Like the poet Wordsworth who shot an arrow into the air, I fired
a post on Pats place, it fell to earth I not where.
I had an old Asian neighbour who had a miniscule garden plot
that he plants every year and he is a great believer in the
eggshell garden, as it was new to me I asked him why, his reply
"Good for garden" end of the 'why question'.
For those who like first and last mention of scripture, Ants are
only mentioned twice, both times in Proverbs, in Prov 6 the
admonition is, Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways,
and be 'wise'.
then in 30 " There be four which are little upon the earth, but
they are exceeding wise"
The wise four; ants, rabbits, locusts and Helen's fav spiders
Lol.
It says that ants, a people not strong yet they prepare their
meat in the summer, this is their exceeding wisdom.
Which teaches us that the race we run is not a sprint, I think
Paul only had one vision but he stayed in the race for the sake
of others, the ant shows us the strength of helping one another,
the value of community and that life faces numerous challenges
and laying down ones own life for another, is a great pearl.
There was a sermon on unity titled, 'A sermon on six legs"
Odd that you mention Proverbs. I have a black plastic
divider separating the lawn and flower beds; and the ants use it
as a highway. When I see an ant, that proverb nearly always
comes to mind; and it encourages me to go on. The ant with the
tiny piece of eggshell was on that divider. I have lilies of
the valley and they remind me of "He's the lily of the valley."
They also remind me of one of my sisters who said it's one of
her favorite flowers. My plants tend to render me remember
people or Bible verses. My bleeding heart reminds me of my dear
Grandmother.
I also love it when I'm out late in the late afternoon and there
are splendid clouds, and my mind goes to: "Revelation 1:7
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and
they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall
wail because of him. Even so, Amen."
I had no clue Asian did that with eggshells; but glad to hear
it. Now that I know, I'll be doing it. Mother birds need lots
of calcium to form their own eggshells, so I'm hoping the birds
get some too. Mixing it with birdseed can be dangerous if baby
birds are out of their nests since their throats are so tiny.
Perhaps some time I should tell the story about a bee I had as a
friend. I still miss that bee; but it lived only one summer.
People might not believe the story though since it's hard to
believe; but I know that we humans can make a difference in how
we treat animals. On this earth, we are their connection with
God. That bee helped me understand many things in the Bible
too, like why some animals were "clean" and others "unclean."
I still don't understand though why bees are considered unclean
but honey is clean.

Well Kerry , I hope you start a thread about your bee friend. I
read that they only live about 44 days. One would think that
something so precious to life on earth would have been assigned
a much longer life span than a few number of days! But then
again…Jesus only had 33yrs on earth.
We know that we are much more invested in the amount of time
our days are on earth than God is!
If there is a ‘Kerry’s Corner’ on here …..it would be a
perfect place to post your life stories.

I say Amen to a Kerry corner, it blew my hair up to know Bee's
were considered unclean, Hallelujah for a better covenant.
The bee probably helps explain my replacing the grass in
my lawn with clover. I get a kick out of seeing the bees
investigating the clover.
Some Rabbis say honey is clean because the bees didn't
make it. They ate it from harvesting it from flowers and then
vomited it up. It's true honey bees have two stomachs, but I
still find that explanation hard to believe.

/> If something touches an unclean animal, it's also considered
unclean. For example, if a bug lands in a glass of water, a
devout Jew won't drink that water. Thus Samson was a little
deceptive when he failed to tell his parents he got that honey
out of a dead lion's body.

I'm looking forward to a rare night out; first a meal and then a
brass band concert. I love a good brass band and tonight it's
the local Wingates band. And I'm going to have Chicken Tikka
and perhaps a pint in the pub beforehand.

I love the film ‘ Brassed off ‘, not a massive fan of that kind
of music but must admit that I love it in the film. My dad used
to be a big fan, so I did use to go along to the Pavilion
gardens and listen to the bands that played during the summer.
His ashes are scattered just along from where he use to sit and
listen, underneath a beautiful tree in the gardens.

I've just got back. It was brilliant, Lots of good tunes from
Mamas and Papas, Neil Diamond, Beatles, Bangles. Iwent with
Beverley my daughter and we're going to go to the next one in
October which will be the Brat Pack. And the curry was good
with a pint of Peroni with lime.
Bev and I did a lot of audience participation whilst most people
just sat there.
