I avoided a sin while shopping, lucky me

I would have postponed shopping at Walmart because I knew it
would be crowded; but I had a prescription I needed to pick up.
I also had already put off shopping and was running low on some
things. So I did my shopping and found out the checkouts had
long lines. I am so ignorant about the self-checkouts, I have
to wait for a real live human. So I got in line, and the wait
was not pleasant. Then I noticed an elderly woman behind me
who had only a few items in her cart. I pondered it for a while
then offered to let her trade places with me in line. At first
she seemed reluctant and she also observed I had ice cream in my
cart and told me it might melt. I told her not to worry about
that. She was elderly (I think older than me) but her mind was
alert! And she also had concern for me about the ice cream.
I felt so good when she got ahead of me in line. I don't need a
reward from God for that good deed; I already got it.
James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth
it not, to him it is sin.
So it might have been a sin not to offer her my place; but I do
believe something Divine shows us all good we can do. So I also
thank God for showing me that I could make her life a little bit
       easier.

As one who has slain the Self checkout goliath, I still choose a
station near the self checkout mobile staff as I can never find
the number on the fruit and veg which is a weighed item here.
With the Christmas rush the staffed checkouts queue's are from
Alfa to Omega long, what I have learned by experience is that
people with less articles seem to use the self check thing, thus
enabling one to escape before nasty thoughts of why do people
need that much food invade my noggin'

[/quote]I've heard some people enter wrong numbers on purpose
for weighed items. They get a number for a cheaper item per
       pound than what they're getting.

I got a nice Christmas surprise today when taking a walk. I saw
a woman come out of a house without a coat and carrying lots of
cooking things. It wasn't really that cold, but I wondered.
Then she went to a door a a few houses down and I saw the reason
she hadn't bothered with a coat. She must have been celebrating
       Christmas with a neighbor.
Then all of a sudden a gust of wind blew the aluminum pan that
was on top away. She turned confused and then went into the
house. I dashed after the pan; and luckily there wasn't much
traffic since the pan came to rest in an intersection about a
quarter block away. I picked it up and turned around thinking
I'd have to knock on her door. I was wrong since a young guy
who must have been her grandson had come out. I said, "I
thought I should get it since I was afraid it might blow a block
away." He gave me a wonderful smile as he took it. I am
white and they were black which made it even better since he
       knew I wasn't a racist and I knew he wasn't.
