I am sadly still without internet- from time to time I pick up
       my daughters.
Mike I am pleased that you have found something else to occupy
your mind, but I have asked you a few times ‘ how you are ‘ , so
if this is a site for friends to come together it actually
requires two way conversations. Regardless of how many times you
post ect this was still your idea , you still have a part to
       play.
The last time you posted was when you had injured your shoulder,
hence why I checked to see how you were doing.
I cannot stay online for long and I have no idea how long the
fault on the line is going to take to sort out.

       Hi Rita,
Chris and me are fading fast. Last Thursday I fell over in the
bath and was totally immobilised for an hour before finally
managing to lift myself out. Then ten minutes after getting
dressed and going to our local old folks community lunch Chris
stepped outside to refill the birds bath with water and she too
fell over with no warm or protective clothing and laid on the
cold and wet concrete for two hours before being picked up when
       our dog walker arrived.
Also I now painfully lose circulation to my hands immediately I
go to bed and lay down and it keeps me awake all night
       regardless of any medication.
Chris, who has always been so upbeat, now reckons she will be
       lucky to 'make' Christmas.
My only 'break' is to use my bus pass to go for a ride and visit
three other community lunches at Cromer and Sheringham (Chris
hates socialising and I have to go alone).
Almost daily I 'guest' into the forum in the hope that it might
regain the activity that I originally intended.
I feel no anger that it didn't work out ....just disappointment.
Sorry to be so morbid...not at all the sort of thing that a
       forum needs!!
       Mike xx

Mike sorry to hear of your health issues and Christine’s tumble
in the garden, when you’re in the ‘teens’ getting old was not on
the menu, now it seems ‘old’ has caught up and overtaken us and
       is now the whole menu.
Does your bus pass to Sheringham include a stop at Dave’s Fish
       Bar maybe😋😋😋.
Helen and I will be praying for you both, tell Christine she
can’t miss out on the Christmas nosh.
Just reading a booklet entitled “If God is good, why is their so
       much suffering”
found it in a mini library in someone’s front garden, not sure
of it’s source as I haven’t read the end of the booklet yet.

Thank you for responding Mike, as friends we can pray for one
another - even if it’s just the three of us meeting here xxxxxx
I am only just beginning to know how difficult it can be to get
up when you fall, since my knee issues I often have to get help
from Dan. I am so sorry that both you and Christine have had
falls, they can and do knock you for six at times. Thank
goodness the dog walker came when she did, do you or Christine
have any ‘ call alarms ‘ set up in the home, the ones that are
linked to bracelets or necklaces that alert an outside agency
       that you need help?
So sorry about your hands at night, I use to get pains in my
legs as soon as I endeavoured to lay down and sleep. Its so
frustrating when you body is tired but something triggers as
soon as we lay down. I am presuming it is a circulation problem
with your hands, do you get pain ( like when your hands are cold
       in the snow ) ?
Going to things alone, I can relate ………that’s driven me nuts for
years. I simply don’t go because I hate the isolating feeling
and I am simply not good at socialising with others unless I
have a role to play ( like In the carehome environment ). My
brother wants me to go to Germany , it means flying by myself (
       it’s horrible ) G
Good for you that you go despite having to go by yourself
       xxxxxxxx
       Much love x

I know with bated breath you await the conclusion of "if God is
       Good why Do we hurt"
I shall with my one anointed finger type what is written on the
last page of his little booklet.
Out of the deepest hurts of the human condition, Randy Alcorn
brings into clear focus our most pressing questions about evil
and suffering___ including those that wrench our souls when we
or someone we love is victimised by evil or assaulted by
       disease.
He faces these questions with seasoned sensitivity, skilful
insight, and a heart of compassion. He dodges none of the
difficulties and never lapses into platitudes, hand wringing, or
       oversimplifications.
On this troubling but inescapable topic you'll find frank
acknowledgement of the inherent limitations that set humanity
apart from the God who has none. There's also generous, real
encouragement that brings God nearer in our understanding when
we need His comfort most. And amid our heavy doubts and swirling
confusion on this topic, Randy Alcorn points us ultimately
toward Jesus as "the only answer bigger than the questions"
This is from the last little chapter, "Whenever you feel tempted
to ask God " Why are you doing this to me?" look at the Cross
and ask "Why did you do THIS FOR me"
In this world of suffering and evil, I have an abiding hope, and
faith for the future-------not because I follow a set of
religious rules, but because for 40 years I've known a real
       person.
Through inconceivable self sacrifice he has touched me deeply,
given me a new heart, and utterly transformed my life.
There was a time when I could not fully accept any explanation I
didn't fully understand. But because Jesus willingly entered
this world of evil and suffering and didn't spare himself,
because he endured the worst for my sake and yours, he has
earned my trust even when I don't understand.
When it comes to goodness and evil, present suffering, and
eternal joy......the first Word, and the last, is Jesus.
Probably one of those, you had to be there moments.
But the subject matter is one that as a christian we have to
       give answer or not!!!!!!!
Are you up and running(no pun intended Rita) now, a good old
threesome suits me on the site.

