- Opening Invasion Theme: Dr. Andross (

)
The year was 2267 when they invaded.
No words, no "surrender or die," no negotiations gone wrong.
Just... a sudden worldwide invasion that took many innocent
lives.
They were called the Draxilon. A race of machine-like beings who
enjoyed enslaving galaxies and making slaves out of other races,
something we didn't find out until later.
But though sudden, there were signs that humanity picked up on
that the threat was coming.
In this day and age, humanity had managed to travel to the edges
of the solar system. While they had not developed faster than
light travel, they had developed ships with special acceleration
warp systems that could allow them to move beyond what normal
ships would allow. While it could move between planets in the
solar system, it couldn't traverse the massive number of
lightyears to get to other galaxies with our level of
technology.
So while humanity had not managed to explore beyond its solar
system yet, humanity was able to travel throughout our solar
system with these acceleration systems.
Ships and shields were built with this new ship acceleration
systems, and it became possible to inhabit space. Both as
defense against outside threats, options for trading amongst
each other, and even deep space exploration.
Different stations were inhabited by different people and
creatures. Each station became like it's own country, learning
to survive on its own. Each station started building resources,
and developing ways to keep themselves indepedent of resources
on Earth so they could survive without needing to constantly
return to Earth.
Because of that, every station is unique. Some are pure humans.
Others allow robots and metahumans, and there's even a few robot
only or metahuman only stations as well. Depending on where you
go, they all operate differently.
When stations went dark without warning, it was obvious
something was happening. First it was the one on the outskirts
of the solar system, known as the Orealis Station. Then the
Pluto station. Then Ros Station placed somewhere between Uranus
and Neptune's orbit.
And when a fleet of attack ships were sent to intercept when the
Jupiter station came under attack, they were all lost too.
However, the Titan station soon also went silent alongside the
Jupiter station. Then a few weeks later, the Mars station went
silent.
Earth started gathering its forces after the first few stations
went dark, knowing an attack was imminent. When they noticed the
pattern seeming like something was coming toward Earth, and
wiping out any competition in its path, the governments of Earth
started preparation.
Thankfully, most of the governments noticed the pattern, and the
countries put aside tensions in the face of a real possible
threat that was coming. For the first time, countries were
coordinating and working together in total peace.
And when the Draxilon invaded, they descended like monsters from
the Heavens. Every major city came under attack all at once.
But...
We were ready.
My team doesn't work for any government. We take jobs across the
galaxy to keep the peace, and take the missions too dangerous
for other fleets. Whether it's taking on groups with sinister
objectives, or taking out dangerous objects (Like how we get
called for asteroid destruction at times around the Kuvlar
Station that sits in the asteroid belt).
And yes, there are still conflicts among humanity. Despite
expanding into space, there's still conflicts among metahumans,
robots and humans. Depending on where you go, the beliefs and
prejudices are different.
My team got the call to defend New York in the afternoon. But we
heard the attack long before we got the call, even from outside
the city.
It was time for the Black Wolf Squadron to move out...
- Mission Start Theme: Area 6 (
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLCGPRDBZwc
)
When we got the call, we moved immediately. My team had been on
high alert. Ever since we'd started hearing about the possible
destruction of the other bases.
Me: Alright team. This is the moment we've been preparing for! I
say to the group.
The members of my team had already gotten up before even hearing
me talk because they heard the sirens outside.
Me: Black Wolf Squadron! Move out! I say as we move toward our
ships.
Our group had special fighters I'd designed. Specialty fighters
that I called the Wolfwings.
We run toward our hangers and get into our gear. Once we come
out and get into our individual ships, we hook up our air masks
to the Wolfwing system.
My team consisted of close friends and others I'd met that or
had talents that piqued my interest.
First was my friend and robot creation, Mecha Shadow. He's my
second in command, and he's a robot that I designed. He's
skilled in pretty much everything thanks to the advanced AI that
makes up his mind.
Second was Nightbane Shiraki, whos a half vampire/half human
hybrid. He's our team's strategist, and he's the smartest person
I've ever met. He's always three steps ahead of everyone. He's
also good at seeing weaknesses of formations and tactics of our
opponents. And he loves sweets almost as much as I do. He and I
have been friends for years. I helped train him when he joined
my team.
Next was Goten Uchiha. He's young, but his instincts are the
best I've ever seen. When I hired him to be part of Black Wolf
Squadron, it was for those instincts. He has a strange sense
about him. It helps that he also is chakra user with the
Sharingan eye. He can see things most of us can't. And he loves
pizza almost as much as I do.
Next up is the death wraith, Kierran Black. The man is cold and
calculated no matter the situation. He never loses his cool. The
only time he's not composed is around his wife... But that's a
story for another time. Anyway, Kierran is adaptable in combat,
and he changes strategies quickly when he needs to. I've never
seen anyone that can change their battle strategy and movement
nearly as well as he does. It makes him unpredictable.
And the next on is Zack Fair. He's a super soldier who was
enhanced by Shinra Corp when they tried to take over the energy
market. Zack is not only an enhanced human, but he's got strong
senses, and he's great at powering through dangerous groups.
I've seen Zack fly his ship into a whole squadron of enemy
fighters and not get touched.
