Eric: Here's the papers for today. He says, handing Kindron one
of the papers he bought. Looks like the Ghost Killer is still on
the loose.
Kindron takes the paper and reads it. Ever since he revealed his
identity, he enjoyed days like this where he could just be
himself without having to worry about his disguise as Wolf Mask.
Today was a somewhat calm day, where Kindron and Eric were able
to just relax with Dale Kelly sitting in the background. So far,
no one had come to try and kill Dale Kelly in the last few days,
and Kindron had set up a few wards to help detect any threats
that may appear. Ever since coming to this town, Kindron had
been trying to develop new spells and wards to help ward off
some of the super humans that had been a problem. Though he
could still use his own spells that were still effective, he was
being careful anyway, even though his new spells weren't at all
ready to use in a fight.
Kindron: And it looks like there's a copycat. He says, reading
the headline about the copycat Ghost Killer and the body drained
of blood.
Eric: My boss wanted your opinion on these killings. He's been
keeping up with the case even though my department's not
involved in the investigation. And after I told him about your
past supernatural hunting experience, he was curious about you.
He explains. But don't worry. I didn't tell him you're a
werepyre. I made sure he knew that was not my secret and I
wasn't going to say anything unless I had to. Thankfully, my
boss understands that sort of thing.
Kindron: Thanks. He then looks at the newspaper again. As for
the killings. I have a few theories, but I would need to see the
crime scenes to be sure. Because when you're supernatural
hunting, your first theories are almost always wrong, and you
have to be ready to change tactics when that happens. He
explains.
Eric: Well, fire away. I'm curious what you think about it. I
haven't looked at the crime scenes either, so I'd be only
guessing myself. He says as he sits down and lights a cigarette.
Kindron: Well. My first thought is that this killing... He says,
holding up the paper before going back to reading it. It may or
may not be a copycat. The MO being different doesn't necessarily
mean it's a different person. It's kind of hard to tell that it
is different from just the description alone. It could be
someone else. Or it could be the original killer, but they could
have required the blood for something. I'd have to analyze the
killings closer to know for sure. I could still be a copycat,
but it would depend on how different the scenes are from the
Ghost Killer crime scenes. He explains. While the MO was
different, Kindron wasn't ready to come to conclusions yet.
Eric: So who do you think the Ghost Killer is? What could kill
someone in locked room?
Kindron: Actually, there's a surprising number of ways you
could. I've seen plenty of cases just like this. He explains. My
first thought... Is that it's a witch. He says. In Europe there
are covens of witches who can kill someone without even being in
the room. They simply have to leave a hex bag in a room, and
then cast a curse from wherever they are. The spell connects to
the hex bag and can affect the person they want it to if they're
within range of it. It also explains why the kills are different
in some cases, where some are violent, but others look like
natural causes. Witches usually prepare the spells ahead of time
with the type of curse they want to inflict. He says. He had no
idea how close he was to identifying Danae's magic, but simply
didn't know enough to identify voodoo magic.
Eric: That's scary. So you could be dying and not even know it
was a witch.
Kindron: That's right. I've seen witches who are very crafty
with where they leave the hex bags. Some leave them in attics,
or in the walls, or somewhere they usually aren't found. Most
people under the curse never find it before it kills them even
if they know what they're looking for.
Eric: I didn't know that. So if the hex bags are still there,
then that could be a clue right?
Kindron: They could be. But witches usually go back and get the
hex bags to remove signs their magic was used, because they're
paranoid about supernatural hunters tracking them down. If it is
a witch like the ones I've met, they will be careful to cover
their tracks. So they will return to the scene of the crime to
recover their hex bags. Of course, that's assuming it's a witch.
He says, theorizing. However, this was the point where Kindron's
theory was actually wrong, since Danae didn't use hex bags.
Since he'd not really encountered voodoo magic up close, he
wasn't experienced with it.
Eric: And if it's not a witch, what else could it be?
Kindron: Well, there's a number of races that can get into a
room not through doors or windows, but through shadows. Death
wraiths, Lasombra vampires, or other people who use darkness
abilities. They use the Shadow Realm to connect different
shadows. They could connect to a shadow in the room. I doubt it
could be a death wraith. They don't usually mess around much
with the living since they hunt lost souls. And they'd have no
need to make deaths look like natural causes like the Ghost
Killer had been. Though a Lasombra vampire could be the killer
as well. Though it's more likely the Lasombra vampire would be
the copycat rather than the ghost killer. You'd be going back
to, why make some of the kills look like natural causes? And
then there's vengeful spirits. Unless you use wards similar to
the ones I use, live in an iron covered room, or you make lines
of salt.