Good morning Dave, and Mike as I know you said you log n and
       view each day xx
No, not up and running yet, the problem obviously is not an easy
one to solve as they are aligning a new engineer ( British
telecom as it’s a problem with the signal reaching the main pod
up the road ) So we will see if anything happens today, evidence
of a resolve will be a solid orange light turning to a solid
green one. Sadly they don’t work at weekends, so if it doesn’t
happen today it won’t change till next week !
Suffering is a difficult one isn’t it, but over the years I have
come to realise that it is the real ‘ us ‘ me ‘ that is
renewing, but my body is but a shell that is in a fallen world
and ultimately impacted by decay and failings.
I mean, when my knee injury came we all prayed, but no healing
came - yet look how the Lord used the situation. I still
maintain romans 8:28, and I claim it within many things that
cause me pain and others grief and suffering.
The bigger things are more difficult to understand, like the
wars happening at the moment. The suffering is so big for so
many, but our world is broken.
Jesus is the only answer as his grace is what we need to get us
through. It’s His strength we need to cope , his strength that
we need to deal with things. It’s when we are leaning on our own
strength and understanding that we struggle to make it through.
Jesus was not void of grief when he faced the cross, he didn’t
want to face the suffering, he needed strength too, gethsemane
shows the depth of what he felt. ‘ If it is possible take this
       cup from me ‘ ………
Sounds like an interesting read Dave xx
I am re reading ‘ Brother Yen’s ‘ living water . He wrote ‘ The
       heavenly man ‘.
His testimony is amazing, he suffered a great deal x

Good morning one and all and who knows the one maybe the all.
'All'is a very interesting biblical word, does it mean 'all' as
we know all or does 'all' have a different context from where
       God is sitting.
Philippians 4-19: but Paul 13 verses before says; 'Do not
be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and
supplication with 'thanksgiving' let your requests be made known
       to God.'
A well quoted verse, verse 19 says " But my God shall supply
"all" your need( singular) according to his riches in glory by
Christ Jesus" methinks something hinges on the "in glory" bit
       myself.
Paul in 2 Cor9 starts the chapter with "For as touching the
ministering to the saints-------" He then touches on 'sowing and
       reaping' and the heart purpose in this. And in verse 8;
"And God is able to make 'all' grace abound toward you, that ye,
always having 'all' sufficiency in 'all', may abound to every
       good work"
We know the context of 'grace' but it's the work of God that
makes it abounding, for the purpose of believing, as good works
are founded only on believing, so maybe "All" has the same
foundation. That 'All" is relative to what the context is and
       our belief in that context.
Followed by the not very oft quoted; "How do you like those
       apples"
       Have a blessed week all.

Oh blow, I bought us some Chestnuts and last night in prep'in
them to roast, the carving knife slipped and carved my thumb,
the next lot I'm going to boil.
Unfortunately the trees don't seem to like the Alberta climate,
so we have either Italian or Chinese imports, these I think are
the Chinese variety and have been grown on a steady steriod diet
       by their size.
When we lived in Bexhill chestnutting was one of our major
yearly highlights, the primo spot was at a place called the
village of Catsfield, then down a winding lane to an area of the
       said trees.
The first attack was to vigorously shake the trees, much to our
German Shepherds delight who would then grab one and take off
       dropping it quickly.
Phase two was to find a nice throwing stick, and aiming for the
clusters, the girls always wore wellies to tread and remove the
nuts, but as the prickles gain momentum they both joined Helen
by the wayside, but any man putting his hand to the chestnut
plough cannot look back, only up.
The next phase was for me to ascend up the trees and throw them
down, again firing up the dog and Helen with " be careful, don't
fall" like falling is an option one chooses.
By this time I'm the only working participant in getting the
       prickly shells off, then off home to the words of the old song;
'roasting chestnuts on an open fire'.
Never cut my thumb once on the local English ones, blinkin'
foreign ones!!!!!! AND they don't taste anywhere near the same.
When the war ended and we could again explore the woods, we
would fill cocoa tins with a mixture of sand and chestnuts and
bury them in the garden for Christmas, even back then I was not
gifted with a long memory, it was always hit and miss in finding
       the tins again.
Its always a bit of a laugh around the chestnut pile at the
store, as I press and inspect the chestnuts, (I feel a bit like
the priests inspecting the lambs at the temple) before dropping
into my plastic bag which is supposed to self disintegrate but
actually seems to have a great longevity attached to it.
The 'hood is taking on a very festive look to it, maybe our East
Indians are waiting to closer the time before----, but one can
pick out where the white population live, this is all exterior
decorations but one house up the street which has a penchant for
magic sticks on their front step in the summer, they which have
from a distance ones inside that look like the old paper ones we
used to have but I'm sure they are not the old accordion ones
but they run all around the front room at ceiling height, nice
       touch.
It's amazing what a band aid on the thumb can bring forth and a
       blunt knife.

As I've finished my preoccupation with snow shovelling this
morning, I thought self, what other preoccupation can I find, so
here I am after opening some delivered Christmas cards.
So a 'young man's thoughts' turn to ;) the original event that
took place lo those many years ago, and one has to like Luke's
account of how that event shook down. Always worth a re-read.
It struck me that among the blessed are these nameless band of
shepherds, to them it was just another night in paradise,
keeping watch and 'abiding', what an important place that is
especially in this odd time which we find ourselves in, you talk
about a, not your average sheep night.
Who gets nowadays to enjoy a night time of "the glory of the
Lord " shining around, complete with an angelic visitation and
throw in 'a heavenly multitude praising God' and get given to
them a Word and plus, it came with directions and they knew it
was a Word from the Lord,
And the 'good tidings' is an inclusive for "ALL" people and the
sign was!!!!! it's nice we can join with them at the stable
scene without having to hike there!!!!!
The sign was a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a
       manger.
I never knew the significance of the manger until I read it
would have been a stone one, and it was the used for when a lamb
was born and examined and found perfect, it was then wrapped and
placed in the manger. WOW if that didn't blow my bald palate
       hair up.
The off the shepherds go and preach glad tidings of great joy,
then back to the mundane, looking after their sheep.
One wonders if it would ever be quite the same.
