       Prologue:
It was another day for politician Dale Kelly. He was running for
the next election of town mayor for Las Vegas. For him, things
       were looking up...
       Except for one thing...
He was being targeted by the Black Reaper. Before Hei became
officially known as Hei Darkfire, he was simply Kindron Darkfire
II, a vampire born of the Darkfire clan.
But Dale was smart. He knew he couldn't escape the Black Reaper.
And he knew he couldn't fight off the supernatural threats in
the city that had been appearing as of late.
Most people weren't aware of what was happening at night... At
night when the monsters would come out.
Dale wasn't stupid. He knew why he was being targetted. Things
he'd done he'd never admit to anyone. Because if his secrets got
out, his political career would be gone.
It started with a warning. Dale saw some kind of shadowy
creature invade one of his storehouses where he kept some...
       Less than legal substances.
No one knew this, but Donovan Shadow-Rowe, who would come to be
known as Future Donny after he found his way to London, had
unintentionally caused a change to the timeline by being present
at the storehouse that night, stealing some of Dale's...
substances. And let's be honest. We all know what Future Donny
cares about. And those familiar with the London story of how he
spent time in this time period are probably going to be able to
guess what Donny was after. Because it's exactly what you think
       if you know him.
       This wasn't supposed to happen...
Dale was never supposed to find out that people were hunting him
until it was too late. Before Donny changed destiny, Dale was
just another statistic. Another kill on the Black Reaper's list.
But even as smart as he was, Dale didn't actually realize that
       he'd changed his destiny itself.
Dale had heard rumors of creatures of the night, but had
       dismissed them as rumors.
Because surely something as ridiculous as vampires and
       werewolves couldn't be real...
       Right?
But when he did his research... He realized the truth. He
figured it out from criminal connections. A connection he was
       never supposed to make.
And when he found out the Black Reaper was coming to kill him,
       he only had one response:
       "I'm a dead man..."
But all was not lost for Dale Kelly. Because while researching
vampires and werewolves, he heard rumors of hunters in Europe
who had fought off such creatures for years from the police.
Those few police that had seen vampires in the night knew of
certain names in Europe that had hunted vampires when they had
       done their own research.
One name stood above the rest to him though.
He needed help, and who better to fight off creatures of the
night after his life than someone who has killed entire vampire
       clans and werewolf tribes.
So he made the call. He called the hunters in Europe to get in
       touch with this legendary figure...
But Dale found out that this hunter was not someone who liked
injustice, and would oppose any injustice, which would include
Dale if Dale exposed his secrets. So Dale made the decision that
he'd withhold the extent of why he was being hunted. So he
concocted a story. A story about how he was trying to end the
underground trading of humans, which he had found out vampires
were behind. Like any good politician, it wasn't all untrue, but
a lot of the story was either managed or missing. It left a
simple explanation for why he was being targetted.
This might be Dale Kelly's only chance to avoid his fate.
And little did he know just what he'd done.
The first butterfly effect of events that would change the Sin
       City timeline...
All because Future Donny wanted his "substances."
       A few weeks later:
Dale Kelly was in his office, when the lights suddenly went out.
Dale stopped as he realized it was only his building. Across the
street, he could see the lights still on. He was on the second
floor, and it looked like his whole building had lost power.
This was it... Dale knew what was about to happen next.
As he went to sit down, he saw the figure in the corner of the
room. Coming out of the shadow.
       The Black Reaper.
Turns out, the first villain to find him was the assassin who
Dale had feared the most. And Hei had come to kill another
       corrupt politician.
Hei: You know why I'm here. He says to Dale as he walks up to
him and takes out one of his knives. It's time to pay for what
       you've done.
As Hei raises his knife to strike, Hei is surprised by a large
figure appearing behind him that grabs his wrist before Hei
could fully sense the new figure's arrival.
Hei responds quickly and takes out another knife with his free
hand, and the figure catches his wrist with his other hand.
As the two move into the light coming in from the window, the
figure is revealed to be Kindron, in his full Wolf Mask outfit.
It was impossible to tell who Kindron was with the mask, and the
black cloak covering his entire body, aside from the gloves on
       his hands.
Hei tries to break Kindron's grip, but Hei doesn't realize that
Kindron was using the Potence vampire discipline Imprint, which
       increased his grip strength.
Hei thinks to himself. He almost recognized the Imprint
discipline skill, but assumed it was just Kindron's raw
strength. Hei then knees Kindron in the gut, which barely
registers to Kindron. But it does force Kindron to step back and
       release Hei.
Kindron just looks at Hei, his eyes not visible behind his wolf
       mask.
Kindron: I'm afraid I can't let you kill him. He says to Hei.
The two stand there for a moment, as they look at each other and
       study each other's presence.
