A favorite song. The lyrics are both sad and uplifting. The
Promise is on our horizons, no matter how dark the day.
       "Take heart."
       "Be of good courage."
And the angels say, "Fear not!"

       About the gay guys:
At the nursing home, good help is difficult to find and
difficult to keep. Kevin's day can make or break, depending on
       who is caring for him.
Riley and Randy are a gay couple that worked briefly at the
home. They had the piercings, a plethora of tatooes, and maybe,
beneath the scrubs, they dressed a bit unconventionally, but ...
I never saw them NOT working, I did see them on their knees in
front of residents in wheelchairs, speaking eye to eye, at their
level in gentle, patient tones. They treated Kevin very well
and even fed him on occasion. They were some of the best nurses
       seen over the past year.
Yet, Riley and Randy were run out of their jobs by both
residents and staff who thought it their God-given duty to
inform them that they were sinners, abominations, queers ... and
these people hurled insults at them and some even refused their
       care.
So, Kevin lost both friends and some of his best caregivers.
I just ask, how would Jesus treat Randy and Riley? Would He
show them love and compassion? Would He shun them? Would He
praise them for their own work ethic and compassion toward the
residents? Would He speak kindly, respectfully? Would He beat
them down or draw them in?
I fear too many times Christians are poor representatives of
Christ. In their own sense of righteousness, they prevent the
children from ever approaching the Father. They take judgement
into their own hands and condemn.
What actually IS our "duty" toward people such as Randy and
       Riley?
I know this is a deep topic, but maybe the answer is simple.
       Love one another.
I believe we are called to love. I don't believe we have the
power to condemn. I believe we need to first consider our
selves and we need, sometimes, to trust God.
I didn't care about their sexuality. I cared about their
nursing skills. They were among the best, yet we lost them to
       this prejudice of sorts.
Any thoughts? I find it troubling.

I know that 'live and let live' is frowned upon in some
Christian circles who are all too ready to judge and point the
finger at anybody with a different lifestyle to what they
consider is right. But my belief is that everybody has he right
to live their lives in their own way. Because only if they are
convicted by the Holy Spirit will it make any difference.
Pointing fingers and judgmental attitudes rarely bring about the
change in people that will bring them to God and will most
probably have the opposite effect and make them run a mile.
There is only one way to reach somebody for Jesus and that is
       with love, understanding and compassion.

Oh Nancy that’s awful. We have many gay caregivers where I work
and often as not they are more caring, what a horrible way to
treat people. I do understand that some elderly people do have
issues, and not only with gays but also people who are black. My
dad was one of those, and because he just said things as his
internal filter declined he came across as racist, sexist and
       homophobic.
It was difficult to handle at times, but I was his care giver
and I understood that it was ignorance and a foundational issue
from his past and at 90 he wasn’t going to change.
I see a lot of this Christian hate on another forum that I am
moderator on, it drives me nuts. I have the same questions as
       you have at times xxxx

Thanks, Pat and Rita, for your replies. "Live and let live"
could solve a lot of conflict, as long as no one is being
harmed, I do agree. The judgemental treatment results in
nothing but anti-Christian sentiment, I'm afraid. Rita, I've
noticed the people with dementia do seem to just say whatever
pops into their heads, kinda like how drinking makes people less
inhibited. Some come off very mean, even, while others are
consistently sweet, even if confused. And, yep, Kevin has told
me the black girls who fill in on weekends often get treated
       badly, too.

I've given this a bit of thought before replying, there are
about 80 mentions of 'abominations' in scripture, but the
homosexual one gets the most christian attention.

I was a bit curious as to why this in the 'sin' category was
more than just 'sin' in the churches eyes, I'm one who never
knew what a homosexual was until I was 18 and a man tried to
pick me up in a restaurant in London, I was in the Army at Mill
Hill, so I asked a friend and he filled me in ,and it seems it
was standard practice to make a few bob ($$) in Hyde park after
dark, so I was probably in the same league as Rita's dad and
even as a Christian they didn't disappear, even with limited
exposure, coming to Canada and working in the interior designers
put me right in the midst, it's odd but I seemed to react like
       it was disease.
And most are very gracious, but I was still in the- 'if I
dropped something, I would still "kick with my foot and not bend
down" mode, am I comfortable around them, my answer is no.
Im never very comfortable with things I cannot wrap my head
       around.
I have grown up, I'm past the crushing their hands in a
       handshake now.
So the next biggy is how should I treat them,- "love the sinner
hate the sin" to me is a bit of a cliche if it just leaves me
complacent. One thing I do try and do is show kindness, the
pattern Son showed kindness to all sinners, except the religious
       ones!
And my belief is, that the spirit behind homosexuality is an
anti-Christ spirit ,I say this because it wreaks havoc , and in
it's wake and is NOT a 'face to face' love experience.
The face-to-face is Gods mode of loving, Israel on the mount
avoided a face to face with God when He said He would come down
unto them and talk with them..they said No..and they chose Moses
to go up instead.... and they are still paying a price for that.
I'm probably a minority on where I see the issue, but as it took
me a long time before I could even hug a Brother in Church it
       doesn't come easily to me.
That said- we do have two close homosexual friends ( both we
knew before they even knew that the they were)
So for me and my house , the biggest issue is the 'anti-Christ '
       spirit that drives them.
Gods Plan is making a Bride fit for his Son..
Two males cannot produce Life , not an ounce...and God is all
       about producing life.
       Thats His Plan.
       .

I played geriatric squash yesterday, my mate doesn’t move at the
speed of light coming from changing to the courts, so I get to
‘warm’ up the ball, which I was doing and instead of taking an
extra step towards the ball I did the extended arm bit and
tweaked a ‘muscle’ (I use the word loosely) in my shoulder,
which resulted in a very sharp nagging pain, which resulted in a
distinct loss of power when playing but ‘nuff’ said on that.
I always like the sports multi millionaires, when they say “I
played” through the pain as they deposit their cheque’s, is in
the Christian walk the loss of “power” due to my lack of playing
through the ‘pain’? Or a question of not paying the price to be
       fully used by the Lord?
This morning I’m feeling the ‘pain’ for paying the price, years
ago we would travel miles to hear the Word preached, I bemoan
the no ‘power’ bit and probably use age as my excuse, unlike
King David of old who was always willing to pay the price, now
one seems to like following the King but one finds sitting
       better than fighting.
Is the adage, no pain, no gain, applicable for work in Kingdom
       for today?
       PS
Did anyone read my response to Nancy’s question about
       homosexuality ?
I thought long and hard before replying to hers.
I see she was on here yesterday …but no one seems to have read
       it!
Not blaming anyone….I don’t find this an easy forum to navigate
…..Both Helen and I miss posts …it’s seems easy to do on this
       format.
       Blessings on all…have a good one…
A part quote by Bill Johnson says, Matt 13vs 11----------- that
God hides things FOR us, not from us, Selah.
As for me after putting out my fleecy; I think in replying to
people from now on all replies after today will be IN Happy
       Posting.
'Beware lest thou depart from the simplicity----' is my watch

One who was passing through deep waters of affliction wrote to a
       friend:
"Is it not a glorious thing to know that, no difference how
unjust a thing may be, or how absolutely it may seem to be from
Satan, by the time it reaches us it is God's will for us, and
will work for good to us?
“For all things work together for good to us who love God…….”
And even of the betrayal, Christ said, "The cup which my Father
gave me, shall I not drink it?"
We live blessed lives if we are living in the center of God's
will. All the attacks that Satan, through others' sin, can hurl
against us are not only powerless to harm us, but are turned
       into blessings on the way.