Lastly, there's Eric Matthews. He's good at analyzing the
thought processes of enemies. He can predict how people are
going to react in fights before they know themselves. He's also
great at analyzing situations. He's also a master interrogator,
but we don't do interrogations ourselves unless we have to. Eric
is a werewolf, and he can use his werewolf whistles in the form
of songs to enhance us and our ships. When we need an extra
boost, he whistles into the comms. We know all his songs and
what they do, so we usually catch on quick when he starts
whistling into the comms.
As for me, Kindron Darkfire, I'm a human magic user. The
Darkfire family utilize alchemic and elemental magic for
supernatural hunter skills. I lead the team. I like to think I'm
cool and calculated, though I admit I will never match how cool
and level-headed Kierran seems to be in dangerous situations.
It's a small team, but a good one. We all have our specialties,
and we do our best to help each other out when we have trouble.
There's a level of trust built into us that we would give our
lives to protect each other.
As we got into our ships and put our helmets on, we start up our
Wolfwings and get ready to blast out of our base, a small base
where we had made home.
Nightbane: So... Is it just us? He asks me over the comms.
Me: No. We're going to be leading a military squadron. They're
going to form up on us, and follow our lead. I've already
explained to them that the command structure will be me, then
Mecha Shadow, then Nightbane. If things get too hectic, I'm also
ready to assign Kierran and Eric to squads as well if needed. I
explain over the comms. It was partially to answer Nightbane's
question, but also to explain the structure of the mission we
were undertaking.
Eric: The mission is to defend the city, right? He says to me
over the comms.
Me: That's right. Destroy the enemy or chase them off. That's
our job. And if we finish this mission efficiently enough, we
will probably go and help other towns being attacked as well.
Mecha Shadow: So they're attacking multiple cities?
Me: From what I was told, we're dealing with a worldwide
invasion. Multiple cities across the globe are being wiped out
by giant alien ships.
Nightbane: So it is aliens... This will be fun if we survive.
Now we will know there's alien life in the universe. He says
with a smile. I couldn't see him, but I could see some of his
excitement. Nightbane is a scientific person. The idea that we'd
discovered alien life was probably overloading his scientific
mind with possibilities right now. See, even though we had
reached the edge of our galaxy, we'd never made contact with any
aliens, so we were still trying to figure out if there was other
life in the universe. We estimated that there probably was
aliens out there, but never had any kind of contact with alien
life before this.
Goten: Easy, Nightbane. People are probably dying out there.
Focus on the mission. He says to Nightbane.
Nightbane: Yeah, you're right, kid... Sorry. Getting ahead of
myself. He says to Goten. He calls Goten "kid" because he's
young. Nothing personal, just how he nicknamed him.
Me: Alright... Let's fly. I say as our Wolfwings hum to power
and we blast out of the base using the long tunnel to fly out of
the base.
Our ships fly way better than fighter jets in the past. Our jets
aren't really jets anymore. They have special acceleration
systems, and ways to dampen G-forces as well as produce
artificial gravity in our fighters. Our ships can also fly out
into space as well and enter without breaking apart, unlike
ships of the past.
As we accelerate, we fly toward the city. We could see the giant
white ship above the city shooting down at the city. It was on
the edge of the city, destroying buildings. The first thing I
noticed was the green energy shots it was firing. They weren't
any kind of energy I recognized, and the sensors couldn't
identify it either.
Nightbane: Why is the ship only shooting down one building at a
time? He says, trying to figure out the ship's strategy.
Eric: Either they're trying to bring people out into the open to
capture them, or they're taunting us, daring us to attack them.
He says, analyzing the ship's actions.
Me: Well... They succeeded on that front. I say sarcastically.
Over the comms, we hear the other military squadrons reporting
in. The squads form up behind us, following our lead as we fly
toward the giant ship.
Military Fighter: Sir... Our squads are formed and ready. We'll
back you up. They say as they fly behind us.
Me: Great. Follow our lead and lets take this thing out. The
sooner we destroy it, the sooner we can help the other cities. I
say as we fly up to the ship.
Me: Alright... Black Wolf Squadron, fire dark matter missiles.
Other squadrons, fire whatever you got. We're gonna hit this
thing hard and fast! I say as I arm my dark matter missiles.
We all fire our missiles at the ship. The missiles move past us,
and everything seems to hit the ship before the smoke clears.
Mecha Shadow: Damn! Everyone pull aside! That things got some
kind of energy shield! He says as he pulls to the right side of
the ship. We all do the same, and the squadron does so behind
us. Mecha Shadow probably analyzed where our missiles hit or
something. He definitely saw something that none of us saw.
- Flying along the Space Ship Hull Theme: Route 2 Venom Base (
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrVpBIgFiFs
)
Me: Let's try again... Form up and let's fire our payloads. I
say to both my team and the squadrons forming around us.
We try to fire again at the ship, only to hit some kind of green
energy field around the ship. It was more visible since we were
flying along the side of the hull of the outer part of the ship.
Me: Yep... It's got a shield alright. Good catch, Shadow. I say
to him over the comms.
Mecha Shadow: It's illogical. Sure, a ship that size could have
a shield generator, but compensating for the movement of the
ship and the shield should be impossible. It breaks Charmiel's
Third Law of Energy Construction! He says bitterly.