Hei: I didn't even sense him appear, nor catch any sign of his
presence. And how did he overpower me just now? And I still
can't sense him. His scent. It's not even there... He thinks to
himself. He had no way of knowing how Kindron was so skilled at
suppressing his presence and blending in, or how Kindron had
special scent gel in the lining of his cloak and clothes that
was meant to cover up his scent.
Kindron: So, this is the Black Reaper? I can't let my guard down
for an instant then if half of what I heard about him is true.
       Kindron thinks to himself.
The two brothers, not even knowing they were related, stand for
a moment staring each other down.
It was completely unplanned... The two brothers standing in
front of each other about 80 years before they were supposed to
       meet for the first time.
Kindron and Hei had no idea. Two Darkfires with the same name,
and masks to wear that hid their identity. They had no way of
       knowing how similar they were.
Both sought justice. One through redemption. And one through
       murder.
Hei: Walk away... I don't know who you are, but this trash isn't
worth dying for. He says, his voice echoing into the room.
Kindron: I can't do that. Sorry. But my job is to protect this
man. I'd prefer you walk away so that we can all walk away from
this. He says, his voice deep, but partially suppressed just
       like his presence.
Hei: I can't do that. If you get in my way... Then I can't
guarantee your life in this battle.
Kindron: I could say the same to you. He says as he puts his
       hand on his sword.
Hei: So be it. He says simply.
Kindron got ready to draw his black bladed holy sword, Shinso,
as Hei charges Kindron, using vampire celerity to boost his
speed to try and stop Kindron before he could draw his sword.
But Kindron knew what Hei was trying to do. And he was ready.
Kindron: Shingetsu Style: Dragon Soar Slash! He says as he draws
his sword in a battojutsu and Nadeshiko substyle attack. The
drawing of his sword creates a slashing wave, which cuts right
through Hei's knives and slices his jacket into ribbons.
Hei: It wasn't just one slash... You hit me with multiple
simultaneous attacks. He says, analyzing Kindron's attack as he
removes his jacket and tosses it aside. The jacket makes a loud
thump from the weight, and creaks the floor as the floor
underneath the jacket seemed to have trouble supporting it.
Kindron: You're fast if you can tell that. He says as he holds
his sword in a combat ready stance.
Hei: So are you. Not just anyone can get a hit in on me. He says
as he summons his two swords on his back in bursts of dark
flames, while his wounds were healing in bursts of dark flames.
But Hei saw hesitation on Kindron's face when Kindron saw the
black flames, and took the moment to strike.
Hei drew his two swords, a black sword called Zangetsu and a
silver sword with a black handle named Kusanagi. And in a flash,
Hei had attacked Kindron with his two swords.
However, thanks to Kindron's vampire discipline, Adamantine,
Kindron's body hardened and managed to resist the attack.
Hei, once again, almost recognized the discipline being used.
But he also couldn't discount that Kindron was just a tank and
had both raw strength and durability given his size.
Kindron jumps back, having been slashed with his wounds
bleeding. For the moment, he suppresses his regeneration. Though
he wasn't badly injured, he didn't want others to know he was a
supernatural creature if his wounds regenerated.
Kindron stands up, seemingly able to continue fighting.
Kindron: That's what I get for getting distracted. He says with
a scowl, suppressing the pain with his Prowess of Pain vampire
       discipline to avoid the pain.
Hei: Why DID you get distracted? He asks curiously, holding his
       two swords ready.
Kindron: Those black flames... Where did you learn them? He
asks, almost as though he were changing the subject. But little
did Hei know that it was the reason Kindron got distracted.
Hei: Why would I tell you that? He says as he readies his swords
       again.
Kindron: I need to know... So I can figure out who I am. He says
       to Hei, which confuses Hei.
Hei: I don't care. He says simply as he attacks again, this time
       using his Celerity training.
But this time, Kindron uses his vampire celerity training to
keep up with Hei as Hei starts attacking with his two handed
       combat sword style.
Kindron uses his Shingetsu style, and parries Hei's swords as
the two spin around the room, moving extremely fast as they
clash swords and parry each other.
Even though Kindron wasn't healing from his wounds, he seemed
able to continue fighting as he and Hei both manage to land
slashes on each other. Though it was mostly superficial damage,
       like grazes from the blades.
As they clash swords, Kindron holds back Hei's swords. When Hei
tries to pull back one sword to attack, Kindron starts pushing
Hei back, as Kindron uses his physical strength to overpower
       Hei.
Hei is forced to bring his other sword to hold Kindron's back,
and Kindron takes the moment to use the Potence discipline
skill, Flick, as he flicks his finger and the shock wave
generated from Kindron's finger flick blasts Hei through the
       wall.
Kindron brings Shinso up, as Hei fires holy lightning from
       behind the wall.