Eric: I'm sorry... Salt? That's it?
Kindron: Yeah. Salt. You'd be surprised. Ghosts are affected by
it. And iron. Most ghosts aren't affected by physical objects.
They can pass right through walls.
Eric: That sounds like our ghost killer. They come, kill, and
leave without any evidence.
Kindron: Actually, ghosts do leave evidence. EMF readings
usually spike when they've been somewhere, and their presence
usually leaves extreme cold spots. Some stronger spirits even
freeze the area they're in. I don't think it's a ghost or they'd
probably notice the cold spots. My last guess would be a demon
or something that is using telekinesis to lock the door after
they kill someone so that they can make it look like a locked
room mystery. But I highly doubt it's a demon since they usually
aren't that subtle, and then the question again becomes why make
some kills look like natural causes and others don't.
Eric: So, I take it a witch is still your guess? He says
jokingly.
Kindron smiles a bit.
Kindron: Like I said... First guess is usually wrong. But yeah,
if I had to guess, based on the information I have, that would
be my guess. Of course, there's always information these
investigations don't give out to the press, so there's probably
more information that we don't know. He says, reading the paper.
Meanwhile, Dale Kelly, who was sitting and listening, looks
over.
Dale: Anything about me in the paper?
Kindron: It looks like the scandal around you got pushed back to
page 7. They're really on about this Ghost Killer. And the
continued Black Reaper killings. He says.
Dale: Well. That's good, I guess? He says, wondering if it was
good or bad that he was no longer front page news. He was happy
to know that people might be forgetting about him now, but it
also made him nervous since that might trigger some people who
think that Dale may have escaped justice.
Kindron: It is. The more people forget about you, the better off
you'll be. We'll just have to keep up Eric's investigation.
Eric: Hey, Kindron, have you ever considered working for the
FBI? Based on what I know about you, you'd probably make a
really good detective.
Kindron chuckles at the thought.
Kindron: Maybe in another universe, I guess. He says with a
shrug. I don't have a human form. So unless I were planning to
reveal myself to the public and reveal supernatural beings, I
doubt I'd be able to be someone who has to go out to the public.
He explains. While the thought was fun, he knew that he couldn't
do it as he was now.
Eric: Well, I think I could talk my boss into having you help as
a consultant. You know more about supernatural creatures than
most of us. Then you wouldn't have to reveal yourself. He says.
Kindron thinks for a moment.
Kindron: Actually, that may not be a bad idea. If I stay here in
America, then I might be able to do that. He says, thinking
about how he could help the FBI without revealing too much about
himself.
Eric: I'll talk to my boss. We have a number of... interesting
people... in our department. I think you'd fit in well. We do
typically handle this kind of case, but our knowledge of
vampires, werewolves, and stuff is kind of limited to books and
stuff. Having someone who's experienced in that world would help
us out a lot.
Dale: Great... You're lives are going peachy. While mine falls
to pieces in the background. He says sarcastically.
Kindron: Don't worry. We won't forget about you. I made a
promise that I'd protect you, and I'll keep that promise. You
have chosen to do what's right, and as long as you do, I'll be
here to protect you.
Dale: Well, yeah... There's no point in trying to lie to two
people who can tell whenever I'm lying. He says sarcastically.
Two Weeks Later.
"Who's that?!"
It was hard to not be seen when you're as tall as Kindron.
Kindron sighs and moves to knock out the person who had managed
to find him. Just another accidental sighting. Kindron was not
built for stealth. He still didn't understand how he sometimes
sneaked up on enemies, though he usually just attributed it to
his ability to suppress his presence.
Kindron was helping the FBI with their investigation into Dale
Kelly, but this time they'd managed to track down a human
trafficking ring that was capturing women. And Kindron was the
one Eric chose to infiltrate, knowing Kindron's experience with
supernatural creatures and the super humans that had been
appearing in Sin City.
Kindron was leading by going in and infiltrating the slave
auction, with the FBI waiting for his signal.
Kindron was making his way in, and then it happened.
The lights went out. Something Kindron didn't plan on.
- Encounter Theme: Starting (
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OtdpGrTo0Y
)
Kindron: D*mmit! Not now! He says, having a pretty good idea
what this meant.
Kindron races through the halls, trying to find the breaker
room. He knew exactly what was happening. Or rather... Who.
Thankfully, Kindron arrived in time, and caught a knife thrown
by Hei that was going to kill one of the guards.
Guard: WHO THE HELL?! He says, pulling his gun, before Kindron
brings his fist up and knocks him in the face, knocking him out
like the others. Kindron holds Hei's knife in his other hand.