Okay, so, let me explain that. Basically, the laws of energy
construction were founded when shield generators started being
developed. Alexander Charmiel was one of the lead researchers in
that project in 2189 and he came up with laws of energy
construction which he found governed how to make energy
constructs like energy shields. Basically, the third law states
that an energy construct, once created, cannot move unless one
is able to calculate precisely the movement of each molecule of
energy in the shield at the same time and adjust it every
microsecond as the shielded object moves. In this case, in order
to move, a shield generator couldn't move a shield around like
in the movies where it just stays fixed on the object being
shielded. In order for a shield to move, something would have to
account for the movement of the energy particles in the shield
in conjunction with the movement of the object generating the
shield, which is too many predictions to make. If the shield
moves, every particle has to be accounted for and moved with the
object. Even Mecha Shadow, one of the most advanced AIs of the
age (at least in my opinion), can't make that precise mass of
predictions every microsecond, let alone keep up with putting in
those kinds of predictions into a computer to control the
shield. That's why only bases have shield generators, and the
space stations (or rather, the space stations only use them when
fixed in place, and aren't used when orbiting planets or other
celestial bodies). You can probably guess what happens when you
try to move inside a shield that is fixed in place. The only
reason it works on a planet like earth that is constantly
spinning and moving is because gravity is constant and carrying
the energy particles equally with the object being shielded.
It's the only known exception to the law, if you consider it one
(some people don't)... Or rather, the only exception we knew
before this.
Me: These are aliens, Shadow. They probably have a better
understanding of energy construction than we do. And more
advanced tech. I say to Mecha Shadow. Focus on what we know.
There must be a way to counter it.
I could tell Mecha Shadow was doing calculations in his head as
he stayed silent for a few seconds. And I guess the others could
too.
Goten: I can practically hear Mecha Shadow's brain overheating
from here. He says jokingly.
Mecha Shadow: Funny. He says to Goten.
Nightbane: What about structural weaknesses? I'm guessing the
poles of the energy shield are the top and bottom of the ship,
right? So that's where the shields are gonna be strongest. Or
rather... That's if they follow the laws of energy
construction... which we know they don't fully follow the laws.
He says. The fifth law of energy construction is that there are
always two "poles" on energy constructs where the energy is
strongest. Like magnetic north and south poles. But this is for
energy shields. It's all about the flow of energy. The energy
doesn't flow in a sphere like people of the movies, but it flows
away from a singular point which is the pole, then to the center
of the shield, and then back up to the pole. The middle of the
shield is where the energy for the shield from both poles meet.
So there's two points, or poles that generate the energy, which
are the two halves of the shield. And since there's far more
energy flowing at the poles, it's where the shields are always
strongest. Meanwhile, the flow of energy at the equator fo the
shield is usually the weakest.
Mecha Shadow: It might have a weakness somewhere. We need to
figure out where the weakness is. I suppose we should start with
Nightbane's plan. The side of the ships should be the furthest
from the poles of the shield energy flow. He says.
Me: I agree. Fire on the side of the ship. And look for anything
that might be vital. Maybe if we hit it at the right spot, we
can puncture through the shield. I say as we try to find a weak
spot. I was firing my plasma cannons on the side of the ship as
I fly around the side, trying to find a spot I could fire on and
eventually punch through the shield.
Nightbane: Look for a hanger or docking port. The ship is big
enough it may have hangers for smaller ships. The shield will
have to be weaker in those areas in order to not superheat the
air inside if they let ships in and out. He explains.
Me: You heard the man. Look for docking ports or hangers and
fire your weapons on them. But fire base weapons. Don't waste
important shots if you can help it until we know for sure what
we're aiming for. I say to the group.
Now, I should explain something. Me and my team fire dark matter
missiles in addition to our plasma canons, which are all energy
weapons, so we can fire endlessly as long as our energy
generators don't overheat or get damaged. The dark matter
missiles are a kind of energy blast that utilizes immense
gravitational energy to pull in unseen dark matter to create a
large explosion of dark matter and electromagnetic energy. The
other military use advanced physical missiles that conduct
electromagnetic energy for large bursts of power, which isn't as
advanced as our ships. But even though we can fire more shots
than the military fighters that have limited numbers of
missiles, we can only fire so many in a short time without
overheating our energy generation systems. Thankfully, the
military fighters at least use plasma cannons similar to ours,
though ours are more advanced. Some countries have other
weapons. For example, one space station has phase lasers, which
are like laser beams, as their main weapons. I've been trying to
buy their design for years.
As we fly along the side of the ship, we fire on what looked
like hangers where smaller ships would come out. The ship was
big, almost as big as a space station, so flying around it was
no small feat. Not to mention we were flying slower so we could
find a weak spot. We didn't want to overlook anything.
We, unfortunately, didn't manage to punch through the shields.
It seems the shield on the large ship was strong enough to repel
our attacks.
Nightbane: There has to be something we can do... It doesn't
look like a normal attack is gonna do the job. He says over the
comms.
Eric: What concerns me is why they're not shooting at us yet,
and they stopped shooting on the city. They definitely know
we're here, but they just don't care. He says over the comms.
Kierran: Then we'll take advantage of it as long as we can.
Me: We need a strategy to hit them. Shadow, Nightbane, any
ideas?
Mecha Shadow: I still think the sides of the ship are going to
be the most vulnerable. I propose we all try to blast one hanger
at the same time and see if we can concentrate our attacks to
punch a hole in the shield. He explains over the comms.
As we fly alongside the side of the ship's hull, I mark one of
what appeared to be a docking bay/hanger as a target for us and
the military ships.