As Kindron brings his sword up, his sword counter's Hei's
lightning with its own as Kindron cuts down the lightning
       attack.
However, the attack had been a ploy, as Hei appears right behind
Kindron and slashes him in the back with an attack from his
sword, Zangetsu, that used black flames.
Kindron growls in pain as the sword leaves a slash on his back,
and the flames seem to burn his back.
However, out of view of Hei and Dale, Kindron's back absorbs the
black flames. But Kindron instead waves his hand using his
Potence skill again to create a wave of air under the guise of
putting out the fire with his wave of air.
Hei: How... You can negate my black flames? Those flames should
burn you alive! He says to Kindron as he notices the black
flames had stopped burning on Kindron's back. Though Kindron was
injured, the wound wasn't bleeding since the flames cauterized
       the wound.
Kindron: Flames are easy to burn out if you know how. Without
oxygen, fires cannot burn, no matter how hot they are. He says
as he gets back into a combat stance.
Hei gets into a combat stance.
Hei: You can't win. I'm faster than you. He says to Kindron.
Kindron: You may be faster, but I'm stronger.
Hei: Doesn't matter if you can't hit me.
Kindron almost smiles under his mask.
Kindron: Hasn't stopped me yet. He says confidently.
Hei growls a bit under his mask.
Hei: Such a waste. You shouldn't be protecting a criminal like
       this!
Kindron stops for a moment as he lowers his sword.
Kindron: What do you mean? He says to Hei, hesitating. He knew
hesitation was bad when Hei was so fast, but he couldn't help
       it.
Meanwhile, Dale, who hadn't been able to leave because the fight
had blocked his path to the door, almost gasps.
Hei: This man is a criminal. Did you not know? He says simply.
Kindron: What crimes is he being accused of? He says back to
       Hei.
Hei: Human trafficking. Illegal drugs. Even connections to the
       Big Man of Crime.
Kindron looks over to Dale. Kindron's eyes couldn't be seen, but
the fury coming off of him at being deceived was unmistakable.
       Kindron: Is this true?
Dale: Of course not! I would never do any such thing!
Kindron's gaze on Dale doesn't falter as Kindron is able to
sense Dale was lying. And it seemed that it had given Kindron
       his answer.
Kindron: Tell me the truth. He says in quiet anger. I can tell
       when you're lying.
Dale: Are you really going to believe that man?! He's a
murderer! An assassin for hire! They'll make you believe
       anything!
       Kindron turns to Hei.
       Kindron: Is that true?
Hei: Yes. I am an assassin. I'm the Black Reaper. He says to
Kindron, not hiding the truth about him.
Kindron turns back to Dale as he puts Shinso back in the sheath.
Kindron: Tell me honestly. Are you guilty of those crimes?
Dale: Of course not! He says, trying to further deny.
Hei: You can tell he's lying. He says to Kindron.
Kindron: Yes. I can. He says as he turns back to Hei.
Hei: Then get out of my way and let me do my job. The world is
better off without another scum like him.
Kindron: I'm afraid I can't. He says, somewhat sad.
Hei: What? He says simply in disbelief. Why would you side with
       this man?!
Kindron: I'm not. He explains. But I'm also not going to kill
       him.
Hei: If you don't kill him, I will. He says to Kindron, holding
       his swords up.
Kindron takes his sword out and points it at Hei.
Kindron: There's better ways to solve your problems than
murdering people. I'm not going to side with a vigilante who's
       exacting his own justice.
Hei: I kill people like him to protect others! He says angrily.
Kindron: And I protect others from people like you. He says
       simply.
Hei gets angry and tries to slash Kindron.
Kindron points his sword at Hei.
Kindron: Shoot to kill... Shinso! He says, releasing the power
of Shinso as Shinso's blade extends and tries to pierce Hei.
Hei brings his swords up to try and block, but the force of the
attack still pushes him through the wall again, and forces Hei
       away from Kindron.
As Kindron calls Shinso's blade back, Kindron waits for a
moment, expecting Hei to come out of the wall to attack again.
However, after a long pause, Kindron realizes that Hei took the
       chance to leave.
As Kindron walks into the next room, curious, he hears Hei's
last words, as though left behind by his presence.
Hei: You win this round... So you're free to do what you want.
But if I don't like your methods, I will kill him. And you if I
find you're a criminal too. Hei says as he vanishes.
Kindron nods and goes back into the room with Dale.
Kindron walks up to Dale, standing over the table like a silent
       giant.
Dale: Are you going to kill me? He says nervously.
Kindron: No. I only kill if there's no other option. I believe
in redemption. He says, his breath slowing and getting heavy
from the injuries on his chest that were finally starting to
catch up with him. Kindron knew he was going to have to let his
regeneration heal his wounds soon, or he'd be in trouble. He'd
already made his wounds worse by ignoring the pain as his
muscles had started tearing when he moved too hard.
