more than defense or
offense, and is quite powerful among advanced users who have
learned to focus their ki amplification more effectively. This
style can be a dangerous style when used by those who learn this
style, and like the Crane style, can be used to cause fatal
damage to opponents if one wants to push this style to a deadly
effect. However, this style doesn't opt for that, usually only
using the wolf fang fist to strike points to disable an opponent
rather than slashing them like some advanced users will do.
Overall, those with this style usually have to learn precise
control if they don't want to kill their targets, as this style
can be deadly if not controlled properly. After the original
user incorporated elements of the Turtle style into this style,
it became far more balanced between offense and defense, and now
opts for a balance somewhere between the Turtle Style and Crane
Style. But as such, both styles have defeated the Wolf Fang Fist
style in the past, though the Wolf Fang Fist style has also
defeated those with the Turtle and Crane style as well, usually
depending on the skill of the user.
- Namekian School Martial Arts: Namekians, who are different
from humans, have a very different attack style. Typically,
their style is based around movement and agility, but also on
focusing their striking abilities. Like some other styles,
Namekians usually focus on mixing their energy attacks into
physical combat, using them at times when they have an opening.
However, the most dangerous thing about the Namekian's combat
style is that a Namekian or similarly trained shapeshifter can
change the length of their limbs, such as reaching across a long
distance to grab someone and pull them into an attack. This
makes the style extremely hard to predict, due to the Namekian's
having alien bodies and having unique physiology. Because of
this, they tend to focus on using it in battle, and have natural
ways of taking advantage of this in combat. Usually, this could
be as simple as grabbing someone from a distance, or using their
limbs to extend an attack. They typically focus on agility and
speed, but do have special ways of attacking opponents. In
addition to their energy attacks, Namekians use an art of
focusing their power into a single point, focusing their power
into a small and more confined space for more damage to an
opponent. This was designed since many of the Namekians are
weaker than other races, and was designed to bridge the power
gap that exists. As such, this skillset is more about evening
odds against tougher opponents, and works great against superior
opponents due to it's focus on assuming enemies are stronger.
However, only shapeshifters that can do so in battle can usually
take full advantage of this style.
- Kami School Martial Arts: Originally devised by a former
guardian of Earth, this style is designed around calmness and
meditation more than training one's physical power. Before one
can use this style, the training style requires one to learn to
move with precise movements, such as training exerise that
require users to move without ringing bells attached to their
limbs. The first step is to get a user to focus precise
movements. Once mastered though, this is a far faster and
stronger style than some other styles of combat. This style is
very difficult to learn if one doesn't have the ability to sit
still and calm their minds, but those that do can learn this
style. In addition to the weight training that typically is used
in many ki training, there is another training that one must go
through to use this style. This lead to the most important
ability this style teaches, which is sensing life energy. Not
only does this give one a great connection to their inner self
to help them often know what they need to grow stronger, but
this also leads to them having such a powerful sense that they
are able to use this ability to sense energy around them to
predict their opponents. Because of the style's heavy use of
precise movements and predicting the enemy, this is a style that
only more calm people are able to learn, and advanced users that
be able to combine the precise movement, calmness of the mind,
and the inner senses to fight almost any kind of opponent, as
this style was designed for countering heavy offense styles.
This style focuses on dodging, redirecting attacks and
counterattacks, rather than simple defense, though one still
learns defense in this style. This style has also been known to
allow one easier times learning the dragonball pantheon's godly
fighting styles, due to the style having a lot of the same
concepts to god ki training. However, man advanced users of this
style will often opt to combine this with sage ki/genki
absorption/manipulation, or mix it with Sei ki manipulation
which combine quite naturally with this style. This style's main
competition though is the Demon Style, which was designed to
fight this style. Certain other styles can beat this style as
well.
- Demon School Martial Arts: This style was originally devised
as the counter to the Kami style, as the two people who used
these styles were two halves of the same being. This style is
similarly focused in precise movement like the Kami style, but
instead of being focused on calmness, this style is focused
purely in using that precise movement to hit opponents with far
more force. This style is focused on utterly destroying
opponents, which is why some more advanced learners may go on to
learn certain darker styles of advanced ki arts. Just like the
other styles, this typically focuses on combining ki attacks
with physical attacks, but this style mostly focuses on how to
bring the power out in a fighter. Whether it's speed, strength
or flexibility, this style focuses on using the precise
movements to a much more dangerous effect. This style was
designed to counter the Kami style of prediction and calmness,
meaning that this style was designed specifically to counter
those that use their combat senses and abilities to predict
someone's attacks, and also counters those that gain their power
from calmness, as this focuses the same amount of power, but
through precise movements. This style was originally designed,
like the Crane Style, to kill an opponent rather than defeat
them. However, this style was at some point redesigned to allow
a non-lethal substyle. Some advanced users of this can go on to
learn certain power-based advanced arts, like some more
dangerous people may go on to learn the Path of Asura combat
training, or some less who don't opt for a killing path may
learn Dou ki manipulation that uses this far more naturally.