Kindron stares down Hei, both behind their respective masks.
Both seemed to be sizing each other up again. Both analyzing
each other with the knowledge they'd gained from their previous
fight when Hei tried to kill Dale Kelly.
Hei: Why are you here? He asks Kindron simply.
Kindron: I suspect, the same reason you are. Except I'm here by
legal channels. He says to Hei.
Hei: What's that supposed to mean? He says as he pulls another
knife.
Kindron sighs.
Kindron: The FBI is about to raid this place. We're shutting
down the human trafficking here.
Hei: Is that so? He says simply.
Kindron: Leave, Black Reaper. You're going to ruin everything.
Hei: I think not. He says as he throws another knife at a guard
who came around the corner.
Kindron drops the first knife and catches the second, dropping
it once he caught it.
Kindron: If you're going to stay, then no killing. He says as he
vanishes and elbows the man in the gut hard enough to knock him
out when the wind got knocked out of him.
Hei: Don't give me orders, Wolf Mask. He says as he walks. He
then zips using his vampire speed and appears beside Kindron. I
still don't trust you.
Kindron: Well too bad. You're not going to be a part of this
unless you operate by my rules. He says sternly. We need them
alive. We need to get more information on the other slave
trading networks in town. Some of these people have connections
to others.
Hei: I'll find the information on my own. I take a few of them
and question them.
Kindron growls a bit and grabs Hei by the throat, which
surprised Hei.
Kindron: No you won't! By the time you get to them, who knows
how many people will be lost?! People we can save! He says,
starting to get angry at Hei.
Kindron telepathically gives an update to the FBI agent in
charge of the operation, letting them know what had happened,
and that he was handling it. The agent couldn't talk back, but
Kindron let the agent know that he was still confident he could
execute the operation.
Hei: Fine... I guess I have no choice. He says as he slaps
Kindron's hand away when Kindron loosens his grip on his neck.
How did you know I was here? He asks Kindron.
Kindron: You always overload the circuit breakers wherever you
go. It's like a calling card to your crimes. The minute the
power went out, I knew you were coming. He says as he starts
walking down the hall.
Hei: Lucky guess. He says sarcastically as he walks with
Kindron.
Kindron: Not exactly hard to deduce when you do it almost
everywhere you go. I get why you do it. But that doesn't make
you any less predictable. He says sarcastically.
Kindron and Hei walk through the halls.
Kindron and Hei take out guards along the way as they make their
way to the main stage.
Hei moves to attack and takes his knife out on instinct. Before
his knife can reach the enemy's throat, Kindron grabs Hei's
wrist again.
Kindron: No. Killing. He says sternly and slowly.
Hei just growls to himself as he puts his knife away. Hei then
punches the guard and knocks him out just to vent his
frustration.
Kindron and Hei move through, knocking out people along the way.
Hei throws his grapple line at a guard who turns a corner and
electrocutes him, which causes the guard to fall to the ground.
Kindron just stares at Hei for a moment. It was a look that Hei
could tell Kindron was glaring at him.
Hei: Relax... I used a nonlethal amount of voltage. Man, you are
annoying. He says bitterly as he retracts his line.
Kindron walks with Hei, but seeing the elemental power Hei used
made Kindron want to ask.
Kindron: Where do your elemental powers come from? He asks
curiously.
Hei: Don't talk to me like we're friends. We're not. He says
bitterly, brushing Kindron off.
Kindron just growls in annoyance to himself.
Kindron and Hei then move into the main area, where guards were
trying to move the women in cages as quickly as they could in a
panic.
The auction room was empty of any buyers... Something Kindron
realized immediately.
Kindron: Damn you... He says to himself. Though it was directed
at Hei. We got in... We could have gotten the one behind this,
and the buyers all at once. He says angrily to Hei. But your
little stunt ruined it! Now we have to settle for who's left! He
says as he moves to attack the men moving the cages.
Hei stays silent as he also moves to attack the men in the
cages.
Hei knew. He didn't say it, but he knew he had screwed up this
time. But it didn't hinder him or his dedication to his mission.
Anything he could think to say would just sound like an excuse,
and he knew it.
- Rescuing the Kidnapped People Theme: Electric Anger (Up until
1:18) (
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqVDsKCEYZE
)
Kindron and Hei make short work of the men, knocking them out
with calculated attacks, and dodging bullet fire from their guns
as they try to fight back. Hei just relies on his bullet-proof
jacket to protect him, while Kindron uses his sword to deflect
the bullets harmlessly into the floor.