Dale: Then... What do you want? He says to Kindron.
Kindron: You're going to admit the wrongs you've committed. Do
that, and I'll continue protecting you from the Black Reaper and
any others that come for you.
Dale: Are you kidding?! That's a death sentence! You're under
       contract to pr-
Dale is interrupted by Kindron's gloved hand at Dale's throat,
almost like Kindron was going to cut his head off with his hand
       alone.
Kindron: This is your choice. If you don't come clean, others
will expose you. Then I can't protect you. I can protect you as
long as I can, but I don't protect criminals. You broke the
contract by not telling me the full story. If I'd have known you
were hiding such crimes like human trafficking, I'd have never
agreed to be your bodyguard. He explains to Dale.
Dale, completely taken aback, looks up to Kindron.
Dale: Fine... I have no choice. If you can protect me, then I'll
expose everything. If it's between death or the end of my
career, then I'll settle for my career being over. He says with
       a sigh.
Kindron lowers his hand and holds it out to him.
Kindron: That's the first thing you've said tonight that I
believe. He says to Dale. Don't worry. I will protect you. I am
not going to judge you. But I also can't condone your crimes.
Lucky for you, this can be a path of redemption.
Dale: Or a path of damnation. He mutters.
Kindron: Look. I'm not here to tell you what to do. If you don't
want to change, that's on you. But I'm offering you an out. And
if Hei comes back, you are going to want to show that you're
trying or else I don't think he'll run away a second time. And
the second time, I might actually have to put in my full
strength, and that's not something you want to see. He says
       grimly.
Dale: Why not? He says, tilting his head.
Kindron: Because... everyone who sees who I really am rejects
me. And you'd be no different. He explains.
Dale: Fine. He says, not arguing anymore. Let me have someone
       patch you up...
Kindron: I'm fine. I'll patch myself up and be ready next time.
He says simply as he walks out of the room to fix his clothes
       and regenerate his wounds.
Dale felt truly defeated... But he also realized this was his
       only shot at survival.
He just hoped that this mysterious figure could protect him from
       what was coming next.
       Elsewhere, not long after.
Hei managed to arrive to his safehouse, and beings angrily
breaking things as his frustration gets the better of him.
In a panic, Drake rushes in, seeing Hei's frustration.
Since this was before Drake got human form, he was in his bone
dragon form, which looked like a black little dragon skeleton
that was only three feet tall when he was on all fours, with a
red heart protected by dark energy.
Drake: What's going on, Hei?! He says to Hei using telepathy,
which was his only way of speaking since he had no voice box or
any vocal cords. Though upon second glance, he saw the blood on
Hei's clothes, and the fact that Hei was wearing one of his
       backup jackets.
Hei: I had to run from a fight! I'm not supposed to lose! He
says as he kicks a table in half.
Drake: You lost another fight? Not against that Tombstone guy I
hope? You were barely alive last time you fought him.
Hei: No... This was some kind of bodyguard or hunter... I don't
know. He says, trying to analyze his earlier fight with Kindron.
       Drake: Was he good?
Hei: Annoyingly so. He countered every move I could throw at
him. We were evenly matched, though he landed more hits on me
than I got on him. He explains. He was stronger, and I was
       faster.
Drake: Seeing you like this... I don't know what to say. Even
Tombstone didn't put you in such an angry state. He says,
remembering when Hei recovered after his fight with Tombstone.
Hei: There was something about him... I couldn't sense him. And
his movements were unnatural. His holy sword too... It
controlled lightning almost like me. And he countered my black
       flames.
Drake: Wait... He countered your elemental skills? That's new.
Hei leans against the wall and slides down to the floor, his
       back against the wall.
Hei: Yeah. He's not a normal fighter. He countered my elements,
and I couldn't bring him down with my swords. And for a
moment... I think he was using vampire skills... Potence.
Fortitude. Possibly even Celerity. But those three powers don't
correspond to any vampire clan. I've never seen any vampire clan
that uses those three. The closest I can think of is the Brujah.
But the Brujah use celerity and potence, not fortitude. I
couldn't tell if it was some kind of vampire skill, or if it was
       just his combat training.
Drake: Sounds like you need to figure out who this guy is.
Hei: I agree. Because something else he said stuck with me... He
said he needed to know how I got my dark flames because it would
help him figure out who he was. He explains.
       Drake: Curious. He says jokingly.
Hei: He's going to be tracking me just as I'm going to be
tracking him. I know this won't be the last time we meet in
battle. He says as he clenches his fist.
Drake: Wow. First Tombstone now this... I've never seen people
who could keep up with you. This is starting to worry me a
       little bit.
Hei: I'll kill them if they're a threat. Don't worry. He says
grimly. I won't lose next time.
       End.