This style, like the Crane style, is designed specifically to
overpower opponents and break through defenses. It's main
defense is the Kami style, which many have trained specifically
to fight this style as their main enemies due to this style
often attacking users of the Kami style.
- Maajin School Martial Arts: This style was favored by the
Maajin of the Demon Realm. Users of this style focus solely on
ki magic, as ki magic is the main focus of the Maajin. When
used, Maajin focus purely on physical amplification, and not
much on energy based manipulation. Instead, they focus their ki
magic into physical amplification, whether it's power, speed,
agility, or defense. Some have been known to learn to harden
their muscles to the point of being able to resist sword strikes
with their bare skin, while some focus on amplifying their speed
to move beyond the limits of most combat styles, or some may
even focus on using enough physical strength to create immense
destructive physical force. Because of this, each user of this
style typically focuses on something different, though many are
focused on speed and strength. Some even learn to use ki magic
for regeneration, giving them an advantage in combat. Many users
of this style do not focus on ki attacks, but can use them as
necessary. However, the main use of this style often
incorporates physical shockwaves of power, whether it's
generated by pure strength, or by moving at immense speed to
generate far stronger kinetic force. Users of this style focus
on their physical amplification and usually have to tune their
bodies to handle the amplification, meaning that only those that
have strong bodies can handle this style at a certain level.
This is a style that can damage a user's body, but the physical
amplifications are usually seen as worth the risk. This is
something many in the demon realm opt for, as it's a powerful
combat style, and often goes well with maajin advanced arts and
demon ki advanced arts. This style is mostly defeated by styles
like the Kami style and Turtle style, which focus on defense and
countering anything the opponent can throw at them, though this
style can be used by some advanced users to overpower defensive
styles with enough training. However, even learning how to break
defenses, the Kami style and Turtle style are still among the
best styles to use to combat this style of training.
- Saiyan School Martial Arts: The Saiyan style of combat is far
more basic than many of the other styles. This is perhaps one of
the most balanced styles of combat, in which Saiyans typically
focus on all of their combat abilities. Since Saiyans utilize
their natural combat talents that most of the race has, they are
able to utilize their combat much more naturally. Those that are
trained by Saiyans with a natural combat talent can learn this
style though, as it requires only a natural combat and a
willingness to learn a Saiyan's combat style. This style focuses
more on using emotions for different ki amplification, such as
anger being able to power up one's ki for ki amplification, or
using calmness for a different kind of ki amplification. This
style focuses on a balance of offense, defense and
counterattacks, and typically focuses on agility and power.
While not as focused on power as the Crane or Demon schools,
this style is focused on power, speed and agility, and taught to
use the full power of one's body in combat to defeat opponents.
This is another style that focused on killing opponents rather
than defeating them, so this style was modified into a
non-lethal substyle over time as well. This style doesn't focus
on things like predicting opponents, but rather it focuses on
powering through anything the user can throw at an opponent
through sheer strength and determination, as Saiyans often fight
for fun, rather than in self defense or for specific killing of
opponents. This style is usually countered best by styles like
the Namekian style or by styles like the Kami style. Typically,
this is a much more balanced style, so it doesn't focus too
heavily on just one stat, but the style can still be countered
by more skilled styles. When it comes to the Saiyan style, it's
fairly simple and easy to learn, but hard to master without
experience in combat, so most users with combat talent will
require a lot of battles to master this style.
- Shaolin School Martial Arts: While Shaolin usually focus on
chi, some do use ki, and some do opt for learning variations of
the normal Shaolin training. As such, almost all of the Shaolin
combat styles have been adapted into ki styles, where one uses
ki instead of chi in order to combat opponents. There are many
styles of Shaolin combat, each with it's own specific combat
style, with some being focused on agility, some on defense, some
on power, and some on counter attacking. The Shaolin have
modified these styles to work with ki users, and some ki users
have opted to learn these styles for themselves. As such, a user
can often learn any of the Shaolin styles, including the
forbidden Lion style (granted they find someone to teach them
and the person can handle not destroying themselves with the
style's premise). Any of the Shaolin's styles can usually be
converted into ki use combat styles, even ones used by dark arts
chi users. Each style has it's own strengths, but every one also
has it's own weaknesses. Usually, Shaolin combat styles have an
added benefit though, in which most of the Shaolin learn their
combat styles for other benefits, such as some opening up the
body's flow of energy, or some that might allow training for
more flexibility. Each combat style has it's techniques that
focus on combat, but most also have special training which has
secondary effects that help the user operate more effectively
from day to day, which is the main reason most people learn
these. For example, the dragon style not only can not only use
it's combat style, but this style also sterngthens the mind and
the body's spiritual development through training. This depends
mostly on the style, as each one is different, and each one has
it's own effects. However, each one typically has counters, such
as ones focusing on power may be countered by more defensive
styles, or flexible styles might be more easily beaten by
speed-based styles (Users should list which style they're using
and it's strengths and weaknesses).
