Just thought I'd pop in and say a late good morning. The
weather's nice, sunny but not very warm. I'm starting a new
jigsaw puzzle and have just finished sorting the pieces. I've
done jigsaw most of my life but recently when I decided to start
doing them again I went online to look for one and am amazed by
all the accessories you can buy these days ranging from about
£10 into the hundreds - even a stand to hold the box lid so you
can see the picture easily. I modified a small adjustable table
so I could them sitting on my sofa. I think doing jigsaws must
be one our nations guilty secrets. Do any of you do them?
I used to do them. Now I spend time online doing sudoku
and playing spades and hearts.

I can't do sudoku to save my life but I do a lot of crosswords.
I also read a lot and recently tried my hand at watercolours
again. I'm no artist but I enjoy the journey. I find that with
a jigsaw the time just flies and since Ray died I seem to have a
lot of hours in the day that I need to fill.
I used to play solitaire and spider solitaire online but found
that my brain wouldn't switch off so I stopped doing it.

Yes , in our latest move from the house to an apartment we got
rid of about 40 of them .sad . We used to both be addicted to
doing them. And I used to paint and loved it. But since I messed
up my back I can neither paint anymore , or do jigsaws …I used
to love both. I could still potter in the garden , which I loved
too…, but I cant even do that now. Even standing peeling
carrots is too much these days …so Dave has become our chief
cook and bottle washer. He does well.
We do also play a couple of games on our iPads , which helps
to keep our brain cells alive and as sharp as possible.

I did that once; and now I'm afraid of changing someone else's
post by accident. I'd rather not have the ability to do that or
the ability to remove posts. I'd be happy to let admins have
those abilities not me.

Been there...lost the tee shirt, having learned my lesson.
Hopefully no admonitioning needed in a forum where all members
are old friends
I find the puzzle books with sudoku hard; and I don't
care for a lot of the internet sites. The site I visit has four
levels; and I'd recommend starting with the easy ones to get the
hang of it. I can't do the hardest ones myself without
frustrating myself. If you or anyone else is interested, this is
the site I go to:
HTML https://www.websudoku.com/
I used to point with oils. I did not use models. Most people
do; but I would try to get a picture in my head and use that. I
did sky pictures rather well. With other things, not at all.

I think Ray may have done a 3D one a few years ago but I don't
fancy them. He liked the Wasgij ones but had to stop doing them
when he lost the feeling in his hands. I like pretty cottages
or scenes of bygone days. Like you we got rid of all ours a few
years ago thinking I'd never do them again. When I started to
look I was surprised how expensive they are new so I went on
e-bay. I did buy a board for doing them on though, it can be on
an angle and the pieces just stick to the felt fabric and don't
slide off. It's easier than doing it flat.

I wouldn't have patience for those 3D ones either.
