Hei lets her take some of the Chinese food he had brought. He
continues eating.
Meanwhile, Drake continues reading the paper since he couldn't
eat.

Danae: So, what's your story? I take it that y'all are some
vigilante hunters or something.
Danae ask to break the awkward silence. Danae shows that she has
a Southern accent from Louisiana (which my dumbass forgot to
mentioned earlier). Although Danae is grateful, she wants to
recover enough so she can leave ASAP and head back to her
destination. She wasted enough time being poisoned like an
idiot.

Hei: I'm the Black Reaper. I kill criminals and corrupt
politicians, anyone who prays on the innocent. I save people
from time to time when I take out criminals. I'm also a Hell's
Gate guardian. He explains. The part about him being a Hell's
Gate guardian would be strange, since Hei clearly seems to have
his emotions still (even if they're hard to see).
Drake: I'm just a bone dragon. I don't get involved in Hei's
assassin deal. I just hang out and support Hei when I can. He
explains.

Danae: Interesting.
Danae silently use her powers to try to get a read on the two.
Although Hei did save her ass, she doesn't trust him. Not fully
anyway. Besides, people don't just save people out of kindness
or some form of code. There's always a catch. She learned that
the hard way back in Brazil. After finishing some of her food,
she begin to stretch. She's not fully 100% better, but it's
manageable enough for her to keep going.
Danae: Thanks for the hospitality, but I believed that I
overstayed my welcome.

When it came to reading Hei and Drake, Drake was the easy one to
read because he didn't really hold back who he was. Drake was a
well meaning person, and loyal to his friends. While Drake was a
bit nervous around Danae, it was mostly because he was still
also trying to get a read on her. Drake had no nefarious
motives, other than just being a sarcastic a*shole at times when
he states his opinion. Danae would be able to sense him as a
bone dragon, with darkness and fire elements.
But Hei, he was the hard one to read. His tone and mannerisms
were almost completely controlled, as though he sought to
control every aspect of his personality. He seemed to be hard to
read, but also there was something beneath the surface where Hei
had a hard time connecting with people since he had no social
skills. Hei does sense as a vampire and as a Hell's Gate
contractor. But Danae would be able to tell immediately that Hei
was not like normal contractors because Hei was able to act on
emotion rather than logic like normal Hell's Gate contractors.
This was evidenced by him trying to control his emotions rather
than act on them, whereas a contractor wouldn't be held back by
emotions.
Hei: It's up to you. I'm not going to stop you if you want to
leave. He says as he continues eating.
Drake: Look. I don't know what's going on, but you were
attacked, yeah? Without knowing why, there's a good chance
you'll be attacked again. And that poison you were hit with
seemed pretty tough. Hei sounds like a jerk, but I don't think
he really wants you to leave, and I don't either. He says to
Danae telepathically.
Hei looks over to Danae.
Hei: I'm not a jailer, Drake. I'm not going to keep her here if
she wants to leave. He looks to Danae. I can tell by that look
in your eyes that you don't trust us and your first instinct is
to run. I can respect that. Caution keeps us alive. And you're
right to be cautious, especially around a Hell's Gate contractor
like me. But Drake is right that you'll be attacked again.
Ultimately, it's your decision on what you want to do, but just
think through what is the best decision.

Danae doesn't relax around the two after she has done the
reading. Sure, she doesn't sense any malicious intent from the
two and Drake seems more vocal about what's on his mind. And the
two do seem understanding of her situation. But it's not enough
to bring her guard down. As for the guys (mainly Drake), Danae
does give off that she's a witch with dark magic, which isn't
too far off from the truth. Although Drake was able to sense
some demonic presence from Danae, Danae is able to suppress her
demonic origin to the point that they would believe that she may
have learned some demonic magic (which she has) or made a pact
with one... which is common for some witches. Overall, Danae
doesn't trust the two. She's not ungrateful, but she's not
letting her guard down. Like everyone else in her life, she is
keeping them at an arm's length. She is similar to Hei in a way,
but Danae is more of keeping things to herself and hardening her
heart.
Danae silently listen to the two as she makes her way to the
door. Although her hand is on the doorknob, she doesn't twist
it. As much as she hates to admit, Drake makes a good point. Not
only she hasn't fully recovered, but she has no idea who the
hell is after her and why. Putting herself out there will
endanger not only herself but others if she doesn't find out who
the hell is behind this. Not to mention her other problem.
Softly groaning in frustration at the situation, Danae heads
back to the chair but doesn't sit back down yet. She'll hang
back for now, but she doesn't trust them. Not yet.
Danae: I'll need some time. Not only to recover, but some time
alone. I need to figure some things out. Once I'm fully go to
go, I'll be out of both of y'all's hair. Sounds good?

usually doesn't go after people without a reason. He says as he

Danae: Specifically, no. Usually vampire sects or just groups in
general like that kidnap people for things such as blood and
toys. Either way, it doesn't matter at the end.
Danae says the last part darkly. She plans on hunting these
people down and kill them along with who's associated.

Hei: I've fought a few different sects of the Sabbat, so I'm
pretty familiar with their methods. He then thinks for a moment.
Thinking about the attack, it did seem like they were targeting
you specifically beyond just blood or sport. They hit you with a
poison that was strong enough to take down a demon, which
indicates they knew enough about how to affect you. They were
also prepared for a fight with you. Whatever they were up to,
this wasn't just some random attack. He says. I can have Yin see
if she can track down any Sabbat vampires in the area. She's one
of the best trackers I know. If the Sabbat are up to something
in this town, then it concerns me as well. He says. He frames it
partially as it being his business, mostly because he didn't
want to seem like he was intruding on Danae's life, or that he
was trying to help her as some sort of pity or heroic mission.
Hei could tell that Danae wouldn't be able to do it alone, but
Hei could sense that Danae was not likely to ask for help.
Drake: Okay. I'll just sit here and be useless, I guess. Sounds
like you two know exactly what you're getting into. He says
sarcastically.