- Self-Movement Divine Style (Also known as Ultra Instinct):
This is often seen as more of a transformation than a fighting
style, but the basis of this is still meant to be a fighting
style. It is very rare for anyone to gain this power, but some
select few that have trained have learned how to do this. This
divine art is one of the highest forms of martial arts that even
those with natural combat talents cannot master easily. This
style focuses on the art of training the body to react to danger
without requiring sending signals to the brain, and focuses more
on moving the body purely on instinct. Very few ever master this
style outside of the angel race of the Dragonball pantheon. Once
learned, users of this are able to react to danger without
thinking, allowing them far more speed in battle, but also a
great defense as the body focuses more on avoiding attacks.
However, only masters of this style are able to use the full
strength of combat. The main problem with using this is that it
requires an entirely empty mind, not clouded by any emotions or
thoughts, as emotions and thoughts will conflict with this
style, which his the biggest reason people are not able to
master this style. Usually, no matter how clear the mind is,
emotions and thoughts are present in the back of the mind, which
conflict with this style, as this even requires controlling the
subconscious mind. Certain prodigies are able to use the
imperfected version of this style which is highly defense, but
not able to attack with as much strength, and only a select few
can master the full style. However, this style is not perfect
despite being the ultimate deity fighting style in the
Dragonball pantheon, and not every attack can be dodged as the
user has to have the strength and speed to dodge an attack. This
style can still be countered and combated against with other
combat styles, though typically it requires users to be a
certain level above the user. For power balancing purposes, use
of this style is limited and cannot be gained through simple
martial arts intuition skills or other instant combat gain
skills. To use this style, one must get permission so that power
balance can be regulated with the style. This style is rare, and
masters of the style are even rarer.
- Flying Ki Step: These are the combat styles of movement used
with most of the ki combat styles. Every good combat style
requires a user to have a way of moving around efficiently at
it's base, so these two techniques are often used. The first is
the flying ki step, sometimes called the Hienkyaku (Flying
Swallow), uses ki to push the body's movement, even while in
midair. While most combat skills would have limited use in the
air, this combat style allows a user to change their movement
direction and speed with their ki steps even if they are not on
solid ground. This step is usually very necessary for ki users,
as it is usually among one of the training they must use before
they learn to fly, which requires focusing ki to the feet. This
style requires using ki at the feet, but also pushing ki to
other parts of the body when required, such as focusing ki to
the hand in order to use it to grab an attack so a user can jump
over it, using the ki around the hand and arm to focus the
movement. This style is a very basic movement style that users
can use to boost themselves in battle, and advanced users learn
to combine this with the flight ki skill to allow them more
mobility in airborne combat, which is very useful for this skill
since many ki users will often fly during combat. Of course,
this style's main weakness is that the user has to be careful
how much power they put into this, as some less experienced
users of this have broken their legs trying to use too much ki
in this particular movement style. If not properly regulated,
users can damage their bodies, which is why this often requires
heavy training before using it effectively.
- Puppet Ki Step: These are the combat styles of movement used
with most of the ki combat styles. Every good combat style
requires a user to have a way of moving around efficiently at
it's base, so these two techniques are often used. This is the
second movement style. This style uses ki to move the body like
a puppet, which boosts the body's movement speed when used. This
can allow for quick responses in battle, and can allow users to
move extremely fast when used properly. The main draw to using
this style is that ki users can move even after parts of their
bodies are disabled, as it allows for good movement even when in
dangerous situations. This style is also able to be used when
flying, as a user can change their trajectory and direction of
movement while using this, just like with the flying ki step.
This style is more about forcefully moving the body, rather than
just using ki to boost the movement, so the body is typically
forced to move faster than it is used to moving when using this.
However, due to this, this particular movement style requires
even more precision and ki control than the flying ki step, as
not being careful while moving can break, even shatter, bones in
the body when trying to move using too much force. Users have to
learn to limit and control the movement, and learn what their
bodies can and cannot handle in order to use this effectively.
However, some advanced users can use their aura to move their
body, with some advanced users being able to use their auras to
sponge some of the excess force generated by this movement so
that the body isn't under as much stress. This is a simple style
to learn, but hard to master due to it's precision and danger to
the user.
