God can and does use many people in power, in what way only time
will tell.
Not sure that not being able to reach the poorest people
justifies cutting vital medical supplies ect from those it has
managed to reach - women and children being treated for the aids
virus is one group that are part of those cuts. It doesn’t mean
that some things don’t need to be cut, but I doubt the ordinary
person in the US is even aware of those mothers and babies with
aids losing the medication they need.
I just have a heart for the ordinary person that is affected by
the steamrolling effect of the decisions being made, all in the
name of ‘ looking good ‘ in the eyes of the people.
Our government is the same - not really considering the impact
on the really vulnerable.
It bothers me , so I won’t applaud Trump for everything he is
doing because he too is playing games with peoples lives, like
all governments. I know who would be on the Lords heart - the
vulnerable people. So it does bother me when his people shout
hooray to everything he is doing and allowing. Xxx

Remember when Israel wanted a king? It disturbed Samuel but God
told him to do what the people wanted. I Samuel 8 has the story.
God said they had rejected Him, and they could have their king
along with the consequences. If people want a corrupt
government that God doesn't think is the best, so be it.
Dominion over the earth was given to men so it was God's Will to
let them have it their way.
Having bad men rule over us if that's what we want has a point.
We should learn from the experience. Things are getting worse
for the US in several ways; but maybe that's what we deserve. I
have more concern for the innocent suffering too.

I must admit that ‘ Israel wanting a king ‘ and the situation in
the USA has come to my mind often over the past few years. My
views on Him have not changed over the years , but I know that
many here, and on another forum can’t praise him enough. I do
have concerns over all the deportations taking place and now the
birthright law being passed is slightly worrying.
A soldier’s son who was born in Germany while his dad served in
the US military was deported the other day , to a country he
knows nothing about, that is just crazy. Where is the means
testing for these situations. Mothers being separated from
children ect. As a Christian I find this hard to stomach. Of
course the issue with illegals need dealing with, but america
was founded on those who came from England ( immigrants ).
The big beautiful bill looks as if it will benefit those above a
certain income , especially with Medicare ect -many others will
lose that life line. What does scripture relay to us, to support
and help the poor and those in need. It’s like Stammer with his
welfare reforms ( that got through one stage of parliament
yesterday , thankfully with some changes. Peoples lives are
impacted.

While Trump says he's a great defender of Christianity, I don't
get it. Now Iranian Christians who fled their country because
of religious persecution are being rounded up despite being here
lawfully and seeking citizenship. I would grant other people
from other religions asylum if they were doing things right
here. I was shocked when I read about it.

I have neighbors two doors down from me from Haiti. I never
spoke to the husband, but the wife told me the reason they left
was because of all the voodoo there. They run a business in a
large building with apartments above the business. I spoke to
her right after the nasty rumor was started about Haitians
eating people's cats and dogs. She appeared quite nervous. I
tried to let her know I certainly didn't believe it.
Then I got worried about them again when I read Trump was
terminating the protected status for Haitians seeking asylum.
The latest news is that a judge blocked that move; but something
similar happened with Venezuelans and the Supreme Court ruled he
could do that to them.

Our immigration system does need revised, that's for sure. I
would make it a lot easier to comply with regulations. Lots of
agricultural workers came to the country unlawfully to work
here. Instead of working on a way to get them legal, Trump
deported lots of them. Right now, there is a big shortage of
workers on our farms. It is leading to higher prices too. It
will also mean the US can't export as much agricultural products
as they used to. Other countries are so worried about it they
found other countries to buy from; so our exports have already
suffered. Crops are rotting in the fields since few Americans
want those jobs. It's ironic that farmers are being hit so hard;
but farmers voted overwhelmingly for Trump over Harris. Now
he's doing this to them?

[/quote]The cuts in healthcare benefits and food assistance
programs, if there are in the final bill, also would tend to
hit Republican states which voted for Trump harder than
Democratic states that went for Harris. The rate of poverty is
higher than average in many of the states which voted for Trump,
so more of the people in them need government assistance.
People who voted for Trump will be suffering more than people
who voted for Harris. I get the feeling that several of the
Republicans who vote for the cuts won't get re-elected. It
looks to me as if the Republican Party is committing suicide.

Pat , I cannot remember what Mike wrote, but it must have been
about the cuts to foreign aid as I responded to the post.
Kerry, it seems that there is little or no means testing. Just
list of names and they just act. I understand that the new bill
will give ICE more power. I see Musk is not happy, but it’s
difficult to tell whether that is for personal reasons rather
than caring. He could impact the mid term elections.
Obviously we don’t know what would have unfolded if Harris had
got in, that’s always a difficult thing to evaluate. We thought
Stammer would be better than Sunak , but they are all the same-
power and money being the driving force. Trumps family are from
Germany , I did like the way the chancellor of Germany gave him
framed documents to prove it - that was brilliant.
I know many believe Trump is holding back the rot behind the
powers, that could be true, but he is creating his own rot in
the process, in my opinion.

I just think it's terrible what Trump is doing in America and
can't understand why any right thinking American would vote him
in. I too had been reading God's response to the Israelites
wanting a king and your post pointing out the similarities made
good sense.
