Bees & things ..

Years ago before I moved to my present home, A bee got into my
house. It couldn't get out through the glass window in the
screen door at the side of the house. Not wanting to kill it, I
shut the main door and then went out the front door to open the
screen door so it could fly away. Nothing too much to think
about, right? Wrong. I was in for a huge surprise.
The next day when I went out the front door, a bee was there.
Odd, right? I don't know how many bees were in its hive; but
only that bee was out front when I left the house. Bees don't
sting unless they feel threatened, so I didn't try to shoo it
away. I said hello to it, in fact. It gets odder. That bee
started flying around my head. I didn't know I had a halo; but
where it flew was in an orbit where a halo would be.
One day I had a visitor; and we wanted to go somewhere
together. I told him about the bee. He didn't believe me; but I
asked him to promise not to try to swat it, just stay calm and
everything would be fine. He finally promised; and was he amazed
when the friendly bee was there to greet me when I opened the
door.
I thought of That bee as my friend. It must have been able to
read my mind because it obviously wasn't out front all the time
but only when I left the house. I still miss that bee; and I
thank God I had it as a friend that one summer.

Hi Kerry
I always stand still if a bee or wasp is around. Years ago I was
cleaning my windows outside, from inside the bedroom, so I
didn’t see a hive that was higher up near the roof. Obviously
presuming an attack was taking place by the movement of my hand,
I got stung. Within moments my skin was itching all over my
body, then red blotches appeared. Sarah was quite young but went
next door and asked a neighbour to ring the GP, he arrived
within ten mins with an injection of adrenaline, my first
encounter with an Epi pen. It took me 48 hours and few more
injections to get the reaction under control. So now I stand
still and just let the bee fly around.
I now have my own EpiPen
Dan got stung in the eye when he was younger and still ( at the
age of 33) runs off if one comes close.
Sarah once found a bee that was in need of water, so she
literally carried it home in the palm of her hand so she could
give it some sugar water!
Bees are just so incredibly important to us because of their
pollination, i have so much respect for them. How God uses
something so small for us to rely on xx

Hi there folks . :)
I love your story of Bees Kerry !( Hope you don’t mind as I’ve
added “& things “ in the title , so we can be as broad as we
like in the thread! )
I had my own encounter 5 days ago.
I usually walk up and down the outside steps that go up to my
daughters deck ..13 steps ..I feel the sense of accomplishment
if I can do three flights without stopping. I’m kinda manic
about keeping my legs strong and moving.
My son in law has raspberry canes at the bottom of those stairs
. They are usually occupied by many bees on the new flowers .
So I did my three fights up and down ….which to use our much
used British word , I was knackered . I staggered back inside
and flopped into my chair to get my breath back.
I felt a tickle on my neck , and obviously thought it was a
mosquito..so I hit it away.
The thing landed on the carpet in front of me , upside down!!
It was on its back so looked totally black . I thought it was
a beetle or something like a cockroach because of its size .
Then I felt the pain in my neck and knew I’d been stung!!
My biggest concern was the creature …to get it outside . I
used a cup and sheet of paper the get it into the cup and
outside . I let it go and this beautiful big bumble bee landed
on the concrete .
I was broken hearted , she was so huge and very beautiful . I
remembered hearing that because a bee stings it then goes away
and dies . :'(
I was so sad . She just lay there , then started to try and
walk .
By then my neck was hurting …Dave was out , so I was alone …I
told my daughter in Spokane “ just in case I reacted “.
I looked for all the adverse signs …but except for the pain
there were none.
I went out to check on my sad bee …she was now walking well . I
prayed for her , told her that I was sorry I’d killed her .
Then she flew off .
I came in and checked the internet about bees and dying .
I was SOOOO relieved when I read that bumble bees do not die
…they can sting many times , as they do not leave their stinger
in when they attack. Yay!!
( I had tried to find the ended of the stinger in my neck,
but couldnt see anything )
It is the smaller honey bees which die , they have a hook at the
end of their stringer , which rips out part of their abdomen ,
how sad …then , because of that, they die .
I iced my neck , it then took the pain away .
I love learning about bees , and how sensitive they are , they
are one of God amazing creatures .
Their honey is very healing .
A teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of coconut oil can cross the
blood-brain barrier and stop aging dementia .
They mess around with it these days , destroying the enzymes
with high heat …but raw honey can work wonders.