Passive Abilities:
- Ki Defense/Attack Spirit: Ki users learn among the very first
things how to use their ki for defense and attack, which leads
to them learning how to use a ki defense similar to other
techniques like haki and Pai Zhua attack spirits. Ki users with
this ability are already defensive once they learn how to use ki
defense, but they are also able to naturally attack people in
different forms, such as those that take elemental or intangible
forms. Thanks to this, users of ki learn to do this much more
naturally than other energy users, making them able to attack
users. This means that certain form shifting abilities to avoid
damage aren't really of much use against ki users unless the ki
user is out of ki. As long as the ki user has ki, this skill is
a passive skill that all ki users learn upon learning ki defense
and can use it without having to concentrate like most energy
users. The only downside to this is that this can only be used
against those that have weaker energy than the user, as stronger
energy cannot be as easily broken. The ki hardening and ki
defensive techniques also don't allow much change in the
defensive nature since the techniques for ki defense and
hardening are specific techniques. However, this is still useful
against opponents who use things like elemental forms, since ki
is used for amplification of one's abilities at all times.
- Emotion Ki Strengthening: Depending on emotions, ki can be
temporarily strengthened by strong emotions of the ki user.
There are two main emotions that are normally used to do this
which are reflected in the two sides of ki, which are anger and
calmness. While other emotions can be used to power up ki,
nothing matches the level that calmness and anger have on ki, in
which both can have unique effects on ki and boost a ki user's
abilities considerably based on their emotions. Anger can
temporarily increase power immensely, intensifying speed and
strength until the anger subsides, which usually doesn't last
too long, as the standard anger reaction is around 8 seconds
(meaning usually not more than one or two combat rounds). Anger
is best used as a rage, in which users who use their anger or
hatred to boost their power. One doesn't have to be evil to use
anger, as it is just a reaction of ki to the emotion, since one
side of ki responds heavily to anger. Calmness is the other end
of the spectrum though, where the user doesn't gain power but
control when they have managed to calm their being. When calm
and concentrated, less ki is used, and defense and offense take
less power, making them more effective. Typically, calmness and
peace are used to help the body focus rather than using anger
for an explosion of power. For calmness, it is used to focus the
body's ki and make overall ki use and amplification more
effective. Depending on how emotions are used though, there are
other emotions that can provide specific amps, depending on the
emotion and how it interacts with ki. This can also relate to
certain other special kinds of ki, such as advanced ki training
like god ki or demon ki. This is more of a passive
amplification, and only happens when certain emotional
conditions are present and strong enough to affect a user's ki.
This amplification is usually pretty basic, unless used for
advanced ki types, in which advanced ki types often have unique
effects when combined with this. Some races, like Saiyans, even
gain special boosts from this ability, or may even gain new
abilities from this.
- Pure Energy Power Resistance: Every ki user, by training their
ki, often gain resistances to pure energy, usually supernatural
energies that would be used against them. Because of the use of
energy that they use in their ki hardening and defense, users of
ki gain a passive resistance to other supernatural pure
energies. As such, this grants them resistance to a lot of
energy based attacks, and some slight resistance to things like
elemental effects. Typically, users of ki are able to protect
themselves and reduce damage done to them to a degree thanks to
their training. For example, many ki users can move through many
forms of fire without suffering too many burns like most people,
and they can usually resist energy attacks. This comes with
their training, and is a passive ability as long as they have ki
amplification active. Usually, when it comes to ki, this
protects against any kind of energy as long as it is weaker than
the ki one puts out. Once someone encounters stronger energy, no
matter the energy, the energy can usually break one's ki and do
normal damage. However, this passive resistance to energy is
very useful, and allows users to use this resistance to their
advantage if the energy is below a certain level. However, this
only works as long as one has ki, and doesn't protect against
aura breaker techniques and weapons, and some energy based
powers like magic and elementals can break through this passive
resistance much more easily than energies like ki, aura, or even
spirit energy. This power does require ki, and once the user
runs out, this resistance stops. Users can build this resistance
through training, and improving their ability to generate ki,
but ultimately, this only grants resistance to energy at or
below the user's level of energy, as higher energies will break
this resistance.
