Alathen: Honestly... Working with Crowley, I've gotten used to
it. For me it's like walking around with a grenade in your
pocket. He's reliable... But he never tells the whole story. I
feel like I'm walking around with a grenade in my pocket.
Waiting for that one detail to blow up in my face... I respect
Crowley, but it's annoying at times.

She makes a half amused noise and briefly raises an eyebrow at
him. Cress: If you think all that is bad when you work for him
well then picture being raised by him. Your whole existence is a
story of half truths and white lies. He never quite tells you
the truth, and sometimes he purposefully tells you nothing at
all. It’s for the best dad says. You know it’s like when I was
little with my mom. She had to leave when I was just a small
child and I didn’t really remember much of her as she got older.
Dad told me she was dead once when I asked about her. I think
she had just married that Van Helsing man at the time. I figured
now thinking back on it that maybe he was just hurt. He loves my
mother even if he won’t admit it to anyone including her.

Alathen: I got the impression too... He does seem awfully fond
of your mother. But from what I found out about his past from
his mother, I can sorta see why he's not good at expressing that
kind of thing... That and being a demon sorta changes how you
view love. Love is often seen as a weakness among demons. Just
something else to exploit especially if you're in a position of
power. I know you, your sisters, and your mother are strong, but
the risk is still there that someone might try to use you
against him. And Heaven help the poor souls that try to use you
guys... Because no one else would be dumb enough to try. Though
the last part was a joke, he didn't really smile or anything,
just keeping his usual expression which was common.

Cress: You’re probably right. I’d hate to see the aftermath of
the poor fool dumb enough to try it. Emotions are a very
confusing time for someone like me. My angel side screams to
embrace them...my demonic heritage tells everything in me to
choke them down.

Alathen: I guess I should consider myself lucky... For me,
anyone who is a threat to me or the Seiji is usually someone I
won't hesitate to kill. I don't know if it's just how we Seiji
are, or it's the demon in us that tells us to kill anyone who's
a threat to us. That's just how we Seiji have survived over the
long years since the Heaven/Hell wars.

Cress: And it’s not a bad instinct to have honestly. Sometimes I
think it would be easier for me of compassion wasn’t part of the
equation. I’m a ruthless fighter, but i’d be even better if I
wasn’t so caring. I guess that helps in the aftermath though.

Alathen: We Seiji were originally sorta... programmed... by
demons. So you can tell we're designed to not care. But we have
always tried to defy our programming by them because we choose
our own path. He says as he watches the robots continue to blast
each other.

She nods drifting her attention towards the fight she had just
left behind. She stands up. Cress: Well as lovely as this
conversation has been, I have business to attend to. A weapon to
find. Her tone turns a bit humorous Wouldn’t want to disappoint
my very old man.

We should go... I wanted to make sure the robots didn't follow
us, and hope we could track down the energy signature I felt
before. He says as he starts walking. They won't be the last
creatures we encounter... But for now, I wanted to check out the
outskirts of the kingdom. Perhaps travel into the mountains
nearby. I suspect we might find a clue there. It seems the most
likely place to hide something if you're trying to make things
difficult.