Me: Alright everyone. I'm marking one of the hangers. We're
going to try and punch a hole. Everyone fire their strongest
shots at the same hanger, but be careful and don't hit each
other's missiles. And watch the shield. Don't clip the side of
it when you fire. I explain to the group.
We all fire out payloads on the spot that was marked. Of course,
my team marked the spots they were aiming for, and we all
coordinated. But the military fighters didn't have that complex
a targeting system, and they tried to fire their missiles the
best they could.
My teams dark matter missiles hit the mark, while many of the
military's missiles either blasted into each other, or were
destroyed by the explosions of other missiles.
We turn around and fly back toward where we fired. We couldn't
see it because of the smoke and electrical energy generated by
the military's missiles still sparking.
But the good news was that we punctured the shield and we saw
damage to the hull. The shield formed again around the damaged
area quickly, but our attack was successful.
I could hear cheers from the military people.
Goten: We were able to damage it! Alright. How do we replicate
that without all of us having to attack at once?
However, before we could celebrate the turn of the tide,
something strange came up on our sensors.
Nightbane: An energy reaction? Did we destabilize... He started.
Mecha Shadow: No! The shield is opening for the hangers! He says
desperately, cutting off Nightbane. The warning was clear.
Me: Wait... Does that mean- I started.
And then we saw it before I could finish my thought. The shield
created rectangular holes around the hangers, and the smaller
fighter ships started flooding out of the giant ship through the
holes created in the shield. Which showed that these aliens
could change their shield shape at will.
But that was an observation for later...
- The Alien Fighters Attack Theme: Boss C (
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb6WqDLDbMo
)
Me: INCOMING ENEMY FIGHTERS! PULL BACK! I say loudly as I fly
away from the ship so I wouldn't hit one of the fighters flying
out.
We all fly away from the ship as the ships come out. A few of
the military ships crash into the smaller ships, as we lose our
first casualties of this battle.
Me: Take them out! I say as I start firing on the smaller ships.
The others start firing their plasma canons as well.
But there was a problem...
Zack: Blast it! The little ones have shields too! He say as his
shots don't do any damage and just get dispelled by the shield.
It was definitely the same tech we saw that shielded the big
ship. And our plasma cannons weren't enough to take out their
shields.
Mecha Shadow: Oh come on! Charmiel's First Law of Energy
Construction! These ships are way too small to have shield
generators! He says bitterly. Yeah, his understanding of energy
construct physics was being completely rewritten today. So...
The first law was the energy requirements for shields are far
more than it takes to simply generate the energy. It takes so
much energy you can't have shield generators below a certain
size because they can't generate the power needed to construct,
contain, control, and maintain an energy shield. That's why
ships like ours don't have energy shields even though we have
the technology, because shield generators are huge and they have
to be in order to generate that level of power even for a small
shield. It isn't as simple as the movies where a generator does
all the work. You need systems in place to contain the energy
into the shape you want, energy to maintain the construct,
systems to control the energy and the energy to make up the
construct. And the energy requirements for all of that are
enormous, not just for the energy shield itself, but for all the
systems required for it.
Nightbane: Make a note and we'll work on it later, man! Why am I
having to tell the robot to focus?! He says to Mecha Shadow
sarcastically.
Mecha Shadow: I am focused! Unlike you humans, I CAN multitask,
you know. He says sarcastically.
Me: Both of you cut the chatter and focus on the battle! I say
to them. Right now, we needed the comms open since everyone was
completely in a panic and communicating. Some needed help,
others were trying to keep clear formations. I was communicating
with my team, but I was also listening to the military frequency
as well.
And the alien ships also started shooting on us as well. I heard
military ships starting to go down and the military fighter
pilots talking desperately as we started to lose more of our
forces.
As I flew trying to shoot a ship, a few got behind me and tried
to shoot me. I dodged the shots. They were the same green energy
the big ship was firing, only smaller.
Me: Oh you did NOT shoot that green sh*t at me! I say
sarcastically as I dodged the ships shooting at me.
Zack: I got ya, commander. I ain't letting you get got by ET! He
says jokingly to me as he shoots at the ships behind me and
chases them off.
Me: Thanks, Zack. Good save. I say to him.
We were scrambling around trying to shoot the alien ships in a
massive dogfight. Our forces went from ordered structure to pure
chaos in 10 seconds flat.
We were firing on the ships, but doing no damage. My squad and I
were also trying to help defend the military fighters who were
helping us as well once the alien ships started chasing us
around.
Only good thing was the alien ships were very distinct. They
were so white it was hard to mistake them for our ships. The
Wolfwings were all solid black with red wolf symbols on the
wings, and the military's fighters were green camo colors with
the US Flag symbol on the wings. In human society, we color our
fighters specifically for identification (And a little bit of
pride) in addition to credentials in order to easily identify
people. Because when you fly through space, sometimes visual
confirmation works in addition to transmitted digital
credentials we use for identification.
However, something was wrong. While we were in a panic, the
alien ships, despite the pure chaos, seemed in perfect tune with
each other. Every time I saw two of them fly by each other, they
always turned at just the right angles. It was like they knew
exactly where their companions would fly and they never flew
into each other when they flew by each other. And no matter how
chaotic it got, they didn't seem to have the same formation
issues we were having. Groups were flying together and shooting
at us.
Mecha Shadow: These aliens are more coordinated than us. They're
not just communicating like we are.