- Ki Enhanced Injury Recovery: While ki users don't have
regeneration, they do recover much more quickly than most normal
people would. By controlling their ki, a ki user's injuries heal
up extremely fast, with small cuts and bruises healing within an
hour. Since ki is more about defense, this doesn't grant
regeneration, but it does speed up the body's natural recovery,
meaning it's not useful for things like regrowing limbs or
healing injuries someone wouldn't normally be able to heal. This
enhanced recovery cannot heal fatal injuries quickly, with most
ki users still not being able to heal deadly injuries. This is a
passive skill, which does require the body to have life force to
maintain it. While it may sound intimidating that it uses life
force, it uses a minimal amount, and is what the body normally
uses life force for, which is to fix damage it can fix. If the
user runs out of life force, then this healing will stop, though
running out of life force usually means near death or death
anyway, and usually only reaches that point when one has fatal
wounds. However, those that master ki can use this to even slow
their aging, since the recovery can help heal the effects of
aging. While no one can age backwards with this power, those
that use it can prevent themselves from aging quickly if they
want to. This ability can however, be slightly interrupted by
aura breaker weapons, as aura breaker weapons can interrupt ki
use and ki defense, and advanced ki types may require conscious
effort to use if one wants to use them to heal more quickly,
which some advanced users can do (AKA something like genki can
heal some ki users of genki).
- Immune to Power Negation/Stilled Silver (Select ki types
only): Human ki users who don't have supernatural abilities are
not affected by power negation when using ki abilities. This is
because ki is a natural human ability that even normal beings
can use, since ki is usuable by almost all beings, including
humans. Humans who use this are able to use this without having
to worry about power negation, since this is not a supernatural
ability when used by normal humans, and simply is something that
allows humans to fight stronger beings. However, this only
applies to normal humans, as any supernatural or god level
opponent still has to worry about power negation since advanced
uses of ki like god ki and sage ki can be interrupted by power
negation, as can most of the advanced ki abilities. For the most
part, humans with ki abilities (that aren't supernatural in
nature) are immune to power negation, which also means they tend
to be immune to metals that negate power like stilled silver.
Though this doesn't mean that human ki users are not immune to
aura breaker weapons and powers, as these still affect a human
ki user like any ki user. This only applies to basic ki types,
as advanced ki types are considered supernatural in nature since
they are much stronger abilities that use supernatural power to
use different ki types.
- Ki Training and Enhancement: Like most energy users, ki users
have to train their ki, which is the only way to enhance their
ki. Ki users have to train their bodies to utilize more ki, and
to use ki more effectively. This requires ki users to train with
their ki as much as they train their bodies, as well as training
their mind which controls their ki. Through a combination of ki,
mind and body training, the user is able to grow their abilities
to use ki. Depending on the ki the person has, their ki can be
stronger or weak, depending on the person and their previous
training and abilities. Though having weak ki is not something
that makes someone weak, nor does having strong ki automatically
make someone strong. The only thing weak or strong ki determines
is how much of a passive amp the ki user gets in their abilities
through training, with stronger ki users getting a smaller
growth to their abilities through training. There is advantages
and disadvantages to both. The main one being that weaker ki
users grow in power more quickly as they train, but don't have
as much of an amp to their abilities to start with, while
stronger ki users gain more of an amp, but don't gain a lot of
power when they train once they reach a certain level. Both have
their advantages and disadvantages, and one is not necessarily
stronger or weaker than the other. Training one's ki is the only
real way to increase their ability to use ki and to decrease
cost of the ki they need for attacks and amps. Those with
natural ki affinities can grow more quickly, but overall, the
amount of ki one has to start with usually determines whether
they grow more quickly or require heavier training to grow. For
example, Saiyans usually are born with high power and ki, so
their growth is usually slower than some beings, and they
usually have to train harder at higher levels to gain any new
power, while humans at a lower level may be weak, but will grow
far more quickly.
- Ki Inner Focus and Limit Sense: Through heavy training, ki
users develop an inner sense of their own power. Because this
requires the mind as much as the body, ki users usually have to
concentrate inward to bring their ki to the surface. As such,
most ki users get a sense of their own ki, often being able to
sense things like when they're getting close to unlocking new
abilities through ki, or if they're needing to put themselves in
a life or death situation to push them beyond their limits. Some
more advanced users can sense when new powers are trying to
awaken, and some advanced users can more easily draw these
powers to the surface under the right conditions. Because ki
users often focus on drawing their ki to the surface, this makes
drawing out their hidden ki abilities a bit easier depending on
the person and their abilities. However, this isn't always as it
as it might sound, as some ki abilities may require pushing past
one's limits in a life or death situation, or may require
specific situations or opponents to face before they can call
that power forth. The main use of this though, is that many ki
users use this to figure out when they hit a limit on their ki
abilities and then try to find ways to push past that limit so
they can start getting stronger again. In a sense, this allows
ki users to grow beyond many other energy users, but at the same
time, requires harsher training on the body at higher levels.