This comes under ‘things’, the raspberry bushes Helen mentioned
are a honey pot for bees, our chairs are around the corner away
from said raspberry bushes, I use a full reclining position in
my chair normally BUT Moma my daughters dog , the one with the
very short legs, she all ways makes a bee line (no pun intended)
to check if any berries fell during the night, and the problem
is she is allergic to wasp or 🐝🐝🐝stings.
She also fails the test on the “ come “ command so my reclining
is put on hold until I grab her and sit her on the stairs next
to me.
I know honey has biblical references but are bees actually
mentioned I know hornets made it in.

Do you know what hornet nests look like? If it was hanging from
something and cone shaped, my guess was it was a hornet. I've
had some unpleasant experiences with them. I eradicated two of
their nests. One was in my attic and the other on a tree in the
back yard. I waited until it was chilly out, then I took a
garbage bad and stick and knocked down into the bag. Then I
sprayed bug spray into the bad. Hornets and wasps can be
aggressive.

In a way, bees are more reliable than people. I planted clover
and blooming plants for bees; and I didn't have to order them to
come. They saw the blossoms and did what I had hoped.

I'm surprised it landed on your neck like that. If only you had
known it was a bee and not some vermin; but it's very good you
apologized (I think so anyway) and good it didn't die.

I have to wonder if the honey bee that dies by stinging an
animal is willing to lay down its life for the sake of the hive?
I think it does.

I wish I could grow raspberries, but my soil isn't that good.
The dog's fur may protect it against stings if it's thick
enough.
I check an interlinear Bible and found out that Deborah means
bee. Can you believe that, Dave? The word has something to do
with "straight" since bees fly in straight lines. Some places
could refer to wasps and hornets though, for all I know. One
mentions bees and honey though. Samson ran across a dead lion.
It was close to vineyards.
judges 14:8 And after a time he returned to take her, and he
turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there
was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion.
How unusual. There are aspects of the passage I don't
understand.

The dog has been rushed to the vet twice when stung by a wasp!
She reacts badly to, swells quickly .
I like this -
“ There are times in our lives when we face seemingly
impossible tasks. There are things that we are called by God to
do that will seem impossible. If God calls you to do something,
no matter what it is, do it. God is never going to call us to do
something that we can not accomplish with His help.
We know that a bumblebee should not be able to fly? It is true.
Due to their body size to wing ratio it should be impossible
for a bumblebee to fly, but they obviously do. How is this
possible?
Brother Lon, a revival evangelist jokingly stated that no one
ever told the bumblebee that he could not fly, so he does. :)
It is one of God’s miracles of nature. God said that the
bumblebee should fly, so no matter how impossible it may seem to
man, it is possible with God.
If we are facing some impossible situation in our life we can be
encouraged with this thought today:
“What seems impossible with men, is Him-Possible with God.” No
matter how steep the hill, no matter how deep the valley, if you
place your trust in God, He will give you the strength you need
to accomplish the task He has laid before you.
Remember the story of the bumblebee: Someone forgot to tell him
that he could not fly, so therefore he does. I believe, even if
you did tell him that he could not fly he would do it anyway.
Why? Because God has said so. And what God says goes, no matter
what man might say.”

Is it a terrier? Terriers even when small can be persistent in
what they see as right. It is right if they do into a hole in
the ground, seize a gopher or other pest, and then back up
holding it in their teeth.
We had a tiny terrier when I was about eight. She liked my dad
and youngest sister a lot more than me; but I would play with
her at times. One day, I got something like an old sock and
waved it around. That always got her attention; so we'd play
tug-a-war for a while before she started growling at me. I found
out I could lift her in the air and she wouldn't leave go but
kept growling. It made me angry and I started swinging her
around my head. She still didn't leave go. My Mother
discovered us and told me gently but firmly that I shouldn't do
that. My Mother knew how to handle me; and I knew better in the
future.
That poor little dog came to a bad end though. One day she
wanted out to relieve herself. We didn't have a fenced yard;
but my Dad let her into the yard. She got hit and killed by a
car. I remember my Dad crying when he discovered it. That tiny
terrier wasn't afraid of cars and thought it fun to chase them.

I don't know how they can fly, that's for sure. Can people fly?

Sad about your little dog . This one is a tiny 9lb Havenese.
I read this just now, so obviously thought of this thread .
“ Undertaker bees act as the hive’s medical examiners.
When a bee dies, an undertaker bee examines the corpse, smelling
and tasting it for chemical cues (like oleic acid).
They check for pathogens, mites, and toxins to determine the
cause of death.
If they find signs of disease, the colony responds by ramping
up cleaning efforts and recruiting more undertakers to remove
sick members and protect the hive.”
They seem quite amazing little creatures . So is honey …I’ve
read that honey can stay fresh for 25 years or more .