Eric: I agree... This is more than just a clear command
structure. The ships may share a hive mind. They're too well
coordinated for this to be made up on the fly like our
formations are.
Mecha Shadow and Eric said what I was thinking.
Zack: We can't even damage these things, how do we even handle
this? He says, trying to come up with a strategy as we continue
dodging ships and trying to shoot down the ships unsuccessfully.
I was trying to use my plasma cannons to try and do enough
damage to the shield, but the shield didn't seem like it was
taking any heat from my plasma.
Mecha Shadow: I have an idea... I'm going to try seeing if I can
find a way to puncture the ships shields. He says as he seemed
to be doing something, but he didn't tell us what. But we trust
each other, so we let him do his thing. He'd tell us when the
time was right, and we were certain of that.
We continued trying to find a way to puncture the shields.
Goten: If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. He says jokingly.
Cause I'm tired of shooting these stupid things and doing no
damage! He says bitterly.
Kierran: I tried to shadow meld and move into the alien ships.
But the energy shield blocks me from accessing it. The energy
shields may be putting the space inside in some kind of pocket
dimension. That's the only way I wouldn't be able to access them
from the shadows. He explains. That was a strategy that he used
sometimes. Sometimes he would be able to put his ship on
autopilot and then teleport using shadows to get into enemy
bases and enemy fighters by connecting to shadows in other
ships, then take out the enemy in their own ship. Usually, he
was really good at that, and assassinating enemies. Apparently
that didn't work this time.
Nightbane: Their shields aren't like ours. Our shots aren't
reflecting off the ships, they're being dispelled completely.
They work differently, but it's possible that strong enough
shots might overload their ability to dispel energy... Assuming
it's being dispelled and not converted into energy they can
recycle. Which a race like this that travels galaxies will need
to do in order to not run out of resources in deep space. He
explains.
Me: Let's try a few dark matter missiles and see what happens.
Just don't waste your shots, and don't take too many. And let's
try and help out the military fighters while we're at it.
They're struggling more than we are. I say to my squad. My squad
were pretty elite pilots, and my Wolfwings made things easier
for us compared to other pilots. We have certain enhancements to
our ships other militaries haven't readily made available to
their fighters.
I hear a few dark matter missiles explode, and I fire a couple
at the alien ships.
Thankfully, I managed something. When I shot the ship, the
impact force knocked it into another alien ship and the two
shields sparked and broke each other when they hit each other.
The two ships exploded from the impact.
Me: Guys! Dark matter missile them into the other ships. Their
ships can't fully cancel out the impact of their ships if they
crash into each other! I say to my crew.
Kierran: Easier said than done. That's going to require some
precise shooting and- He stops before finishing. And I knew
why...
The alien ships were spacing out almost immediately. When I
caused two to crash into each other, the ships responded
quickly.
Zack: Okay... That's a little freaky. They adapt quick! He says.
Me: Darn it! They responded too quickly! I thought we'd at least
get a few more before they caught on! I say angrily.
It was quiet on the comms for a few moments as we continued to
try and shoot them. I tried another dark matter missile to see
if I could overpower the shields they were using. But the impact
just knocked it a little before it course corrected and flew
normally again.
Me: Darn it... Not even the dark matter is strong enough to
punch them out! I say angrily.
I then saw to the side a few of the alien ships explode when
their shields were punctured by plasma cannons. Mecha Shadow
flew by the destroyed ships and started shooting more ships.
Mecha Shadow: I have a solution. We can puncture their shields.
He says over the comms. He was also in the process of shooting
other ships saving a few military ships. Or at least, that's
what my radar seemed to show since I couldn't visually see him
or his Wolfwing when he flew out of my field of vision.
Nightbane: Care to share with the class? He says sarcastically.
Mecha Shadow: Overclock your plasma cannons to 200%. Then
increase Conductivity by 50% and adjust plasma frequency to
146.8 WL. A few good shots will let you puncture their shields.
He says. Keep an eye on your temperature gauges, though. Don't
keep the settings too long, and try to space out your shots if
possible to avoid overheating. Or you'll overload your cooling
systems.
Goten: Finally! He says, while I assume he was modifying his
plasma settings.
Thankfully one standard feature on our plasma cannons is that we
can change the intensity and modify the settings of the plasma
cannons. It's not something we usually do, since there's usually
no need for it, but certain materials can be difficult to
destroy without the right settings.
So, quick rundown. Overclock means we punch up how much energy
we put out per shot. More energy equals stronger shots. Not much
to explain there. Conductivity changes the electromagnetic force
to make the energy more static and not so much like just a beam
of pure plasma. It helps with shooting metallic armor that
resists normal plasma shots because conductivity travels through
matter like conducting an electrical current. And lastly,
there's the frequency. WL means wavelength. It's a unique of
measurement for energy weapons. All energy weapons operate on
wavelengths, which we measure in the unit WL. We pronounce it as
a word like "well." Certain frequencies can do more damage to
certain things than other frequencies, and frequences tend to
counter each other.
I get on the comms with the military fighters with the
information that Mecha Shadow gave us.
Me: We have a way to shoot the ships down! I'm going to send you
the settings we're using. Adjust to whatever your equivalent is
and you should be able to punch out those ships! But be careful
because these settings will put a lot of strain on your plasma
cannon systems. I say as I send them the settings.