Some users gain this more effectively through things like the
Kami style of ki combat which focuses heavily on meditation, and
the god ki style which focus on internalizing ki. However, some
more dangerous ki users like the Path of Asura users may have
their own ways of forcing their ki abilities to the surface
through their own powerful pull of their ki, though usually at
cost of danger of destroying their bodies in the process. Each
ki user has their own methods of doing this, as some have other
unknown methods as well. For example, Namekians get stronger
through meditation rather than training, as they are more mind
focused, or Saiyans may require battling opponents stronger than
them to awaken certain abilities. Usually for most beings
though, a simple focus inward is usually what they use.
- Ki Power Level Control and Power Suppression: Those that
control ki are able to control their power level, suppressing or
even containing their ki. This lets a ki user control how much
power they put out, mostly so they can hold back from overusing
their ki on weaker opponents. This makes it so they don't have
to concentrate on holding back and helps them hide their true
power levels if they need to. This ability is designed mostly
for training, as ki users often use this to weaken themselves in
training so they can gain better training from weakening
themselves slightly, such as using power restraints, and some
races even using transformations to keep themselves in a weaker
state. However, this also has another use in that those with
this can learn to suppress their power level, and hide their
presence from people should they choose to. This makes it so
that those with sixth senses or other senses that sense
presences cannot sense a ki user when they are completely
suppressing their power level. They are also able to contain
their ki in their body, though this is mostly learned in god ki
training or sage ki training rather than normal ki, and can do
damage to the body if one doesn't do it properly. This also
doesn't do things like negate the sound one makes, or make them
invisible (unless they have techniques that do so). This is
usually more for training, and may require specific training
depending on how one wants to learn how to use this (like those
that use transformations to weaken their power for training may
have to have transformation abilities).
- Enhanced Senses and Ki/Power Level Sense: Thanks to ki users
amping their bodies with their ability to use ki, this also
enhances users' senses, with all of their senses being enhanced.
The exact enhancements are different for each person, much like
other races enhanced senses, as this is never a constant
upgrade. Some may gain enhanced sense of smell, or highly
enhanced sight. Though most ki users get a fairly balanced
upgrade to their normal senses. However, ki users also gain a
special sixth sense for sensing ki and power levels of other
creatures. This is very useful for sensing the life energy of
others and usually sensing how powerful they are (Unless they're
able to hide their true power through things like
transformations and other energy suppression techniques). This
works with almost every living things with a few exceptions. For
the most part, ki of living things can be sensed, with exception
of certain ki types like god ki and sage ki, which can only be
sensed by ki users with specific training on the ki and have
actually used the ki to know how it feels. This means that if
someone goes into a god ki transformation (like Super Saiyan
God) or into a sage ki mode (similar to sage mode chakra users
use), those without those kis cannot sense their presence
change. Ki users can not also sense ki from artificial life
forms unless they generate ki specifically in their bodies (like
cloned beings being able to generate ki, or robots with ki
generating cores), but most robots are not able to be sensed
since their energy cores work differently. Sensing life energy
can be difficult among certain situations, and things without
life usually can only be sensed if they have ki specifically as
not all energies can be sensed with a ki sense.
- Ki Meditation Focused Telepathy: This ability lets a ki user
communicate telepathically with anyone they can connect to,
using their spirit to connect to others if they know where they
are. Typically this power uses their mind's focus, in which they
use it to tune to a person if they know where they are in order
to communicate with them. This lets them communicate with other
people without having to speak, with them being able to share
thoughts directly with others. However, usually the ki user has
to know where the person is to use this since they have to know
where to connect to. However, this doesn't apply to those who
establish permanent connections, such as connecting to other
family members through some shared ki that can be used to
establish a permanent connection. This lets ki users not only
communicate with those they have a permanent connect with, but
can also tell them where they are at any time should they
require to find them or need to be summoned to them (which they
would normally need to use their ki sense to track people).
Those who are set up with permanent connections have to accept
the connection, and even then, they can sever it if they choose
to. Users without permanent connections must know where the
other person is, and must be able to telepathically communicate.
- Ki Meditation and Mind Protection: Through meditation, ki
users are able to block out outside influences, designed to be a
meditation method to help ki users focus their ki and train
their mind. This helps ki users reduce how much ki they need to
use, and helps the ki user grow in their ability to use ki as
they learn the right meditation methods. This also makes ki
users immune to mind manipulation, as this meditation creates a
protection around the user's mind and allows the user to learn
to block out specific influences, and works similarly to powers
like disciplined mind or iron will. Unlike some who can still
enter someone's mind even if they're forced out, it isn't
possible to enter a ki user's mind or affect their mind at all
when this protection is active, as some ki users even use their
life force to create a specific protection of ki around their
mind. This uses the mind and the body's life force to protect
the mind, even if that's not the actual purpose of this
meditative training. This also lets the user manipulate their
own mind, concentrating and influencing their own emotions using
their life force in their mind, usually to help them enter the
right emotional states to use their ki. Though they can't enter
their own mind's inner world like some mind manipulation users
can, as this is not designed to enter the mind's inner world,
just control the mind in a basic way. This also means that some
psychic abilities can still affect them, like ones that attack
the nerves, and some users can fall prey to illusion abilities
if they are not trained to see through illusions specifically.
