London/New Orleans WIP: Nathaniel Alexander Norbury

       ---------------------------------------------------------
       “Immortality isn’t the gift people imagine. It’s a mirror—one
that never lets you look away. Nero taught me that the night
doesn’t change you; it reveals you. The hunger, the beauty, the
power… they’re just the frame. What matters is whether you can
stand the truth of your own reflection and still walk forward
       with purpose.”
       ~ Nathaniel Alexander Norbury
“Master Nathaniel is… complicated.” The servant begins, with
that careful tone only long‑suffering staff ever perfect.
“He carries himself like a prince of the night—every step
measured, every glance deliberate—but the moment you think
you’ve grasped his elegance, he roars off on a motorcycle at
midnight with his jacket half-zipped and the speakers shaking
the estate windows. He has Nero’s aristocratic blood in his
veins, but his spirit? That belongs to the open road, the thrill
of danger, and whatever beautiful woman can keep pace with him
for an evening. He is refinement wrapped in rebellion… and the
most infuriatingly magnetic creature I have ever served.”
“You don’t fight Nathaniel Norbury. You survive the moment he
decides you’re worth drawing a blade for.
One second he was standing there like some aristocrat out of a
portrait—calm, elegant, bored even—and the next he moved like
smoke with a pulse. I’ve trained for decades, but he slipped
through my guard as if he’d choreographed the whole battle in
advance. Every strike was precise, every dodge effortless, every
counterattack a reminder that he’s danced this dance a thousand
       times across a thousand nights.
And the worst part? He enjoyed it. Not cruelly—no, that would
almost be easier. He fought with this… fierce, refined joy, like
a predator who still appreciates the artistry of the hunt. When
he finally had me on the ground, he just smirked, brushed a bit
of dust off his leather jacket, and walked away like the whole
       thing had been a warm‑up.
I lived. Barely. But I’ll tell you this: if Nathaniel ever
decides you’re a real threat, you won’t get the chance to tell
       the story.”
       ~ A surviving enemy
The alley is lit only by moonlight and the faint glow of
blood‑magic simmering under Nathaniel’s skin. Three
enemies circle him—hunters, arrogant enough to think they’ve
cornered a Redwood. Hunter 1: “Drop the blades, vampire. You’re
       outnumbered.”
Nathaniel smirks, brushing dust from his leather jacket.
Nathaniel: “Outnumbered? No. Surrounded? Yes. There’s a
       difference.”
       Hunter 2: “Last chance. Surrender.”
Nathaniel tilts his head, eyes narrowing with that dangerous,
elegant amusement. Nathaniel: “You boys really don’t know who
       you’re dealing with.”
       They rush him.
Nathaniel moves like a whisper of steel—dodging, striking,
twisting. A kick sends one hunter crashing into a wall. A knife
flicks from his sleeve, grazing another’s cheek.
       But then—
       A bullet grazes Nathaniel’s ribs.
       He stops.
       The air stills.
His eyes shift from emerald to a deep, glowing crimson.
Hunter 3 (shaking): “W‑What’s happening to the air—?”
Blood rises from the ground, swirling around Nathaniel’s boots
like red mist. A faint sigil begins to form beneath him—the
first shape of a forbidden crest.
Hunter 1: “Stop him! He’s casting something!”
Nathaniel lifts his hand, fingers trembling—not from weakness,
but from restraint. Nathaniel (voice low, dangerous): “I warned
       you. I truly did.”
The sigil brightens. The hunters stagger as the pressure builds,
crushing their lungs, bending their knees.
       Hunter 2: “Please—don’t—”
Nathaniel’s jaw clenches. For a moment, he looks like a fallen
prince deciding the fate of lesser men. The forbidden technique
hums at the edge of release. Nathaniel: “Do you have any idea
what this art does? What it costs?”
The hunters can’t answer. They’re pinned by the weight of his
blood‑magic. Nathaniel steps closer, the sigil flickering
       violently.
       Nathaniel: “If I finish this… you won’t die. You’ll break.” A
long beat. His hand lowers. The sigil shatters like glass,
dissolving into harmless sparks. Nathaniel grabs the nearest
hunter by the collar, slamming him against a wall. Nathaniel
(snarling): “Tell your masters this: I don’t need forbidden arts
to end you. I choose not to use them.” He releases the hunter,
who collapses, gasping. Nathaniel turns away, leather jacket
swaying as he walks into the night. Nathaniel (over his
shoulder): “Next time… pray I’m in a merciful mood.”