As we set our ships, the alien ships seem to respond by being
more evasive as we start shooting their ships down. While they
were still shooting our ships down too, we were doing pretty
well countering them. But they knew we'd figured out how to
punch through them. So they were acting accordingly.
Zack: Yeah! Come and get it, you alien bastards! Who's your
daddy?! He says jokingly as he starts to shoot down some of the
enemy ships.
I saw a number of ships getting destroyed by members of my team,
and a few destroyed by the other fighters.
Then something happened. The ships started flying away from us
and down into the city.
Goten: Are they running away? He says as he notices the ships
flying away.
Eric: No. This is strategic. They're probably planning to use
the buildings for cover, either that or they're trying to put us
on the defensive by attacking the city... Or both. He says.
Then the ships started shooting at the buildings. A couple
collapsed under the assault of multiple ships.
Me: Intercept them! Don't let them bring down those buildings!
There may still be people inside them! I say as me and my squad
give chase to the alien ships.
We fly down into the city. We start flying past buildings as we
chase down the enemy fighters.
- Dogfight through the City Theme: Corneria (Star Fox Zero
version) (

)
The battle took on a new element as we start flying through the
city, weaving around the skyscrapers to shoot down the enemies.
If you know how tall skyscrapers are in the past, then you're
not ready for how tall buildings our in our time. Thanks to
materials we developed, and good structural engineering, we have
skyscrapers that reach above mountain tops. A city like New York
has very tall buildings, and almost all of the buildings were so
tall that it was hard to move above them once you were below a
certain point.
Me: Careful! Watch your corners when you turn. Don't clip the
buildings. And watch your fire on the buildings. We don't want
to cause more destruction. I say over the comms.
Mecha Shadow: Also, we don't want to destroy the buildings. Or
we might cause the buildings to come down on our heads. It would
take us out, but probably not the enemy ships. And the enemy
ships may try and use that to their advantage.
As we move through the city, it became even more chaotic. We
were turning corners constantly and the radar couldn't keep up
with the fighters around us due to the buildings all around us.
We turn corners and chase the alien ships, shooting them down,
and trying to avoid being shot down.
Nightbane: HOLY- He says loudly. That was too close! He says,
narrowly missing one of the alien fighters when it came around
the corner of the building.
Zack: You okay, bud? He says to Nightbane.
Nightbane: Yeah... That got the old blood pressure going,
though. He says jokingly.
Me: Careful. It's easy to not see something coming around the
corner.
Just then, a military fighter was talking about how we should
get above the buildings, but when they tried, they were shot
down by the main ship. It seemed the main ship was done sitting
out of the fight and taking an active approach to keep us
trapped below the building lines.
Zack: The big ship seems to want to hold us down here. He says.
Goten: But why? Couldn't it just have shot us down before?
Nightbane: My guess is the big ship wants the smaller ships to
take us out. It could be a strategy. Maybe they're more scared
of us than we thought.
Eric: I don't think so. So far, these aliens seem very prideful.
When we turn the tide, they adapt their strategy. They're
confident, to be sure. My guess is that they want the smaller
ships to take us out to prove they can fight us on our own terms
since they seem to be trying to match our strategies. I think
earlier when we attacked, they were observing us to see how we
fought.
Mecha Shadow: I agree with that assessment. This race seems very
confident in their technology and strategies. It seems they want
to defeat us using pre-recorded strategies, as though they want
to show they're superiority to us that we're not worth their
full attention.
Eric: Yeah. That's my analysis too.
Me: Then we're gonna have to prove them wrong. I say as I
continue weaving around buildings, taking out enemy ships.
Goten: Oh crap! I almost shot down a friendly! He says over
comms. It's hard to tell who's friendly and who's not when
everyone's coming around the corner so fast! So be careful guys.
He says, trying to warn us.
Me: Probably another tier to their strategy. They probably have
an easier time with this kind of dogfighting than we do. Our
radars are pretty much useless with all these buildings blocking
us. I say.
Mecha Shadow: They do have an advantage in that their mother
ship above us has a direct view of the city and can relay that
info the smaller ships. If they do communicate through a hive
mind like Eric and I suspect, then they definitely have a major
advantage over us like this.
Zack: Yeah, we're going to have to take on that mothership
sooner or later... Question is, can we get close without it
shooting us down?
Kierran: It's gonna take some fancy flying to get to that big
ship and avoid its cannons. Mecha Shadow could probably do it,
but the rest of us, I'm not sure. Also, there's no guarantee
that we will be able to puncture their mothership shield the
same way we're doing to these ships.
Me: We're gonna have to try something. I think it's going to see
through any attempt to lure it down to our level.
Nightbane: I agree with the commander on that one. We're gonna
have to go up there.
Zack: And if we don't take out the mothership, then they may
start sending more fighters down if they aren't already. We'll
risk being overrun soon if we don't make a play.
As I shoot down another few alien ships, I think in my head. Any
way I can think to handle this, it's likely we'll lose a few
members trying to make a run toward the mothership. Mecha Shadow
could likely pilot through if he can see the shots coming. Maybe
Goten could dodge the shots from the ship above with his
Sharingan. But it was risky.
Goten: So... Kindron? What do we do? He asks me over comms.
Me: I don't know yet. We focus on taking out the smaller ships
to reduce casualties. If anyone has any ideas for strategies,
anytime would be good. I'd prefer a strategy that doesn't
sacrifice people.