- Enhanced Combat and Ki Trained Physical Stats: Ki users are
typically highly trained in combat and ki amplification. Just
like any other energy user and combat trained person, users of
ki usually have enhanced physical combat stats based on their ki
level and amplification. Users of stronger ki will have stronger
stats, while some more combat trained users of ki will have more
concentrated physical stats. This depends on the person, as
their natural abilities are typically amplified through their
training they undergo. For example, Namekians are usually weaker
in combat, so they tend to focus on speed, agility and their
precise striking points to take out stronger opponents, and
Saiyans usually have more power than other races due to their
natural affinity for combat. This is different for everyone,
usually dependant on their training and physical stats. Just
like many forms of physical stats, focusing on one or two stats
usually grants a bigger boost to stats but at a cost to having
lesser amounts of other stats (AKA speed and power may mean that
defense and stamina suffer a bit), while focusing on balanced
stats means that opponents are less likely to have trouble with
not having specific stats at a certain level, but may not be
able to reach certain points easily with stats to those that
train in specific stats (IE a user trained specifically in speed
could overwhelm a balanced stat user's speed if their stats
aren't specially focused).
Transformation:
- Enhanced Ki Modes: Many ki users gain enhanced ki modes
through training (usually through advanced ki). These ki modes
depend on the user, though many will gain specific ki
enhancements based on the ki they use and the mode they enter.
For example, god ki mode will enhance one's strength immensely,
and they will gain enhanced abilities to use god ki while in
their mode. Some other ki modes might include sage ki or genki
mode, where one absorbs genki or sage ki to power themselves up,
and this might gain them specific abilities through sage ki to
use the ki of the environment around them. These ki modes are
usually gained through advanced ki training, and the ki modes
gained almost always correspond to the ki that one uses. For
example, a sage ki user is not suddenly going to gain a demon ki
transformation for no reason, unless they are somehow trained in
demon ki and combine sage ki and demon ki somehow. Some may even
have unique ki types and transformations, depending on their
abilities. Usually, the most common ki transformations are the
god ki, demon ki, and sage ki transformations, which are well
known for their powerups, though some less known ones are dou
ki, sei ki, and spirit ki transformations gained through other
advanced training. However, these ki modes, while more powerful
than their normal forms, require ki and stamina to maintain, and
some who have these transformations at stronger levels may
require more ki and stamina to maintain a transformation.
Without the ki or stamina to maintain the transformation, one
will not be able to hold these forms, no matter what form they
use. All of these forms use stamina and ki, with almost no
exceptions.
Weakness:
- Ki energy users still have race weaknesses of whatever they
are regardless of the ki they use. If one is something like an
angel or demon, they will still have typical angel or demon
weaknesses. Most ki users can be killed just like whatever race
they are, and unless stated otherwise, most races can be killed
if their heart or brain are destroyed. Each race has it's own
strengths, yet has it's own weaknesses. Ki users are no
different. Typically, ki healing can help recover from wounds,
but this is not a passive regeneration, meaning that one has to
concentrate in order to use it. Of course, ki energy users still
take damage from attacks just like any other creatures. Ki is
typically favored by people who start out weaker than stronger
users, as this art became known for it's ability to help someone
grow in both body and mind. This kind of training is usually
favored by humans, but is also used by some other races as well
that utilize ki as well. Typically, most mortals that use ki
still have the same weaknesses of whatever race they belong to,
even if they get enhanced defense using ki, and their ki
abillities and amplifications can only go so far.
- Ki users are usually more easily countered by counter natures,
such as dou ki users would be more easily countered by sei ki
users. Typically, ki natures and abilities all have counter
abilities, even the advanced ki types. For example, demon ki is
countered by demon ki, and mystic ki is often countered by
maajin ki. Every nature and ability has some form of counter in
ki use, but also some other energies can also be used to counter
ki. For example, chi is a power very similar to ki, and can be
used differently, but ultimate can counter ki as well. Other
energies like spirit energy, aura, and chakra can also be used
to counter ki if one has strong enough energy. As such, almost
any energy can be used with certain exceptions. Certain
exceptions would include those that use life energy devouring,
who are able to devour life energy, making life energy attacks
on them pretty much useless. As long as one's energy is at a
certain level, one can find ways to counter ki attacks if one is
creative enough. For example, a chi barrier is just as effective
as a ki barrier, or a mana beam can be used to counter a ki
beam. Typically, techniques using ki are countered best by other
energies, and one doesn't have to be a ki user to understand the
natures of ki. While the dou ki and sei ki may seem confusing to
people used to talking about things like positive and negative
spirit energy or similar energies, dou and sei ki aren't too
difficult for people to understand and can lead to users finding
ways to counter these energy types. The hardest ones to counter
are the forbidden arts, which are still counterable if one knows
how they work.
