The fire was on the moors near Winter Hill and Saddleworth Moors
Nothing to compare with the LA wildfires though.

Are you anywhere near the place where two horrid people , cut
down that lovely famous yew tree , that had been there ‘forever’
in the middle of nowhere , and been painted and photographed by
       thousands ?
That was so very sad , broke my heart .

Oh no Helen that was a long way from here, it was somewhere
along part of Hadrians Wall on the border with Scotland.

I am transitioning from my iPad to a Samsung tablet, it’s taking
me time to adjust. My iPad just doesn’t take updates anymore as
I don’t have enough storage and I flatly refuse to give apple
anymore money. I have always liked Samsung and may go back to
one of their phones on my next upgrade. I have a google one at
the moment, mainly because Dan recommended but I don’t always
       find it easy to navigate.
I do find that technology advances too quickly for me and does
way more than I can get use to, never really use things to their
       full advantage.

My phone is a Motorola with a Tesco contract. But I can't use
it or my Kindle for messages so I use my laptop. And like you
Rita I'm sure there must be a lot more use I could out of things
       but I can't be bothered.

No my son has checked when we had to update before the most
recent one was due. It’s only 64GB the new Samsung is 128GB. We
deleted as much as we could but there still isn’t enough
storage. My iPad is over five years old and it’s wasn’t one of
the top ones at the time.

[/quote]Good you tried that. I wonder if you could contribute
it to charity? It might work for someone who doesn't need all
       the storage you do.

Good idea - that’s prompted me to consider local groups that I
could put a call out too - thanks xxx
I am in the throws of having a good sort out - every now and
again I blitz the place and get rid of things that I simply
       don’t use any more x