       Name: Nathaniel Alexander Norbury
       Nicknames: Nate, Xander
Age: 225 years old (Appears to be 21 years old)
       Species: Vampire
       Gender: Male
       Height: 6'3"
       Weight: 198 lbs
       Generation:
       Vampire Clan: Redwood
       Known Family and Friends:
       ~ Father: George Norbury (Deceased)
       ~ Mother: Josephine Norbury (Deceased)
       ~ Sire: Nero Redwood
       Abilities:
Redwoods are vile, unholy creatures. These monsters perverted
many of the Arcane Arts to procure their own form of magic. They
are also the inventors on the Art of Quickening, an Arcane art
used by them in the past due to them not possessing supernatural
       speed as most vampires do.
Vileblood Physiology: Redwoods are vampires, typically referred
to as Vilebloods due to their tainted lineage. Like all Vampires
however, they possess superhuman attributes like enhanced
       strength, regeneration and acute senses.
~ Immortality: They possess a supernatural vitality granting
them nearly unlimited stamina, longevity and healing making them
incapable of death by natural causes nor disease. Their natural
regeneration is also a part of this allowing them to heal
wounds. (to put it in rpg terms they regenerate +1 HP per
second). Their Queen, Elizabeth Redwood is Effectively Immortal
meaning she is so powerful she is incapable of death instead,
reconstituting over a lengthy period of time.
~ Enhanced Strength: Their strength is incredible to the eyes of
hunters, easily overpowering a human and even the most trained
executioner of the church. They are tough enough to tear a human
       apart.
~ Acute Senses: They can smell blood from several yards, and can
differentiate cold from warm environments. Their acute hearing
granted them an affinity to the arts of entertainment.
~ Art of Quickening: They can tap into this innate Arcane art
within them that allows them to move faster than the eye can
see, shrouding their body in fog and making them harder to
       attack.
Bloodtinge Attunement: Through their constant experimentation
with arcane arts and their own vile, cursed blood the Redwoods
have developed a form of blood magic they call their own.
~ Coldblood Weapons: Each Redwood can tap into their blood to
form their own unique weapon formed by their blood. These
weapons are created when their blood crystalizes outside of
their bodies and are formed through the user's own perceived
preference. They are deadly blades, and cause bleed and even
curse damage negating regeneration on vampire opponents.
~ Blood Siphon: One can siphon the life force of another to
increase their regeneration to quickly heal from wounds.
Stealing lifeforce to simply reconstitute it into themselves.
This is also used to replenish their blood reserves to further
       utilize their Bloodtinge.
~ Lance Thrust: By expending a large amount of their blood, they
can thrust forward with a deadly blood Lance, dealing single
target damage and severe piercing and bleed damage.
~ Blood Spike Barrage: A deadly barrage of blood spikes that
constantly impale the target, causing bleed damage and piercing
damage simultaneously. Can be further enhanced to turn into an
AOE attack taking out multiple enemies.
~ Vampire Claw: All redwoods can utilize their vampiric claw
ability to pull enemies towards them, grab or even pull
themselves towards others. It creates an ethereal blood claw
around their arms that can be manipulated with range.
~ Blood Wings: They can use their blood to sprout large wings
made of blood used for flight.
~ Vileblood Form: Through intense emotions, stress, desperation
or at will a Redwood can force their bodies to undergo a
transformation. Usually caused by plunging their own weapon into
their chest, the blood is then spilled out into the air, glows
of immense power and is then forcibly at once reconstituted into
the user's body causing a drastic, instant change into a
vampiric beast of blood. Their range of attacks are further
increased. However their weaknesses to fire are also further
       increased.
       Weaknesses:
While deadly and powerful, they still possess various vampiric
       weaknesses.
~ Consecrated Weapons: The use of weapons that are blessed are
highly effective against them. Most Redwoods will suffer true
death if hit in a vital area by these weapons.
~ Beheading: A common practice used by the Church long ago
against the Redwoods. Many of their members were simply beheaded
as an act of punishment. This severs their immortality and kills
       the vampire.
~ Holy Arts: Because they are of cursed blood, all Redwoods are
highly susceptible to holy arts. Magic wielded by holy vampires
or even the church causes devastating wounds that negate
       regeneration.
~ Fire: Another common practice against them was setting one
ablaze. This simply destroys them at the cellular level,
       reducing them to ash.
~ Blood Dependancy: Being blood users they depend heavily on
blood to survive and fight. Without blood they will eventually
weaken, and their immortality will cripple at a slow rate. Blood
Starved Redwoods become crazy and eventually mutate into
monstrous horrors if they are not given blood.
       Nathaniel's Blood‑Magic Combat Techniques:
       1. Crimson Veil Step
Nathaniel momentarily dissolves into a swirl of red mist,
reappearing behind an opponent with predatory grace. It’s not
teleportation — it’s blood‑fueled speed so fast it looks
       supernatural.
       2. Heartstring Bind
A thin, glowing thread of blood‑energy lashes out from his
hand, wrapping around an enemy’s limbs and tightening like a
psychic snare. It doesn’t break bones — it immobilizes by
overwhelming the nervous system with vampiric pressure.
