       Let us start with Enoch.
Genesis 5:23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty
       and five years:
24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and
       begat Lamech.
This was before the Flood when men lived longer. Someone could
       achieve perfection then in one lifetime if he did not go astray;
but great evil was also possible then since great wickedness
could also be attained. The lifespan was shortened therefore to
120 years. Later it was shortened again so that the average
       lifetime was 70 years.
6:6 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face
of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were
fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man,
for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and
       twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after
that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men,
and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which
were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only
       evil continually.
The "sons of God" were fallen angels; and they produced dreadful
offspring when they married human women. They also bred with
animals; and we see some evidence of that in various "gods" with
human bodies having animal or bird heads. So we see fallen
angels could take on solid bodies if they wanted. This is no
longer possible unless they incarnate. They cannot form bodies
out of thin air. The firmament put in place after the Flood
prevents demons from doing much mischief and also prevents men
from doing some kinds of black magic they'd like to do.
So we see Enoch doing what is now impossible for us: Attaining
perfection in one lifetime. Not much else is said about his
disappearing in Genesis. The New Testament mentions him
       however.
Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not
see death; and was not found, because God had translated him:
for before his translation he had this testimony, that he
       pleased God.
Jude mentions Enoch and has much to say about other things as
well. He also refers to a prophecy by Enoch.

The conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus is often
misunderstood. It also is not exactly what it looks like at
       first glance.
John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a
       ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we
know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do
these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Nicodemus was being a little sly about trying to find out who
and what Jesus was. No respectable member of the Sanhedrin
could say such a thing and be sincere. The Torah teaches that
some false prophets can perform signs and wonders. Nicodemus
       wouldn't be contradicting that.
Deuteronomy 13:If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer
of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto
thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not
       known, and let us serve them;
3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that
dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know
whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with
       all your soul.
4 Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep
his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him,
       and cleave unto him.
5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to
death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the Lord
your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and
redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of
the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in. So
shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
So Nicodemus was seeing if Jesus could be manipulated by
flattery. Nicodemus was there to try to discover if Jesus was
from God, not to reassure Jesus he already knew that. Jesus
spotted the attempt to flatter him at once and also knew
Nicodemus was looking for an answer about who and what he was.
So he ignored Nicodemus' spoken words to address his real
       concern.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of
       God.
       Jesus is vaguely referring to the the mystery of the Chariot;
and that is almost never discussed openly. Now perhaps he was
testing Nicodemus who then pretends not to know what Jesus
       meant.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is
old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be
       born?
Again Nicodemus pretends not to understand, so Jesus goes on:
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man
be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the
       kingdom of God.
It is correct to say someone who has been baptized has been born
again of the water; but do not assume that person has also been
of the Spirit at the same time. Jesus goes on:
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is
born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
I would say that those who are born of the water are like unborn
children in the womb -- still developing but not yet born of the
       Spirit.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound
thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it
goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
We can forget whatever we may believe about "born again" if it
conflicts with this teaching. John was friends with Nicodemus
and likely got it directly from him. The person born of the
Spirit can move like wind. He can move around outside of his
       physical body.
Nicodemus still doesn't give up pretending not to understand,
and Jesus' response makes me smile.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of
Israel, and knowest not these things?
Jesus then says, "Enough of your pretending" with what follows:
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know,
and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how
shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down
from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so
must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
       eternal life.]
What should perhaps amaze some of us is that Nicodemus believed
in Jesus after this conversation. I am not amazed however since
I think Nicodemus, though not born again of the Spirit yet
himself, knew about it and what it meant -- and Jesus had just
convinced him he knew what he talking about.
I would say there is some irony in that those who have not yet
been born of the Spirit do wind up entering a womb again in the
flesh to continue their journey to perfection; but let us not
believe that being born again in the flesh by entering another
womb is going to do much by itself since sinners can do that.