As I say that, one of the military squad commanders comes on the
comms.
Military Commander: If we all come up at the same time, maybe we
can divide its attention. It can only shoot at so many of us at
a time, right?
Me: No. That's a bad idea commander. I say to the commander.
Then the smaller ships will come up behind us and take us out
before we reach the mothership. Not to mention we don't know how
many cannons that thing has or where they are. Earlier, we
didn't see any towers on the ship or outer cannons. I find it
hard to believe a ship that size doesn't have some defense
cannons. But we didn't see them since they didn't shoot at us.
So it's impossible to guess how many would be shooting at us. I
explain.
Military Commander: Well, we're not going to make any progress
like this. We're going to have to make a move soon or we're
going to get too worn down to fight the mothership. Our people
are almost out of missiles, and our plasma cannons aren't gonna
last for too much longer without risking cooking us alive.
Me: That I do agree with. My team may be in the same boat. I say
to the military squad commander. As long as our gravity cannons
were active, we wouldn't run out of dark matter missiles, but we
still had our temperature gauges to worry about.
Mecha Shadow: I recommend the flight squadrons stay below the
city building lines. Since our ships are more agile and
stronger, we might be able to make it to the ship. If we use our
plasma cannons to punch through the shield at the sides of the
ship, we can try and fire our dark matter missiles under their
shields before they fully reform.
I stop and think for a moment. I was really worried about losing
my team if this failed.
Nightbane: I agree with Mecha Shadow. That's the best strategy.
Kierran: I agree as well.
Goten: Same here.
Zack: And I agree too.
My hands were shaking.
Me: Fine... But be careful. You take damage, don't try and power
through. And if our plasma cannons cannot puncture the shields,
then we retreat. I say to them. They were all in agreement, and
I was the one hesitating. I normally don't do that. But we were
in a tough spot. I think we fell for the trap that these aliens
laid out for us... And I admit it. I was scared. This strategy
had a high risk of at least one of us dying. I'd felt the risk
before, and seen members of my team die in battle, but this
felt... more real... than any fight in a long time. My team was
always the superior fighters, and now we're taking on a threat
that's making us look like amateurs.
Me: Alright team... Let's do this. Adjust gravity burners to
200%. That should give us an edge once we get above the sky
lines. And like before, keep an eye on your temperature gauges.
I say to the group. Gravity burners control our movement.
Adjusting it higher will make us move faster. Which we needed
for this. But as you might guess, increasing it puts more strain
on our ships.
And with that, we moved above the buildings. We took out enough
of the smaller ships that I think we thinned out the herd, so to
speak.
- Taking on the Mothership Theme: Return to Corneria (
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfhYbdtDnb4
)
We were shoot at almost instantly.
Yeah, the big ship seemed to be ready for an attack. Though we
probably all expected it to be ready given how much these aliens
seem to adapt to our strategies.
As we fly, we dodge the cannons. The front of the ship had a
large cannon that was firing a large laser at us, and it looked
like there were a bunch of smaller guns on the sides. All of
which were trying to shoot us down.
I did see other ships coming out of the hangers. So it looked
like they were going to unleash more on us.
When we made it into the ships range, the smaller ships tried to
shoot at us, while the big ship was still shooting at us as
well.
Thankfully, we dodged the cannons and started shooting down the
smaller ships.
Me: Damn... These things are persistant. I say bitterly as I
shoot down more of the ships.
Mecha Shadow: That just means they're being more cautious now.
Just then, the big alien ship wasn't just shooting energy
bullets, but the ship was also shooting what looked like green
lightning from some of its guns.
As we fly and dodged, I saw one of my teammates get hit. When it
happened, my heart sank.
Zack: Dammit! They got me good... He says as one of his wings
seems to fall off. Sorry guys. I activated the emergency
balancer, but I'm gonna have to pull back. He says before he
pulls his ship back.
Me: It's fine, Zack. Return to base. You can't do anything more
right now. I say to him. Somewhat relieved.
Kierran: I might have to return to base soon, too... My
temperature gauge is reaching critical levels. He says to the
group.
Me: Pull back if you have to, Kierran. Don't force yourself.
Mecha Shadow: Thankfully, I don't need to worry about the
temperature in my cockpit. As long as I don't overheat myself,
I'll be good. He says. I think that was a subtle hint that his
temperature gauges were high too and he didn't say anything
since he wasn't getting cooked alive. We needed to finish this
soon or we were all gonna have to retreat.
Kierran: It's fine. I'm trying to turn my plasma cannons down a
bit. I may have to piggy back off one of you when we shoot the
shield to make a hole.
Me: That's fine. Whoever you get close to, just piggy back on
them. Attacking in groups may do more damage anyway.
Goten: Hey guys... I'm looking at the ship with my sharingan
eye. He says to the group.
Nightbane: What do you see, kid? Besides a giant ass white ship.
He says jokingly.
Goten: There's enough space between the shield and the surface
of the ship. If we puncture the ship shield and fly inside, we
might be able to fly along the surface of the ship and try to
take out the ship from under their shield.
Me: It's a good strategy, but if they can adjust shield size
then we're gonna be smushed hard.
Nightbane: Yeah, I don't think Mecha Shadow can handle any more
energy construction law breaks. They're breaking every law.
Me: Well, we'll write them a ticket for it. I say somewhat
jokingly.
Goten: So what do you guys think? Should we try?