Hei noticed Kindron deflecting bullets, noting how no normal
human could do what Kindron was doing. While Hei could do that
too, he started to suspect that Kindron wasn't human.
Once all the men were knocked out, Kindron sends a telepathic
message, signaling the FBI agent that they could start their
entrance.
Meanwhile, Hei uses his electricity to unlock all the cages by
manipulating the metal in the locks.
Hei: You're safe now. He says to the women, who were too scared
to come out of their cages after seeing how Hei and Kindron were
such strong fighters.
As the FBI charge in, they point their weapons around as they
make their way. When they saw Kindron, they recognized him
instantly, but Hei, they pointed their weapons at.
FBI Entrance Theme: Electric Anger (Starting at 1:18) (
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqVDsKCEYZE
)
Agents: Freeze! You're under arrest. They say to Hei as they
surround him.
Hei just looks at them, then back at Kindron.
Hei: So this is how it is, huh? He says to Kindron.
Kindron: You sabotaged an FBI operation. What did you think was
gonna happen? He says sarcastically.
Hei: Hmph... He scoffs. This was the second time he'd had to run
from the police (The first time against Tombstone). Hei was
tired of people assuming he was the bad guy.
As the agents move in to try and arrest him, Hei starts
attacking, knocking them out with precise strikes to their
necks. Though Hei was careful not to kill anyone, since the FBI
agents were not his enemies, and Hei didn't see them as people
worthy of death.
Kindron gets ready to jump into the fray to try and attack Hei
as he gets ready to draw his sword.
Hei looks over to Kindron as he throws an FBI agent, and fires a
wire line into the rafters, knowing that he couldn't stay and
fight the FBI and Kindron since he had so much trouble with
Kindron in their first fight.
Kindron: No you don't! He says with a growl as he takes his
sword out and gets ready to try and cut Hei's line.
However, Hei was faster in this circumstance as he uses his
vampire speed to move faster. By the time Kindron was ready to
jump into the rafters, Hei was already up there before Kindron
could try to jump and cut the line.
By the time Kindron was ready to fly up into the rafters to
pursue, Hei was already gone, fading into the dark like a shadow
in the night. He knew Hei would probably be gone before he could
even track him. Kindron could already smell flames in the
rafters as Hei teleported away. No doubt Hei used the same black
flames to teleport that Kindron did, something that confirmed
even further to Kindron that Hei had the same elemental powers
he did.
Kindron looks back at the FBI agents as the head FBI agent walks
up to him.
- FBI Agent and Kindron Talk Theme: Bloody Tears (Piano Version)
(
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=994c76BDS90
)
FBI Agent: Wolf Mask. You alright? He asks as he walks up to
Kindron.
Kindron sighs.
Kindron: Yeah. I'm fine. Did we get the people behind the
operation? He asks the agent.
FBI Agent: No. They left when the lights went out. Probably some
underground tunnel under this place that wasn't in the
schematics.
Kindron growls to himself again as he stomps his foot on the
ground hard enough to dent the stage's wood.
Kindron: This is why I was to infiltrate first, to figure out
where everyone was. Then I could have cut off the routes of
escape. He says to himself. Sorry. I guess I failed. Some test
this turned out to be on my abilities. He says with a shrug.
FBI Agent: You did good. He says, putting his hand on Kindron's
shoulder. We'll get them. We saved the kidnapped people, so
that's a win for today. The people you knocked out will be
questioned. We'll get whoever is behind this.
Kindron: Maybe. He says to himself.
FBI Agent: Listen. You couldn't have planned the Black Reaper
would show up. A good agent in the field knows when to
improvise. And I'm sure Agent Matthews (Eric) would agree that
you did the right thing. You tried to salvage the operation even
though the Black Reaper ruined it, and we still managed to cut
our losses.
Kindron nods.
Kindron knew that things didn't go the way he expected. But he
had a feeling that Hei was just as upset as he was at how things
turned out. Hei was the type that exacted his own justice, and
no one is was immune to making mistakes in the heat of the
moment.
Kindron tried to enjoy the small victory, knowing that he had at
least saved these people from a terrible fate. And he was happy
about that.
But Kindron wondered how many more would suffer because of the
failure of this operation. And who else would be kidnapped and
sold into human trafficking because they didn't cut the
operation off at the source.
Kindron tried not to focus on it, but he knew that this fight
wasn't over yet.
Kindron was now more determined than ever to track down the
Black Reaper.
Not only did the Black Reaper need to go to prison to pay for
his crimes , but Kindron was certain now...
The Black Reaper held the key to who he was. And Kindron needed
to know...
End.