       3. Scarlet Echo Strike
Nathaniel channels blood magic into a punch or kick, creating a
delayed aftershock that hits a second time a heartbeat later.
Enemies think they blocked the blow… until the echo slams into
       them.
       4. Blood‑Sight Clairvoyance
By tasting even a drop of spilled blood, Nathaniel gains a brief
       flash of his opponent’s next move — a half‑second
precognition that makes him terrifying in close combat.
       5. Red Serpent Blade
He infuses a sword or dagger with blood‑energy, causing it
to extend into a whip‑like arc of crimson light. Perfect
for disarming, slicing through magical wards, or showing off in
that aristocratic “I’m better than you” way.
       6. Vitae Requiem Guard
A circular sigil of swirling blood forms around his forearm,
acting as a shield that deflects physical strikes and weakens
magical ones. It looks like a rose made of liquid ruby.
       7. Predator’s Pulse
Nathaniel releases a shockwave of blood‑magic from his
chest — not explosive, but concussive, knocking enemies back
while he remains perfectly still, jacket barely ruffled.
       8. Crimson Mirage
He creates a semi‑solid illusion of himself made from
blood‑mist. It moves like him, fights like him, and
vanishes the moment it’s struck. Perfect for confusing enemies
who think they’ve landed a killing blow.
       9. Blood‑Forged Fangs
His vampiric fangs glow with blood‑energy, allowing a bite
to drain not just blood but magical stamina. It’s a
last‑resort technique — intimate, dangerous, and deeply
       aristocratic in its dominance.
       10. Redwood Sovereign’s Mark
A rare technique taught only by Nero Redwood himself. Nathaniel
places a glowing sigil on the ground with a drop of his own
blood. Anyone who steps inside feels their strength siphoned
       while his increases.
       Finishing Moves:
Sanguine Nocturne: The Aristocrat’s Last Waltz
       Description:
Nathaniel’s finishing move is a deadly blend of elegance, blood
magic, and predatory precision — a technique that feels less
like a killing blow and more like a dark, aristocratic
       performance.
       How it unfolds:
The moment Nathaniel decides to end a fight, the air around him
stills, as if the night itself is holding its breath.
A thin ring of crimson light forms beneath his feet — a sigil
shaped like an ornate, baroque crest of the Redwood clan.
His eyes shift from emerald to a deep, glowing red, and the
blood in the air responds, rising like dust caught in moonlight.
Nathaniel steps forward with the poise of a nobleman beginning a
       waltz… and the world slows.
       The Strike:
He draws a line through the air with two fingers, leaving behind
       a shimmering arc of blood‑magic.
That arc snaps forward like a razor‑thin ribbon, slicing
through defenses, illusions, and magical wards.
The enemy feels no pain at first — only a sudden, overwhelming
pressure in their chest, as if their heartbeat has been seized
       by an unseen hand.
       The Finale:
Nathaniel whispers, almost gently, “The dance ends here.”
The crimson sigil flares, and the opponent collapses as their
strength drains into the circle, feeding Nathaniel’s own power.
He turns away before they hit the ground, leather jacket
swaying, already bored with the fight he ended so beautifully.
       Why it’s feared:
       It’s not brutal.
       It’s not messy.
It’s artistic — a finishing move that embodies everything
Nathaniel is: elegant, dangerous, aristocratic, and undeniably
       rebellious.
Blood‑Reaver Tempest: The Bad Boy’s Crescendo:
Where Sanguine Nocturne is refined and ceremonial,
Blood‑Reaver Tempest is Nathaniel unleashed — fast,
ferocious, and stylish in a way only he can pull off.
       How it begins:
Nathaniel cracks his neck, rolls his shoulders, and gives that
half‑smirk that means he’s done playing.
The blood in his veins ignites with crimson lightning, visible
under his skin like glowing cracks in marble.
His leather jacket flutters as if caught in a storm only he can
       feel.
       The Tempest Unleashed:
He snaps his fingers, and droplets of his own blood rise into
the air, orbiting him like red sparks.
With a sudden forward dash, he moves faster than a blink — a
blur of black leather and crimson streaks.
Each strike he lands releases a burst of blood‑charged
force, like miniature shockwaves that tear through defenses.
       The Reaver Spiral:
Nathaniel leaps upward, twisting in a tight spin.
The orbiting droplets whip outward, forming a spiraling vortex
       of razor‑thin blood‑energy around him.
Anyone caught inside the radius is slashed by dozens of cuts
that appear too fast to track — elegant, precise, devastating.
       The Crescendo:
As he lands, he slams his palm to the ground.
All the scattered blood‑energy detonates at once in a
       silent, implosive flash.
Enemies collapse as if the air itself has been ripped from their
       lungs.