- Ki users can only use ki techniques and their ki abilities as
long as they have ki. Without it, none of their ki techniques
work, save the ones that use life force, which can kill the user
if they use too much of their life force. Running ki users out
of ki is the best way to fight them for most ki users if an
opponent doesn't have any real plan to break a ki user's ki
defense and amplification. Without ki, any ki user will be
without power, unless they have a way to replenish their ki.
Some users can replenish their ki, but often require specific
ways to do it. For example, sage ki users can replenish their
supply of sage ki, but require absorbing ki from nature to do
it, which takes concentration. Overall, without ki, a user will
lose all of their amplification and ability to use ki
techniques, often reducing them to their base stats as a being
unless they have other abilities to boost them. Most users are
severely weakened if they lose their ki, and will not be able to
fight at their peak efficiency. Usually once out of ki, users
usually are close to being out of stamina as well, which means
that once one runs out of ki, it is usually time to retreat for
use a life force technique (That will often risk the user's
life).
- Typically, ki users have to rely on being stronger than other
energy users, as many of their defenses require the opponent to
be at their level or below. While fighting higher level
opponents can help them grow once they have pushed past their
limits, ki users are more easily taken down by people with
stronger energy than their ki. If they encounter a user with
stronger energy attacks, their attacks can break through one's
ki defense and amplification, or one can use other techniques
that ignore energy defense/amplification. There are a few
techniques and fighting styles some have developed for taking on
stronger opponents, but many of these require heavy burdens on
the body, such as the Crane School's Tri-Beam/Kikoho can be used
on stronger opponents to restrain them, or some other techniques
might be able to overpower stronger opponents at the cost of
some life energy. However, these techniques don't usually work
against certain situations, such as aura breaker weapons, which
work on any ki user, or dimension cutter attacks which can work
on any energy user that doesn't use similar distortion energies.
Because of this, ki users have to be careful when fighting
opponents stronger than them, or else they could get
overpowered.
- Ki requires a strong body and a sound mind to use. If a user
is not balanced, or they cannot focus properly, the user may
have trouble focusing their ki, just like many energy types.
Typically, ki is drawn out by emotions, and if someone is unsure
of themselves or suffering emotions that counter their specific
natures (IE Dou ki users not being able to summon up strong
emotions), then this inteferes with their natures. Not being
able to remain balanced is the biggest cause of weakened ki use,
whether it's because someone tries to use a ki nature they
aren't meant to (IE a dou ki user using sei ki), or a user just
not being able to keep themselves balance due to not being able
to commit their emotions properly to maintaining their balance.
Dou ki users rely on heavy emotions, which means that they have
to use these heavy emotions. Typically, weaker emotions result
from them doubting their abilities, or not being able to
concentrate a strong enough emotion to use their abilities. Sei
ki users require calmness, and if one can keep them from
focusing, whether through making them doubt themselves, or just
making the user not able to focus properly to use their own ki.
Typically, both sides of ki require specific ways to use their
ki, and interrupting it has the same effect, in that their ki
will weither weaken, or in worse times, might even not work.
This means that users have to be careful and constantly train to
keep their mind and body properly ready to use their abilities,
as even their body not being in peak form could cause their ki
to not work properly if their bodies are too exhausted or
damaged, since the body generates ki in the first place.
- Just like some other energies, drawing too much ki could risk
killing the user, or hurting them severely. It's bad enough that
trying to draw too much ki energy can drain a user completely,
but if one still continues to push beyond that point that one is
out of ki, then they will start to pull on their vital life
force, which can kill them if they use up their life force.
While life force is stronger than normal energy, it is also far
more dangerous to use. If a user runs out of life force, they
will usually die from it. While ki is about pushing one's limits
and drawing one's inward power outward, over-using ki can still
cause damage to the user. If a user overstrains their ki, they
can do damage to their body, and if they damage the parts of the
body that generate ki, their ability to generate ki could be put
at risk. Ki in the body uses the same points in the body as
chakra and chi, which all use chakra points usually. As such,
these points being damaged could damage the body's ability to
use energy if ki energy is not used properly, or is overstrained
on the body. Typically, this is very dangerous to any ki user,
as all ki users cannot generate ki attacks without chakra points
and a flow of ki in the body to release into creating ki
attacks.