Me: I think we should risk it. Either it works or it doesn't. I
don't think we'll do enough damage just trying to hit singular
points. I say as I fly toward the mother ship. But first we need
to test whether the plasma cannons can open up the shields.
Mecha Shadow: Agreed. I'm worried these aliens may change the
frequency of their shields to counter us.
Eric: If they could do that, I think they would have done it
earlier.
Nightbane: That's assuming the shields work the same. The bigger
ship's shield may be more advanced.
Me: Well, we're not gonna find out sitting here. So move in and
follow my lead. I say as I mark a spot on the ship for us all to
attack.
As we fire our cannons on the ship's shield, the ship's shield
breaks at the spot where we fire. It seems like our plasma
cannons settings were still working well on the ship.
As we punch a hole, we all fly down under the shield.
Me: Be careful, guys... Don't fly too close to the shield, and
don't fly down and hit the ship. I say to my teammates. Yeah, I
know I sound overprotective. I can't help it.
Me: Pick your targets carefully. Target anything that looks
important. If we're gonna take this thing down, we need to start
some kind of reaction that takes out the ship.
Goten: What about that giant energy cannon on the front? Think
we can do enough damage to it? From what I could see with my
Sharingan when I used it, there's a lot of stored energy in that
thing.
Nightbane: That's useful info. Maybe we should target that.
Me: Yeah. Let's do some damage along the way though. Dark matter
missile areas along the side of the ship. I say as we fly under
their shields.
There were cannons firing at us, but not nearly as many could
fire at us once we were under their shield. And Mecha Shadow and
I were taking out the cannons we could hit. I assumed everyone
was reaching overheating level. I didn't mention it earlier, but
I was pulling the heat from my ship into my dark flame magic
power in order to keep my temperature gauge down. So Mecha
Shadow and I were in the best positions to fire for far longer.
I guess technically, Nightbane's ice manipulation could do
something similar...
Me: How's everyone's temperature gauges looking? I ask the
group. I realized I needed an update.
Kierran: I'm cooling off. I can fire a dark matter missile or
two when needed, but that's all I am going to have left.
Goten: Same here. I'm almost at my limit.
Mecha Shadow: I'm good to keep going. But if this battle doesn't
end soon, I may also have to back off.
Nightbane: I'm good to keep going. My ice power is keeping my
ship nice and frosty. He says jokingly.
Eric: I might have to back off soon too.
Me: Alright. Then let's hit the cannon and break off. If this
doesn't work, we're going to have to order a retreat. I say to
the group.
I fly alongside my friends, and we all reach the large canon on
the front. Once we got close, we start firing our dark matter
missiles. I wish I could charge a magic attack to shoot, but it
wouldn't do all that much damage on a ship this big.
But thankfully, the dark matter missiles seem to react
negatively with the energy in the cannon. The whole cannon
starts to turn purple instead of green.
Nightbane: Last one out buys the victory pizza. He says joking
as he starts shooting the shield alongside us so we could escape
the ship's shield. We all shoot too and break a hole in the
shield so we could get out. It was tight, but we managed it.
We all fly out quickly. As we fly and turn around, we see the
ship start to explode from the inside. I nervously wait a
moment.
But the ship soon blows up and goes down.
But strangely... It didn't go down before trying one last thing.
The ship seems to release some green laser that hits my ship.
Goten: Kindron!
Nightbane: What the heck was that?!
I close my eyes, until I realize it did no damage.
Me: I'm okay... It didn't do any damage. I say as I try to check
my scanners. And when I ran a scan on my ship, nothing was
wrong.
Mecha Shadow: Are you sure? There's no way that was a dud. He
says to me.
As I check my ship, I notice something.
Me: Wait... These energy readings... They're almost like x-rays.
Were they scanning me? I ask curiously.
Nightbane: Well, whatever the case, we need to go. Let's help
the military squadron. Then we need to go back to base and
prepare for fighting the next ship. He says to me.
Me: Your right. Let's help the other ships.
As my team goes and shoots down the ships in the city, soon, we
find ourselves victorious. But we were all overheating, and
needed to get back to our respective bases before trying to move
to the other cities.
We won the first battle.
Hopefully we could win the war too...
- Ending Theme: Briefing 2 (

)
We'd soon come to find out that this was only the first wave.
While we did combat the Draxilon pretty effectively, they fought
back.
What followed that day was a long and brutal war against the
Draxilon. And humanity barely held on through that war.
Humanity responded quickly. We called all the space stations
home to protect Earth.
You see, Earth is the one location we cannot afford to lose.
Humanity can't survive in space stations forever without
resources from earth, and we wouldn't be able to build more
stations without physical materials we couldn't create
artificially.
The stations response to come to earth was a protocol called the
Earth Defense Force Initiative. If Earth was ever attacked,
whether by humans or another force, the other stations would
come together and defend earth, putting aside any political or
moral rivalries.
And the stations did exactly that, coming to Earth in order to
repel the Draxilon.
All the stations that gathered around earth would be led by Zeus
Station, as they headed the war against the Draxilon.
The space stations formed a protective area around earth, and my
team helped them keep the Draxilon from taking Earth. In its
darkest hour, humanity stood together.
Oh, yeah. And when that ship scanned me... That too would come
to bite us all.
But that's a story for another time.
This was the story of what we would come to call:
The Human/Draxilon War.
End.