       The Aftermath:
Nathaniel stands in the settling haze, brushing a fleck of dust
       from his jacket.
       He doesn’t look back.
       He never needs to.
       Forbidden Technique:
       The Crimson Sovereign’s Devouring Rite:
The Forbidden Mastery of the Redwood Bloodline
       Nature of the Technique:
       This isn’t a finishing move.
It’s a claim — a declaration that the vampire performing it is
no longer merely a warrior, but a sovereign of blood itself. The
technique is outlawed because it doesn’t just defeat an enemy…
       it rewrites the battlefield.
       How it begins:
       Nathaniel’s heartbeat stops.
Every drop of blood within a ten‑pace radius rises into
the air — not violently, but with eerie, ceremonial grace.
The world dims, as if the moon itself is holding back its light.
A massive sigil forms beneath him: the true Redwood crest, the
one only the founders ever used, shaped like a thorned crown
       encircling a bleeding sun.
       The Devouring:
Nathaniel extends his hand, palm up, and the blood in the air
       spirals toward him.
It doesn’t enter his body — it forms a floating sphere above his
hand, pulsing like a second heart.
The sphere begins to beat, each pulse sending a shockwave of
       vampiric dominance across the battlefield.
Enemies feel their strength drain, their limbs weaken, their
       will crumble.
       The Sovereign’s Command:
Nathaniel speaks a single word — not in English, not in Latin,
but in the Redwood ancestral tongue, a language only Nero and
       the founders know.
       The word means:
       “Kneel.”
Anyone still standing is forced to their knees by the crushing
       weight of blood‑magic authority.
       The Final Judgment:
The sphere collapses inward, becoming a thin, glowing ring of
       blood‑light.
Nathaniel draws it across the air like a blade.
The ring expands outward in a silent, perfect circle.
Anything caught in its path — flesh, bone, magic, illusions — is
severed cleanly, elegantly, as if reality itself has been
       sliced.
       Why it is forbidden:
It consumes the battlefield’s blood, leaving nothing for healing
       or rituals.
It asserts dominance over all vampires present, even allies.
It risks awakening the Redwood ancestral hunger, a primal force
that once nearly destroyed the clan.
       And worst of all…
If the user’s will falters for even a moment, the technique
       devours them instead.
       Nathaniel’s relationship to it:
       Nero taught him the theory.
       Nathaniel has never used it.
       But he could.
And that possibility alone terrifies every rival clan.
The Rose of Shattered Hearts: A Toreador‑Redwood Forbidden
       Art:
Beauty as a weapon. Blood as the canvas. The soul as the price.
       Origin:
Long ago, when the Redwood clan first allied with the Toreador,
a small circle of Toreador artists became obsessed with the idea
of blending blood magic with aesthetic transcendence.
They believed that true art should not merely be seen — it
       should consume.
The result was a technique so mesmerizing and catastrophic that
both clans agreed to bury it.
Nathaniel, of course, has heard whispers.
       How the Forbidden Art Manifests:
       The Blooming:
Nathaniel draws a circle in the air with a fingertip dipped in
       his own blood.
The blood doesn’t drip — it floats, forming a perfect rose
       outline glowing with crimson light.
The moment the rose completes, the battlefield falls silent.
       Colors sharpen.
       Sound softens.
Time feels like it’s holding its breath.
       Enemies don’t feel fear.
       They feel awe.
       The Captivation:
The rose begins to bloom, petal by petal, each one made of
       shimmering blood‑light.
With every petal that opens, the technique pulls at the emotions
of everyone nearby — longing, nostalgia, heartbreak, desire.
Opponents freeze not because they are restrained…
but because they cannot bear to look away.
       This is the Toreador influence:
       beauty weaponized.
       The Shattering:
When the rose fully blooms, Nathaniel whispers a single word —
       the Toreador name for “break.”
The rose explodes into hundreds of razor‑thin shards of
       crystallized blood‑light.
       They do not cut flesh.
       They cut emotion.
Victims collapse as their courage, rage, hope, and will are
sliced apart, leaving them hollow, trembling, unable to fight or
       even speak.
       The Afterimage:
The battlefield is left covered in drifting red petals that fade
       like dying embers.
Nathaniel stands at the center, untouched, looking like the
       tragic hero of a painting.
       The technique leaves no wounds.
       Only broken spirits.
       Why It Is Forbidden:
It destroys the emotional core of anyone caught in it.
Victims may survive physically but never recover their sense of
       self.
Toreador elders declared it “art without mercy,” a perversion of
       their ideals.
Redwood elders declared it “power without restraint,” a threat
       to their honor.
Nero Redwood himself forbade its teaching after witnessing its
       effects once.
       But Nathaniel…
Nathaniel has the temperament, the artistry, and the rebellious
streak to be tempted by it.
